Chapter 16: Act II Scene II Silly?
A burp echoed around the stage. Simba, Timon and Pumbaa were on a "hill" facing the audience.
"Nice one, Simba," Timon said.
"Thanks," Simba responded. "I'm stuffed."
"I ate like a pig," Pumbaa stated.
"Pumbaa, you are a pig," Simba reminded him.
"Oh," Pumbaa remembered. They looked at the ceiling for a few seconds. "Hey, Timon, do you ever wonder what those sparkly dots up there in the sky are?"
"Pumbaa, I don't wonder, I know," Timon answered.
"Then what are they?" Pumbaa asked.
"They're fireflies that got stuck in that bluish-black thing," Timon responded.
"Well, I always thought that they were great big balls of gas shining thousands of miles away," Pumbaa admitted.
"Pumbaa, to you everything's gas," Timon replied.
"How about you, Simba?" Pumbaa asked. "What do you think they are?"
"Well, I don't know," Simba admitted.
"Come on, Simba!" Pumbaa said. "We told you ours."
"Well, somebody once told me that great kings of the past are up there, watching us," Simba admitted.
"Really?" Pumbaa questioned.
"You mean there are a bunch of royal dead guys watching us?" Timon said. He then laughed at that and Pumbaa joined in. "Who told you THAT? Who made THAT up?"
"Yeah, it's pretty silly," Simba said half-heartedly. He then left them and headed off toward stage right. When Timon noticed it he stopped laughing.
"Was it something I said?" Timon asked. There was a blackout.
