AN-So this chapter is a sequel to a really early chapter, chapter 109, where Sam was suspended by the vice principal after she received an A on a chemistry exam because he thought the only way she could get that grade was by cheating, so Freddie went in and defended her, getting the suspension revoked.

Slight

"Suspended?" Carly exclaimed, sitting up in her bed as she shoved her box of tissues off her lap. "Sam!"

"Carls, chill, you're sick," Sam said, rolling her eyes. "Freaking out is only gonna make you worse."
"I don't care about some cold!" Carly snapped. "I care about my best friend being suspended from school! I'm gone for one day and this happens? Er, what did happen?"

"Vice Principal Gold suspended me for cheating on my chemistry test," Sam mumbled.

"You-You cheated?" Carly frowned. "Sam, that's so unlike you! I-I was thinking you shoved Gibby into the lunch tray slot or you brought a skunk to school. You're not a cheater!"
"I didn't cheat," Sam said.

"But then why does the vice principal think you did?" Carly asked, confused.

"Because I got an A on the test," Sam said, looking away. "And apparently there's no way I could've managed that without cheating."

"That's ridiculous!" Carly said, outraged. "He can't do that! He can't suspend you without proof!"

"He already did," Sam said heavily.

"Well…We'll fight it!" Carly said firmly. "Come on, let's go get Spencer and get down to the school. Maybe he learned something in his seventy-two hours of law school to help you out. Or maybe we can get ahold of Principal Franklin and he can override this and-"

"Carly, it's fine," Sam said. "It's not worth making a huge deal out of it."
"Not worth-Sam! Of course it is!" Carly argued. "Suspensions go on your permanent record! Every college you apply to will see-"

"What difference is one suspension going to make anyway?" Sam snapped. "It's not like I was doing so well before this!"
"Well, sure, you-you've had some issues," Carly agreed. "But that was in the past and-"

"-And no one's going to believe I could actually get an A in any class besides gym without cheating because of my past," Sam said firmly. "So you know what? It's not even worth fighting it anymore. I'm just gonna-"

"Sam!" Freddie suddenly burst in, panting as he caught his breath. "Sam, you're not-you're not-"

"Um, you want some water?" Carly frowned as Freddie wiped his sweaty brow. "Or a mop?"

"No, no I-I'm fine," Freddie gasped. "Man that was a far run…I forgot how many stairs it was till the eighth floor."

"Okay, we get it, nub, you're out of shape," Sam said, rolling her eyes. "Now what were you saying? I'm not what?"

"You're not suspended!" Freddie told her, holding onto Carly's dresser for support. "Vice-principal Gold…he overturned your suspension."
Sam blinked. "What? Are-Are you serious?"

Freddie nodded. "It's wiped from your record and everything. Tomorrow you can go back to school just like everybody else."

"Oh my God!" Carly exclaimed, wrapping her arms around Sam. "Sam, that's amazing! See, I told you Gold would see that he was completely out of line to suspend you for something you didn't do!"

"I-Yeah," Sam said slowly, looking at Freddie over Carly's shoulder. "Yeah, I-I guess he did."

"How about some orange juice to celebrate?" Carly beamed, releasing Sam.

"Orange juice?" Freddie repeated.

"Well I'm sick; I don't have a lot of options!" Carly defended. "So three glasses?"
"Sure," Freddie nodded.

"Thanks, Carlotta," Sam smiled.

Once Carly left Sam sat down on the edge of her bed.

"So…I'm really not suspended anymore?" she asked.

"That's right," Freddie replied. "And you shouldn't have ever been in the first place. You earned that A in chemistry, you didn't cheat."

"You actually believe me?" Sam asked.

Freddie chuckled. "I like to think I know you pretty well. Sure, you may enjoy throwing spitballs at teacher's heads and using textbooks as Frisbees, but you're not a cheater. I don't believe in in the slightest that you'd cheat like that. It's just not you."

Sam gave him a small smile. "Wow…and after all those years of me causing you emotional pain. Clearly I haven't been doing my job right."

"Eh, you haven't just caused me emotional pain," Freddie said. As he realized what he had said, he quickly looked down at his feet, his face flushing.

Thankfully, Sam didn't comment.

"It's just kind of weird," Sam said thoughtfully. "I mean…it's no secret Gold hates me. I can't really see him being too torn up about being unfair about suspending me. I wonder why he changed his mind like that."

She looked up at Freddie, almost as if she knew already what he had done.

Freddie sighed. "I-I may have gone to talk to him after you left school," he admitted.

"But why would you do that?" Sam asked softly. "You're Freddie Benson. You never do anything against teachers. Besides, I thought you'd have enjoyed having a few days at school where no one stole your tater tots at lunch."

"Because," Freddie said simply. "Like I said, you don't just cause me emotional pain. There's a whole lot more that you make me feel."
Sam looked down at her lap.

"Well…thanks," she said quietly. "That-That means a lot. It really does."
