A Great Lost - Ninja Turtles
Chapter 15: The Form of the Long Lost Brother
"Please Leo," Mikey pleaded and stood on his knees in front of his brother with his hands clenched tightly together. "Pretty, pretty please, Leo."
"I said no, Mikey."
No matter how much he pleaded, Leo just wouldn't budge. On the couch both Raph and Don was watching and occasionally give a comment and snicker. They were rather satisfied that Mikey had gotten grounded and was not allowed to watch tv or play any of his video games. Which made the tv all theirs to watch and a channel of their choosing.
Mikey couldn't take another day of the sounds of boxing and wrestling or documentary and science, it was time he put on the heavy artillery if he ever wanted to play the new games he'd just bought. Knowing it would never fail, he put on the puppy dog eyes and made them as big as he possible could. At first Leo tried to ignore him and walk away, but Mikey quickly got right in front of him.
Leo kept his face stern and his arms locked in front of him. "You know you're grounded until Monday. It's just three more days."
"Pretty, pretty pleas, Leo!" His brother began to shift a bit uncomfortable and finally he sensed that Leo was about to budge. He took a step closer. His eyes had gotten glossy by the fake tears he had forced and put on the pouting lip as the big finish. "Please Leo."
He didn't know if he should be shocked, happy or scared. Though the sight in front of him brought back a memory of a time which was long lost, there was still hope it would end in his favor.
Repeating the line which had brought he memory, it failed to sound the same and his voice broke. "Please Leo..." He watched the Elite, who they now knew was their long lost brother, lifting the sword higher above his head.
If he looked past Leo, he would probably see both of his brothers trying to fight off the ninjas which restrained them. Constantly they kept on shouting to Karai, Leo and himself, but what it was they shouted did not register with him. Sure he didn't want his arm cut off and it scared him like to death how much it would hurt. But Mikey had yet to settle what he was supposed to feel seeing his oldest brother alive. A million thoughts rammed through his mind at once and it left him confused and his head began to ache. Of course he had imagined every scenario of how Leonardo came back to life, but never really expected it to happen. And now when it had, he wasn't so sure it was what he wanted. Not like this.
If he could just reason with Leo, then maybe, just maybe he wouldn't do it. But the Japanese word for clone kept forcing its' way back in his mind, warning him there was something off with Leo.
Physically he looked the same, at least what he could tell, his body was still hidden behind a Foot uniform and the typical cloak the elite guards wore. Instead of the blue mask, which Mikey was used to see covering his brother's eyes, was a black one covering his mouth. Mikey had a clear view of his brother's eyes and what he saw was something he couldn't remember ever see within those eyes. They were blank, emotionless and cold as they stared back into his own blue. Though he was sure he saw a hesitation flicker in Leo's brown eyes, but was gone as soon as it had appeared. That was when the katana was brought down hard into his arm, just slightly above his bicep. At least he had managed to close his eyes before the blade dug deep into his arm and hit the bone.
For a split second he thought that maybe the Elite had missed or had changed his mind, when the tremendous amount of pain registered within his brain. He lost all thoughts. All the sounds went lost to him. His body was numb to everything but the pain. The throbbing echoed with his rapid heartbeats and the pain was implausible. Somehow the scream from his throat overpowered the pain in his half chopped off arm. It felt like his throat was being ripped apart from the inside out. He partly expected blood to spray out as he exhaled his breath. Tears was forcing its way out from underneath his eyelids and streamed uncontrollably down his face, though he could not feel them.
Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind; help me Leo! His mind began to call out to his brother. Surely he would come and help him like he had done ever since he was a kid. Whenever he had hurt himself or had a bad dream, he could always count on Leo to be there to comfort him and chase the nightmares away. But Leo was dead, there was no one to comfort him or chase the demons away.
Then he remembered, Leo was the one causing his agony. Mikey opened his tear filled eyes only to see yet another swing to his arm. Suddenly there was another impact to his arm, followed with a sudden lift to his shoulder, a lightness which was so unnatural that walking on water seemed like child play. Again he screamed and screamed and between the screams he sobbed. If he had trouble catching his breath before, it was nothing like he felt now. Each and every breath felt like they were being suffocated by all the screaming.
Losing a limb was something he had dreaded all his life. He had never been able to watch movies where someone had lost its leg or hand or foot or anything. He had imagined the pain, followed with the constant wondering what would happen to the lost limb. Now he was going to experience it on his own and so far, it was nothing at all like he had imagined. It was even worse. Never again would he be able to play all his video games. Never again would he be able to hold both of his nun chucks. Never again would he be the same.
Never had he felt such amount of pain and it was quickly overwhelming him. Mikey didn't even feel himself fall to the ground, but he laid there, clutching what was left of his left arm with his right hand, not even bothering in trying to stop the bleeding. He didn't care if the Foot stood over him, watching his agony with great interest or if they had walked off somewhere. He just didn't care. He felt dizzy, sick and light headed. It was enough to make him retract the content in his stomach.
Through all this agony, he could still make out the familiar palm which placed itself on his right cheek. Startled, he shot his eyes open. Leo was crouched beside him, his eyes locked with his own. Mikey couldn't help but smile a little, hoping his silent prayers had been heard. Though the warm and caring eyes he had missed so badly, those he had remembered the clearest, was looking at him with no remorse, neither warm nor cold. Just empty and blank.
Mikey just wanted to ask him; Why? What happened to you?
But the pain was overwhelming him. His arm throbbed and aced and stung, sending flashes of great agony though his whole body. All he wanted was to lose consciousness. He just didn't want this to be real and he would rather go back to his demons in his nightmares and night terrors than to be awake in this lie.
Fortunately, he just had to give in to it to make it happen. The world around Leo narrowed in black. His brother's face began to blur. The last thing he saw, was a small flicker in the cold eyes of the Elite.
I watch my brother slump to the ground and went limp. In that instant my heart felt like it broke the moment he hit the roof.
A roar escaped my throat and went through my mouth and I only knew I had screamed for my brother when it echoed through the air. "MIKEY! LET ME GO! I will fuckin' kill ya all!"
I fought the Foot ninjas the best that I could but stopped when I saw the Elite with my dead older brother's face crouched next to 'im. I couldn't see what he was doing, but it sent chills through my whole body. He did not even care about the arm lying next to 'im. With just two simple cuts Mikey's arm had severed from his body. It had stunned me how easy he had made it look when it was cut off.
It ain't right. None of it were. My mind was screaming to me that it wasn't real. No way in hell our older brother, Leonardo, The Fearless Leader, Splinter Junior, the one that would die before letting anyone hurt us, would come back from the dead to chop his youngest baby brother's arm off. It ain't fucking right!
"No- it can't be... you just- you just-" I heard Don mumble in horror and disbelief a few feet to my left. "His arm!"
My body was shaking from the raw emotion I felt. Fury, hate, shock and horror. It couldn't decide on just one, so it went with them all. Jumping from one, then a split second later it would jump to another. Karai said something, but I was too emotional to hear what she had said. My eyes jumped from the arm to the body, like with the power of my mind, I could will it to reattach itself.
Finally my eyes stopped on my youngest brother's unconscious form behind the Elite. Slowly it traveled to the Elite or Leo or whoever he was. I couldn't comprehend that they were the one and the same. I had to have gone insane. This couldn't be reality, he was dead, he was freaking dead! I had seen it with my own two eyes. He had been thrown from a fucking building already half dead only to fall to his full death. On this fucking building none the less! For three whole years I had wished for 'im to come back to us. And when he was finally standing in front of us, I just wanted 'im dead!
The shock had faded away, only to give more room for the other three emotions. With a tone which matched what I was feeling, I screamed, "How the hell could ya do tha' ta Mikey?!"
At first there was no reaction from 'im.
"Ya're supposed ta be dead!"
I kept fighting the Foot soldiers which had me pinned down, but as my anger increased, they had a hard time doing it. When I was about to scream at 'im again, the form of my dead brother turned his head slightly to me. His face was emotionless, like it was made of stone. His eyes was all I had to see to know he had not cared of what he had just done. I felt that all eyes was on me, but I didn't care, all I wanted was his answer. Though the voice which spoke next was not the one I wanted to hear.
"You still believe I have no control of my soldiers? Of your brother?" Karai asked from the spot which she had never left. She kept her distance, knowing if she got too close, I would plunge my said deep in her throat. "Maybe I need to give you another demonstration?" She asked and pointed at Donatello. " I will have his eyes next!"
"Don't ya dare touch 'im!" I spat out like venom.
"Don not worry, Raphael. I will not."
I stopped with my struggle for a moment and turned to look at Don, which gave me a horrified look. There was also concern in his face and I knew it was for Mikey. Both of us knew our youngest brother wouldn't survive long with such a large wound. He was going to bleed out quickly. I had to break free and get 'im out of here.
Finally, Karai left her spot of security and walked up next to Leo, who rose back on his feet. Her face was pleased by the pain she had place upon us. She seemed rather proud of herself. "Once I have given your brother an order-" She brought her hand with the two knifed gauntlet, the exact same one the Shredder had once wielded, up in front of Leo, he visibly stiffed upon the sight of it. "-he will follow it through to the bitter end. "
"Why won't ya do it yarself, ya freakin' whore?" I tried to challenged her or at least get under her skin. "Or are ya too freakin' incapable of doin' yar own dirty work?"
"I rather see your demise by the hands of your brother like my father had planed from the very beginning." She turned to look at Leo. "Kurōn!" She snapped at 'im with a tone which startled even me. Though Leo didn't even flinch, he only kept his stare the gauntlet on her hand in front of 'im. "Take Donatello's right eye."
"What? No!" Don exclaimed in fear and his eyes turned to me with a pleading look.
Leo finally looked up from the gauntlet and up at Don. Mikey's blood was still dripping off the katana he shifted in his hands to get a better grip. The blood didn't bother 'im at all. Three years ago Leo had whipped the blade clean whenever he had drawn blood. Leo never liked needless killing nor violence. He just did what he had to do, sometimes it had required 'im to kill but it always bothered 'im and he always felt guilty afterwards. I could see no such thing in his eyes as he took his first step towards Donny.
"I swear Leo, if ya touch 'im I'll freakin' kill ya!"
"Leo, don't do this! It's me, Donatello. Your brother!" Don pleaded.
After have seen what he had done to Mikey, there was no doubt in my mind he would take Don's eye. Already I had made it hard for the soldiers which was all over me. Though they seemed to lose some focus as they watched the scene in front of them. It gave me the opportunity I needed to get free and I made a roundhouse kick to send them all flying at all directions.
With not even a bother to look what had happened to the soldiers, I quickly made my way over to Don and punched a few of the ninjas away from 'im and then piercing some with my sais. Don quickly got up on his feet and both of us faced Leo and the rest of the Foot, which had stopped and waited for us to finish our little fight. We were surrounded, but the common Foot ninjas kept their distance. Karai stood next to Mikey's form, but couldn't care less about 'im and retook the spot she had at the beginning. Leo was the only one standing between us and Mikey.
"Any ideas how to get out of here?" Don asked while he was catching his breath and kept a keen eye on Leo.
"Not at the moment, no." I said simply as I flipped the sais in my hands. "But ya need ta get over ta Mikey and check tha' he's still breathing.
"Yeah..."
Leo unsheathed his second sword, not even making a face at his wounded shoulder which would defiantly give 'im some sort of pull or restrain. Though it never showed as he gracefully brought it down alongside his body, the tip facing the roof. Flipping my own sais one last time, I knew I had to keep Leo away from Don at all cost. He had to get over to Mikey and stop the bleeding, cause I had no clue how to do it. If my mind was rational than I could probably do it, but it wasn't. Impulse was my thing and I was gonna go for it.
I slipped a glance over to Don, which met mine and he gave a curt nod. With the signal received, I broke into a forceful charge towards our oldest brother, with Don not far behind. At first it didn't seem like Leo could decide who to go for, but knowing I wasn't going to give 'im a chose, he took the bait and turned to me. He blocked my sais just in time before I would pierce his side.
"If ya're not gonna back down on yar own, then I guess I'll have ta force ya," I said.
I tried to lock 'im in place so that Don could get past 'im without a chance for Leo to attach 'im. Don didn't waste any time to flip his staff in his hands to put the end on the ground and make 'im jump out of Leo's reach and over to Mikey. He crouched beside 'im an began to check for a pulse before he would begin to work on stopping the bleeding from his arm.
Leo shifted his swords and managed to unlock our weapons before he kicked me in the stomach and sent me stumbling back a few feet before I got my footing. Then he was about to go after Donny, but I grabbed a few throwing stars and threw them at 'im before I charged.
"Oh no ya don't! Yar fight is with me!"
In an instant he turned to face them and brought his swords up. The stars bounced on the blades and fell down to the roof. I got in his way, standing between 'im and my other two brothers, slamming my sai at his face. He jumped back a few feet and landed with an unfamiliar ease. Something was not right with 'im, and I didn't just mean his mental state.
"What's wrong with ya, bro?" I found myself asking.
He tilted his head, and again there was no respond from 'im. He charged at me with the intension of passing me and to get Donny. I blocked 'im and pushed 'im away, then he came at me again and it was starting to turn into a fluid dance of dodging, hitting, blocking, jumping, kicking and cutting. It repeated itself over and over again until we both got thrown at a distance from each other. I got up on my knees and threw a quick glance to Leo to see if he had gotten up on his feet, which he had yet manages. He too stood on his knees.
"Stop this Leo. It's me! Raph! Can't ya tell?" All I got was his eyes on me.
I pushed myself up on one foot and my eyes slightly turned back to look at my other two siblings. Don was fighting the Foot which had at some point attacked 'im and was trying to prevent 'im to help Mikey. Though somehow he had managed to do something about the bleeding, cause I could see something around the stump of what remained of his arm, though Mikey's face had lost some of its color.
I stood upright, but my body was protesting and warned me it was beginning to lose its stamina. I was glad that it was raining, at least that cooled me down some and made me stay focused. Turning to Leo, I didn't expect 'im to be tired. If there was something I had learned from our previous encounter, than that was he didn't get tired, or at least didn't show it. I didn't know how he managed to do it, but I guessed it had something to do with 'im not feeling any pain. He had his katanas down alongside his body so that the tip of them slightly touched the concrete of the roof. He broke into a run towards me, his blades carved its way thought the roof and made a screeching sound which screamed in my head.
Panic began to crawl up as my body didn't really want to cooperate with me and he was getting closer. He pulled his swords up in front of 'im to ready 'imself to slice horizontal. Then adrenaline kicked in and my legs buckled as he sliced the air I had just stood in. As soon as I got to the ground, I pushed myself to the side as he slammed the concrete just a few milliseconds later.
I rose to my feet yet again, my sais ready to stab his left side as he had yet to rose from his position with his swords slammed to the roof. From this position I could see I somehow had managed to cut his shirt open and I could see the fresh bandage around his torso and I realized that he wasn't as quick as I had faced 'im before. It was the first time I was really looking at 'im. From where I could see his skin there were old scars mixed with new. Some had yet had the chance to heal and was still bloody and swollen.
He turned his head to me and his face was drowned in the dim light from all the light sources around us. Empty and cold was what stared back at me. But there was also something else in there. Something which made the hate I had felt for 'im slightly lessen and was replaced by pity.
Purple smoke quickly surrounded Leo and I knew what was coming. It was a trick we had yet to fully understand how the Elite could do such a thing. Even though I had no idea, I still knew what to expect. Turning slightly to be able to see Don from behind me and the spot where there was only smoke left, I kept a keen eye on where I expected 'im to turn up. More purple smoke was quickly forming itself which would have been behind me if I had not turned to my side and I expected to charge at me.
Without any hint or warning, a sword was thrown at me from the smoke where Leo had disappeared from. Taken a little by surprise, I jumped forward in a roll to dodge it. With just one roll, I stopped still crouched but with the right leg outstretched. I had barely managed to stopped the roll when Leo came out of the second smoke and had caught the sword which he had thrown and plunged the tip of both of them into my right leg. One up in and through the thigh and the other just above the knee.
I screamed from the impact and it sent shiver of pain down through the whole leg and then back up through the rest of the body. Though it was nothing compared to when he plunged them out, taking the leg with them before the gravity grabbed a hold of the leg once more and slammed it to the roof. My eyes blackened for what just felt like a few seconds before I realized I had closed them.
Though I regretted opening them.
Donatello fought every Foot ninja which made an attempted to get him away from his unconscious brother. He had managed to disarm most of them but they some managed to grab another ones weapon and was upon him once again. Though he was against killing, even if it was against an enemy which had been foolish enough to fight their Master's war, it was growing necessary if he wanted to get out of here and save Mikey. Though he was glad he had managed to secure the bleeding to at least not flowing freely with his belt tightly around the stump of the arm, it would still not be enough. Mikey was fading away quickly and they had to get out of there now.
Throwing a quick glance around him, he saw Leonardo pull back his katanas out of Raphs' leg. He didn't even give a second look before he turned away from him and towards Don. Yet another chill went through Don's body as he realized that he was the only one standing. Fighting off the ninjas the best he could, he couldn't help but to be distracted and throwing glances at Leo which was gaining distance by each look. Fortunately, he wasn't the only one which kept glancing at his brother and the ninjas got nervous, frustrated and careless. It earned him a few critical hits to some and they went down either crying out or with a broken skull.
Don only realized that Leo was close when most of the Foot soldiers began to back away from him. Though of course there was some which was persistent and was determined to take him down themselves. It would be something they would regret. Don watched as Leo, without any warning or hint, turned on his own and sliced their necks, surely severing some of their spines in the process, and they fell dead to the ground. During the massacre, Leo never took his eyes off of Don. His first thought was that he was watching a cold blooded murderer and his second was to confirm his first though that it was indeed what he had seen. Unconsciously he took a few step back and closer to Mikey. He knew it wasn't Mikey he was after, but still he felt the need to protect him from this monster. It both sickened and scared him to death to know what was about to come next.
"Leo, don't do this," he pleaded, hoping that somewhere deep inside those murderous eyes, was the brother he loved and had held dear for a little less than twenty years. Without even looking at the Foot clan leader, he pleaded as he kept backing away from his brother, "Karai, please don't make him do this!"
"Why should I not? I see it most fitting."
Leo brought up his swords to the offensive and Don pulled up his staff, ready to block any swing, slice and hit, which would come his way. He did not have to wait for long before Leo was upon him and tried to get past his defense.
"You don't really want to do this. It's not you Leo!" Don tried desperately to reason. "Break free from her control!"
Leo came at him with full speed like he hadn't just been in an intensive fight just moments ago. With just one blink of an eye and there was a ninety-nine percent chance he lose his head, and then there would be no need of taking his eye. Don remembered that Leo had always been the most durable of the four when it came to fighting, but like anyone, it would still make you lose some stamina, if only a little. As Leo was fighting, it was like he hadn't lost any or that he must have gained more strength during the three years they had believed he was dead.
But dead he had been, Don was certain about that and coming back to life was out of the question. There had to be another explanation on how Leo was standing in front of him. Or if it was truly him. He wasn't convinced that it was. He dodged the swinging katana over his head by rolling to the side, he quickly stood up on his knees and dashed his staff at his knee pits.
Getting a perfect hit, Leo fell backwards on his shell, landing hard and letting go of his swords. Don quickly got to his feet and kicked the katanas out of his reach. He got on top of Leo to pin him down and pressed his staff to Leo's throat and windpipe.
"I don't want to hurt you." He said as he took a few breaths.
Leo looked up at him, but there was no indication in his eyes that he had been defeated. Pressing down a little harder, Don hoped that he would realize that there was nothing he could do and just give up. Suddenly, Leo's body relaxed and Don though that it was finally over, when his legs pulled straight up and his feet grabbed a hold of his neck and threw him away.
The air was knocked out of him as he was thrown into the wall of the stairwell. He got dizzy from the impact his head got to the brick wall. By the time it took him to get rid of the dark spots which clouded his vision, Leo had crossed the distance and placed a hand to his throat. Once he could see clearly, something forced his left eye open and tried to pull it out.
Immediately Don screamed and trashed the best he could, but the tight grip to his throat made it hard to breath and his screams was barley a hiss as it too was being suffocated.
"Donny..!" He heard the familiar scream from Raph. Somehow it comforted him a little.
The pull at his left eye was a bizarre feeling of pain. It was like everything inside his head was being pulled along with the eye. The muscles which held the eye in place was being stretched out and the sensitive nerves sent rapid flashes of pain through his head. What felt like forever, came to its end once the muscles in his eye socked finally snapped. His head recoiled into the brick wall again, though he did not feel the pain from the impact. All his nerves was occupied by the lost of his left eye which made the rest of his body numb.
Finally he was able to scream out what he was feeling, and it was an indication that Leo had let go of his throat. His hands had found their way up to his eye and they pressed down to the bleeding wound. He screamed and screamed and screamed until his throat was so sore that he could not make another sound. Knowing that it wasn't over, he forced his right eye open to see what was going on.
Leo stood beside Karai, who was looking down at something in her hand with a satisfied look. Raph had somehow managed to get his way closer to Don, but had stumbled before getting there. He was looking at the Foot clan leader and the form of their brother so Don could not see his face.
"So what now? Ya're going to order 'im ta chop all our limbs off 'til it kills us?" Raph demanded with a harsh and raspy tone.
Karai turned up from her hand and threw a glance to each of them. "No. Your suffering have just begun." She threw the eye to her side and Don couldn't help but follow it as it bounced a few times until it rolled out of his sight. "I have demonstrated the hold I have over Leonardo and there will be no more doubt that he holds no concern over any of you." With a quick motion o her hand, the Foot ninjas grabbed their dead and wounded before they left the building. "I will give you an hour to escape."
"Why?" Raph demanded.
"Because I want to see how far he will follow my orders." She turned to Leo, pulling the gauntlet up to his line of sight before she gave him his next orders. "Kurōn. In an hour from now, you will hunt these three down and bring me back their severed heads!"
There was a curt nod from Leo before Karai followed her ninjas and left the building.
Don couldn't help but to look where Karai had disappeared and back to Leo in disbelief. An hour was no time at all to leave the building and get to safety. Hell that would be no time at all to patch their wounds up even if they managed to get home which wouldn't be safe at all cause Leo knew where the lair was.
"Don. Donny! DONATELLO!" He snapped out of his line of thoughts and turned to look at Raph who had now made his way over to him. "How ya feelin'? Can ya stand?"
"Wha- ye-yeah, I think so." Still holding a hand to his eye, he pushed himself up with the help of Raph.
He threw a glance to Leo and was him stand completely still. He had sheathed his swords on his back and stood as he would be deep in though.
"We hafta get outta here," Raph stated and limped his way towards Mikey. He never took his sight off of Leo and kept his guard up as he pulled out his shellcell and pushed the button for the Battle Shell to get to their location.
No doubt Raph thought about walking up to him and kill him right there and then just to end it, but he never did. Hell Don himself thought about it and the only thing that stopped him was the possibility of him being killed in the progress.
Don grabbed a hold of Mikey's arm and pulled it over his shoulders so he could take most of his weight to relive some of it from Raph's wounded leg. Raph grabbed Mikey's left side as best as he could before they headed to the fire escape.
Come on! Hurry! Come on! Hurry! Get outta there! Now! Out! Now!
Yay they still live! But for how long...? O.O Do you know? Oh my gosh! What is happening to the world? Mikey ya have to live! Don! Raph! Help him! Leo how could ya do it?! NOO! Tell me what is happening! Do ya know?! Do ya?
