Kaitlyn awoke with a gasp. She was wet, very wet. Had it rained while she and Pit were asleep? No, that couldn't have been it. Everywhere else was dry. It was just her. She was covered in sweat.

The girl pulled her legs up to her chest and buried her face in her arms. Get out of my head, get out of my head…She said this over and over to herself, hoping and praying that the images would leave her mind. But she couldn't shake them. They were engraved and branded into her brain.

"My, you certainly are a mess, aren't you?"

"Eris," Kaitlyn growled. She stood up and turned quickly around the face the goddess, who leaned against a tree. Her entire figure was visible, which was odd because of the lack of intense moonlight. But she herself seemed to glow.

Kaitlyn shook her head. "Are you the one who's making me see these things?"

Eris shook her head, a small smile on her face. "Oh no, that's not me. Of course, it would have been fun to do that, but honestly, your mind is in such chaos already that you don't need me to help."

The young woman swallowed hard, tugging at her hair, which was already matted and dirty. "So you're not manipulating me?"

"No," Eris said slowly, sounding slightly disappointed. "I don't even think it's Mnemosyne. Your memories and anger are just from you. You're making yourself angry. And when you get angry, you attack. You certainly put on a show earlier today with those trees and that lightning nymph."

"It's not my fault!" Kaitlyn hissed loudly. She shot a glance at Pit, who was still curled up and asleep, oblivious to the confrontation what was going on. The blonde looked back to the woman in red. "I'm not choosing to remember these things!"

Eris nodded, her eyes narrowing. "Yes, that's true. But if you don't figure out a way to stop it soon, this game will be no fun at all. So I advise you to figure out your problem and fix it."

"I already know what it is," Kaitlyn snapped.

"Then fix it soon, or you'll be dead. Remember, five days left." With that, Eris turned around and disappeared into the undergrowth and shadow.

Kaitlyn took a deep breath and sat back down. Why had Eris visited her? Was she trying to mess with Kaitlyn's mind and hadn't been able to? Or was she watching to make sure the two of them actually did what she wanted and played her little game? Either way, she was right. If Kaitlyn couldn't figure out a way to control herself, she was going to be a burden to the mission, and Eris was going to win.

Kaitlyn stretched herself back out on the ground, trying to get comfortable. But the ground was lumpy and hard and after her conversation with Eris, she honestly didn't feel like sleeping. She tightened her jacket around her and slid closer to Pit. She could hear his slow breaths and tried to think of what he might be dreaming. She hoped his thoughts were peaceful.

She needed his strength, because if he wasn't at full strength, there was no way she would be. Pit seemed to be a beacon in her life. Of course, she didn't need him there all the time, but his smile and laugh were enough to make her smile even on her toughest days. And they had only been getting harder.

Then fix it soon, or you'll be dead.

Kaitlyn squeezed her eyes shut and clutched herself harder. She needed to find a way to get rid of these flashbacks, or she was going to be easily taken out by Eris. She had to be at full strength.

I'm not afraid of you, I'm not afraid of you, I'm not afraid of you…

"Think we can find a place to shower soon?" Pit asked, looking himself up and down as they flew along the updrafts. "I feel incredibly gross."

Kaitlyn shot him a look that said Don't you even start…But she still held up the map and narrowed her eyes. "Well, we could stop in Chicago for the night if we finish in Macomb tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's too far to make in one day from here, so we'll have to sleep on the ground or something tonight, unless Nighthawk can get us booked in at a hotel or something."

Pit raised his eyes to the sky. "You head that, Nighthawk? Hotel reservations? That would be nice!"

Suddenly, Pit heard a small buzzing and then a happy tune emanated from his jacket. He curiously stuck his hand into his pocket, and pulled out his phone. The caller ID said "Angel Land."

Pit laughed and flipped the phone open. "Um, hello?"

"And a good morning to you too, Pit!" Nighthawk's voice was rather cheery, albeit a bit loud. "How was your time with Viridi?"

Pit looked for a moment at Kaitlyn before focusing back on his phone. "Oh, it was great! Um, she gave us some good information and we're off to find the first apple piece right now."

"Oh good! So, where is the first piece?"

"In someplace called The Air Force Academy, in the state of Colorado, somewhere in America. Yeah, I don't know what that is either, but Kaitlyn apparently does, so she's kind of in the lead right now."

He could imagine Nighthawk giving his serious nod. "Sounds good. If you need anything, call me up."

"How about reservations to a hotel?"

There was a long pause on the other end of the line. "Um…that would be complicated…"

Pit rolled his eyes. "I'm kidding, Nighthawk! But, you know, if you can make it work, we'd be very appreciative."

"I'll make a note of it. Over and out!"

Pit flipped the phone closed and stowed it back in his jacket. "What's new in Angel Land?" Kaitlyn asked.

Pit shrugged. "Nothing, so far, and no news is good news, right?"

"That's how the saying goes," she said with a nod. "Let's hope it stays that way." She paused for a moment and pointed downwards. "Looks like we're here."

Pit glanced down and was shocked to see an airplane not too far away from them, just slightly lower in altitude. "I really hope they can't see us. Think it'll come higher?"

"Doubt it," Kaitlyn said. "That's one of the gliders. They can only fly on the drafts. Unless we get some serious wind, it'll stay down here."

"How do you know so much about this place?" Pit asked as they continued through the air. He looked down warily at the plane, still convinced it would make a sudden move and spot the two angels. "I though you lived your whole life in Chicago."

"My aunt lives out here. I spent a summer with her once. My dad couldn't have been happier to let me go, so I spent a good long time in Colorado. It's a nice place, if a little dry and hot. But my aunt took me to the Air Force Academy to watch the planes one time, so I have vague memories of how it all works. We're going to have to get on the ground, though. This is government airspace and two large flying objects landing in the academy would be a little suspicious."

Pit raised an eyebrow. "So, how do we get in?"

"I didn't know you could drive."

Kaitlyn grinned. "What do you take me for, an idiot? Of course I can drive!"

Pit pulled out his backpack and looked through the contents of it. He hadn't had that much time to actually look at what Nighthawk had packed them, so when Kaitlyn had pulled out an ID card and a couple hundred dollars in cash, he had been absolutely surprised. His backpack had the same as Kaitlyn's: an ID card, stating that he was over 25 years old, about three hundred dollars in rolled up bills, and a whole lot of granola bars.

"I looked through it earlier," Kaitlyn explained as she pulled off the main road to a smaller one. "The fake IDs are the only reason I was able to rent a car."

Pit shot her a glance. "So, what you're saying is that this is all technically illegal?"

"Yep."

Pit rubbed his forehead and sighed. "Please tell me that we won't be arrested."

"With Nighthawk's magic? Of course not! Now hush, we're almost there."

The two of them drove underneath a few overpasses before pulling up to what looked like a booth. The man at the front looked hardly older than them, and was wearing a green camouflage jumpsuit and a hat to match. He nodded to Kaitlyn with a pleasant "good morning". Kaitlyn gave him a large smile and a "good morning" back. He held out his hand and Kaitlyn handed him her ID.

"Where are you off to this morning?" he asked.

"The airfield," Kaitlyn said cheerfully. "Or, you know, where you can park to watch the planes take off. My friend here has never been to the Academy, and we just flew in, so I wanted to show him."

The man scanned the ID for a moment, then said he was going to check their car, to which Kaitlyn said a quick okay and unlocked the doors.

Pit blinked in anxiety. "Kaitlyn," he hissed as the trunk to the car opened then shut. "What is going on?"

"They're checking for bombs and things like that," Kaitlyn said rather nonchalantly. "It's not unusual for them to check the car, especially if it's a rental or if you don't have a military ID."

The man came back and nodded to Kaitlyn, telling her where to go to park her car. Kaitlyn thanked him and drove on.

Pit let out a long breath. "That just seemed weird to me. And how the heck did you hide the guns?"

"Please, it happens all the time. This is a military school and a place where planes are kept. They want it to be totally safe. If anyone tried anything funny in here, they would easily be taken down. As for the guns," Kaitlyn reached down and pulled out her bag, "magic."

Their car sped past large planes that were on concrete stands, modeling them for all to see. Pit gaped at them as they passed by. The planes were massive, and all decorated differently. "Do humans actually fly in those?"

Kaitlyn nodded. "Specially trained ones do. You have to have your pilot's license and a lot of training. The school here is for people who want to join the Air Force, which is the United States' air military."

Pit turned back, narrowing his eyes. "Sounds like the perfect place for a hidden angel to be. Angels are accustomed to flying, so getting a chance to fly while in the Overworld must be pretty tempting."

The two continued onward through the campus, and Pit admired all of the model planes along the way. Rumbles from the air caused him to roll down his window and stick his head out. A small plane shot over his head, looking incredibly large. It soared over the car and touched down on the nearby runway. Pit gasped in amazement, and gave a little laugh. "This place is awesome!"

"It's big, though," Kaitlyn said. "So we'll have to come up with some plan to find the angel guy. Thankfully, school is still out, so all the students are gone, which means the angel will hopefully be easier to—."

"Stop the car."

"What?" Kaitlyn raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Pit pointed. "Because that kid over there has wings."

Kaitlyn did a double take and stared for a moment before focusing her attention back on the road. Pit continued to stick his head out of the window, staring out at the boy. He was only a blur due to their speed, but there was no mistaking the massive form coming off the boy's back. Those were wings.

Kaitlyn pulled off at the nearest parking lot. Pit leaped out of the car before Kaitlyn turned off the motor. He ran over to the airfield, where the boy stood. As he drew closer, he slowed down, trying to look at the boy without the boy noticing him. He didn't want to scare him.

The boy was short, lanky, and thin. He was wearing a thin, green t-shirt and a pair of long black shorts. His wings hung low, showing his relaxed attitude. They were beautiful and long, covered in black feathers and flecked with luminescent blue.

Kaitlyn came up next to Pit, pocketing her keys. "So," she whispered, "is that the angel we're looking for?"

"I think so," Pit said slowly.

Kaitlyn paused, looking at the angel, then raising an eyebrow. "He looks a little…young."

"Angels don't usually age much past eighteen or twenty, at least physically," Pit said slowly. "At least, that's what I thought. But Mr. Laurel was pretty old…"

"So basically you're saying that you get to be young and attractive forever."

"Yeah, basically."

Kaitlyn smiled and gave Pit a quick peck on the cheek. "I'm not complaining!"

Pit smiled, but turned to continue to watch the boy. He seemed to be focused on the gliders that were high up in the air. He didn't even turn to look at Pit or Kaitlyn, and Pit wasn't sure if he was just focused, or if he was ignoring them. Pit was pretty sure it was the former, because ignoring two people with wings didn't seem very likely. Still, if this kid had wings, maybe he wasn't so surprised after all.

Kaitlyn munched on her lower lip. "Okay, so how do we confront him? Just go up and say, 'hey, do you happen to have the piece of a golden apple that we could have?' It just seems a little weird."

"Yeah," Pit said slowly, running a hand through his hair as strands brushed up over his eyes. "Well, we could follow him home and steal it when he goes to sleep."

"Pit, we don't even know if he has the apple piece."

"He's an angel, Kaitlyn!"

Kaitlyn scrunched up her face. "So was Mr. Laurel, apparently, but as far as we know, he doesn't have one of the apple pieces."

Pit paused. "Well, that's true. But he's a special case. There wouldn't be a kid down here with angel wings. We would have heard about it. He's way too young, even with the way angels age. He's…different."

"Do you think Palutena made them always look young, or made their aging processes even slower?"

"She could have."

Kaitlyn crossed her arms, still looking slightly unnerved. "Okay, so what do we do then?"

"I'm still up for following him and stealing the apple."

"Pit, we can't just stalk the kid!"

"Says the girl who lied about her age to rent a car."

Kaitlyn shot him a guilty grin. "Okay, you got me there. But we still don't have a plan for how to get the—."

She was cut off as one of the planes came down and landed on the runway. Both of them raised a hand to their heads to keep their hair from being totally mussed. The plane slowed to a stop, and a couple of men brought around a ladder and set it up next to the cockpit. Out of the cockpit came a man, who made his way out awkwardly and stood by the plane, rubbing gown his own dark hair. Pit gaped and stared, eyes widening.

"Does he…" Kaitlyn paused. "Does he have wings too?"

Pit swallowed. "Y-yeah." It seemed nearly impossible, two angels on Earth in the same place. The one that had just come out of plane was obviously older than the boy, older than even Mr. Laurel. Pit blinked a few times. How was this angel that old? He wasn't elderly old, but he was certainly older than any other angel that Pit had seen before. But he was definitely an angel. There was no missing the massive brown and white wings. The humans didn't seem to notice at all, and walked right by him.

"So…now there are two of them," Kaitlyn said slowly. "This makes it a little more complicated."

Pit narrowed his eyes. "Maybe it's not. Look."

The two watched the young angel boy as he walked onto the runway and up to the man, giving him a large hug. The two seemed to be smiling and laughing, though Pit and Kaitlyn were too far away to hear any of their conversation.

Kaitlyn paused. "Is it just me or do they look like they're related?"

Pit nodded. "They do. And…they're looking over here."

Kaitlyn turned to look at them, and watched the older one point at both of them. His face was next to the boy's ear, and he seemed to be saying something to him. Pit blinked a few times. "Well…this is going to be awkward."

The two of them took a step back and waited as the two angels came towards them. Kaitlyn's hand gripped Pit's shoulder tightly, and she drew close to his ear. "Um, should we be just standing here, or should we be running?"

"Why would we run?" He hissed back.

"This just seems like an awfully odd place to be negotiating a piece of an enchanted apple."

"Well, sorry I couldn't find a place that's more normal."

They waited patiently for the two angels to walk over. The older angel was taller than Pit had originally thought. If they were side to side, Pit was pretty sure he would be taller than Lade Palutena. He was at least a head and a half taller than Pit, and two heads taller than Kaitlyn. His hair was dark brown, and the boy's was black with a big chunk of white in the front. The older one's face was rounded and pleasant, and the boy's was slightly more pointed. But their eyes were similar in shape and were both a warm brown color.

The older angel had a kind smile. "Good morning, you two!" He said cheerfully. "Do you like to watch the planes?"

Kaitlyn gave him a large smile, her eyes becoming wide and cheerful. Her whole presence made her look as though she had just been incredibly interesting in whatever the man was saying. "Oh yeah! I love the planes! They look so cool! How long have you been flying?"

The angel rubbed his neck with a firm hand. "A good few years now, I'd say. It's hard to remember, honestly. But for most of my life, I'll say that! By the way, my name is Merlin, and this is my son, Hayden."

They shook hands. Merlin's hand was large and rough, obviously well used. "I'm Pit, and this is my friend, Kaitlyn."

"Pleasure to meet you both," Merlin said warmly.

Kaitlyn gave a half smile. "So, I have to ask: were you named Merlin after the wizard?"

Merlin laughed, rubbing his neck again. "After the bird, actually. My mother had a thing with birds."

Pit turned and locked eyes with Kaitlyn, and gave her the tiniest of nods. "That's really interesting!" Pit said with an easy laugh. "She must have been an extraordinary woman."

"Oh, she was," Merlin said. "She had a way with nature that I can only dream of."

"What was your father like?"

Merlin shrugged. "I never knew him. I like to think he was also amazing, but I never actually met him." The man checked his watch and smiled. "I'd love to continue this conversation, but we're going to have to go somewhere else. They'll be sending up some more planes soon, and we won't be able to hear ourselves think, much less speak! Are you busy? We could grab something to eat at the visitor center."

"That sounds great!" Pit said with a grin. "We parked our car just over there. How about you lead us in yours? We're still getting used to the layout of this place."

"Sure thing!" Merlin said with a grin. "Come on, Hayden. We'll meet up with you two in a moment."

The two turned and both Pit and Kaitlyn let out visible sighs as the two angels walked away. "Well," Kaitlyn said slowly. "I was not expecting that."

"I wasn't either," Pit replied. "But what other choice do we have?"

"Pit," Kaitlyn said with a flat tone. "We were asked by a total stranger to go and get something to eat. Doesn't that just scream 'creepy' at you?"

"Not really. He seems nice."

Kaitlyn sighed and rubbed her eyes. "Fine. But you'd better bring your knives. Magic can only make my guns look like plastic toys, and even then it'd look weird to bring those into a visitor center of a military base."

"That's fine with me!"

Kaitlyn twirled the keys around her finger. "Fine then. But we're coming up with a game-plan on the way there, because I'm not going to be the one to ask the angel if he has a piece of a magical apple!"

Kaitlyn had forgotten how good fast food tasted.

She scarfed down the first burger, then took the French fries more slowly, savoring the salty, fried goodness. In Angel Land, she had been waiting what many people might call an athlete's diet. She had forgotten the taste of salt and butter. So now, she was getting as much as she could.

Pit eyed the food a little more skeptically, picking up his own burger and eying it suspiciously. He had gotten a salad on the side, which made Kaitlyn feel as though she were pigging out in comparison. Pit took a large bite, munching slowly and thoughtfully. In his little time on Earth, Kaitlyn was sure that Pit had had at least one hamburger. Maybe he was just so used to being such a health nut that the very thought of eating a hamburger made him nauseous. Still, he ate the burger, not having any trouble after that.

Kaitlyn munched on her fries, eying the two angels who sat across from her and Pit. Merlin was a massive figure next to his son, who was thin and hardly broad at all. Hayden kept shooting quick glances at both Pit and Kaitlyn, and eying their wings. His gaze rang along their feathered, bony appendages. He was probably unused to seeing any angel besides his own father. Kaitlyn gentle rustles her wings and watched as Hayden's eyes scanned the movement of her feathers. She gave an amused smile, and Hayden hurriedly looked away, obviously embarrassed.

Merlin wiped his face with a napkin, smiling at the two of them. At this point, the food court was relatively full. Kaitlyn was nervous about being together with two people she didn't know, especially without her weapons, which she had left in the car. But she knew Pit had his knives hidden in his jacket, so if the angels were really going to attack them, Pit and Kaitlyn would be able to defend themselves.

"So," Merlin said, leaning onto the table. "How did two little angels end up in Colorado of all places? Don't tell me Lady Palutena is ready to replace me already!"

Kaitlyn grinned at the man saying Palutena's name. Something about it gave her a sense of comfort.

Pit smiled and waved his hand. "I'm glad you recognize Palutena sent us."

"Who else would have?" Merlin said with a half-smile. "I can tell Palutena's magic when I see it. She put enough of them on me to let me live here in peace. I know her magic."

Kaitlyn gave a little laugh. "Man, Nighthawk's learned a lot from Palutena is he can make spells that rival hers."

Hayden narrowed his eyes. "Nighthawk? I don't remember him from your stories, Dad."

"You wouldn't know him," Pit clarified. "He was born long after you were assigned to the Overworld. He's now Lady Palutena's personal assistant. He sent us on the mission to find you."

Kaitlyn looked around. No one seemed to notice the conversation that was going on, though maybe it was too loud for anyone to hear. Kaitlyn more assumed it was magic, something that Nighthawk's rings had surrounded them in.

Merlin raised an eyebrow. "Does Lady Palutena know you're here?"

Pit and Kaitlyn looked at one another, sharing a quick glance. Pit pursed his lips and rubbed hand through his hair, the way he always did when he was nervous. "Have you…have you been having headaches lately?"

The brown-haired man leaned back in his chair, thinking for a moment. "No, not that I can think of. I haven't had a headache since I last did a barrel roll in my plane. It's definitely been a long time. Why do you ask?"

Kaitlyn tapped her fingers on the table. "We're going to assume that the name Eris means something to you."

Merlin's entire demeanor changed. His shoulders tensed, and eyes narrowed. His warm, brown gaze became hard and even thoughtful. His arms crossed over his chest and he took a long breath. "Eris…that's a name that I haven't heard in years. Hundreds of years in fact."

"How long have you been down here?" Pit asked. "You're older than the average angel."

"You can't be over forty years old," Kaitlyn said.

Merlin gave a small smile. "In human years, I'm probably around thirty-seven or so. In angel years, much, much older."

Pit paused for a moment, obviously a little confused. "But I know angels who are much older than you, and they still look, well, young."

Merlin rubbed his neck a little, leaning back to the table. He was obviously a little more at ease, but he still seemed a little awkward. "Well, in the Overworld, aging works differently, especially for non-mortal beings. All angels age slower than mortals do. Palutena's magic keeps the mortals ignorant to our age change, so I've been like this for a while." He paused and raised an eyebrow, drawing closer to the two angels. "If you're here mentioning Eris, then you must want this."

He reached into his shirt and pulled out a chain with a single charm dangling on it. It hung there, shining against the fluorescent lights. It could have easily been taken for a cheap, plastic Claire's charm, but Kaitlyn knew better. The charm was relatively large, about the length of a real apple. It honestly looked as though a quarter of an apple had been gilded.

Merlin pulled the chain over his head and set the necklace down on the table. "I've been keeping this thing for years. Everyone thinks it's some old heirloom passed down from my parents, and in a way, they're not wrong." His gaze darkened as his eyes met Pit's and then Kaitlyn's. "My entire reason for being on the Overworld was so that I could protect this thing from demons and Underworld monsters. I guess my job here is done now."

Pit glanced at Merlin then gently took the necklace and slipped it over his head. It didn't gleam any brighter, nor did it seem to do anything different at all, but Pit gave a deep sigh of relief. His shoulders seemed to relax a little bit, and his head lowered. "It feels heavy," he said slowly.

"Why do you think I ended up so big?" Merlin said with a little laugh. "The Apple of Discord is a heavy burden, and it'll only get heavier as you go on and collect more pieces. The chaos wants to get out and wreck order around it. You have to keep the pieces safe, and keep them on. If someone releases the energy, you'll need some serious magic to get it back inside. So watch them carefully."

"We will," Kaitlyn said, nodding seriously.

"I have to warn you, though," Merlin said quickly, "the other angels might not be as generous as I am."

Both Pit and Kaitlyn stopped in mid-rise and stared at Merlin. Even Hayden seemed a little surprised. Pit and Kaitlyn lowered themselves back down into their chairs, looking confusedly at Merlin. "Why wouldn't they?" Kaitlyn said slowly. "Wouldn't all the angels who were given apple pieces be just fine with giving them up to Palutena's angels if Eris is mentioned?"

Merlin rubbed his neck again. "The problem is, they might not all be alive."

There was a long pause. "Alive?" Pit said slowly, after a long moment.

"I was the youngest of the angels sent down to the Overworld, Pit. I was hardly able to fly. The others were all much older than I. Some of them may no longer be alive. At this point, you might have to deal with their children, or friends."

Kaitlyn lifted a finger. "Actually, that was going to be my next question. From what I know, and what I've heard, angels…well…angels can't," she paused for a moment and bit her lip. "Angels can't reproduce. So how do you have a son?"

Pit's face took on a very awkward expression and his eyes lowered and turned so he didn't look at Kaitlyn. The blonde girl felt her cheeks flush slightly, but she held her gaze with Merlin, whose own expression became rather warm and kind.

"In the Skyworld," he said, "you couldn't be more right. Palutena creates angels. They aren't born from mothers and fathers like mortals are. But I married a mortal woman. We were able to have children."

Kaitlyn sucked in a breath. Something sparked inside of her, but she hurriedly squashed it before it would show on her face. "Good to know," she said nonchalantly. She glanced at Pit. "We can still make some mileage if we leave now, seeing as we have the first piece."

"Where's your next stop?" Hayden asked. Kaitlyn shot him a look, surprised that he chose to speak up.

"Macomb, Illinois," Pit replied. "It's a small town. There's a large aura coming from there."

The boy smiled a little and lowered his gaze back down.

Pit stood and turned to look at Merlin. "If you start to have headaches, take it easy for a few days. In fact, don't go to work or anything. Just stay home."

"What exactly does Eris have right now?" Merlin's voice became low and serious. His eyes gleamed up at the two of them and his expression had darkened considerably. Palutena wouldn't have sent a set of young angels to collect the Apple of Discord from the Overworld. Eris is devious and a big deal, but the only way you two would be here now is if she did something serious."

"She captured Mnemosyne," Pit said quickly. "Without her, everyone will lose all of their memories. So we have to finish off Eris in order to restore balance. The higher-up gods will feel the effects first, then the angels, and then mortals."

"So Lady Palutena—."

"Is completely out of commission," Kaitlyn finished. She turned to look at her partner. "Pit, we really need to head out if we're going to make it to Macomb tomorrow and find the angel."

Pit nodded slowly, but he still turned back to Merlin and dipped his head. "Thank you for your generosity and your cooperation. We'll let Lady Palutena know about your whereabouts after all of this is over and contact you again." He gave a wide smile to Hayden. "We'll be in contact after we defeat Eris."

Hayden gave a small nod, but didn't really look either of them in the eye.

They said their goodbyes, and Pit and Kaitlyn left the visitor center. There was a long silence as they went back to their car. They sat in silence. Kaitlyn didn't turn on the car and Pit didn't tell her to. Finally, after a good few minutes, Pit spoke.

"Do you think he'll ever get to meet more angels?"

"Hayden?" Kaitlyn let out a long breath. "We'll make sure of it. But first, we've got to find these." She tapped the charm on the necklace, which shone brightly in the high sun. "I get the feeling that the others are going to be hard to come by."

Pit nodded, narrowing his eyes. "Yeah." He pulled out his blades and fingered them for a moment. "Start the car. We've got a long journey ahead of us." He looked up, frowning. "And we have to hurry."

Kaitlyn followed his gaze and bit her lower lip. The clouds had started to gather and as they sat in the car, the sky was growing darker.

College is a sad, depressing place.

Okay, I'm over-exaggerating. But I've honestly had more metal breakdowns in the past week than I have in years. I miss my family. I miss my high school. Heck, I miss my bed.

I'm sorry this took me so long to write. I feel like everything I write right now is crap. And I'm sorry if there are grammar or spelling errors. I need to start emailing these to my sister for deep editing, but I've been too lazy to do so.

Anyhow, I hope everyone is doing well, wherever you are. You know, if you have advice on college, if you've been there or still are there, please feel free to sent it my way! As a new freshman, I can use all the advice I can get...
