Chapter 12

"So, you knew that the Masters of Evil have reformed their group and taken over Avengers Mansion, but why," Captain America asked.

"To get to us," Tony replied in frustration, "and it worked!"

"Yes, but why now? And how did they get in? I do not believe Jarvis, with all his military training, would just let them in. Besides, we were all fighting them at the time, I know I'm old fashioned, but I don't think they can be in two places at once," Captain America reasoned.

"Uh guys," Jan called, "I think you should see this."

The two men looked up and walked over to where Jan was watching the news. The news reporter was downtown, not far from Stark Towers, where they were now. Downtown seemed to be getting torn apart by a group of people none of the Avengers had seen before.

"Yes Chris, thank you…As you can see, I am downtown and the scene is chaos. About ten minutes ago this group showed up and started tearing apart our town. No one knows why these people have come, or what they want…"

"Avengers ASSEMBLE," Ironman called.

Before any of them could jump up and jump into action, a giant, green vine like plant wrapped itself around Stark Towers, blocking their exit. A woman standing on the plant stepped into the tower and smirked at them.

"You must be the almighty Avengers," she laughed a cold and seductive laugh. "Well, Avengers, we have taken your city, and have not come to receive your surrender!"

"Well, get in line honey, cause there are lots of people that want that, and none of them have gotten it yet," Wasp challenged.

The woman laughed, "We are the Injustice League, and since you don't wish to give in, I suppose we should give you a taste of our power," and with that, nine more people came charging in.

Tony pressed a button on his wrist and his full armor came on, and not a moment too soon. Just as soon as it was on, a green beam of light came flying at him. He blocked but the second one caught him off guard and knocked him down.

Janet shrank down to her small size and came flying forward, just as a woman glad in black and red swung a huge mallet at her. She flew up missing the hammer and smirked, sticking her tongue out at the woman with the hammer. She then shot some of her stingers at the girl, she was so busy shooting at the girl with the hammer that she didn't see the clown behind her until it was too late. He smacked his hands together, smashing Wasp in his hands and watching her drop to the floor, regaining her normal size.

"Pesky bugs," Joker laughed as he crouched down next to Wasp, who was passed out at the moment.

"JANET," Antman called out, turning to run to her aid.

"Ah, wait right there handsome, where do you think you are going? I need a dance partner," a woman said smirking and blocking his way to his partner, and possibly girlfriend, he and she hadn't quite made it official, but they still cared about each other deeply.

"Get out of my way," he growled, shoving her aside so he could help Janet out.

"Morgan Le Fey will not be ignored," the woman said moving her hands, now glowing pink, and watched with a smirk as Antman began to dance.

Captain America tossed his shield and watched as it cut down more of the woman's weeds, which seemed to have no end. He looked over to see how his other team mates were doing in their own fights and see who needed help. Hulk seemed to be holding his own against some kind of monkey and some sort of guy that was flying. Black Panther was fighting some man in black and orange, both of them holding their own, Ironman seemed to be tangled with another man in a suit and some other man dressed as a…scarecrow, well, that was new. Cap tossed his shield again, cutting down more weeds, it seemed Wasp was the one in need of the most help right now.

He caught his shield again and headed for Wasp when a blast of something cold stopped him. What was happening? He couldn't move his feet for some reason and he had just been moving a moment ago, before the blast of cold had hit him. He looked down and saw there was a thick coating of ice around his feet. He took his shield and started to chiseled away at the ice. He looked up to check on his fallen team mate and only saw a big bunch of weeds, he had to make a choice.

He gave up and tossed his shield at the weeds that were headed right for him. The shield had no more then left his hands when he realized that tossing it was a mistake. As soon as his shield was out of his hands, he felt the sting of the cold again. He looked down and saw that the ice had moved up from his feet and was at his knees and slowly moving up. He looked up to find the source and what he saw was what looked like a blue man, with some sort of gun in his hand, moving closer. It wasn't long before Cap was frozen to his shoulders and he frowned, 'Not this again' he thought to himself, well, he had survived being frozen once before, he could do it again…hopefully.

Just then the weed woman walked up to him, holding his shield, and smirked, "They say you are invulnerable to everything, but I bet you're not," she said in a purr.

He looked up and saw Wasp waking up. He needed to help her, not waste time with this weed woman. Before he could say anything more though, he was kind of frozen in place, the woman leaned in and kissed him deeply on his lips. Cap blinked in surprise.

Meanwhile Wasp was just waking up. She groaned and reached up for her head, which hurt like crazy. Before she had a chance to stand up, the clown man from earlier, the one who had knocked her out, bend down and got in her face.

"Aww, did the little bug get hurt," he asked with a chuckle, "well, good ol' Doc Joker has just the thing for you, little bug." He smirked and reached for the flower on his jacket. She raised her eyebrow at him just as a purple smoke came out and into her face. She coughed and without knowing why, she suddenly broke out into chuckles.

"See, laughter's the best medicine you can get, isn't that right Harls," he asked turning to the girl dressed in black and red.

"Right-a-rooney Mistah Jay," she replied.

Meanwhile Ironman had been backing up to help Wasp too when he was hit by a stray beam of green light, and knocked to his feet. Before he had a chance to get back up, the scarecrow man had gotten on top of him.

"What's your greatest fear," the man asked with a truly evil grin as he sprayed Ironman with some sort of dust.

"Lets go," called the plant woman, "Zemo said we've done enough," she smirked. "To think, I thought they would be an actual challenge," and as quickly as they had come, they left.

Ironman stood up to access the damages. Wasp was laughing, and she couldn't seem to stop. Cap was frozen up to his shoulders, and Antman seemed to be stuck dancing, but it seemed that Black Panther and the Hulk were okay.

Ironman followed Black Panther over to where Captain America stood, literally frozen in place. When he got a little closer look, he noticed that Cap looked paler then usual. Black Panther began slashing away at the ice, and slowly, it began to fall away.

"Ironman, why don't you go check on Wasp or Antman, I can handle things here," Panther commented lightly as he continued to slash away at the ice.

Ironman nodded and walked over to where Hank was still dancing next to Janet who still seemed to be laughing. He looked back and forth, not sure who to help first, or how to help.

"Help Janet," Antman panted, clearly getting tired from all the dancing.

"What about you," Tony asked with concern.

"I'm fine, help Janet," he insisted, so Tony nodded and bent down to where Janet was rolling back and forth, laughing, not sure how he could help.

Slade returned with the rest of the Injustice League. He had only spent a small amount of time with them, long enough to let these Avengers know they were here and that they were a threat, and he was already sick of his new "teammates." He sighed, maybe he could go work on training the boy.

He walked to the room where he had locked Robin in and pulled out his keys. He had not only locked Robin in, but had also taken his belt and locked it securely away. When he opened the door, he found Wintergreen hogtied and gagged and let out a frustrated snarl. He quickly untied and ungagged Wintergreen.

"What happened," Slade demanded!

"Well, you were gone and the Masters of Evil were not too worried about feeding the boy, so they said if I was so worried about him, I could feed him. I came in and the boy was waiting to ambush whoever came in. He used the ropes you had used to restrain him to tie me up. Then he took my keys, got his belt, and took off through the air vents. I'm really sorry Sir," Wintergreen said.

"The boy will go after the butler," Slade muttered as he called Amora annoyed. "You let the boy get free while I was doing YOUR work!"

"We'll sound the alarm," she said equally annoyed.

Robin crawled through the vent system. At first he felt bad for ting up the old man, but quickly shoved it away. The man was bad, Robin reasoned, after all, he was working for this lot. Robin smiled as he found the right vent, opened it and dropped in with a smile.

"Alfred," he said gleefully as a huge grin crossed his face.

Alfred stood and turned to face the younger boy, "Master Robin?"

"I came to bust us both out of course," Robin replied as if it were the most obvious thing ever.

"Master Robin, you must get out of here, they will come looking for you. You must get out of here," Alfred said in a worried voice.

"I'm not leaving without you," Robin replied stubbornly as an alarm sounded.

"Master Robin, you must go now! I will be fine! GO! You can always come back for me later, now go," Alfred said with worry as he shoved Robin back to the air vent.

"Alfred, I…" Alfred said with worry.

"Go! I will be fine, they still need me," Alfred replied giving Robin another shove.

Robin hesitated, and then, "I will come back for you," Robin vowed as he climbed back into the air vent and closed it behind him.

Joker, Slade, and Zemo burst into Alfred's room not long after Robin's departure. Alfred and Jarvis looked up when they entered.

"Alright, where is he," Zemo demanded!

"Where is who," Jarvis asked before returning to the book he had been reading.

"We were not talking to you," sneered the Joker, walking over to Alfred and snatching him by the collar. "Where is he old man!"

"Where is who," Alfred asked calmly.

"The BOY," Slade said in a menacing tone, "Where is ROBIN! He would not have left without seeing and freeing you!"

"I'm sorry, but Master Robin is not here," Alfred replied calmly.

Slade let out a frustrated growl and slapped him hard across his face. If Joker had not had Alfred's shirt collar, it would have sent him flying. As it was, there was a fresh cut on his face and it was now bleeding.

"The boy has not been here," Jarvis quickly added, "I would have seen him too."

"Fine," Slade said through gritted teeth, jerking Alfred free of Joker's grasp. "Then I guess you'll have to come with us," he said pulling Alfred with him out the door.
