Chapter 6: Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie

Nathalie is feeling reluctant to complete this plan, but she goes along with it anyway in hopes that Gabriel will create the most powerful akuma ever. Unfortunately she will also be helping in breaking hearts in the process.

Driving down the road made Nathalie anxious, despite her efforts to help Gabriel with his plans; she wasn't keen on breaking up two people in love, especially one that she cared for. She knew all too well what that was like.

"Nathalie, have you arrived yet?"

Nathalie was in the back seat while the Gorilla drove, she was nervously tapping her fingers on her tablet, "Sir, do you think this is a good idea? I don't think Adrien would like that-"

"Doesn't matter what Adrien likes or dislikes, I'm doing this for Adrien!" There was no point in arguing with him, if she retained anything from working with Gabriel Agreste for so long is that when he makes up his mind he'll stick with it, no matter what. He's persistent that way.

"Yes, sir…"

As they pulled up to the bakery, Nathalie took a deep breath upon entering; she then greeted with happy cheerful faces, "Welcome in!" Sabine was at the back with a tray of croissants while Tom was at the register. "What can we do for you?"

"Good afternoon, I wish to speak with your daughter…"

"I wish to speak with your daughter…" Both looking confused, Sabine called for Marinette from the back; she came out with a fresh tray of heart-shaped macarons. When she saw Nathalie, Marinette stopped just short of the counter.

"Um hi, Mademoiselle Nathalie, what can I do for you?"

Nathalie said nothing, instead she brought her tablet out, tapped on a few buttons, then brought up the screen for Gabriel, "Oh Monsieur Agreste, what a…pleasant surprise, what can we do for you?"

Gabriel cleared his throat, "First off I'd like to say that you made quite an impression at the showcase, your outfit choice made a splash within the fashion community."

Marinette perked up, to be acknowledged by her idol was mind blowing, "With that being said, Miss Dupain-Cheng, your relationship with my son is detrimental to the Gabriel Agreste brand. I demand that you stop seeing him at once."

Where was this coming from? "But... I didn't do anything." She's been nothing but nice and polite since day one, what reason would he have to do this?

Both of her parents walk on either side of her, holding on to comfort her, Tom bellowed, "She loves Adrien and Adrien loves her! You can't stop them—"

Gabriel's monotonous voice interrupted Tom, "If you refuse, I will not hesitate to withdraw Adrien from school, and he will never see his friends again."

Marinette was stunned with shock; she dropped her trap of macarons. Why would he need to go that far? What was so wrong about her that he had to threaten to take his own son out of school? "Adrien doesn't deserve this!"

"Then make the right choice." For a second Nathalie had to look away from the crestfallen teenager, young love was the most precious and pure love there was, and he was destroying it for the sake of his son.

Heartbroken, Marinette began to cry, covering her eyes with her fist now that her hands were free. Seeing his daughter's anguish, Tom's thunderous voice echoed throughout the store, "Get out of my bakery! Now!"

Nathalie nodded, troubled, she regrettably left the shop and entered the car. Turning the tablet back to talk to Gabriel, she sighed. "Nathalie, phase one is complete, return home at once, we need to prepare for this evening."

Still surrounding their daughter, Sabine and Tom consoled Marinette as she continued to sob her eyes out; Tom turned her around to hug her tightly. With her face muffled by her father's tummy, Marinette lifted her face briefly, "Maman, Papa, what am I supposed to do? I love Adrien so much!"

They both gave each other grim stares, "Un-Unfortunately hunny, there's not much any of us can do…."

"Until Adrien turns 18, Gabriel is in charge of Adrien…"

Marinette's crying got louder as more of reality hit her brain, "Why would he do this? It's not fair!" She squeezed her father tighter.

While Tom had engulfed with his large arms, Sabine was behind rubbing her back and stroking her hair, "Mon cheri, you may not be able to date Adrien anymore, but at least you can still see him at school…"

"It's not the same…" Marinette finally removed herself from her dad and wiped her face away from her tears, just to have them replaced shortly after.

"Good afternoon, I'm here to pick-" A customer came in, but upon seeing the mess on the floor; they halted. "I could come back later…"

Sabine motioned Tom and Marinette towards the back so that she could help the customer, Tom pushed Marinette through the back door, "Marinette, why don't you head upstairs for now, we'll take care of the mess. Just go relax for right now…"

How was she supposed to relax, her life was over! Marinette sniffed then nodded before slumping her way upstairs; she made it to the second floor when Tikki came out of hiding, "Marinette, are you okay?"

"No Tikki, I'm not!" She clutched her chest as she continued her ascent to her room, "Adrien and I just got together, after so long of me trying to confess, all for nothing!" When they reached her trap door and made it inside, Marinette collapsed on her rug, curling into a ball and finishing up her crying session.

"Marinette? Marinette?"

Hours later, she was awakened by the sound of her name being called, "Marinette, wake up! It's your mother…" Tikki was hovering over her ear while tapping on her cheek.

She groaned, sitting up Marinette realized that she had fallen asleep on the floor, probably after crying so much. Marinette rolled to her side then crawled to her trapdoor, when she opened it, it was Sabine. "Mama? What time is it?" She yawned as she rubbed her eyes.

"It's around 1700, how are you doing?" Sabine reached up and caressed her daughter's cheek, getting a good look at the redness in her normally bluebell eyes. Marinette didn't say anything, she simply turned her face away and sniffed. Seeing her daughter in such great pain, Sabine climbed up a few more steps then sat on the door's opening; she collected Marinette in her arms, "I know you don't want to, but this thing isn't going to go away, nor will be any easier on you once you get it done. What I'm trying to say is that things don't always turn out like we plan, but if you roll with the punches, things will eventually work themselves out…"

Nodding, Marinette stayed put as her mother released her and started back downstairs, "You should get going before it's too late sweetheart, oh and take an umbrella with you, it looks like rain…"

Marinette soon stood up, she glanced over to her "Adrien wall" then, wiping her face one last time she headed downstairs herself; Tikki made an appearance again, "Marinette?"

"Come on, Tikki. Let's go and get this over with…" As she approached the main door to the house, Marinette stopped to grab an umbrella like her mother suggested. When she reached down to take it, she stopped when she saw Adrien's umbrella, from the first day they met. "I guess we've gone full circle…"
