"Niiicoooo. Niiicoo. Niiicooooo." Draco moaned into his phone. Though the other line had not yet connected, Draco didn't care. He was alone with no one the judge him. Draco was in the room of requirement, at the very back, by the window. No one would find him, even if they came into the room. This is the only place in Hogwarts with any form of service. Draco came up here every other day to use his cell. He didn't know why, he only ever talked to one person and, due to timezones, they only talked very late at night. Even if the line did connect, Nico wasn't going to judge him. They had been great friends for years. Some may even say best friends. Draco was started to reminisce on their strange meeting when the line finally connected.

"Draco Malfoy, I swear to the Gods. If you have called me to moan about a certain someone I will come over to Britain and murder you." Draco pouted, batting his eyes at the camera. Nico knew him too well. Though he knew he didn't really need to convince his best mate to listen to him moan, he felt it necessary.

"Please? I promise it's really important this time. Something actually happened." Though he couldn't see Nico, he could feel him perk up, interested, though Draco knew he was already half interested.

"Wait really? What happened? Did he ask you out? Did you ki..." Draco quickly cut Nico off. Though nobody could hear them, Draco didn't think he wanted to hear it, for fear of his hopes getting up.

"No! Calm down Nico! And stop living through me." Draco raised an eyebrow, hinting at his friends' own crush. As Draco smirked, he could feel Nico flipping him off.

"Piss off, you dick."

"Oookayy. If that's what you want. Guess you'll never hear what happened in Potions class today." Draco toyed with his interested friend, hovering his finger over the off button. As friends often do, Draco knew that even if he hung up, Nico would call him back.

'You know what. I don't care enough to keep getting insulted. So..." Draco heard the dial tone, telling him Nico had hung up on him.

"Lil' Bitch." Draco whispered, knowing that though Nico couldn't hear him, he'd get the message. Draco sat in his corner, waiting for Nico to call him again. He knew not the call the demigod himself, as he would just get declined. No, better to just wait for the Drama Queen to realise how much he missed him.

Draco sat in his corner, drinking from a flask of Pumpkin juice, going through his photos, deleting cheat sheet screenshots people had sent him for his O. . He had gone all the way back to last year September when he stumbled along a photo of him and his aforementioned Drama Queen at a Burger King. Nico was covering his face with a Mcdonald's Happy Meal while Draco was posing at the camera, majestic as ever. It had been their three year friend-anniversary, as well as their monthly meet up. Draco had gotten to choose where they went, since he had let Nico pick the last two year, since it has been Nico's idea to celebrate a friend-anniversary. Not that Draco minded. Nico was the only person Draco let he was truly himself around. With everyone else, Draco put on a facade: the bully, the fuckboy, the prefect, the perfect son. Truthfully, he was none of those things: he was a sweetheart secretly, a romantic, a slight rebel. Only Nico saw all the sides of him. Everyone else just saw a snippet, or none at all.

As it was his turn to pick the location of their meet up, Draco had purposely chosen a place that Nico despises, just to annoy him. Draco remembered leading Nico, blindfolded, into the restaurant and recording his reaction. It was not an amused one. Nico shadow travelled to a Mcdonalds, buying himself his own meal to eat at the rival restaurant, not to the amusement of the managers. It had been a fun day although all days with Nico were fun to Draco, though he would never admit it. Draco would never admit how grateful he was for Nico, he didn't want to boost his ego more than he already had over the past 4 years. He was so glad he had met Nico all those years ago. After a decade of being surrounded by acquaintances, he finally had a proper friend. A best friend.

It was quite amusing to Draco that Nico was his best friend. He barely remember how they had met. It all felt like a drunken haze of laughter, minus the being drunk part. He knew they had met outside a Burger King at night. He knew Nico had judged him for wanting to eat Burger King. He knew they found out about each other not being human that night. And he knew they were best friends by the next morning. The rest, he only had snippets of inside jokes to remember it by.

Draco's train of thought came to a halt when his phone started vibrating. Draco picked up the call, checking the time, feeling quite smug.

"Wow. It only took you three minutes to call me back this time. You must either really miss me or really be interested." Draco gloated.

"Oh don't worry, dick. I'm just worried about what you did to Potter. It's nothing to do with you." Nico rebutted, putting emphasise on the name, mimicking Draco's accent when saying it.

Draco rolled his eyes and got ready to tell his story when he heard a crash in the distance. "Hold on Nico, I've got to check something. Stay quiet." Draco placed his phone and drink down and got up to explore the noise. Knowing that Nico would not stay quiet, he turned the volume down on his phone, though he could still hear the fait sound of someone yelling.

"Lumos." Draco whispered. He walked the length off the room, checking every corner twice. When he couldn't find anyone, he convinced himself it was the wind, or an animal. He came back to the still yelling Nico and turned up the volume, covering his ears in preparation. "By Merlin's Beard Nico! Can you just do what I ask just once?"

"Um no."

"You are so annoying."

"Yeah yeah yeah. You hate me. I'm so annoying. Why are friends. Now get to the good stuff." Nico said, speeding along Draco's stalling.

"Fine. Fine. Okay so.." Draco said, not only preparing Nico but himself, as he hadn't heard it out loud himself." We were in Potions class, making Amortentia. When.. oh wait. Um. Amortentia is this um love potion. Basically, when someone smells it, it smells like things that attract the person the most."

"Yes yes. I know all this. I've listened to you complain about school for the past four years. I know what Amor-blah-blah-blah is."

"Wow. I'm sorry, we can't all drop out of secondary school and travel around America. Some of us want a future."

"It's called high school not secondary school. And rude, I have careers I can go into."

"Yeah like what? American tour guide?'

"Rude, I can work as an ambassador, or a translator or a... hey! We're getting off topic. Stop stalling."

"Ok. Ok. Sorry. Anyway, we were making Amortentia when Potter, walks into the class. He was really late, we were, like, almost finished with the potion. Snape scolded him for it but of course Potter got away with it. He gets away with everything. I hate it. I hate him. I hate his stupid luck and his stupid smile. His stupid face and his stupid hair. His stupid eyes and he stupid hot body. Anyway, off topic. So Potter walks in and... oh god, he as also in his Quidditch gear. He didn't even have Quidditch practice that day, so he was just late and not in proper uniform."

"Wait, so is that all that happened, he was late and breaking dress code. Draco, I don't think thats a big thing." Nico said half-heartedly, his hopes significantly down.

"Will you let me finish?" A flustered Draco whispered."So he walks in and Hermione Granger has just finished her potion, her desk is just by the door, so he smells her potions first, right? And so he asks, quite loudly, might I say, "Why does it smell like Draco's God-awful colon in here?" Nico gasped, half in amusement, half in shock, but Draco ignored it, wanting to finish his story first. "So, nobody knows what to say, so we all just go quiet. None of us tell him what the potion actually is until Hermione calls him over and whispered something to him. His face legitimately went completely white and he just looked at the wall with these big eyes. Then he asked to got to bathroom and I haven't seen him all day. But like.. Oh my god?"

"Oh my gods. Oh my gods. Oh my gods. Oh my gods. Draco. Oh my gods. Draco!" Nico said, flustered.

"I know!"

"Draco, I don't know what to say? Are you going to confront him? Have you confronted him? Oh my gods, are you going to ask him out?" Nico said, going a mile a minute, clearly lying about not knowing what to say.

"I don't know! I don't know what to do! Do I confront him? Can I ask him out? Oh god I don't know what to do!"

"You know what? Here's what we'll do." Nico stated, clearly forgetting that they were not in the same continent, "Tomorrow, you're going to acknowledge his presence but avoid him. Nod at him but don't engage. if someone asks you about him then just shrug and smile. I'm gonna go to Camp Half-Blood and ask the Aphrodite cabin what to do. You text Drew separately as she's away right now." Nico and Draco had both become quite close to Drew early that year when Draco visited Camp Half-Blood with Nico and she assumed they were a couple, "Then we all figure something out and the day after tomorrow we set our plan in motion."

"Okay. Okay. Hopefully that works. I'll text Drew right now but I think I have to go, I have a Charms test tomorrow, so I better get some sleep, though I don't know how I'll be able to sleep." Draco sighed.

"Okay mate. Talk to you tomorrow, with our plan. See ya."

"Night." Draco hung up the phone, picked up his drink and made his way out of the room, charming himself so that he could get to the Slytherin dorm room in peace. Draco gave one last look on the room before opening the door and leaving.

As the door shut, a book fell to the floor. The clumsy eavesdropper, removed his invisibility cloak and picked up the book, longingly staring at the door.

"Night Malfoy," Harry said.

The potions class storyline was based off of headcanon I once read so, unfortunately, I can not take credit.
