Chapter One:
Ten years ago, I left home and went to college. My parents encouraged me to pursue my dream. I worked hard to pay my way through college and studied hard every night.
Four years ago, I finally qualified as a lawyer and began working in my dream job. I worked from 6am to 11pm gladly every day.
Today, I have given up my dreams and am returning to La Push to care for my mother. I will never forget the day that I received possibly the worst news in my life, my mother had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and there was no medical cure available.
"Sophia, darling, I need you to come back to me" she stated in a gentle voice, wavering at the end.
"Is everything okay mom?" I asked nervously.
A single word response was sufficient for me to book a flight out immediately. "No".
That is where I currently am, JFK airport about to board a flight back to La Push, the place I had wanted to escape from my entire life.
This is the last short chapter.
The story begins in the following chapters, which will be much longer.
Hope you enjoy!
