I would like to extend my ever-growing gratitude for my beta, Stella, who is the best beta I could ever ask for.

"Sesshomaru, you will marry Toran! That is final!" Yelled Takeo, Lord of the West.
"There is no way I will marry that filth." Sesshomaru spat, insulted at the very idea of marrying the Panther Clan's daughter. It was disgraceful, not to mention downright disgusting. He would not soil his bloodline and lie with such trash!
"You would do well to listen to me, Sesshomaru." His father warned, noting the discomfort on his son's face. Unfortunately for Takeo, he felt sorry for his son. He didn't want this for Sesshomaru, and hated being the bearer of such terrible news.
"What would you do if This one refused? There is no fate worse than what you have already damned me to." Came his son's remark.
Takeo could only stare at his son. What else was there to say? He was right, after all. He couldn't blame him for the anger he was feeling.
He had felt the same way when his father had given him similar news.
He did not want to mate with Amaya, the daughter of the Moon Castle. Yet when he had come of age, his father held his foot down and had personally made sure that their mating would occur.
He hated internal politics.
He looked to his son with unsure eyes. He looked like Amaya, of that there was no doubt. He was almost a spitting image of his mate.
His heart clenched in his chest. Would he have looked different if…
No, he couldn't continue with these thoughts. There was no point dwelling in the past. But as he looked to his son and saw the confusion written on his face, he couldn't' say anything to change the boy's mind.
So when Sesshomaru walked away from him, he couldn't force himself to try and stop him.
