Chapter 11: 78%

Professor: Sorry it has taken so long to update, I've been focusing on my other stories but I promise that this will be a nice long chapter so you all don't have to be really mad at me….if that makes sense…..

And a special shout out to Jmw (guest) for his review. Thank you for what you said to the other guest reviewer. Really boosted my spirits so thanks…a lot. This chapter is hereby dedicated to you! And by the way, to answer your question, in Skyward Sword there was the old Impa and the Young Impa. In this story Link fell in love with the younger Impa before she went back in time, if that makes any sense. I also kind of changed that story line just a bit but it shall all be explained in the coming chapters.

So, everyone, enjoy!

…Normal POV…

The night was dark all around them which helped them to remain unseen as they flew closer and closer to Miraz's castle. Link thought back to when they had been getting ready to go and the conversation he had had with Fi as he was in his room.

"Master, are you sure you wish to go through with this? There is in face a 85% chance you could die."

"Everyone dies Fi. My death might as well be helpful somehow. I mean let's face it, it is not like Hyrule needs me to risk my life for it anymore. This place does. If I die bringing peace to this land then I would be honored."

Fi shook her head and had an amused smile on her face along with a touch of nostalgia, "You miss it don't you?"

Link looked up at her in puzzlement so she clarified herself, "The fighting and the adventure."

Link smiled sheepishly, "Just a little bit."

Fi shook her head. She had known.

"Master, if I can't talk you out of going can I at least give you a statistic of the plan working?"

Link sighed, "I know you will anyway."

Fi ignored the small jab, "I predict a 78% chance that the plan will fail and you all will die…or at least most of you will."

Link smiled at her, "Then that is going to be a 78% chance that we are going to have to take."

Fi shook her head one last time before going into his sword. Link smiled again and left the room.

"Link!" a hushed whisper brought him out of his thoughts.

He turned his head towards where the voice had come from and saw Susan pointing ahead of them.

Link looked where she had been pointing and saw Miraz's castle directly ahead of them. It was time.

…Link's POV…

We landed gently on the tower wall, Susan easily hitting the lone soldier that was there and about to raise the alarm. We ran to the side of it and looked over.

"There," Caspian said, point to our right, "That is his study. We can get in easily."

I looked at him in slight doubt, "Are you sure we can trust this man?"

He nodded, "With our lives."

I nodded back to him and we all split up. Caspian, Susan, Peter, Reepicheep, and Trumpkin were all going inside the castle to open one of the two gates and to capture Miraz. Impa, Edmund, Farian, and I were going the opposite way. Impa and Edmund to the tower at the end of the wall to signal to our army while Farian and I opened the second of the two gates.

We ran silently, I used my dowsing ability with Fi to try to find out how many soldiers we were going to have to deal with.

"Only two that I can sense-" I started as we got near the tower but then I felt something else lead my dowsing astray, a priority that was so deeply impeded in the 'seek and find' ability that I had that I don't know if it could possibly be distracted from finding this…Zelda. She was here in the castle…

I looked up with a panicked glance to my friends.

"What is it?" Farian asked.

"There's…someone else…my sword found her…always has and always will…but I don't understand how she is here…"

"Who?" Edmund said, looking at me with worry.

"Zelda…Aslan told me she had a part to play in this war but…here? It doesn't make sense."

Impa looked straight at me and seemed to understand, "Go…find her, we'll take care of the gate and the guards."

I looked at all of them and could tell that they would take any arguing, "Thanks."

I didn't waste any time, I sheathed my sword and jumped over the wall, using the Sailcloth to slow my rapid decent and land softly on the ground. I sent a salute to my friends above before I took off running in the shadows so I wouldn't be seen. I used my sword to dowse for Zelda and before I knew it I was running up a flight of stairs.

…Impa's POV…

I watched Link jump off the wall before I turned to Edmund and Farian, "Edmund, can you handle signaling on your own?"

He nodded and took off towards the tower, torch in one hand and sword in the other.

I turned to Farian, "Let's open that gate."

We ran to the stairs and climbed down as quickly as possible. I held my borrowed bow at the ready with two daggers strapped to my waist. This wasn't what I had planned when I followed Link. I only wanted to know why he looked familiar…but if what the legend said was true and I really was a reincarnated version of his dead wife than that would make sense…

It was a little weird, finding a past life's husband. I mean, what did you do? Did this count you as technically married to the man? What did he expect to happen? All of this was just confusing me. I wasn't even supposed to be here! We were told not to interfere with the way things were supposed to play out. None of the Sages were….and now look…here I was fighting in a war. Great job Impa.

I shook my head of my thoughts as we reached the bottom of the staircase. Here was one of the men that Link had sensed sitting at a table and sometimes glancing at the door on the opposite side of the room with his back towards us. I raised a finger to my lips and silently unsheathed a dagger. I walked up behind the guard…and whacked him unconscious with it. I didn't want to kill unless it was necessary.

"Tie him up." I said as I went to the door and awaited Edmund's signal.

…Link's POV…

I ran down the halls, stopping in shadows and hiding from sight when a guard came near and sometimes knocking them unconscious. I had to find out why Zelda was here, I didn't know why but I did. I rounded a corner and face to face with Caspian.

"Link! What are you doing?" he stared at me in shock

"Could ask you the same thing!" I countered

"I am going to free my teacher. Miraz had him imprisoned."

"But don't you need to face Miraz with Peter and Susan?"

"I told them where to go. I have to save him. He saved my life, I have to save his."

I nodded, it made sense to me.

A puzzled look came on his face, "What are you doing though? I thought that you had to open the second gate."

I sighed and told him about Zelda.

He nodded, "Find her fast then. We need to get back and help them."

I nodded and dowsed for Zelda again. Surprisingly it was coming from the same I direction Caspian was headed.

"They're both probably in the dungeon."

We both headed down there in silence. We got over halfway there when Zelda and Doctor Cornelius met us in the hallway carrying a baby. Zelda took it all in stride and handed me the baby while me and Caspian just stood there in shock.

"Finally. I was wondering when you would get here. Honestly, there is only so long I can pretend to enjoy Miraz's company."

I finally found my voice, "W-What in the world is going on?"

She looked up at me. She was in a quickly thrown on traveling outfit with a small bow on her back, "What does it look like? You are going to take the little baby and Dr. Cornelius to safety while I go steal something from Miraz's study."

"Zelda what are you doing here?"

"Helping. Now go, you don't have much time. I promise that I'll be fine. Doctor, lead them the same way out that you lead Caspian out the first time."

He nodded.

Suddenly, the sounds of a battle reached us from the window. We all rushed to it and looked outside. I couldn't see much but what I did see wasn't good. Impa and Farian had just barely gotten the gate open in time and the 'army' of ours was being beaten back by the reinforcements Miraz had here at the castle. Edmund was struggling at the tower and Impa was having to battle five people at once. I looked around and Susan was fighting and helping Peter who had an arrow in his shoulder.

"They're getting slaughtered…" Caspian said softly.

"We are going to have to retreat. Come on hurry!" I said as I put the baby in the doctor's arms.

Caspian put his hand on my shoulder, "I'll lead them out the secret way. Get everyone else out of here."

I nodded and jumped out the window, landing on an archer taking aim at Susan who was killing a fair number of soldiers by herself. I was impressed.

I pulled out my sword and cut down two people before they even knew I was there. I started fighting a path to Peter, no one staying in front of me for long. Soon people around me started noticing this and sent more and more people towards me at a time, hoping to overcome me. It delayed me but didn't stop me. Telmarines couldn't fight up close very well…plus after fighting Demise they seemed like they had no skill.

I cut through one more and got to Peter.

"Wow. I've never seen anyone fight like that!" he stared at me in astonishment.

"You've never been to Hyrule." I joked, "But anyway, Peter you have to call off the attack."

"Where's Caspian?" Susan interrupted.

"Leading the doctor and the baby out, why?"

"Just curious," she replied harshly, her cheeks slightly pink before she continued fighting.

"NO." Peter said, drawing my attention back to why I was talking to him in the first place.

"Peter we have to, we are getting slaughtered here!"

"No we can still win!"

"No we can't."

I looked him straight in the eye. I could see how desperately he wanted to win, to show everyone that he could still be the big hero he used to be.

"Peter…we have to call it off…"

He wanted to argue, that much was evident but instead he yelled out, "RETREAT, EVERYONE RETREAT!"

It took a little bit for the message to send but soon everyone was headed out and towards the forest. The gate started to close but a minotaur held it open so that most of them could make it out. Edmund jumped from the tower and was picked up by a centaur. As we all ran out and into the forest I heard the gate fall.

I stopped at the tree line and everyone kept moving past me. I looked at the rest of them, pinned back by the unmoving gate, about to be slaughtered...

I felt sorry for them…but there was nothing I could do…

A small blue light came from my sword and Fi was standing next to me, already knowing what was bothering me.

"Master, you must leave before you are killed."

"I'll be fine Fi. I just…"

"I know Master, but the only way to help them or try to would get you killed too."

"There has to be something!"

She didn't respond and the rest of our 'army' approached the tree line. Then suddenly, Fi did something I had rarely seen her do before. She sang.

I don't know if it was a lament for the people about to die but it fit. It was a goodbye.

That's what I was thinking anyway….before the gate lifted up by magic.

"F-Fi." I turned to the blue woman who had stopped singing.

"I d-I don't know…"

The rest of the army poured out and I allowed a smile onto my face and urged them forward. I ran with them into the forest…everyone ran. We ran until we got back to Aslan's How.

…Normal POV…

The tired remnants of the army approached our camp. Peter and Caspian were at the front arguing. Lucy showed up and healed Trumpkin. But Link's mind was on Fi. Just how could she raise that gate with her voice? He shook his head and looked around.

Susan had a nervous look on her face…but Impa was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey Susan, where is Impa?"

She looked at him, worry on his face, "She was captured Link. A guard saw how she kind of took control and figured she was a leader…and captured her. I'm sorry…"

Professor: dun dun DUN! Is that enough twists for one chapter? I was so happy when this chapter got done, one of the biggest moments of writer's block I have ever had. Anyway, read and review!
