As both of the women walked into the hospital, a dark-haired woman stepped forward who was wearing a typical white medical coat whilst beneath that was a tight black pencil skirt and a maroon coloured blouse that had ruffles down the center of it, "Good Afternoon", the woman greeted them, "My name is Doctor Suzana Isles".

Jen nodded with a polite smile, "I'm Director Jennifer Shepard", she said in response, "This is Officer Ziva David".

Suzana nodded, "Well, if you'll follow me then I'll show you to the patient's room", she said softly, "We have her in a private side-room so that we can keep watch and so that it's easier for any investigation purposes".

Jen nodded but Ziva had been silent as she was so deeply submerged in her thoughts.

Once they outside the hospital room, Suzana turned to the other two women, "The monitors make it look a lot worse than it is, her injuries did require surgery but she is stable and the monitors are literally there to keep an eye on her stats as well as to provide nutrients as she was rather malnourished when she was admitted".

Director Shepard nodded, "We will bear that in mind", she replied before the Doctor opened the door to permit them entry to the room.

Doctor Suzana Isles entered the room first followed by Ziva who was encouraged slightly by a soft hand pressing on her lower back. Jen smiled at her reassuringly as they walked through the door.

Ziva stepped closer to the young girl, the girl appeared to be rather small and very thin but that was a result of the malnutrition that the Doctor had already informed them of.

"She had one deep laceration to her lower abdomen that required surgery to repair due to the internal damage that it had caused", Doctor Isles explained, "The bruising and other injuries appear to be much older with the latest being estimated at a week ago".

"Thank you Doctor", Jen said softly.

"Ah and the letter", Suzana said quickly before extracting it from her pocket and handing it to Ziva, "This is for you, I'm not sure what it is as we didn't open it but we are all curious as to who she is so I was wondering if you knew?".

"I…", Ziva paused for a moment, "I believe I may know but without DNA testing, I am uncertain", she said as her mind questioned the reality of it all.

"We can have that done here at the hospital if you'd like?", Doctor Isles offered, "I can put a rush on it too".

Ziva nodded, "Thank you", she said softly.

"Would you like us to do a comparison or would you like your own analysts to?", the Doctor questioned.

"How quickly can it be done here?", Jenny questioned.

"An hour or two at the most", Suzana replied instantly, "As long as we have a comparison of course otherwise it will have to be passed on to your analysts and taking the samples from her will take only minutes".

Jennifer nodded, "Then here is fine", she stated simply.

"Do you have a comparison or will I be preparing it for transport?", Suzana asked.

"Here", Jen stated.

"You'll need my DNA as a comparison too", Ziva said quietly with her eyes still focused on the child who lay sleeping in a medically induced coma in the bed.

Suzana Isles nodded, "She looks like you", the woman said softly with a smile, "A lot of similarities".

Ziva did not respond at all to the comment but instead she continued to stand beside the child's bed as varied thoughts flew around in her mind.

The Doctor stepped out of the room for a moment in order to collect the items that were needed to collect the DNA samples and she wasn't gone for long before she had returned in order to carry out the collections for both 'Jane Doe' and Ziva.

Once the Doctor had finished collecting DNA samples from the both of them, Jen moved to the other side of the girl's hospital bed and looked down at her in silence as she observed Ziva with her.

The room was silent apart from the beeping of the machines when Ziva eventually spoke, "After Sarah…", the Israeli woman paused, "...after Sarah died my father began to send me on more assignments out of the country". "He said it was so that I could recover and move on from what had happened", she explained, "Thalia and I used to be really close, at least we were until then but after that day she started to pull away from me".

"There was always a reason why we could not meet", Ziva continued, "I thought it was that she did not know how to react to Sarah's death but it got worse as time went on". "I knew she was keeping something from me but I thought that it was something to do with our father and his obsession with sending us on assignments", she said as she kept her eyes on 'Jane Doe', "We met a few times after Sarah's death but after a month I did not see her again other than at events that we were both made to go to and we were under the watch of our father and his men".

"Our father did everything that he could to keep us apart", Ziva revealed as she looked up at Jen, "He did not want us speaking to each other or seeing each other and I never understood why but now I think I might. I tried to speak to her but I could not find her. I wrote letters but they were returned. I called her but her phone no longer worked. I even visited but she had moved and father refused to tell me where".

Jen moved in order to stand beside Ziva, she did not say anything as she was unsure as to what to say but also because there was not truly anything to say that would fix or make any of it better.

"Thalia died five years after I lost Sarah", Ziva said quietly, "She was killed in a roadside bombing along with four others". "When I went to her funeral I remember seeing a little girl there, she was sat with a woman I did not recognise", she revealed, "I remember that she made me wonder what Sarah would look like because she seemed to be around the same age as what my daughter would have been but no I am wondering if it was her".

Ziva had tears streaming down her face as she sat on the bench outside, the sun was shining down and she found herself watching a little girl who was sat on the other side of the courtyard. The little girl appeared to be around 4 or 5 years old and she was wearing a black dress with a black ribbon in her hair along with a pair of black ballet pump style shoes. The child was not playing like the others were but instead she was sat looking down at the floor. She was beside a woman who appeared to be in her mid-thirties and was clearly an Officer although Ziva had not met her before, it was quite obvious.

She found herself wondering what her own daughter would have looked like at that age but she had to turn away when her name was called. She spoke with her father for a few minutes but when she turned back around to continue watching the child she realised that she had gone.

"You couldn't have known Ziva", Jen said reassuringly as she wrapped her arms around her, "You couldn't have known".

Ziva had cried as she clung to Jen slightly, "She just… she looks so small and…", she never finished that sentence, where she was going to say how vulnerable the child looked as she lay in the hospital bed hooked up to monitoring machines.

Jen nodded, "I know", she said softly, "But she'll be okay".

The Israeli woman nodded against Jennifer silently.

She had already arranged for her meetings to be covered and any calls were being sent to the Deputy Director so she knew that there was not a rush for her to leave Ziva's side to go back to work so instead she remained with her.

It was an hour and forty-five minutes before Doctor Isles returned with a set of papers in her hands. When she returned she was met with the sight of Jen sitting in the chair beside the bed and Ziva sitting on the edge of 'Jane Doe's bed whilst the both of them appeared to be drinking coffee that had been purchased from the cafe in the lobby rather than the vending machine on the ward floor.

"I have the results", Suzana announced calmly.

The two women looked at her expectantly.

"It is a 100% certainty that she is your daughter", she said with a smile as she handed over the paperwork to Ziva.

Ziva was silent as she took the papers and looked down at them, she knew that there was a high probability but there was still an aspect of shock there from the fact that she had spent so long believing that the child was dead when, in fact, she was far from it.

Jen nodded in the direction of the Doctor, "Thank you", she said professionally.

Doctor Isles nodded, "What's her name?", she enquired.

"Sarah", Ziva said quietly, "Or at least… that's what I named her".

Suzana nodded, "In that case, it is what I shall write on her board", she said before moving to the other side of the bed and using a tissue to wipe the writing off of the wipe board above her bed in order to replace it with the name 'Sarah', "And her last name? Is that David too?".

Ziva froze, suddenly the name 'David' had more negative thoughts linked to it than it had done previously.

"I think we can skip that part for now", Jennifer suggested calmly.

"Of course", Suzana said in understanding before she moved away from the bed and back towards the door, "If you need anything then just hit the nurse call button and a nurse will page me".

Jennifer nodded, "Thank you", she replied with a polite smile.

After a moment of silence, Ziva reached out and took hold of Sarah's hand after placing the paperwork on the side, "My Sarah", she whispered, "My beautiful little Princess".

Jen observed as Ziva pressed a kiss to Sarah's head and she smiled sadly so many years missed, she thought to herself as she recalled the numerous conversations that she had had with her friend over the years about her daughter.
