Port of Seattle

Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

(Sea-Tac Airport)

Small Hours

"Merlin, I'm starving." Ron groaned as he stood beside Harley. The airport was crowded, filled to the brim with people coming and going to their destinations. The group waited in silence, as they searched the area for two familiar figures that would be picking them up. It had been a long day, that has yet to end. There flight, by way of the British Airlines, had been a grueling seventeen hours and fifty-five minutes. They had flown from London to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport which had taken ten hours and twenty-five minutes. Following their arrival at the airport they had to wait an additional four hours and twenty-five minutes to get onto the airplane due to delays. During this time the group had gone to go get some dinner, having felt famished and desired something to eat that wasn't airplane food. After they had eaten and were able to get onto the plane, it had been a mere four hours and twenty-five minutes to get to the Sea-Tac Airport.

Currently, they were all feeling exhausted and irritable. It was hell trying to fly with two young children. Especially such a long flight as they had just experienced. Harley rolled her bloodshot red eyes at her friend's remark. She tiredly leaned against the stroller that two-year-old Teddy and one-year-old girl Cassie were sleeping peacefully inside of. Little Cassie had caught a cold a few days before their designation, and now the child was miserable. Everyone else was feeling pretty miserable too.

Rain splattered against the windows of the Seatac Airport windows in Port of Seattle. It was soaking everything outside, reminding the three young adults of a familiar earthy smell, every time the sliding double doors opened. Puddles covered the ground, drenching anyone who dared to face the harsh storm that was seemingly going to cover all of Seattle and then head towards La Push and Forks Washington. As the trio waited impatiently for Sirius and Remus to arrive, Harley finally responded to Ron's bemoaning.

"You're always starving Ron." Harley said with a snort of laughter. A quick glance at the clock showed it was nearing 1 o'clock in the morning, and they still had a good three hours and fifty-five minute to drive to Forks Washington, if they didn't have delays. However, considering the rain, she could just imagine the traffic they would be faced with. A groan slipped out at the thought of being stuck in traffic for hours. As her mind wandered, it became consumed with the thought of anyone from their old world finding them. The very last thing she wanted was for someone to find them and her godchildren. The last thing she wanted some of the survivors of the war spewing bullshit at her about needing her to help them clean up the mess. She did her part, now it was their turn to clean everything up. All Harley wanted now was to be given rest.

Harley's right foot tapped against the airports floor with a consistent thump as she waited. While she was exhausted, her hypervigilance of being in an unknown place left her unsettled. Her eyes constantly roved around the area, unconsciously scanning for any signs of dangers and the exits. She was often known to be a vigilant and wary person before the war, it only escalated after everything they had gone through with the war. There was a term that Hermione, as well as Harley and Ron, had discovered that felt like it fit: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Of course, Hermione had gone on to say that she believed Harley had Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (also known as C-PTSD or Complex Trauma Disorder).

Harley had initially scoffed at her friends remark, until she learned more about it and Hermione had pointed out the various circumstances that led to this belief. It caused the raven haired beauty to curse at her brilliant friend for being right, again. She was honestly surprised Hermione wasn't a healer or mind healer. Or even just a mundane doctor or psychiatrist yet. Her friend basically knew everything to be one because of the war.

"We'll get something to eat later. I'd kill for a hot shower and warm bed to sleep in." Hermione muttered with a heavy sigh. She stood near them with her hands holding a closed book. Harley nodded in agreement, her own book already slipped into the strollers little storage area. A grimace graced her features as she felt the cricks in her neck from the airplanes seat. Even in first class, the seats were only comfortable for so long. Harley glanced down into the strollers little viewing area, to see little Teddy's small right pale hand gripping a soft Siberian tiger stuffed animal. His left hand was raised up by his face in a loose fist. Little Cassie had her blanket covering her face, as that was commonly known as the only way she would sleep.

"Aren't they supposed to be bloody here by now?" Ron asked with a trace of annoyance in his tone. His ocean blue eyes scanned the area with the watchful eyes of a protective hunter. He couldn't see anything out of the blurry doorway, due to the pouring rain that splattered and tapped against the window in a rhythm, only dark shapes of mundanes.

"They –" Harley began to speak but stopped as a familiar figure quickly jogged into the building. He shook his head like a dog when wet, causing water droplets to fly everywhere. The older looking male had dark black hair that fell into his face and stopped at the middle of his neck. His eyes were a glittering smoky gray color that sparkled mischievously. Those bright eyes wandered around the airport. The light from the airport gave his tanned skin a healthy looking glow to it. It was completely different to what his skin had been years ago. He wore a pair of slim fitting jeans that covered his black tennis shoes. A long sleeved white t-shirt was covered by a dark red sweater with a black leather jacket over it. Black leather gloves covered his hands, keeping them warm from the chill of the rain and cold.

The swooshing of the airports door opening again caught the teenager's attention and causing her dazzling emerald green eyes to turn towards the man's companion. The other figure was another familiar face that she hadn't seen in over two years. Dirty blonde hair fell into a healthy tone skinned face. Warm amber gold eyes glimmered in the light from the ceiling. The older man wore a pair of darker jeans that his companion, with dark grey tennis shoes. A long sleeved grey shirt covered his upper body as a warm looking leather fur jacket covered his shirt. Warm cotton black gloves covered his hands, also keeping the chill of the rain from freezing his hands.

"I told you Sirius to take the right turn, not the left. Do you have any idea how late we are?" The blond haired man demanded with an annoyed sigh. His amber gold eyes darkened as he glared down at the man beside him.

"Don't get your knickers in a twist Moony." Sirius replied with a dismissive wave of his leather-clad hand. Smoky gray eyes glistened from the light as he looked at his friend who gave an exasperated sigh.

"I see you two still fight like an old married couple." Harley teased, as she walker and pushed the stroller over to the two men. Her joke and Ron followed the pair with amused expressions at the bickering. The two men looked at the younger woman with surprise. "You know, it hurts really," She began in a teasing tone, "That you don't hug me or say hello. Instead, you stand and stare at me like you've never seen me before." Harley added, a hurt expression graced her face, but the effect was lost due to the playful sparkle in her eyes.

"Prongslet!" Sirius exclaimed with happiness. His sparkling eyes held glee and excitement at seeing his goddaughter after two, nearly three, years of no contact. He wrapped the young female into a tight hug and lifted her up off her feet.

Harley chuckled at the man's excitement. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders as he lifted her up off the floor. "Padfoot!" She exclaimed back with a small smile. "Let me down please." She laughed and sighed in relief as the man gently set her back down.

Remus chuckled and shook his head at his mates childish and adorable excitement at seeing Harley once again. "It's great to see you Cub." Remus replied with a smile and a warm tight hug that left a warm feeling in Harley's chest. Her own arms wrapped around Remus' chest before she pulled away.

A smile curled Harley's lips upward, into a warm and loving emotion. Although it was nowhere near bright enough to be considered as happy, it did show the more compassionate emotions she felt for the other man. Harley had seen and lost too much to truly be happy at much of anything lately. She had too many bad memories, ones of dragging the injured to safety amidst a war zone, watching and holding those she considered friends and allies as they died in her arms, hearing the cries of pain from the wounded. So much pain and death, that Harley often felt like she didn't even know what happiness feels like anymore. She had to fight to save herself and those she loved for years.

"I'm glad to hear it. Now that you are both finally here, I'd really love to leave this wonderful airport." She stated sarcastically.

"Of course Harley. Come on, follow me." He said with a warm smile. "It's good to see you Ron and Hermione." Remus greeted, as his amber gold eyes looked to the two children in stroller with a raise of his eyebrow. Harley noticed the look on the older mans face, but made no comment on it. She'd talk to them about it later.

"It is great to see you three again." Sirius replied. "Especially after how many years?" He teased playfully and winked at the trio.

The Golden Trio merely smiled and shook their heads at the man. They could see through his mask. Just like they were sure he could see through theirs. Although they had no doubt that Sirius was much happier and in a better mindset since he left so many years ago, there was still a darkness within him that would never truly disappear, no matter how many years passed. However, they all hoped he had gotten the help that he deserved after the things he had been through.

"It's good to see you too Remus and Sirius." Hermione said with a friendly smile. Her chocolate brown eyes were warm as she gazed at the two older males.

"It hasn't been the same without you two around." Ron replied with a grin. He held the bags in his hand as the group walked out into the frigid and crisp early morning. The rain continued to downpour and soak the ground. Harley adjusted the waterproof blanket over the stroller as they left the protection of the awning. The small group of five hurriedly ran to the car, with Harley pushing the stroller.

Ron, Hermione and Harley quickly worked together to get the two children into the backseat. With a quick flick and twist of Harley's fingers, the carseats expanded into their normal size. While Harley knew they weren't supposed to do magic, she figured this little bit wouldn't hurt. Quickly Hermione and Harley strapped the car seats in properly.

Ron quickly and carefully took out Teddy from the stroller and handed him over to Harley, who carefully passed him to Hermione. Ron lifted Cassie up out of the stroller and handed her over to Harley. Once the little girl was out of the stroller, Ron began to flatten it and place it into the trunk of the SUV. The dark redhead jumped into the car and shut the door behind him. He crawled to the very back seat, where Hermione was seated. As the middle seats of the car were filled with two carseat and Harley.

Remus and Sirius were quickly putting the teenagers entire luggage away in the trunk. A few minutes later, the driver and passenger side doors opened and the two men got into the car.

"Sooo….what have you guys been up to?" Harley questioned, breaking the comfortable silence between them all. She unzipped her jacket and leaned comfortably back into the seat with her head resting against the comfy seats. She watched as Teddy squirmed awake in his carseat. The young boy opened his eyes slowly, blinking rapidly as his wide eyes took in his surroundings. The young two-year-old's eyes were rapidly changing colors, as the child didn't know what was going on. "Hello lovely." The raven-haired girl whispered, causing Teddy to snap his gaze to Harley. His eyes turned back to a bright emerald green as he lay back against the carseat tiredly, his eyes began to close again as the smooth drive of the car lulled him back to sleep.

"Nothing really." Sirius replied, his hand was gripped in Remus's as his eyes remained focused on the road. "I found a distant relative of mine that lives in La Push. We caught up on old times from when we were younger. I only remember ever meeting him a few times at family balls. He's a Squib, knows a bit about magic, but never told his family, who are also Squibs of sorts." Sirius said with a large smile across his handsome face.

"We own a bookstore and restaurant in Forks." Remus remarked with a smile. He glanced over at the three teenagers and two children in the backseat and gave a low laugh. Low rock and roll music was playing through the speakers of the car, giving it a comfortable atmosphere. The music of Aerosmith played through the speakers, playing a slow beat song. The three teenagers were fast asleep. Harley's head was leaned back against the seat, her head turned to the right, facing the little girl's carseat. Hermione and Ron were in the very back, both leaned against each other as they slept peacefully. The two children in the car seat were also fast asleep.

"What's so funny?" Sirius questioned, but only received another chuckle as his mate nodded back to the backseat. Sirius looked over his shoulder and to the teenagers and chuckled at the sight. All three teenagers, plus the children, were asleep. "Do you think those kids are Harley's?" The animagus questioned curiously. His gray eyes continued to stray towards the backseat.

"Perhaps, but I don't think so. The boy may look like Harley, but he could be a Metamorphmagus. One of the boy's parents had to have been one. Maybe Tonks?" Remus questioned in thought as he leaned comfortably into his seat.

Sirius gave a slow nod as he thought this over. "I can believe that, but who's the father? And what about the baby girl? Whose child is that?" Sirius inquired aloud. He sped down the highway carefully, not taking his eyes off of the road. The windshield was blurry from the downpour of rain. The windshield wipers were of the highest setting, making it a little easier to see through the downpour. The headlights on the road made the black top glisten from the rain.

"We'll just have to ask them when they wake up. Let them sleep; they've had a long day and night. As well as an early morning with it being near 2:30 in the morning. I wouldn't be surprised if they're having a hard time dealing with everything. You remember what Harley said when she asked us to flee to America." Remus reminded him with a loving smile.

Sirius nodded as he thought back to the night that they were asked by Harley to leave the war behind.

Flashback

Summer Before Fifth Year

Black Manor was silent as everyone slept peacefully in his or her bedroom. Fifteen-year-old Harley walked silently down the staircase and towards the kitchen. A cold sweat made her skin glisten as she walked downstairs. Her shorts and tank top stuck to her as her raven hair plastered to her forehead and the side of her face. A flush of pink graced her cheeks, making it appear as if she was feverish. With one last step off the staircase, she walked through the doorway of the kitchen and pushed it open slowly.

Harley walked slowly into the large and warm kitchen. She paused as she caught sight of Sirius and Remus sitting at the table, talking quietly to one another. They paused at the sight of Harley looking tired and ill. "Are you alright Cub?" Remus questioned with concern. He looked at the young girl he thought of as a daughter with worry shining bright in amber gold eyes.

"Mhm." Harley hummed as she walked across the kitchen and over to the cupboard beside the sink. Grabbing a glass off of the second shelf she stuck it underneath the faucet. She turned the right nozzle handle on, letting cold water squirt from the nozzle and fill up the cup with glistening clear water. Sirius and Remus watched in silence as the fifteen-year-old shakily held the cup in her hands. She took a large gulp, downing half of the cup in one gulp.

"Prongslet, why don't you take a seat?" Sirius questioned slowly. Worry burned bright in his eyes as he looked over the shaking form of his goddaughter. The couple watched silently as Harley placed the cup on the counter. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs as tears burned in her eyes. She took a shuddering breath, her chest heaved up and down as she bent over the sink with a groan. Sirius quickly stood from his seat and walked over to his goddaughter. He grabbed the girl gently by the arm and used his other hand to feel her forehead; it was warm, warmer than it should be.

"Cub…are you alright?" Remus quietly questioned as he stood from his chair. He walked to her other side and rested his hand on her shoulder.

"I'm fine." Harley murmured. Grabbing her cup she slowly walked over to the table and sat across from where Remus and Sirius sat. She placed the cup on the table and held it. She forced her hands not to shake as she looked down at the table in contemplation. The two men glanced at each other with concern as they sat across from her.

"What's wrong Prongslet?" Sirius asked hesitantly. "And don't say you're fine, please. We can see you're not." Sirius stated gently. Harley opened her mouth, but no words came out. Instead she closed her mouth with a click of her jaw. That has always been Harley's problem. She always said she was fine, even if she was the farthest thing from it. It was a habit she had learned from an early age. Which in turn made it hard for others to realize if she truly meant it or not.

"Just another nightmare." She sighed with a shake of her head. Her fingers traced the top of the glasses edge silently as she looked into the water. Harley ignored the glances that Sirius and Remus shared while they quietly communicated between each other.

"What kind of nightmare Cub?" Remus questioned. Harley gave a silent sigh and squeezed her eyes shut as she fought the tears. The fifteen-year-old gave out a muttered explanation, but it was unheard by the two men. "What was that cub?" The werewolf questioned with a furrow of his eyebrows. Sirius had a thoughtful look on his face, which was new as he gazed at his best friends daughter.

"I said I was remembering his death." She snapped angrily. Remus's and Sirius's eyes widened at the sudden aggressiveness, but nodded in understanding. It was hard for anyone to deal with losing someone you know, especially if you cared deeply for that person. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap." Harley sighed again and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She had gotten a potion to heal her eyesight earlier in fourth year. It made it so she could now see perfectly without glasses.

"It's fine Prongslet. Everyone reacts that way when it comes to losing someone you loved. I remember acting like that when I lost your father. He was my best friend, my brother." Sirius explained with compassion and understanding.

Harley shook her head roughly at his reply. Her elbows were propped up on the table as her hands held up her head. "Love fucking sucks." Harley muttered with all the angst of a teenage girl. Her voice was choked with tears. Sirius and Remus smiled sadly at her reply. It was a clear sign she was trying not to cry and appear strong. She hadn't cried in years. She had cried her heart out after watching Cedric be murdered in front of her. He was the first person she had ever had deep romantic feelings for. They had began as friends near the beginning of her third year, but after the Quidditch match that she lost due to the Dementors, the pair began to date. They were still dating all through her fourth year, until his death.

"It's one of the hardest things I've ever gone through." The girl whispered in a broken voice. Harley has always been a strong person. She has dealt with and experienced many situations that most people would never be able to handle themselves. Sometimes, though, she needed to let loose of all of her pent up emotions that she buried deep inside of her, locked away and never to be seen again.

Harley had already had to deal with three loses in her life: her parents and Cedric, she didn't want to face losing Sirius and Remus. "I…I can't lose you two." Harley suddenly said as she exhaled heavily and went silent. Remus and Sirius looked at each other in worry and jumped slightly as Harley's head abruptly snapped up to look at her two fatherly figures, her godfathers. "I don't want to lose anyone that I love, not again, but I know I'm just being naive in wishing that won't happen." The raven haired teenager said with sad eyes. Those beautiful green eyes showed a young woman older than her years. "But, I know I can stop at least you two from dying." She said with a small quirk of her lips.

"What do you mean Cub?" Remus questioned quietly. His eyebrows raised and his head tilted in confusion at her words.

Harley stood slowly as she leaned forward, her hands rested of the table as she looked between Remus and Sirius. There was determination and steely resolve as she looked at the for a long and silent minute. "I want the two of you to leave England." Harley finally said.

"Now wait a minute –"

"Harley I don't think –"

"Stop speaking for a minute and hear what I have to say!" She ordered firmly. The men abruptly stopped speaking in surprise. "Look, for my own peace of mind, I need you to leave and live for me." Harley said with a sigh. Her green eyes looked at the two men with a soft smile. "I don't want you to tell me where you're going. Not right now, at least. For now, the less I know, the safer you'll be from someone who knows Legilimency from gaining the information from my mind." She stated. She took her seat again and looked down at the table. "If you really want to let me know somehow, then write the place you're going down on a paper. Then leave it in the Black Vault. When the war ends, I'll know where to look." She stated with a small smile.

Harley no longer looked like just a young teenage girl, she looked like a soldier or a commander that led the soldiers. "I want you two to leave as soon as possible." Remus and Sirius stood and glanced at each other thoughtfully as their mind raced. They held a silent communication with their eyes, as they decided of what they should do. Finally, they came to a decision.

"Alright, we'll leave, for you." Remus sighed as he rubbed his pale face with a shake of his head. Seeing the bright smile on Harley's face, though her eyes showed just how tired she was, was worth it. Sirius smiled down at his goddaughter as she nodded her head. Harley walked around the table and pulled her father figures into a hug. She spoke in their ears as they held onto her in the hug.

"I promise you, that when I win this war, I'll go searching for you. I'll make sure I make my way home to you. We'll live like a normal family should." Harley whispered in their ears. Pulling away she kissed them on the cheeks. She looked the two of them in the eyes and spoke softly but firmly. "I want you both to live happy, to do whatever you want, wherever you're going. Try not worry about me when you're gone." Harley pleaded as she looked at the two men that she was asking to leave her and everyone else behind. She knows what she is asking them is a lot. That she is essentially making the abandoned everything they hold dear to them, their morals and values.

"I promise you, I will make it through this war." Harley reiterated with a sad smile. "I want to be able to finally see you two happy and connected again like you use to be." She said with a wink and another kiss on both of their cheeks. The raven haired beauty turned away and walked out of the kitchen, leaving the two men in deep thought. "Don't worry about what will happen when everyone realizes you're gone, I'll deal with that issue when it comes to it." Harley said with a light laugh from down the hallway.

End Flashback

Present Time

Sirius shook himself from his memory and turned back to the road and glanced at Remus beside him. "Harley kept her promise." He stated with a chuckle as he glanced in the rearview mirror to see Harley had turned her head to face the little boy's car seat. Remus gave a laugh also and nodded.

"She always has kept her promises. But…I think she didn't get to keep all of them. I can see it in her eyes. She has the same look we had after the first war, but it's worst." Remus muttered. His eyes looked over the seventeen-year-old girl and paused in thought. "We didn't have all of the magical world and muggle world counting on us." He said with a frown. "We'll have to ask them about what happened later when they wake up." The older man remarked thoughtfully.

Sirius nodded, as he finally pulled off of the highway and passed the small town of Forks to head farther near the woods, where their home was. It had been a long four hour drive to Forks Washington. It was around five in the morning and the two men were ready for sleep. "Harley, Hermione, and Ron deserve this new life. They don't need to recall anything about this most recent war at the moment. They're home now." He stated with a happy smile.

"Half my life is books, written pages. Live and learn from fools and from sages. You know it's true, oh, all these feelings come back to you." Sirius sang softly with the song playing from the CD player. He sped a little faster down the road as they drove the long stretch of highway that led to their home surrounded by forest.

Remus smiled at Sirius, his mate loved music. It was one thing that helped him during his recovery, but he knew that finally had their daughter back with them again, along with Ron and Hermione to add to it, and two grandchildren to add to their blossoming family, was helping him even more. Harley, Ron, and Hermione were finally going to be home and start their new life. They were finally going to have their family together again.

However, Harley wouldn't realize that her plans of a normal life weren't going to go exactly as planned.

It would become much better.
