"Mommy! Mommy! Mom-"
"What is it Jason?" Sam asked, coming into the kitchen, where Jason was coloring at the table.
"I drew this picture for the baby," Jason said proudly, holding up a picture.
"Oh wow, Jason, this is really good," Sam smiled. "I'm sure your brother or sister will love it."
"I find out if the baby is a boy or a girl today, right?"
"Hopefully, if the baby cooperates," Sam nodded, placing a hand on the small bump of her abdomen. "Hey, why don't I bring your picture with me and daddy to my appointment today so we can show it to the baby on the ultrasound machine?"
"Okay!" Jason agreed excitedly as Freddie walked into the kitchen.
"Sam, you ready?" he asked. "We need to be there in half-an-hour."
"I'm ready," Sam said. "It's your mother we're waiting for. What happened to Ms. Punctuality? You know, she's always the first to criticize when I'm late, but here she is-"
Just then they heard the front door open and a moment later Marissa appeared in the kitchen.
"Sorry I'm late!" she said, setting a large bag down on the counter. "I was busy preparing a delicious lunch for Jason and me to enjoy."
"What is it?" Jason asked.
"Mushroom casserole with a green bean glaze!" Marissa replied happily. "It's time my precious grandson started eating nutritious foods instead of the artificial junk he's used to."
"Alright, well thanks for babysitting, mom," Freddie said quickly as Sam opened her mouth to reply. "We need to get going or we're going to be late. Bye, Jason. Be good for grandma."
"Good luck, sweetie," Sam whispered as she leaned down to kiss the top of Jason's head.
"Oh, when you're at the doctors', Samantha, ask him if he can go over the recommendations of what to eat not to eat while you're pregnant," Marissa said, cringing as she held up a bag of cheese puffs from the counter. "Perhaps you'll listen to him."
"Um, alright, we're off!" Freddie said quickly, taking his wife's hand. "We'll be back in a couple hours."
"Take your time," Marissa said. "I'll just rewash Jason's laundry."
"She's unbelievable," Sam mumbled as her and Freddie left the house. "We've been married five years, I gave her a grandkid, and she still hates me!"
"She does not hate you," Freddie told her. "Meddling and criticism are just how she shows affection."
"Yeah, well, she still drives me crazy."
"Hey," Freddie said, taking her hand in his. "Don't worry about her. This is an exciting day for us. We're finding out whether we're going to have a son or a daughter."
Sam smiled. "Yeah, you're right."

"You seem to be doing very well," the doctor told Sam as he looked at the image on the ultrasound monitor. "You must be doing everything right."
"Can I get that in writing to show my mother-in-law?" Sam smirked.
"Wouldn't be the first time I've done that," the doctor chuckled.
"So the baby's healthy?" Freddie asked.
"Yes, everything seems to be developing right on schedule," the doctor nodded. "In fact the baby's heartbeat seems to be especially strong. Hmm, hold on a moment…this is unusual."
"What?" Sam frowned, gripping Freddie's hand anxiously.
"Is everything okay?" Freddie asked nervously.
"Sam, if I remember correctly, you're a twin, aren't you?" the doctor said.
"What? Yeah, I am," Sam replied, confused. "But what's that got to do with our baby?"
"Babies," the doctor corrected.
Sam's eyes widened and Freddie nearly lost his balance. "B-Babies?" he repeated. "You-You mean-"
"Congratulations," the doctor smiled. "You're having twins."
"Twins?" Sam said softly, staring at the monitor, a grin creeping onto her face. "Oh my God, Freddie…we're having twins!"
"This is incredible, baby," Freddie beamed, giving Sam a kiss. "Twins…wow."
"They run in families sometimes," the doctor explained, still fiddling with the machine. "You see? We have two heads, four arms, four legs…"
"Wait, so can we still find out the gender?" Sam asked. "Or genders, I guess?"
"Your twins are identical, so they're the same gender," the doctor told her. "And let me just see…yup. I can tell you. You both sure you want to know?"
Sam looked up at Freddie. "We're sure," she nodded.
"Well it looks like you're going to have two little girls on your hands in five months," the doctor announced.
"They're girls?" Freddie whispered, his face lighting up. "We're going to have daughters…"
"I'll give you two a moment," the doctor smiled kindly.
"I can't believe this!" Sam said breathlessly.
"How lucky are we?" Freddie said. He looked at the monitor. "Hi girls…hi, I'm your daddy."
"Hi," Sam breathed, also looking at the monitor with tears in her eyes. "I'm your mommy. Daddy and I are so excited to meet you. Oh! Freddie, in my bag…I promised we'd show Jason's picture."
Freddie quickly retrieved the drawing. "Your big brother, Jason, drew this for you girls," Freddie said. "He's so excited to meet you both. You'll really love him."
"Three kids…" Sam said softly. "Think we can handle that?"
"Of course we can," Freddie chuckled, kissing her again. "We'll be fine."

"Hi mom," Freddie said later on as him and Sam entered their home.
Hi, dear," Marissa replied, looking up from dusting the coffee table. "Oh, Samantha? You really should dust this house three times a day; it's absolutely filthy!"
"Yeah, sure," Sam said, rolling her eyes. "Where's Jason?"
"Upstairs taking a nap," Marissa replied. "Now did you talk to the doctor about your eating habits-"
"So mom," Freddie cut in. "Sam and I found out the sex of the baby today."
Marissa gasped, dropping the duster on the floor. "You did? Oh, what is it?"
Freddie looked over at Sam.
"You said you always wanted a daughter, right?" Sam asked softly.
"It's a girl?" Marissa exclaimed.
Sam shook her head. "No, not a girl."
"Well then why would you-"
"It's twins," Sam told her. "We're having twin girls."
"Twin-Twins?" Marissa shrieked.
"Isn't it great news?" Freddie grinned. "Isn't it-"
"Out of my way, Freddie!" Marissa said loudly, pushing her son out of the way as she rushed towards Sam, throwing her arms around Sam. "Oh, Samantha!"
"Um, okay, kind of suffocating," Sam said, awkwardly patting her on the back.
"Oh, I can hardly believe-two granddaughters! Oh, thank you, Samantha!"
"You know, I contributed too!" Freddie winced, getting to his feet.
"Freddie? What are you doing lounging around?" Marissa snapped, helping Sam over to the sofa. "Can you not see that Sam needs something to drink?"
"I'm fine, actually," Sam said.
"Nonsense!" Marissa said. "Just tell Freddie what you want."
"Well I guess I could go for an iced tea…"
"Freddie-"
"I'm on it," Freddie sighed, heading into the kitchen.
