Light sipped through my window waking me up. I moved to roll on my back but I was blocked by the arm of a really handsome musketeer. Athos slept in here last night, it was innocent. I assure you. We are together and in love and yet we haven't shared a bed. We just slept next to each other. It's not that I didn't want to make love. I was burning with desire for this man and I know he was burning with the same passion for me. I was just afraid, I've never knew such love. I wasn't ready. And we have been in this relationship for three months now. Athos was true to his word, he has been gentle and patient with me.

Athos was only wearing his shirt and trousers and I was wearing my nightgown. I turned in to his arms and Athos stirred up and without opening his eyes, he rolled on his back. I placed my arm around his torso and I laid my head on his chest.

"I can get use to this." I whispered sighing happily. Athos hummed his agreement. He ran his hand up and down my arm that was around his torso. And like everytime he touches me shivers ran down my spine and there was this warm and fuzzy feeling that was spreading in my lower stomach. "We should probably get off of the bed."

"I disagree. I think we shall stay here." Athos turned his head towards and smiled his crooked smile.

"For what reason?" I asked him smirking.

"For I want to enjoy the company of this beautiful woman by my side." Athos rolled on top of me. My legs slightly parted under him and Athos nestled between my legs. My heart was swelling with love. "You are torturing me woman."

"I know and I'm sorry for this, my love." I put my arms around his neck and brought his face down to mine and I kissed his nose. "I promise you that I will only be yours and yours alone."

"Mine" He kissed me languorously. "And mine alone."

Thanks to the rain, I was soaking wet. I rode to a barn nearby to find shelter and waited here for the rain to stop. I was supposed to meet Catherine midway from Paris to Bordeaux. She wanted me to accompany her for a pilgrimage. I agreed to go with her, I even abandoned my usual clothing to wear a dress. But now it was impossible for me to go. I had to wait for the rain to stop. Hours passed by and the rain turned quickly into a storm. "Just great!" I mumbled shivering. I hanged my clothes to dry, keeping the light white gown on. The barn was abandoned but starting a fire wouldn't be clever. I rubbed my hands up and down my arms to warm me a little bit but it wasn't really efficient.

I was freezing now, pacing up and down the barn still rubbing my arms and the rain didn't want to stop. I stopped immediately when I heard horses' hooves approaching the barn. I went to take my pistol and pointed it towards the entrance. A cloaked man walked in.

"Who are you?" The man raised up his hands and took off his hat and uncovered his face. "Athos!" I lowered my pistol. "What are you doing here?"

"Catherine is at the garrison." He walked up to me and rummaged through a bag I didn't see he has before, "She was worried for you." He took out a large sheet and threw it over my shoulders. "And I came to look for you."

"Was she the only to be worried for me?" I asked as Athos tightened the sheet around my shoulders.

"That's why I came, Emma." Athos replied brushing my hair behind my ear. "Are you alright?"

I nodded. "Just a bit cold. But I'm better now." I pecked his lips. "You should let your clothes dry. Otherwise you'll catch a cold."

Once Athos got rid of his wet clothes and after I hanged them to dry. We sat down on the ground together close to each other. I passed the thick sheet around his shoulders. The horses have been put in a corner of the barn, there were some haystack left. We gave some to the horse and we used what was left to make up a bed.

"What do we do now?" I asked Athos.

"We wait for the storm to calm down and we'll go back to the garrison." A shiver ran down my spine. "Are you cold?" Athos asked me passing his arms around my shoulders and rubbing my arm.

"No." I shook my head feeling the heat in my cheek and down my neck. "And you're not helping the situation." I mumbled.

"What do you mean?" I could feel his hot breath against my cheek.

"I mean I'm shivering because of you not because of the cold. You being here is bringing me comfort." I stared at him, really looked at him. This man for whom I felt so much love were driving me crazy at times and yet I don't regret one minute of it. And if I had to do it all over again, I will. "I love you so much, Athos. I love you so much that I'm not able to breathe without you. And sometimes it scares me how much I need you. And…" The words died down in my throat, any thoughts of what I was about to say fled my mind as Athos' lips sought out mine in a passionate kiss. His hand cup my cheek and slowly we leaned back. Athos was on top of me and my legs parted slightly. My arms went around his neck while his hands were exploring every inch of my skin. The warm and fuzzy feeling were back in my lower stomach. We pulled away breathless.

"I love you, Emma." And this time I kissed him. And what happened next is between Athos and me, but if you really want to know. Athos made me his and I made him mine.
