Kagome did not expect for the woman to speak to her, or to even acknowledge her. Yet here they were, sitting in the gardens together. The Western Lady regarded Kagome equally, allowing her to speak her mind freely.

She was, after all, grieving the loss of a loved one, too.

Disregarded, for her mother had wanted her to be a son. She brought shame upon her family, becoming a worthless daughter. She was clumsy, she was spirited, well learned, and she was defiant of her elders, doing as she pleased.

She was, in essence, a big-footed, inept and unmarriageable daughter.
