Chapter 30

Thanks for reading this story. Thanks to Fangirling007 for her review. So, I've watched the series 2 trailer of the Musketeers, and I just cannot wait to watch and to write new adventures for Emma. So this chapter is short but it's just two snippets of moments between Emma and Athos. I'll try to put more in the next chapters. Thanks to all the followers and the who favourited this story.

New Chapter, read, enjoy and review.

"Petit Lord was happy to see you today." I said to Athos as we walked back to the garrison together this evening.

"He's a fine little boy." Athos replied.

"And he's growing up so fast." I sighed. The streets were almost deserted; the moon was almost up in the sky. Athos grabbed my hand and put it in the crook of his arm. I smiled at the gesture. "You know, he asked if you and I were to marry."

"And what did you answer?" Athos questioned.

I stopped walking and exhaled deeply. "What would you have me answered?" I questioned. "I can't say yes because you are still married to Anne."

"And if I wasn't married to Anne?" Athos asked me.

"But you are and there's nothing we can do about it." I replied taking my hand off his arm and walking away from him. He grabbed my elbow and turned me around to face him.

"Would you marry me if I wasn't married to Anne?" Athos asked seriously.

"Do you really want an answer?" He nodded. "You might not like it."

"Tell me."

"If you weren't married to Anne and if we have been in this relationship a bit longer, I would say yes, in a blink of an eye." I sighed. "But you are married to Anne and we have just started this relationship."

"Anne is no longer a part of my life, be sure of this." Athos cupped my cheek. "And I'll give you the time you need. I am a patient man." He leaned in and kissed me lightly on the lips.

"That was the most stupid thing you've ever done, Athos!" I yelled at the musketeer. Aramis was tending to him.

"What would you have me do?" He asked.

"I don't know but I certainly did not expect you to throw yourself in harm ways." I crossed my arms over my chest. "And now look at you."

"He will be fine, Emma. You don't need to worry." Aramis tried to reassure but I was having none of it.

"Worry? You think that I'm worried?" I shrieked. "I am furious at his stupidity."

"Emma, I'm a musketeer. I'm supposed to protect the people of France." Athos said calmly. I huffed before going out of the room. I was met with the amused stare of Porthos and D'Artagnan. "Oh, keep quiet!" I grumbled. I went to the stables and brushed my horse to calm myself. Aramis was right, I was worried. The woman, he has just saved offered to give us shelter for the night. It was her way to thank us for helping her. I thought I lost him and yet, I knew it was nothing. He wasn't mortally wounded, he was safe. A hand on mine stopped my movement.

"Emma!" Athos said in a tired voice. "You have nothing to fear. I am still here." I turned around to face him.

"I know. I know but do you always have to risk your life this way?" I questioned.

"You and I are musketeers, Emma. Our lives are always at risk." I knew he was right. "Don't you think I feel the same when you're putting your life in danger?"

"Oh, I know." I smiled coyly remembering the time when he slept on a chair by my side.

"Are you calm now?" Athos put his valid hand around my waist.

I nodded. "Still, you are an infuriating man."

"And you a bloody idiot." I slapped him on his shoulder and he groaned in pain.

"Sorry!" I said sheepishly. I kissed him and within seconds the kiss grew passionate.

Happy New Year 2015, I wish you have a wonderful year.
