Chapter 41
"Why didn't you tell us earlier?" Vixy asked Fox as they got home together. "I just didn't know how to tell you guys really, and now I kinda wish I hadn't got my memory back, I have no idea what to do now." They all felt the unsure mood surrounding the conversation, they hadn't thought about what would happen if Fox got his memory back.
"Okay well let's just look at what we know, how much exactly do you remember?" James asked his son. Without hesitation, "Everything. Ever since I met Krystal and when you guys got me my car, and the ordeal from homecoming both years. I remember pretty much all of it. I remember everything that's happened this year so far too, why is Krystal dating Panther? What made her think that was a good idea?" His parents were astonished at just how much he really did remember. "Maybe you should talk to the guys about this? Maybe they can help more since they're around Krystal more than us?" Vixy suggested to her son. Fox stopped and thought for a moment and figured that was the best idea. He called his friends and they agreed that they would meet up at the corner café later on.
Once they all met up it was a bit of silence as they sat down. "Now guys we've got a bit of a venture we may be headed on. Or a venture that I'm going on that I may need some advice on." The guys just laughed a little bit thinking it was some kind of joke, but they caught on that it was a bit of a deal to Fox. "The thing is… I got my memory back."
At first the guys looked happy, but once again realized things aren't as they seem. "So then, what does this mean?" Slippy asked, curious of just that. "Well, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I don't know exactly what it means myself, I still remember everything before and after my memory loss." "So then that means you know about…" Bill asked as Fox nodded his head, answering his question as he ended it. "I really didn't see it as a big deal, figured it was alright since you didn't like her any more and maybe it'd help her get over you. So now you like her again?" Falco asked with a concerned tone.
"I think so, but part of me says she's too attached to Panther. You guys know, he took some cheap shots last night and beat me up, that's how I got my memory back." They didn't know about this, Falco stood up abruptly ready to storm out the door looking for the cat, but sat back down when he realized how rash and unruly his action would be, not to mention counterproductive. "Right, so then what do you think we should do?" He said as he sat down.
"Guys this is what I'm trying to say, I called us here together because we have to find out what to do, I'm clueless. I lost Krystal because of my poor actions and unintentionally drove her away, now that she's attached to Panther, I don't know if I'll get her back. But even if I don't it's not about getting her back, it's about getting her away from him. He said some things about her that weren't good, and she said she could sense some not so good things." They all rolled their eyes, "Tell us something we don't know. We have no place breaking them up, but you're the only one who does. But that can't be easy to do, and it may not make you look good either." Bill told them as they sat at their table.
They were beat on ideas, they had no idea on what they should do. "Well maybe just adjourn this meeting and think on our own?" They all nodded to Slippy's suggestion. There was a hooded figure that was seated in the booth that was a few feet away from them, and it looked like this figure had been watching them the whole time. "Let's get outta here, that person's done nothing but stare at us the whole time."
As Fox said that the hooded figure turned his head and pulled his hood over his head a little. 'Those claws…' Fox thought as he saw the figure's hand.
"Foxie! You coming?" Falco asked as they were almost to the door. "Yeah yeah, I'm coming." Fox got up and saw his friends walk out, then he walked over to the booth and sat opposite of the figure.
"So then, what brings you here?" He asked the mysterious hooded figure. He heard a gruff chuckle and voice, "You're even smarter than I thought you were, guess my hand gave it away, least this way I wouldn't have to drag you over here."
The hand with massive claws came out one more time and pulled the hood off his head, the hooded figure was Wolf.
"What brings me here? I'm here to help you. I'm the only one who can help you, according to what you say." Fox leaned back and clasped his hands together, "This is no chance meeting, is it, Wolf?" He just laughed that rough chuckle once again. "No it's not fella, I knew Panther did that to you, what an idiot. I didn't know it'd give you your memory back, how'd you like it when I threw you into that window?" "Last I recall we were the ones won that fight." They both just chuckled together at the remark.
"So then, how can you help me?" Fox asked as he messaged Falco saying to go on without him. "Because your friends aren't right, you haven't got a chance to get girly back if you break them up, even once she realizes that it's best for her, which it is." Fox was absolutely shocked at this coming around from Wolf. "Yeah I know I'm some softie now right? Well look Panther ain't no good for her. He's seen at least two other girls while he's been with her, pretty sure Fara's been one of those girls."
Fox was more astonished by the second, "Oh, man I hate that for you." Wolf just rolled his eyes, "Yeah, thanks I guess. Shoulda guessed, he runs around with anything that's got lady parts and she seems to like that attitude more than mine so whatever, I don't need her anyways, she was annoying. But look your friends have got it half right, the only way you can get her back is if she and Panther are over, and you can't be the one to do that." "So what part are you not telling me? How can you help and how are you the only one that can help me?"
Wolf just shook his head. "Maybe you aren't as smart as I thought, I'm the one who has to do it, that's the only way it'll work out for you."
'What? Wolf is helping me? After all the bad things he's done?' "Why do you want to help me? What makes you think I can trust you?"
Wolf just sighed, as if getting more negative each time Fox asked a question. "Have I ever given you a real reason not to trust me? I coulda told girly that you threw her boyfriend through some tables, but I didn't. That fight, I coulda pulled that knife out any time I wanted, but waited until the fight was over, the better question is why shouldn't you trust me? And why do I want to help you? How's about you shut your mouth, shake my hand on this deal and trust me?" He had a grin as he stuck his clawed hand out across the table, but Fox wasn't sure still.
"Look, everyone knows I ain't exactly the nicest of guys down at the school, and everyone knows that you are. If Fox McCloud breaks up this seemingly nice couple, he's takin' a nose dive. If Wolf O' Donnell breaks em' up, what've I got to lose?" Fox thought it over and stretched his hand out and firmly shook Wolf's hand.
"Thanks Wolf. I don't care what others say about you, you're not a bad guy." Wolf just rolled his eyes and puffed and they both stood up, "Right right, wipe that look off your mug and stop getting sentimental on me, the job ain't done yet." Fox just laughed a bit, "But coming from a not so good guy I imagine it'll be done in a flawless way, given the line of work." That caused Wolf to laugh a small bit as he walked out of the café.
'He really isn't so bad a guy.' Fox thought as he imagined how this plan would work out.
Totally a reference to me playing as Wolf in Smash Bros, I felt wrong playing as him instead of Fox, so I had to give him more of a spotlight. Plus he's one of the characters that has a dang ton of potential when it comes to development in the series. My B on not mentioning the claws thing any other time, I'm starting to base his imagery model off of his Smash appearance now and he had huge claws in it. Hope you guys enjoy the small arc here :D
