Alvin woke up, feeling refreshed and stress free. He should take naps more often. He got out ot bed and checking his alarm clock, noticed it was pretty late. Everyone would probably be asleep by now, except for Toriel, she usually stayed up late reading. He decided to ask her how old that book was. He walked out into the hallway and he could see her reading in her chair. She noticed him approaching.

"What are you doing up this late child? You are going to be very tired in the morning.".

" I took a nap earlier so I'm okay. anyways I wanted to ask you how old this history book was.".

" Oh the history book? It was a few months old before you started reading it.".

so the humans who fell earlier were probably still alive.

"Why do you ask?".

"I want to see if the history book was up to date.".

"Ok. Since you're here would you like to read this book with me? It's one hundred uses for snails.".

He was going to regret this later.

"Sure, why not?".

There were many reason to not. One hundred reasons to be precise.

'Use no. 12: Snail slime makes for an excellent hair conditioner.

'Use no. 26: Snail slime is a terrible polisher, wait, that's not a use.

'Use no. 39: Snails read great bedtime stories.

'Use no. 47: Snail slime is a delicious pie filling.

'Use no. 54: Snails are very artistic, wait, that's a trait, not a use.

'Use no. 62: Snail slime is a great cream, what kind of cream? Any cream.

'Use no. 75: I like turtles

'Use no. 88: Snail slime can be used to make any surface slippery. Now you can ice skate in the summer, wait, the underground doesn't have seasons.

'Use no. 99: Snail are cool

'Use no. 100: Remember use no. 99

Well... that was... interesting.

"That's the end of the book.".

'Is it over?'.

"It's getting pretty early, the others will be waking soon.".

"Toriel, I want to ask you something.".

"Anything.".

"How do you leave the ruins.".

"E-excuse me? Why would you want to leave?".

Only temporarily, the history book told about other humans who had fallen into the underground. If I could find them, then the barrier could be broken and everyone wouod be free.".

"Oh, well that is a relief.".

She doesn't seem to realize that he now knows she lied to him about the humand before.

"So how do I leave.".

"Come with me.".

She stood up and began walking to the central room. She began descending the stairs. He'd never been down there before, neither had he ever been interested in going down there. After walking down an unnecessarily long hallway, they ended up in front of an unnecessarily large door.

"This door will start you on the trail to snowdin. So... when do you plan on leaving?".

"Not until I at least get a clue as to where to begin looking.".

"How do you plan on getting that clue?".

"Reading.".

He said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Toriel smiled.

"Well good luck child.".

For the past few weeks I took a break from this story so that I could begin working on my new one, which I will be publushing soon on fiction press under the same name.
