"Run child!" Gabriel shouted as he screeched the car to a very illegal stop "Run like Umbrigde is behind you!"

Castiel flung the door open, and ran out, narrowly missing an old lady with a dog.

"Sorry." he panted over his shoulder.

He had to get the last book. He had to.

He sidestepped through the doors that were hardly a foot apart and ran through the library. The display had to be at the back, didn't it?

As he slowed down to avoid crashing into the display of a dark haired boy on a broomstick with a white owl flapping around his head. He smiled.

There was one book left on the stand.

And it was snatched up by another boy in jeans.

Castiel's eyes widened.

He brandished his wand, it may have been a fake one, but he could, and he would, take someone's eye out.

Even if their eye was a very nice green colour... And it belonged to a very handsome boy.

"Give it back you hornswagggling son of a muggle!" he yelled, the point of his Neville Longbottom wand only a few centimetres away from the other boys face.

The boy went cross-eyed to keep it in view and raised himself up on is tiptoes to glare at Castiel.

"Not if you were Dumbledore himself!" the boy roared back, a hint of a smile at the corners of his eyes.

Too soon.

"My father will hear about this!"

The other boy sank slowly down off his tiptoes and placed the book down.

"Mine won't. He's too busy drowning himself in Firewhiskey."

"Sorry Sammy..." he muttered as he walked past Castiel.

"Wait." Castiel grabbed the boy by his shoulder.

Before he could say anything else, Anna, the librarian, ran up.

She knew Castiel by face, as a result of him coming in here so often, before and after school. Anna would put new books aside if she thought Castiel would like them.

Her faces softened when she saw it was Castiel.

"Hey, Castiel. I was wondering when you were going to show up."

Castiel smiled back, but he didn't let go of the boy, who was staring at the floor.

Castiel couldn't be certain if those were tears or just the light.

"I've got something for you. After you didn't show up in the first five minutes, I figured I would save one for you."

Castiel looked up at her with wide eyes.

"Wha-"

The boy had looked up too. He turned to gaze at the last book on the display.

Anna reached up and pulled a hardback out from behind another display of motor racing magazines.

"Here you go." She said simply and walked off.

Castiel released the boy and darted back to grab the other book.

The boy, a few disbelieving seconds behind him, froze and stared at Castiel with two books in his hands.

Castiel held one out to the boy.

"In case someone else decided to grab it and run." he explained.

The boy smiled, still unsure of what had happened. "We could've taken him down."

"Or her. Have you ever seen an angry fangirl?" Castiel made his face haunted and scared. "Wands everywhere and the hats..."

The boy laughed.

"I'm Castiel." he said.

"I'm Dean."

"As in Dean Thomas?"

Dean nodded seriously. "Yes, my father named me after someone in HP that was not Harry or Ron."

Castiel laughed.

"I gotta go. My brother's waiting for me."

Castiel nodded. Gabriel probably was as well. Well, he was probably in the massive sweetshop, blowing his weekly allowance on strawberry laces and lollipops. What was it about lollipops? You were enjoying your own flavoured spit!

"Sammy?" Dean looked at Castiel with a mix of confusion and... Slight anger.

"How do you..."

"You muttered 'Sorry Sammy' earlier..."

"Oh... Yeah. He's my kid brother. He reads them then I read them. In return he doesn't give me spoilers when I'm reading them and I don't go and hunt online for spoilers. Came so close in Half-blood Prince."

"How old is Sammy?"

"Dean!" Screeched a blur of black and blonde. It came running at them in a speed not possible for how small it looked. Anna stormed out of her office, saw the small indistinct shape and simply turned around and shut the door.

The thing collided with Dean, who almost fell, if Castiel hadn't been holding him up. (Does that make sense...?)

The blob turned out to a child with long floppy blondish hair and hazel eyes.

"Dean? Dean? Did you get it?"

He looked around ten, but he could have been younger. He was pretty damn skinny. Now he compared the two brothers, he realised that Dean was skinny too. He should've weighed a lot more than what he did.

Dean held up the hardback book, with 'HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS' written on it.

Sammy's eyes grew so wide, Castiel was thinking of telling him to blink or something because human eyes should not be that big.

"Oh. My. Rowling." Gasped the small boy.

Dean rolled his eyes and looked back at Castiel.

"Here comes the Nerdgasm."

Castiel smiled, then suddenly remembered that he was holding Dean up and his arms were beginning to hurt.

Sammy was wearing jeans and a heavy metal T-shirt that hung off him a bit too much. He suddenly felt sorry for the brothers.

Dean had tried to get Sammy his favourite book and it was only because Anna was so nice that he had gotten it. Both brothers were skinny, Dean more so. Neither of their clothes fit well and what Castiel had heard of their father wasn't the best.

"Cool, cool, Sammy but we gotta go. Dad's waiting." Sam looked up at his older brother with his face screwed up for a minute then he sighed and got to his feet.

"Yup, sure. Seeya Dean's friend-who-also-likes-HP-and-what's-your-fave-character?"

"Neville all the way!"

"Leville or Nuna?"

"...Nuna. You ship it?"

"Hell yeah!"

"What else?"

Dean's phone began to ring, loud in the library.

There was a loud sigh from Anna's office.

Sam instantly looked guilty, putting the book carefully in his bag.

Dean's face was screwed up as he nodded.

"I know. Yup, I'll do more. No... Sir this was a one-off. Sammy was looking forward to it... No Dad. Real hunters have money to afford these things. Special things. Drink and whiskey is not special."

Dean hung up, his face tortured.

"Sorry Sammy. Bye Castiel, see you around?" The boy looked hopeful, as he backed away with Sammy looking at the ground.

"Yup. See you then."

Dean grinned and turned around. As Castiel watched them, he saw a long, black car draw up and Dean and Sammy get inside. As the man behind the wheel drove away, between Dean's nods, he saw Dean smile and wave back at him.

Yes Dean's OOC, he wouldn't fight back against his father, but nobody can go all solider like forever? Plus it's an AU. I know I haven't updated in ages, I said I would do it on Monday, but for the last three days I've been developing a very profound bond to my toilet. Then I went to the fair and man that was fun. Nobody would go on the Cage (The Meteorite, big spinny dish shaped thing, where you stand up in it and when it turns up in the air, you get pressed to your seat. It's really fun)

Anyways, I hope all of you have a nice weekend (SMILE ITS THE EASTER HOILDAYS, EVEN IF YOU DON'T CELEBRATE EASTER YOU GET IT OFF unless you're in Australia in which case its Autumn? Fall?)

Seeya kiddos.

Fez.
