June 2005
He was the new co-owner of Shining Time Station. It had taken a substantial portion of his savings, and a lot of effort, but he had done it. The main issue with reopening was the lack of business and recent decline of rail use. However, he had helped open up discussion for increased innovation in the railway industry. Rail travel wasn't dead, not even close, but in it's current form it was inefficient and in desperate need of modernizing.
By investing in Shining Time Station, he was also investing in the community of Shining Time, whose population had boomed with people wanting to start families in a safe, small town. Infrastructure was improved, new lines to big cities had planned construction, and schedules were increasing.
He had sold his old business, this one was enough to keep him fulfilled and occupied. He felt something, for the first time in a long time, about his work. It had reawakened the feeling of running the arcade. He could think of no better place to work than Shining Time Station. The reconstruction period had gone well, and they had renovated the parts that needed renovating, without changing the old fashioned feeling of the place.
His office was in Billy's old office, and he had the old manager's office, belonging to one Paul Miller, pulled down so that the former arcade area was open once more. However, he had no idea where the machines even were anymore. The storage room that once housed them looked like it had been emptied out in the not-so-recent past, and he couldn't find anyone who knew where they were. It was no matter though, he would keep it open until something could replace it.
The only thing that was currently missing was a Station manager or mistress. He couldn't bring himself to advertise the position yet, the wound was still too raw, and had been taking over the duties himself. That is until one day when a bright, young, yet familiar faced, graced the building's halls. He looked up to see a familiar pair of brown eyes looking at him, a small grin on her face.
"I heard you might need some help around here, I'm looking for a job." She sheepishly handed him a resume.
One cocked eyebrow looked over her resume with amusement.
Becky McDonald. Her skills and relevant schooling and experience were listed afterwards.
"When can you start?" He asked hopefully.
