Okay, so I would say that this is a filler chapter, but that would be a lie. There are a couple plot-significant things, so hey. It works.
This update is earlier than I planned for it to be; but I wanted to get it out there because I'm eager for the next chapter.

Quick note if you've been reading this: I've updated the first three chapters; adding and removing some content; so please make sure to reread some of them; at least chapter one, since that has the most plot-significant things edited (and some parts of chapter 3) I also edited spelling and grammar in chapter four; so if you'd like, have a look-see, at least so that you don't miss out on anything.
I also made a new cover photo for the story; yay!

-Kiss with a fist by Florence and the Machine (it's a really fun song, and the music video is just as fun)

08: Superheroes and Bonding

"Excuse me miss, do you need some help?"

Dana spun around, only to see Sam, in a suit, and smiling at her. "Oh, I don't know. Have you seen my boyfriend? He's supposed to walk me to class." she stated with a sigh. "Well miss, I'm sure that wherever he is, he's looking good." Sam stated proudly. Dana started laughing and she deposited her math books into her locker, closing it and turning to look at Sam.

"I take it this is for that Superhero club that you joined?" she asked. Sam nodded happily. "What do you think?" he asked, striking a pose. Dana smiled. "You look good." she said, leaning up to peck his lips. Sam smiled goofily and wrapped an arm around Dana's shoulders as they started toward her math class.

"You know...you could still join." he stated. Dana chuckled. "I love superheroes and all, but I don't think it's my thing, to wear spandex like that." she stated. Sam let out a slight scoff. "Oh come on; you don't have to wear spandex, you know!" he stated.

Dana looked at him, an eyebrow raised. "Name one female superhero that doesn't wear spandex." she stated. Sam let out a hum. "Well...Supergirl doesn't. She has the skirt. Cyclone also wears a skirt, and I think she has leggings? Jenny Sparks, Dust, America Chavez, Anya Corazon..."

Dana slapped her hand over Sam's mouth. "Okay, okay; I get your point." she stated, a slight blush across her cheeks. "I swear, there are times I regret telling you about some of those comic book characters, Sam." she said with a huff. Sam let out a chuckle as Dana removed her hand from covering his mouth. "Come on, let's get to Glee Club rehersal." she added, a smile on her face.

Sam grabbed her hand. "I would be more than happy to escort you there, my lady." he stated. Dana let out a giggle as they started walking down the hall.

As the rest of the Glee Club walked out of the Choir room, Dana smiled at Sam. "I'll meet you by your truck, okay? I want to talk to Finn really quick." She said. "Do you want me with you?" Sam asked. Dana shrugged. "Stay if you want, it shouldn't take too long."

Dana walked over to Finn, who smiled at her. "Hey Dana." he said. "Finn, I need to talk to you." Dana stated with a low sigh. "What's up?" Finn asked, setting down the sheet music he had previously held in his hands.

"I'm...worried about Marley. I think she might be getting overly stressed about Sectionals." Dana said. "Now that you say that, I've kinda noticed that also." Sam stated. Finn let out a sigh and scratched his head. "So what are you thinking, Dana? I know you wouldn't have come to me about this unless you had some sort of idea." he stated. Dana chuckled, and rubbed the back of her neck. "Uh, well...what if we came up with a back up plan? Like, a back up routine for the seniors to sing, just in case something does happen?"

Finn let out another sigh and bit his lip, looking back at the sheet music he had placed on the piano. He looked at Dana. "...what songs were you thinking?"

Dana's face lit up and Sam let out a chuckle as she started talking to Finn about her ideas.

"Hey Dana, can I talk to you?"

Dana turned to look at Tina and she smiled. "Of course, Tina. What's up?" she asked; shifting her math and science books to her other arm. Tina let out a chuckle. "I actually wanted to talk to you about the, ah; plan that you talked to Finn about."

Dana sat on the bench she was by, setting her books down on one side of her and patting the other side of her as a signal for Tina to sit beside her. "What's up girl?" she asked. Tina let out a sigh. "I just...I'm glad, that you did that." Tina said quietly. "The plan?" Dana asked, watching Tina nod. "As much...as I love Marley and the rest of the new kids, I just...I kind of worry about her. She's not only new to McKinley, but she's new to Glee club, and performing on stage and just...you can see that she's stressed." Tina said, letting out a sigh at the end. Dana let out a chuckle. "I kind of feel her pain. Not nearly as much as she does, but at least to the point with her never performin on stage. It's like, that feeling, combined with the fact that you're given a duet with one of the guys. All eyes are going to be on the two of you, and if you mess up just once, you'll never hear the end of it."

Tina smiled. "Let's just promise each other that we're going to do our best then. For Marley, and for the rest of the Glee club. Okay?" she asked. Dana smiled back at her. "Of course, Tina. You know, it's almost like you've gotten soft on me." she joked. Tina scoffed. "Oh please, Dana. You know that you're like, one of my really good friends. So of course I'm going to be a little bit soft around you." she said, playfully elbowing Dana's side; making her laugh. Dana then got a sneaky look on her face. "Hey, want to sing a duet in Glee club this week?" she asked. Tina grinned at her. "Of course I do. Did you even need to ask?"

As the Glee kids sat down, they had noticed one thing first; it being that as soon as they were all present and seated that Dana and Tina were on stools in front of the choir room. Finn walked into the room and clapped his hands. "So guys. Tina and Dana have a song they want to sing, and I figured, since this week is supposed to be about dueting and building bons with each other, that they could do it. So girls, I'll leave it to you."

He then proceeded to sit by Artie and Tina nodded at Skylar and the band, who got ready to play, and Dana started singing.

"You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate
Over my head
Then I set fire to our bed."

The music started playing and the girls stood up, taking in the surprised faced of their friends and smiled at each other as they sang together.

"You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap

You smashed a plate
Over my head
Then I set fire to our bed."

Tina then sang by herself.

"My black eye casts no shadow
Your red eye sees no blame
Your slaps don't stick
Your kicks don't hit
So we remain the same;"

Dana joined in, and they sang at each other; almost pretending to be angry.

"Blood sticks, sweat drips
Break the lock if it don't fit
A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none
Whoa;
a kiss with a fist is better than none."

As the girls sang, they danced and encouraged their friends to join in. Tina and Dana grinned and by the time they were done singing the song, the rest of the Glee club was laughing and cheering.

Finn chuckled and clapped. "What inspired you guys to sing that?" he asked, a lopsided smile on his face. Dana smiled. "We wanted to sing a fun song to try and get positive energy flowing in here." she said. "There's been a lot of fighting, and it's kind of a bummer. We're just hoping that all of that...animosity is set aside by Sectionals." Tina said with a shrug.

Dana stood on the stage as she and the rest of the Glee club sang Some Nights. She was dancing with Sam and Blaine; while Skylar had joined in this number and was dancing with Joe, Brittany and Artie. Tina soon joined him and Dana looked at Marley and Kitty; her eyes narrowing when she saw Kitty roll her eyes.

Just when she thought Kitty might have possibly been easing up. She'd definitely have to keep an eye on her. At least Marley was still keeping her distance.

As the group finished singing, Dana looked out to see a big, dorky smile on Finn's face. He stood up and clapped. "You guys, that was amazing! We are ready for Sectionals!" he stated proudly; those few words sending the club into cheers and laughter. Dana hugged Sam and Blaine and they both laughed; returning the group hug and Dana smiled at them. "We've got this, you guys."
