Chapter 28

It had been months. Months since the fight between Fox and Krystal. School was over and back again, but that didn't matter to them. They hadn't been out on an actual date in longer than that. Fox had been busy with work for months, it was September, and their fight was in March. School was out but Fox had been so swamped in work and his make up schoolwork that he had no time for anything.

"Sorry Krystal but I can't right now, I've still got schoolwork to work on. Maybe sometime later this week we can go out." Was their usual conversation. Krystal was patient with him, she knew how important all of this was to him, and she wanted him to be as happy as he could. She couldn't deny however, that she wasn't as happy as she used to be.

She missed going out with Fox at least once a week, and seeing him every day even if it wasn't a date. She thought about him so much, and she ached in the thought of him being so close to her but so far away at the same time.

"What am I going to do? He's just so busy and it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon." She said to Lucy as she sobbed. "Don't worry about it Krystal. He'll come around soon. I'm sure that he still likes you as much as he did when you two could still go out every week."

At that remark Krystal burst into tears, thinking of when she could still see her boyfriend out on dates. "Oops, uh….. sorry about that Krystal."

Lucy had come over to Krystal's house to comfort her, but it appeared that her efforts were being counterproductive. "Amanda and Katt are out with Slippy and Falco, while I'm stuck here all by myself" Krystal said as she sobbed.

Then Lucy thought. "Okay, now this may seem a little extreme, but just trust me." Krystal looked up from her sobbing with hopeful turquoise eyes. "Just go to him and tell him you're going out tonight. He cares about you Krystal, he'll go with you if you go straight to him and be sweet about it."

'That'll never work' Was the first thing that came to the vixen's mind. "Lucy that's…" She actually thought about it. "That may actually be so obvious enough that it may actually work" She was finally happy, for the first time in quite some time.

"Well go on! You need to go get ready! It's only 2 right now you need to go get him!"

Krystal knew she was right, she scrambled to her feet. She had so much to do, she had to pick an outfit, brush her hair, take a shower, and she didn't know how long she had. "Lucy can you stay here? I need your opinion on what to-" Before she finished Lucy was already getting up.

"Nope, I can't. You've gotta decide by yourself, I hope you guys have a good time!" She said with a vigorous smile as she walked out the door.

"Oh geez, it's been so long and I don't even know what to do." She said to herself. "What are you talking about?" Her dad asked as he and her mother walked into the room.

"Oh! Uh well, Lucy has decided that I need to just get fixed and go to Fox's house and tell him that we need to go out." Her parents both laughed a little. "What? I….I miss him." Her parents laughter turned into sensitive eyes and they both hugged her.

"Go get him sweetie." Her mother told her. Krystal felt a tear form in her eye as she walked into her room to find out what clothes she wanted to wear. She was ready at 3. She came out of her room with her skin tight blue jeans, brown leather boots up to her knees, and the shirt that Fox bought for her on Christmas.

"Have fun sweetheart" Her dad told her as she walked out the door with her purse. She smiled and looked at him one last time and walked out to the cool Corneria air.

She knocked on the door of Fox's house to be greeted by Vixy. "Hi there Krystal sweetie! Is there something you need? Fox didn't tell us you were coming." Krystal looked a little unsure, she didn't think of what to do in a scenario like this.

"Uh well um… I didn't think of a scene like this so I guess being honest won't hurt. I need you and Mr. James help with Fox." Vixy was intrigued by the younger vixen's statement. "Well of course, come in come in!" She shooed the girl into the house and sat her down on the couch adjacent from James and herself.

"Well, I'm going to ask him to take me out tonight, just that simple." She said. The older foxes were puzzled. "Well, where do you need us to help then?" James asked her. "Can you just support me? It's been so long, I… I miss him so much." She began to sob a little. "Vixy and James nodded at each other and stood up. "Come on the Krystal, you've got a date to go on." James told her with a confident voice.

She opened the door to his room and walked in by his desk. He looked up at her confused. "Uh, hey Krystal, what are you doing here?" She took a deep breath. "Fox, I want you to take me out tonight to corner café, it's been way too long since we've been out on a date. I've missed you."

Fox sighed and stood up. "Krystal, we've had this talk before. I just ca-" His dad walked in and stopped him.

"Son, it's been months, she wants to spend time with you. You heard her, she misses you. Fox, take her out, live your high school life. I know you understand this work, we'll take care of these sheets. Now go throw on your uniform and take her out, you hear me?" Fox was beside himself, he didn't know what to say.

"Krystal I'm- I mean for the past few month's I- I've- I've missed you too." James went to Fox's closet and found his uniform and threw it straight at it's owner. "Listen to your dad." He told his son. "R-right, be right back Krystal!" He went and quickly changed into his uniform and took Krystal's hand.

"Thank you Vixy and James, so much" She whispered before being led outside. They just waved and smiled as the two foxes walked outside. They hopped into the convertible and shot off towards the café. Fox almost missed the turn into it, it had been so long since he had been there. They walked in and took their seats at a booth for two.

The waiter came over and smiled. "Haven't seen you two in a while, can I get you some drinks?" "Uhh yeah, I'll have a Dr. Rocket, and she'll take a Mountain Pop." Fox told the nice waiter. He left and Krystal grabbed Fox's hand, "It's so sweet that you remember what I like to drink." He just chuckled and returned the grasp, "How could I forget?"

He smiled and looked into her sapphire eyes, 'Man I've missed those' He thought to himself. She laughed and he knew why, "I've missed your eyes too" She told him with a happy smile.

The waiter returned with their drinks and sat them down gently, "Now then, what would you two like to eat?" "Uh well, I guess I should have looked at the menu while you were gone" Fox said laughing along with the other two. Krystal looked over around Fox and saw that the café now had a dance floor since they had last been here. "Actually, can we wait a while until we eat Fox? I wanna dance some"

Fox turned around and saw the dance floor, then looked back at the waiter. "If you don't mind, could you give us a little time?" The waiter just laughed a little, "Well I don't see why not. Just come and sit back down and I'll be back over" He said with a smile as he put his pen and paper away and walked off.

"Come on, let's go!" Krystal said, she had gotten up in the blink of an eye and had grabbed Fox's arm and was tugging on it. They walked out onto the dance floor that was blinking all different colors in the square neon tiles. Krystal began to dance across from Fox as he slowly began to awkwardly move his arms and legs around.

"What's wrong?" She asked her boyfriend. Fox leaned in close and whispered "I uh….. I don't know how to dance"

Krystal just laughed a little, "Sure you do, we danced together at my house with everyone, remember?" Fox vaguely remembered that story that she told him. He began to dance as best he could remember.

But dancing wasn't the only thing he forgot.

He had forgotten his feelings for Krystal entirely. He forgot how much he missed seeing her, how much he wanted to be around her. He forgot what it was like to be around her, as if all of this was new to him again.

"I remember now" He said with a smile as he began to move more fluidly and smoothly. He and Krystal drew the attention of the crowd and soon everyone formed a circle around them to view the dancing.

"Wow, best dancing ever." She said as she sat down. "I didn't even think we'd draw the attention we did, I guess we're just that good." He told her with a wink. The waiter came back and asked them what they wanted to eat. " If you don't mind, just a small pizza." Krystal told the waiter. He told them it would only be five minutes and it would be out.

"This is perfect." She said as she closed her eyes.

The pizza was back soon and they chowed down on it fast. "Oh well look at that, I hope your parents don't mind you being back a little later than we usually were." Krystal looked at his watch and it was half past 10 already. "Oh well, if they are then they are. This night has been worth it."

He felt so welcomed by her. He was right, he did forget everything he felt about her, and how she felt about him.

"Krystal." He said. She looked up and she was greeted by a warm kiss on her lips.

"We need to get you home, let's go" He said as he smiled, and she smiled back. He held her hand the entire way back home. She missed driving the lit up city streets with him at night. They drove back to her house and he walked her to the porch.

"I had such a great time tonight Fox, I've missed you so much." Fox felt so terrible for doing this to her. "I've never had such a great time in my life Krystal. I'm so sorry that I've done this to you."

They embraced in a tight hug. They held their hug for at least five minutes.

"Goodnight Krystal." He told her and sealed it with a kiss. She smiled and reluctantly walked away.

Once she shut the door Fox stood there alone in the dark and sighed to himself.

"I love you"
