The Shadow Queen

Chapter 15:

End

Kaede

"Kaede! Kaede!" I heard voices in the distance. Since this is in italics, I'm pretty sure this is a dream.

Dream or not, I am stuck in horrifying circumstances. I see Ootori, being pulled away from me, as my arms are stretched out to reach to him.

"Ootori!" I cry, but he only looks at me.

He doesn't respond.

His glasses are nowhere to be seen, and his notebook is open, right next to me.

Then I see the rest of the Host Club there, running away from those Lobelia girls. I see them in a hotel, on a bed in the lamplight...

I sat up with lightning speed, waking up from that terrible, terrible, nightmare. Dammit, the Host Club and their problems are in my dreams.

Yesterday, in the afternoon, Haruhi cleared up the misunderstanding about transferring to Lobelia.

I laughed a lot too. The guys all crossdressed except Mori and I, being the boys of the family. Sachiko had some fun too, and, with the help of the twins, got some romance out of Mori.

The beginning of it went something like this:

Tamaki: Oh, Haruhi, welcome.

Mitsukuni-senpai: Haru-chan! Haru-chan! I'm a princess! Do I look good?

Me: Yup, you sure put the hot in psychotic.

Haruhi: *speechless with amazement, I mean, uh, surprise* Wait, why is Sachiko a girl too?

Sachiko: The twins dressed me up.

Mori: Hn.

Me: You like it?

Haruhi: *burst in laughter*

The ending went something like this:

Benio: We're not giving up on you, maiden. We swear to you, someday, we will come and rescue you from this place, and bring down this Host Club!

Me: Only the guys? 'Cause, I'm also a girl.

The girls: *speechless*

Host Club: To tell the truth, we have doubts about your gender.

Me: You try to find out, you guys are dead.

And so... Zai jian, or whatever, the girls went away.

Then the weekend came and I'm currently enjoying the wonders of my house.

It was a nice Saturday; the sun shined through my glass windows and I lounged lazily on my couch. I'm bored.

I looked at my phone. No notifications. I swiped through my contacts. Maybe I should call Haruhi and Sachiko to hang out?

But I didn't stop at either of their names.

I stopped at Ootori.

"DAMMIT, KAEDE!" I banged my head on the couch repeatedly. "Am I crazy?" I hid my face on a pillow.

In the past month, not only had I hugged Ootori, he pinned me down on his bed at the beach. I focused on suffocating myself. I must be a god for not getting flustered at him. Every time he appears, my heart jumps out.

I was already an insomniac and workaholic; romance was not a good thing to add to my equation.

"I can't believe it," I said to myself, taking a breath from the pillow. "I actually cannot believe it."

I began a full on conversation with myself in the living room.

"You're so dumb, Kaede! You even neglected your precious Haruhi and Chiya while you were busy trying to mull over the fact that you're attracted to the notebook-wielding, money-loving, childhood-revealing MONSTER!" I shouted. "Ahaahahhhah," I put my hands to my face. "If Ootori were ever to know I've been losing sleep because of him, he'd actually laugh his guts out." I yelled into a pillow once again. "You're so dumb, Kaede."

Ring, ring, the doorbell sang.

Oh shoot, I hope whoever's out there didn't hear my screaming. I thought.

Ring, ring.

"COMING!" I jumped out of the couch.

And then I opened the door.

And then I did a round house kick to shut and lock it.

The Host Club... is at my house.
