A Great Lost - Ninja Turtles

Chapter 7: Take Care of Them

Crossing the roofs of New York, I was on my way to April and Casey's building as I knew it would be the route Leo was going to take to get home. It was the closes way to the lair and when I was only a few blocks away I saw a hoard of Foot ninjas on a few buildings ahead. And there, right in the middle of the hoard, was my brothers. Within a millisecond, both sais was steadily in my hands and I had rushed to the building to help them.

"No look out!" I yelled at myself as soon as I put a foot on the building.

Though of course my warning wasn't and couldn't be heard as I was just a spectator of a memory I had repressed and the ghostly form of my dead brother had forced me to relive so that I could remember something which I knew not what to look for.

Just a few seconds after I had gotten on the roof, I was kicked in my shell and send flying across the roof till the other side and slammed into the wall.

Though reliving a memory which I would rather would remained repressed, I was extremely relieved that I did not feel any pain.

"Finally. What took you so long?" Mikey asked from somewhere to my right.

Quickly gaining my composure, I stood up as I rubbed the bump which going to appear on my head in the few minutes to come. "I would've come sooner if it wasn't for the party the pigeons was throwing. Waddya think?! I came as fast as I could!" I roared at him as I threw myself into the fight.

I managed to block two swords that were aiming to chop my head clean off. Two regular Foot soldiers tried to use their combined strength to push me down on my knees. But I fought them back by pushing the swords upwards with my sais before I made a full roundhouse kick which sent them falling on their backs. I took the opportunity and jumped down on both of them, plunging my sais deep into their chests. Both of the soldiers screamed before they began to choke on the blood which was pouring into their puncture lungs.

As my body raised itself up on its feet, I tried to scan through the masses of Foot in a try to see how my brother was doing as I had not gotten much glimpse of him when the fight had occurred. Though as it had not been my though back then, I had no chance at looking for something which my body hadn't been searching for then.

Turning away from the dying soldiers at my feet, I turned to their comrades instead. Immediately I had to dodge a swing of a sword and had to do a few back flips to gain some distance. Though it brought me into a few more soldiers. As soon as I got my feet on the ground, I had felt something run down my upper right arm and turned to look at the pretty nasty cut.

Ignoring it I had turned my attention to the four soldiers which was approaching from every direction. The twin sword wielding solder behind me swung his sword down on me, but I threw up my arms and blocked them with my sais and tried to push the blades away. The bo staff wielding solder came up in front of me and was about to ram the end of it into my stomach. Seeing the other two approaching in the corner of my eyes, I had known I needed to get out of this deadlock before they tried to attack me too.

Pushing up at the katanas which was holding me in place, I quickly threw myself to the left as the swords pressed themselves down to the roof. The staff wielding soldier struck his staff into his comrade in the head which was meant for my stomach, before he could stop himself. I threw my sais into their throats and quickly jumped up on my feet. I bent to grab my weapons and as they were pulled out, there was a gurgling sound from the two soldiers. I ran up to the third man and roundhouse kicked him into the fourth one, which made both of them lose their balance and fell off the edge.

"Raph!" I heard one of my brothers call out, though I couldn't hear exactly which one as the thunder, rain and fighting kind of drowned it.

The new ninja stroke the air at me with his giant axe and I had to keep my focus on the edge of the weapon so I wouldn't be cut in half. "I'm a bit busy here!" I'd managed to reply as I crouched. I managed to jump to the side just in time as the axe slammed down in the roof where I had just stood. With the axe stuck, I took both of my sais and penetrated them through the man's chest.

I was about to turn around when something sharp grasped my left side. A warning had gone through my head back then and I had fully turned 'round and noticed I suddenly was between two swords wielded by the same solder. I had not been sure who was more surprised, me or the ninja. None the less, I had recovered much quicker and had grabbed the man's hand and twisted it until he let go of the sword, screaming in pain. Forcing the man on his knees, I had sliced his throat before the man was about to plead for his life.

Finally having a moment to look over the situation, I had turned first to see how bad my wound to the side was. It was bleeding and it had been painful. But as I was no doctor I hadn't been able to tell the true extent of the wound. Though I hadn't felt dizzy so I had concluded that it wasn't so bad.

The true extent of the wound had been that it was deep enough to need stitches, though it had not been life threatening as we had managed to get home in time. Though it had been the last on my mind when we had gotten home.

Then I had had time to look over to see how my brothers was doing.

Mikey had a few nasty cuts over his arms and legs, but his nun-chucks was spinning fluently in his hands. He had a few ninjas by his feet and was dealing with the ones that came at 'im. But my baby brother was losing energy and his hits had begun to turn sloppy. Donny on the other hand was looking pretty good. Not too many cuts and just a few bruises. He may not be the best of us at fighting, but he could easily and quickly analyze his enemy's intensions and come up with a counterattack before ya realized he was at a disadvantage. Last I had turned to look for Leo, who was faring quite well despite the fact that he had just recently been in an intensive fight. A lot of Foot ninjas laid dead by his feet and he kept on taking them down, never letting anyone of them too close.

I had had no idea where he had suddenly got his energy from. But at the time I had been grateful that he hadn't given up. Though looking at him now with this new perspective there was something which didn't feel right. He was not really fighting them, just keeping them at bay, nor did they really approach 'im either. Though before I could reflect on it more, my body turned away from Leo and back into the fight.

I charged at a ninja that was about to go for Mikey's back. Pushing the man in his face, I had felt the crack underneath my hand. I had been pretty sure I'd managed to break the man's' jaw.

The man turned to look at me and I got just as disgusted now as then as I saw the dislocated open jaw which was spitting out blood and teeth. It was like it had been taken from a horror movie. Though the devious smile I had gotten then returned.

Seeing the man's face, I had decided to put it back in place or at least try pulling it completely off. Though as I was about to go after 'im, Leo shouted over the fight.

"We have to retreat!"

"Good idea!" Donny agreed from another direction.

They were overwhelming us and no matter how many enemies we took down, there were plenty that would take their place. It seemed as the Foot had strict orders of killing us for real. Sure they had always wanted us dead, but they seemed to really go for it. Their tactics were still the same though, going after us in full forces and tired us out so that their Tin-can-of-a-boss could finish us off once and for all. We had been through it before, plenty of times to know their fighting styles. But the question had been, would we be able to keep our energy up until Shredder appeared?

Having realized that we probably wouldn't, I had tried to move closer to my brothers. We were all both tired from the nights patrol and the previous fight between ourselves. Even though I knew I could sacrifice myself to take down the Shredder once and for all, I had not been prepared to lose any of my brothers for that. Slowly reaching them, I had seen them with perspective. The three of them was extremely tired with cuts and bruises already beginning to show. If I had allowed myself to feel, then I had surely been too. Searching for a way out, I could only see the ocean of Foot ninjas that surrounded us.

Turning to Leo, I asked, still with irritation in my voice as I had still been angry at him; "What now, oh 'Fearless leader'?"

Suddenly, the ninjas just stopped and backed away, leaving our small team in a small circle. Knowing what was about to come, we had gathered a bit closer to each other in the middle of the ring. The Shredder was about to do his grand appearance for the, how many times had it been now? I wasn't sure, maybe the sixty-eight or so? It was like Mikey had once said; Saki had been watching too many old dramatic movies.

I wanted to scream at my body and brothers to get the hell out of there, but I knew it wouldn't help. So instead I just watched as the familiar metal armor approached from behind the ocean of ninjas. They stood aside as their master made his way over to his sworn enemies which had only been a bunch of kids. Though to him it had not mattered at all.

He came to a stop in front of us and his small rouge amused laughter filled the silence. "Ah, the four imbeciles that call themselves 'ninja turtles'. What a pleasure to see you all here," he said with irony in his normally rough tone.

"I would say the same, but ya know, I ain't sure ya can hear me underneath that tin can you call ahelmet," Mikey mocked with his usual lighthearted tone.

"You should leave, now!" Leo demanded forcefully as he crossed his katanas in front of 'im and took a more protecting stance before us.

"Ah Leonardo, still as commanding as ever. You don't know how glad I am to rid the world of yourself. Then I will have you stuffed and show the world the freak that you truly are."

"Ya'll be dead before tha happens," I roared roughly between my teeth and charged at 'im.

"Raph, no!" Leo yelled and tried to stop me, though wasn't able to.

I had been so focused on Shredder that I hadn't seen the two Elite which was about to come crashing down on me. Leo on the other hand was a bit more sharp-eyed than me and tackled me just in time as the Elite's weapons crushed down in the concrete where I'd just been Leo hadn't given me any time to thank 'im if I had considered it. Instead he pushed 'imself up on his feet and rushed at Shredder 'imself. Both of them disappeared behind the ocean of ninjas and out of my sight.

I had pushed myself up from the roof and wanted to go after them. I had made it my goal to take down the Shredder. But the wall of ninjas didn't let me get through. Instead I was forced to fight the two Elite that had nearly killed me. The spear and the trident wielding Elites attacked in a union and I had do dodge strike after strike, hit after hit, never even given the chance to deflect or attack myself. As one chased me, the other one appeared in the purple smoke just a few feet in front of me.

Fighting the Elite was like fighting at least twenty regular Foot soldiers at once. So with two at my hands took all my attention. Though fortunately for me the regular soldiers stayed at bay, knowing that they could just as easily get killed by stepping in their way.

Though knowing their tactics with the smoke thing, I knew he would swing his weapon before emerging from it and I barely managed to take a step back, feeling the tip of the spear carve into the my plastron, though lightly enough not to leave a mark.

I threw my sai into the smoke, and by the grunt, I knew I had hit my mark. Immediately after, the spear wielding Elite emerged from the smoke and charged at me. The trident wielder came up from behind me and I had to dodge roll to the side once again and ran to gain some much needed distance so that I could've had some time to think on my next action.

Not that they had given me any.

The same strategy repeated itself at least two times, though the Elites took turns in appearing in the smoke. At least I had managed to get my sai back and finally I had enough of their little cat and mouse game. Turning to the regular soldiers which stood at the side line, I ran towards them and the Elites didn't hesitate as they swung their weapons to their comrades and killed a few of them instantly by severing their upper half from their lower one of their bodies. Though there was a few soldiers which was smarter and blocked their attack before they also would get killed.

It had given me the opportunity I had needed and I had taken it without a second thought. I grabbed a hold of a sword which lied abandoned by my feet and I plunged it deep into the spear wielding Elite side. He jerked at the sudden object which completely paralyzed his movements for a moment. The trident wielder quickly came to his aid and slammed me away with the end of his weapon.

I thought I heard them mutter something in Japanese, but it was too low for me to hear what was exchanged between them. Though the trident wielder had refocused his attention on me while the spear wielder let go of his weapon so that he could pull the sword out. I had known that if I was going to take down one with the spear, then I had to do it now before he pulled the sword out.

Turning to the trident wielder, I charged at 'im before he would. Though as he thought I was out to get 'im, a luckily managed to slip on a pool of blood and slide past him, probably surprising 'im just as much as myself. Before I came to a stop, I grabbed the spare and got up on my feet.

"Hey! Asshole!" I roared to the spear wielder, which turned to me in surprise. I'd plunged the spear deep into his stomach, making sure I had gotten some of his virtual organs.

Though being busy with the two Elite, I had still managed to keep an eye on the situation with my brothers.

As the one with the spear was lying on his back, stabbed with his own weapon through the chest. I was well aware of the situation of my brothers. Don and Mikey were both badly injured and they still had one more Elite to take care of. Leo on the other hand was doing pretty well against the Shredder. A few cuts and bruises, but from where he was standing there was nothing serious. Though I myself had a few nasty cuts on my arms, legs and torso and maybe a few broken ribs, if I had let myself feel.

The trident wielder stroke at my left arm, stabbing it just a bit before I could dodged it. Throwing my sai, it stroke against the man's face and cut 'im deep in the cheek.

Both of us had jumped back, giving each other a chance to caught our breaths. The Elite pulled his hand to his cheek to inspect the wound, not looking too pleased with the result. I myself was rolling my shoulders to pop some of the joints back in place. Taking one more deep breath, I charged forward again, cutting in the air with my sais as the Elite dodged them. He gave me a kick to my plastron, sending me flying into my younger brothers and made them hit the roof pretty hard.

Slowly sitting up, Mikey asked concerned between his shallow breaths of pain; "Raph? Dude, ya okay?"

"Yeah, just peachy," I had answered as I put my head to rub at the sore spot that had collided with the roof, knowing I was going to find more bumps on my head when I woke up the next morning. "Never been better..." I stood up and put a hand out to each brother out to help them back up on their feet.

"We have to get out of here-" Donny said behind a painful gasp of breath as he stood up. He put his hand up on the wound to his side and pressed at it to stop the bleeding. "-before they kill us."

"Working on it." I had said and quickly collected my weapons and turned to the two remaining Elite ninjas. The other Foot ninjas still didn't dare to intrude in the fight, not after what they had witness happened with their comrades which had gotten in the way, which was perfectly fine for me. I had had enough with the Elite as it was. "Can you two still fight?" I asked over my shoulder.

"Barley," Don answered me and handed Mikey his bo staff for supporting his injured leg.

"We can't go down now. I've an excellent pizza in the fridge that I've yet to taste," Mikey joked and gave Don his nun chucks.

"So let's take these bastards down once and for all, shall we!" It had been more of a statement than a question and I had pushed myself into a run, targeting the Elite with the twin bladed sword.

The Elite saw me coming and took a defense stance. I took a leap and instead of kicking the man in his gut as I had made myself pretend to do, I threw myself at the wet roof and I had let my body slide past the two Elite. As I had past them, I flipped both of my sais and threw each of them into each backs.

The slide came to a stop and I turned around to see Don and Mikey attack the two Elite. The Foot Elite didn't have the time to get the sais out from their backs and turned to deal with their new opponents.

Mikey tried not to use his leg as much as possible and leaned pretty heavily on the staff. The Elite with the trident seemed to think that he was an easy prey, but as soon as he got closer to Mikey, he took a leap with the staff and kicked the man right in his stomach. He hit the roof and the sai cut in deeper into his back. With Mikey standing on top of 'im, he gazed down on the man. Pulling the end of the staff as high as he possible could managed, he put all his strength in the final blow and thrust the staff into the skull, crushing it.

Don didn't really know how he would be able to take down the remaining Elite with just a nun chuck. But he also knew that with his injured shoulder, he couldn't handle the bo staff as it should've been handled. But as he charged at the Elite, he was determined to kill 'im. Spinning the nun chuck in his hand he took a leap at the Elite's right. The man sliced at his right, but as soon as he let his weapon fall down, Don took a leap to the left and came up on his side, hitting the nun chuck against the blade so it twirled around it. Pulling the blade up in the air, the man couldn't help but to let his weapon slip though his hands.

With me charging his back, I tackled the Elite so he fell face down. Don toke the opportunity to grab the blade and let me move away from the Elite so that he could kill the bastard once and for all. Before he could deliver the final death, a very familiar scream stopped his actions, freezing us all in place.

"NO LEO!" I screamed, desperate to get to his side, though knowing that I soon would.

"Leo!" The three of us yelled in chorus.

My body turned my head to where his scream had come from which was from the other side of the building, over the small ocean of Foot soldiers.

Though finally getting to see my older brother, I quickly regretted that I wanted to see him in the first place as I knew what to expect. Still it had not stopped me from thinking I could have done something to prevent it. But as I had had a hard time believing it back then, I still wanted to deny what I was seeing.

Shredder had one of Leo's katanas through Leo's chest.

"I told you, you are not leaving this roof alive," A glorious laughter came from Saki as he plunged the other one through our brother's shoulder.

"LEO!" All three of us roared in terror as we had finally comprehended what had happened.

We'd watch in horror as Shredder let go of the handles and our oldest brother stumbled back and fell down to his knees.

Without any hesitations, we grabbed the weapons we possible could get our hands on and stormed the remaining Foot ninjas, our own injured long forgotten and cut down those that stood between us and our brother. As we made our way to our brother and Shredder, we hadn't hesitate to attack 'im. Though Shredder grabbed a hold of the handled to one of the swords Leo still had plunged within 'im and forcefully pulled it out. Leo screamed and nearly fell over, trying to get air into his lungs while coughing up a lot of blood.

His scream was one of the biggest reasons to me and my two remaining brothers' nightmares. The only reason to why I knew it was also theirs, was 'cause of the familiar screams my brothers' had just before they had awoken. Hearing it again was much worse than any nightmare could possible oppose with the forged one. It tore into my soul yet again and shattered me from the inside out, though this time I was not clouded by the illusion that he would come out of it alive.

Mikey was the first to reach 'im and swung with Don's bo staff in the air. Shredder easily deflected it and when Mikey came closer to his grip, Shredder plunged his claws to his side, succeeding in ripping up a large gash. Shocked by the pain, Mikey let go of the staff and Shredder grabbed a hold of his arm and lifted 'im up to pierce 'im with the katana.

"Mikey!" I roared and tackled his side and made Shredder drop Mikey, before he stumbled back a few feet.

I knew I had to act quick if I wanted to leave this roof with my brothers alive. It didn't go unnoticed to me that we were losing and all close at dying. My heart had pumped hard in my chest with adrenaline, though tired, so tired that I could've close my eyes and drift off to the world of sleep if it wasn't for the need to save my brothers.

I cut with the trident through the air, but Saki managed to dodge it. Donny came up from Shredder's other side with the twin bladed sword in his hands. Both of us gave each other an understanding nod and we both cut at a different height, one at Shredders abdomen and the other at his head thinking that he wouldn't be able to dodge both hits. But they shouldn't have underestimate the Foot clan boss. Shredder crouched down just in time to dodge both weapons and quickly grabbed a hold of the trident and slammed the end into my stomach. Letting go of the weapon, I had rolled to the side just in time as Don crashed down with the blade.

From behind us, I could hear Leo gasp for air.

Both of us had turned to take a look at our older brother who was still on his knees and watched 'im take a firm grip on the handle of the sword still in him.

"No, Leo! Leave it in!" Don shouted to 'im in desperation.

I could only helplessly watch as my brother made the decision which had been the sure reason to why we wouldn't been able to save him even if we had managed to get out in time.

Though ignoring 'im, Leo plunged the katana out from his abdomen with a raspy scream. To not fall over, he used the bloody sword to keep 'im upright. Breathing unevenly and extremely heavy, we could both see that our brother was slipping away. Like he wasn't even seeing us, he called out to Shredder, referring back to his previous statement; "Well, neither will you."

As I looked into my brother's eyes, I finally understood why Leo hadn't let me go after Saki that night. Leo had planed it from the start that he would not leave this battle alive. Rage came over me as I finally got an answer. How the hell could Leo do that to us! "That fucking bastared knew he was goin' to die!" I roared.

Though as by some miracle my body had heard me, it gripped the handle to the trident much harder and charged at Shredder before Leo even managed to push his up on his feet. I'd cut Shredder to his abdomen, but then he made a volt so that he landed behind me. Unfortunately for Saki, I had counted on it and stroke the trident backward into Shredder's back. Shredder cut the air with Leo's katana as he turned around and I had to jump back not to get cut.

"I will be delivering the final blow for you too," Saki spoke and tried to slice me again with his spiked gauntlet.

"Don't strain yahself," Raph said and managed to block it. "Ya might pull one of the bolts keepin' tha armor in place."

Suddenly from nowhere Don came up from behind Shredder and plunged the twin bladed sword into his back. He screamed in agony and turned to my brother. Still holding the weapon pierced in his side, Don was to slow to react when Shredder grabbed 'im by the throat and lifted 'im up in the air, trying to squeezing the life out of 'im.

"This is the end of you, freak!" The Shredder roared into his face.

I quickly jumped towards the Shredder and kicked 'im so that he would drop Donny. "Yah leave my brothers the hell ALONE!" Succeeding, Shredder dropped Donny and stumbled backwards.

From somewhere behind me, I heard how Don coughed and desperately tried to get air into his lungs.

Facing Shredder still, I had realized that Saki had begun to lose grip of 'imself. His body hadn't respond as quickly as his head had wanted it to Standing up, I had gripped the trident in both of my hands. This was going to be the final strike, I had thought. I was going to kill the Shredder and save my brothers. I was going to be the hero for once. Charging at our archenemy, I had aimed the trident to his heart. Though Shredder had seen me coming and turned his body to me, but stayed put. Just before I reached 'im, he managed to plunged the trident down into the roof and in that movement, he let it fuel his jump. He pulled out his arm and hit me in my stomach, making the air in my lungs leave my body. Then he delivered a painful kick to my stomach, I was sent flying and crashed down on my back beside Leo.

"Raph... you okay?" he asked with shallow breaths. He had sounded so tired that I had to look up to see if it was really 'im.

"Yeah... just peachy." I put a hand beside the other one and pushed myself up right into a sitting position.

I got shocked when I was able to lay my eyes on my older brother. A puddle of dark blood had formed underneath 'im and it was still dripping fluently from his wounds. He was coughing violently at times and blood came dripping out as he was breathing. Even though he was standing with one knee on the roof, he was leaning heavily on his katana for support. I had been just as shocked then but seeing it twice didn't change it.

"I promise... you're gonna... make it through,... Raph," he reassured me between his shallow breaths, then turned to look at Shredder. Though my never left his, not now and not back then. "You'll... take care... of them.. for me,... won't ya?" He turned to look at me once again, a glimmer of lightness was in his eyes.

"Wh-what...?" I had mumbled, not really understood what he had asked of me.

"I know ya will." There was a smile on his face, like he was at peace.

I hadn't been sure what he had told me, between his coughing and forced breathing, it had made it very hard for me to get it all. It wasn't until much later that I had managed to puzzle the pieces to together. Though my instincts had told me to nod and that was what I had done.

"No please Leo!" I pleaded as I watched Leo push 'imself off of his knee. "Please don't make me watch it again!"

Shredder had begun to walk towards us and Leo forcing 'imself into a run, letting his katana scratch against the roof boards before he stroke his katana into its twin that the Shredder had in his possession. The both of them fought with the goal of taking the other one down, though Leo had no intension of getting out alive.

Suddenly, my body had remembered Mikey and Donny and turned my head in search for them. Mikey was lying a few feet away and watched the fight with an intense stare. Turning a bit to my left, I saw Don trying to stand up as he too, was watching the fight with great interest and horror.

"Move, damnit!" I demanded my body.

Returning my gaze to the fight that had moved dangerously close to the edge of the building, I saw that Leo managed to cut his katana in Saki's leg. Saki's body reacted by forcing 'im to go backwards.

"Do something!" I screamed, but my body remained frozen in place.

Shredder hit 'im with the handle of Leo's second katana against his head. Dropping the sword which slipped a few feet in front of me, Leo fell down on his all four and Shredder placed a foot on top of his shell to keep 'im in place, then took the katana with both his hands so he could cut off the head.

"MOVE!" I roared.

"NO!" Finally pushing itself up, my body grabbed my brother's sword from where it had slipped and I plunged it through Shredder's shoulder.

Stumbling backwards again, he removed his foot from Leo's shell. Once I was about to strike at his chest again, he ducked. Saki grabbed a hold of Leo's throat and lifted 'im up, placing my brother in front of 'im like a shield when I was finally going kill our archenemy once and for all.

"NOOOOO!"

The sword slid into its' master like he was made of butter.

I wanted to turn it off or get out or what the hell it was that would take me away from this memory. I didn't want to see, I didn't want to remember, I couldn't! This was the very reason to why I had repressed it. I couldn't deal with the fact that I was responsible for killing my brother! Shredder had made me kill my own brother! Why? Why should I remember it? It was hurting more than helping. Was this my punishment? Hurting, grieving, feeling guilty until I repressed the memory again and then be brought in it to relive it all over again?

Once I had realized what I had just done, my hands began to tremble and let go of the handle as my eyes traveled slowly from the blade up to my brother's hazel brown eyes. They were in shock and I knew he was in excruciating pain. The Shredder was laughing behind us and I had looked at 'im for just a split second before my eyes had wanted to look back at my brother. Clenching his jaw and then swollowed, Leo grabbed the handle with his right hand and pulled it out. In a split of a second he flipped it in his hands and plunged it behind 'im, right into Shredder's side. An alien gasp was heard from behind and Shredder began to sway over the edge. He lost his footing and went over it, taking Leo down with 'im.

"LEO!" the three of us roared in terror. As quickly as we possible could, we had all run to the edge of the roof, just to find that our biggest and greatest nightmare had come true.

"LEO!"

" LEEEEEOOOOOO!"

As quickly as we possibly could, we got over to the fire escape on the left side from the building. As we had leaping down from it, we had all hoped, prayed and wished it had all a dream. That when we got to our brother he was still alive and we would be able to get 'im back to the lair and laugh about all this in the few weeks that would come.

We had finally reached the dark alley and we had all began to call for Leo again and again in delusional hoped we would hear 'im respond. Once we had turned the corner, our eyes desperately searched for 'im.

Finally my eyes found 'im and lying not far from, was the Shredder. Ignoring 'im, I ran deeper into the alley and I fell to my knees just next to his unmoving form. "LEO!" I yelled at him as I had placed my hands on his shoulders and had begun to shake 'im. "Come on, Leo. Say something bro!"

Don and Mikey fell down next to us, just staring at our brother. "Leo, come on, ya can't leave us!" Mikey pleaded with tears which had begun streaming down his face.

"Leo, wake up!" Don demanded and pushed my hands away and grabbed a hold of Leo's shoulder before he began to shake 'im even more violently than I had. Lifelessly his body followed his movements, but there had never any sign that he had heard us. "LEO!" He screamed in his face. Finally realizing that he wouldn't get any response, he laid our brother down on the ground and felt for a pulse he probably already knew he would not find. Holding it there for a few seconds, he'd let go and slowly turned up to look at me and Mikey which had been waiting for 'im to tell us that it was one. Instead he turned to look at Shredder with more hatred than I had ever seen in his eyes and asked in a breaking voice; "Is he dead?"

In our shocked state, both me and Mikey turned to look at 'im as well. Staring at the man for a while, Mikey stood up and walked over to the body. He looked down at the man in search for any movement. He removed the chest plate and with a crushing foot to the stomach where the alien form of the Shredder were, he turned and retook to the spot he had just left. Once knelt down again, he stated simply, "Yeah."

"Good." Donny and I had spoken in cold union.

Suddenly something came falling down behind us. Slowly our tired bodies let our heads move to see what it had been. Karai stood there for at least a minute and just starred at her father in silence. Slowly she turned to the three of us like she hadn't even noticed that we had been there 'til then and then her gaze fell to our brother lying between us. A few seconds her eyes lingered there and then abruptly she turned to her father and took 'im over her back and then just vanished.

Ignoring her, we turned back to our brother like we hadn't even seen her. At that moment our worlds, our lives had begun to fell apart. It was like I had felt it go piece by piece which would never be repaired again. I had known that nothing would ever be the same again and it had terrified me.

Never again would we be able to hear our brother's laugh. Never again would we be able to feel his presence. Never again would we be able to see his warm hazel brown eyes. Never again would we be able to say that we love 'im. Never again.
