Chapter 47

That weekend was spent planning, Lucy and Fox were certain Krystal was up to something, but they didn't know what. The fact that Krystal's mom was at school at the same time more than once at the same time made them suspicious. Krystal's mom wouldn't come get her daughter from school every day if she wasn't there, right? "Well that's true, maybe she's…well I dunno." Lucy said as she sat across from Fox at a table in the café.

"Maybe she's just changed her schedule?" Fox shook his head. "I don't think so, I'm pretty sure you can't change your schedule this time of the semester, when it's almost over. And we'd see her in the hallway." Lucy shook her head, knowing he was right. "So what's up with all this? I just can't seem to figure out where she is, this doesn't make any sense at all." Fox just groaned, this was proving to be more of a challenge than he thought. He was now relaxed all the time, he did care about the well being of Krystal, but not in a romantic sense. He wanted her to be happy, but if he doesn't know where she is how can he tell if she's happy?

Fox's ears and eyes quickly perked up. "I got it, her parents like us. We'll just go to her house and ask to hang out, not say anything. Are they really gonna say that we can't hang out with her? Because there's no doubt that they'll say no to us, they love us the most." Lucy's rabbit ears also perked up quickly at the genius idea. "You're so right! Then she won't have any time to hide or run away! Where else would she be anyways?" Fox nodded along as he quickly called for the checks and they paid and quickly headed for Krystal's house.

They parked the convertible back at Fox's house and walked down to Krystal's house. "Okay, so first you ask if we can hang out, then I'll say anything else if needed." Fox instructed Lucy as she nodded to his plan. He knocked at the door, prepared for anyone to answer it.

"Hi there Mrs. Diane! Is Krystal here? Do you mind if us three hang out?" "Well that's nice of you Lucy but Krystal's not around right now." Fox's ear twitched a little bit as he turned around. 'I could've sworn that…' His attention turned back to the vixen woman that was standing in the door.

"And right now myself and Rick are cleaning the house up, so a different day would be much better." Fox stepped up beside Lucy as he prepared to speak. "Well maybe we could help you out until she gets home? We don't have anything else to do today." Diane just shook her head. "No no Fox, that's quite alright. You kids just go on and have fun, sorry for the inconvenience. Have a nice day!" She shut the door as the teens turned around. "Well alright then, that plan didn't work out." Lucy said as she and Fox trotted down back towards his house.

"Now is it just me or did that meeting seem… kinda weird for a bit?" Lucy just bobbed her head and ears left to right for a little bit. "Well, sorta. I mean Krystal doesn't usually do anything on the weekends without us since she doesn't really have any friends besides us. And if she's doing something without us it's with her parents, so that doesn't make a whole lot of sense." Fox scratched his head as they walked. "Did you happen to hear anything while we were talking to her mom?" "Sorta, sounded like some leaves brushed behind us, but that was probably just the wind."

"I'm not so sure, you know that yesterday after we talked I heard something behind me, but when I turned around there was nothing there." "Weird" She said in response as they reached Fox's house.

"We can't just quit after one setback though." She said as they sat down in the living room. "What setback? Is something going on?" James asked as he heard them from the kitchen. "Well you see, Krystal's missing. Not kidnapped or anything, she's not at school." James sat down on the couch opposite Fox and Lucy. "Her mom's there after school every day to pick her up, but we never see her in class or the hallway." Lucy concluded Fox's statement. "It's been like that all week. Don't know why but it has been." He told his dad.

"We just went to her house to see her but apparently she isn't around, even though she doesn't go anywhere unless it's with us or her parents." James scratched his chin. "Have you tried calling her? Is she just not gonna answer and ignore her friends?" Fox and Lucy just looked at each other with blank stares. "Why don't we ever think of the simple and easy idea?" They both said with a groan as James laughed a little bit.

Lucy pulled out her phone and called Krystal, no answer. Just a minute later she got a text from Krystal. 'Can't talk right now, sorry.' Was all that was typed. "Okay then, so that's a little bizarre." James said in response to the new situation. Vixy came in and they filled her in on the situation. "Well maybe you should ask her mom on Monday when she comes to the school." They liked that idea, and it was the closest thing they had to a real lead so they prepared for it over the weekend.
Fox walked up to the spot by the locker as usual in the morning and leaned on the locker by Lucy. "Seen her any today?" She just shook her head. Fox just rolled his eyes a little bothered by this dilemma. "We have to hurry and find her, I don't feel good about this." Fox was right, even with his relaxed attitude he was concerned about this. "I just don't understand it really. She gets here without us knowing, she's here without us knowing, she leaves without us knowing. How does she do it?" They thought on it for a bit then realized it.

"It's because she's reading our thoughts. There's no other way. I don't know the range from which she can read thoughts, but clearly that's what she's doing and we knew nothing about it." Fox nodded his head, that had to be it. "So then, how do we catch her? If she knows what we're gonna do?" Fox thought on it, they wouldn't catch her if she knew their moves.

"She told me they don't always work, that's why I could hear her! Those times I thought something was behind me, that had to be her! They didn't work then, so she was running away before she was found out and didn't know what was gonna happen." Fox had it figured out now, this is how it'd work for them. "So…we basically have to get lucky? Doesn't seem too easy." He raised his finger to tell her to stop and pointed at her. "That's where Mrs. Diane helps us. She can give us inside information and we can go from there." Lucy was happy now, they finally had a solid lead on helping their friend. Whether she was around and heard them or not, Krystal's mom was who they would go for after school.

The day went by quickly and Fox ran down to Lucy's locker as soon as he could and they looked out the window. "There she is!" Lucy whispered quickly. "Okay we just need to walk out there with a moderate pace, not too quick but we need to get out there fast. The two teens quickly walked out to the parking lot and pretended they didn't know she was there, then stopped to chat. Lucy looked around and kicked Fox lightly on his leg.

"Okay Mrs. Diane, we need your help with something, something urgent." She sighed to herself, she knew what they wanted.

'Krystal dear, I love you so much.' She thought to herself as she prepared herself.

"You're right, she's here at the school." Fox was surprised for a moment, then realized how she knew he thought that. "Can you please tell us anything else? We want to help." "I know that Fox, and thank you so much. This just suddenly spiraled out of control and I don't even know why. She's been given her assignments and is learning by herself from her books and doing her work. I don't know where, it's probably a different place every day. Please help her, I'm counting on you." Fox and Lucy both smiled and walked away from the car and were happy with their results.

"You know what she said right?" "Well what do you mean really? She said that she was counting on…"

"Me, I'm the only one who can do this, she would've said otherwise if that were the case."

"Good luck Fox" She said to her friend as he headed for his convertible.

As always, it's up to Fox on his own. So originally I was gonna stop for a couple days to really garner ideas, but my Dad came around and dropped me some good leads so if you write a review please be sure to add "Thanks Jake's dad!" to your review. So she's still sort of the main focus, but she's still MIA, so I think that can justify her still being the focus, maybe it doesn't justify it to you guys but that's okay. So one thing I've forgot to say in a few other Author Notes: There are probably not gonna be any more chapters about Fox and the guys going on missions with James. When I first came up with the idea I thought it was super cool, but on down the road it really didn't fit in any more and I couldn't think of anything that'd really make it good so it's probably gonna be cut out. If you liked the concept of it, my B on that. Sorry but I just can't find a way to work it out, they don't really fit in with the concept of this fic. The concept is what they did before they became heroes, and if they're still heroes in high school, eh I just don't like that. So hopefully you guys enjoy this chapter and the coming ones whenever I make them. See ya :D - Jake
