One of the few things that Tsuna recognized as he came into consciousness was his alarm clock blaring in his ear. His body shot up and he scrambled to grab some clothes and stuff a piece of bread in his mouth before shooting past the demon sitting at his table and out the door. A moment passed and he backtracked, opening the door, walking back in slowly, and shutting it again. Tsuna was silent, staring at the demon who stared at him with those unblinking charcoal orbs, a faintly amused look on his face. The bread fell from his mouth and fell to the floor in a slightly damp mess.

"I'm not cleaning that up."

Tsuna then proceeded to faint.

When he awoke for the second time, the first thing he noticed was that the demon had indeed not been lying, and the mushy bread was still on the floor. Dragging dull caramel eyes upwards, they met Reborn's own, and Tsuna's body stiffened at the smirk on the demon's lips. His hand rose to eye level and his eyes trailed each individual marking that covered his index finger, disbelief evident.

"So I," He paused and took a beat, breath shallow, "I actually did it."

The demon lifted his head, gazing at the ceiling before he turned his unwavering gaze back to Tsuna. He said nothing.

"I-I guess we best u-um," his stumbled over his words, "head to… class?"

The demon said nothing in return and simply stood, jamming his hands in his pant pockets nonchalantly. Dark eyes probed Tsuna's small form and critically watched his skittish behavior. Reborn followed Tsuna closely, the brunet himself nervously wringing his hands. Most students had already gone to their class which had been in session for who knows how long at this point. Tsuna didn't bother to check the clock. If he hadn't been checking behind his back at every given chance, he would have assumed the demon left, considering how silent he walked. The rest of the trek to his class was consumed in silence.

There he was, his fate resting beyond the door that stood in front of him. But Tsuna didn't want to open the door, his nerves bundling up in his stomach. "M-maybe this isn't a good idea," he trailed off, biting the side of his lip. His feet unconsciously took a step back when he hit the back of Reborn's chest, two rough hands wrapping around his biceps in return. A silent squeal fell from his lips before he could silence it and suddenly melted caramel met ink.

"Are you frightened?" Those dark eyes flashed and the faint quirk of the demon's lips sent an odd feeling into Tsuna's gut. His body tensed and his eyes narrowed, determination pushing his anxiety aside.

He swallowed his stutter but did not answer, only pushing open the door to greet the awaiting damnation he assumed was awaiting him. All heads turned to him, including the teacher, and all eyes drifted from him to the man behind him.

"Holy shit, who's that?"

"There's no way he can be with Tsuna…"

"Yeah, no way can he be with that no good-"

In an instant, the student that uttered those last words was pushed up against the wall in a flurry of black and gold. Pitch black eyes flashed dangerously and canines gleamed in the lights that began to flicker. "It would do you well not to utter such disgraces towards him," he purred lowley, backing away with a deadly grace. Hands back in pockets as he was back behind Tsuna in an instant, said male gazing down at the floor with a flush on his cheeks, eyes anywhere but his class.

The silence remained until the teacher cleared his throat, attempting to ignore the beast in a human's skin behind the small male. "Sawada, what is this?"

Tsuna met the teacher's eyes, a shaky smile on his lips. "I," he paused and swallowed the lump in his throat, "I had a successful summon." His whisper of a voice barely met the teacher's ears.

His eyebrows shot up and the teacher shot a look at the demon before sighing heavily, "I'll have to talk to the headmaster about this, but in the meantime," he gestured into the room the faintest of smiles on his lips, "take your seat, please."

Reborn only watched scrutinizingly as the various students continued to steal glances at him. If they had a demon of their own, it cowered from him - which made him let out a dark chuckle.

The class passed quickly as Tsuna mulled around in his thoughts and before he knew it, the signal to end class was announced and as usual, Tsuna darted out. A tight grip around his collar halted him in his sprint before he was able to round the corner. He met dark eyes staring back at him. "Uh-uhm," he audibly stammered, stiffening. Reborn said nothing, only pulling Tsuna behind him by the scruff of his neck like some kind of dog until they were in one of the unpopulated classrooms. Those dark eyes that were becoming too familiar drilled into him, scrutinizing Tsuna's entire being.

"How are you not dead?"

"Hah?" Tsuna's eyebrows shot upwards and he blinked at the creature before him. "Wh-what," his voice cracked painfully before he cleared his throat, "what do you mean? Why would I be…" Dead. He didn't have the guts to say it. Nerves bundled in his chest at the burning stare directed at him.

Reborn tilted his chin upwards, eyes trained on the mortal that stood before him. His head tilted before he leaned in close to the boy, hand gripping his lower jaw, sharp nails digging into the soft skin. He felt invisible flames flare up around the boy in his defense as a response to his fear. Reborn flared his own but it hardly affected the other's own. "Interesting," he murmured, eyes folding until they were half-lidded. He leaned back and straightened himself, watching as the amber glaze over Tsuna's eyes faded, the calm that had entered him leaving as fast as it came.

"Wh-what was that?" His voice increased a few pitches in fear, breath quickening.

A sickening smile crossed Reborn's lips, watching as the last traces of fire retreated back into the human. "Just me realizing this will be a lot more than I thought it would be."

"A lot more what, though?" Tsuna winced as the demon flicked his forehead in response. "That doesn't answer my question." He attempted a glare.

Reborn merely let his grin widen.

When Tsuna got called to the headmaster's office for the second time in the past week, he began to stress. Didn't I do as he wanted? I summoned and made a contract, so why would he need to see me again?

Reborn followed him silently, his own mind elsewhere. The two approached those large double doors that Tsuna had learned to hate after all the time he had gone to this school. He stood in front of them for a moment, contemplating running and hiding. In the end, he pushed them open, a grimace, not unlike the time he had been in the room a day or so earlier, on his lips. The door slammed behind him, and he turned to the demon behind him for reassurance for him to be missing. His heart skipped a beat.

A faint sensation brushed across his legs and when he looked down he saw the faint shadow of the tall creature. When Tsuna noticed the darkness coalesced around his ankles was when he realized the demon was hidden in his own shadow. Tsuna made a noise and turned his attention back to what he assumed to be the center of the room.

He really didn't understand why they had to make it so cliche, shadows enunciated from each corner, barely any light escaping into the room. It would make him laugh any other time.

"Tsunayoshi." Simply the mention of his name sent a shudder up his spine, the only thing that kept him able to stand the room this time was the reminder that he wasn't a failure drifting around his ankles. "I have heard that you were able to finally perform a successful summoning. Is this correct?"

Tsuna swallowed his hesitancy and attempted to speak bravely despite the waver he could feel in his words. "Yes." That single word held all of his achievement and all of his hope.

"And where is this summon?"

The darkness that shifted around him like mist rose up and took shape, the same tall and dashing figure that he had seen all day separated from the shadow like it was his home. He flicked up the fedora that rested gingerly on his head, sharp eyes staring at wherever the headmaster was. Tsuna couldn't tell where those dark eyes that blended into the shadow were looking. "Here."

A long silence followed, Tsuna tensely watching the demon next to him and where he assumed the headmaster was. It was only after a few more excruciatingly long moments that Tsuna heard him speak again. "You may leave Tsunayoshi." Curtly nodding his head, Tsuna bumbled out the door, Reborn following. When the brunet stepped out, the doors were shut, darkness surrounding Reborn who remained in the room. He cooly let his gaze drift back to the room, carefully watching the darkness around him. His relaxed stance did not let up. "What exactly is someone like you doing here?" Reborn did not miss the suggestion in his voice. This man knew who he was.

Reborn smirked, head lolling with half-lidded eyes. "Just playing around."

He felt flames flare up around him, most likely from the others that remained silent and hidden in the dark room. "See to it that your playing around does not harm my students, Reborn."

His smirk widened, eyes with it. A dark, deep chuckle fell from his lips before he could even bother to stifle it. The demon winked, his body fading into the shadows before the headmaster's eyes. "No promises."

Sorry that this was so short.
