"I know! Don't say it!" She kissed him quickly. "I'm sorry! But!" She paused dramatically and reached into the first bag. "I have presents!" She pulled out several boxes and laid them on the console table with exaggerated flare. He whistled low and grinned at her, picking up the small crystal kit Jacen had spotted last week when they all went for lunch. "I know! I'm so winning "Best Mom of the Year" award." She smiled beautifully at him, eyes shining. Han laughed, he loved 'at home Leia', he loved it that she got be perfectly happy and free here with him and their three children. "The Galleria was ridiculously busy, I didn't think I'd get a speeder home." She shed her coat on the sofa, and started pulling apart the other bags.
"But that's not all! I have wrapping paper - and yes! It's orange!"
"Jay'll love this." he picked up the wrapping, turning it over., imagining the excited face of his young daughter.
"I hope so. Do you know how hard it is to find orange wrapping paper?"
"Hard?"
"Very. I had to go to three different stores. Everyone has pink; no one has orange."
"Pink's no good. Oh this is great." He picked up the glow-in-the-dark galaxy map she had found for Jaina. "I always wanted one of these." he added softly to himself, seeming to forget momentarily, that she was there - lost in some long forgotten memory.
Leia stopped and turned to face her husband, her heart suddenly heavy. He never spoke about growing up alone, but watching him with their kids would occasionally break her heart. She had come from a loving family, surrounded by people to cared about her. Worried after her and wanted her. Han had been alone his whole life, until he met Chewbacca. Alone, with people who used him; hurt him.
Family was important to both of them, having lost so much.
Placing the map on table, he looked over at her, "Did you remember cards?" He asked, voice husky.
