You're My Type

"Presenting...Ootori Kyoya, fully recovered, and with new glasses!" Kaede exclaimed as Kyoya walked through the door to the music room. He had gotten the exact same type of glasses, but the Host Club clapped at his arrival.

"To celebrate your recovery, we've decided our cosplay concept to be…," Tamaki gestured grandly as the twins rolled out a covered rack, "HOSPITAL DAY!" He revealed doctor costumes, full with stethoscopes and glasses. "And for Haruhi…this!" He held up a separate nurse costume with a short skirt. Kaede bonked him on the head and took away the costume.

"Ooooh, I like it, I like it," Sachiko put a thumbs up. "Except for the nurse costume." She sat at her usual table, enjoying crackers and tea. She had gotten into the habit of visiting the Host Club before heading to kendo, as watching their activities greatly amused her.

"We can put it on you, Sachiko-chan~" the twins took the costume and went over to her.

"No, no, no, no," she waved her hands, shaking her head violently.

"Eh~but don't you wanna be part of the Host Club?" Hikaru asked.

"C'mon, we'll all be matching, then," Kaoru said mischievously. Before Sachiko could cave, Haruhi stepped in.

"Mou, don't bully Sachiko," she said, taking the costume away from them. "Nobody's gonna wear the sexy nurse costume."

"We're a PG anime, you two," Kaede scolded.

"Now that I think of it, you never told us what type 'Katana' is," Haruhi said, as her and Kyoya stood idle, observing the club. The girls were swooning over the doctor cosplay, as the stethoscopes made way for many possibilities for the hosts. "Katana" in particular was attracting quite a bit of attention. "You said once that her selling point was her sadism, but it doesn't look like she uses that anymore."

"Yeah, I don't get why she's so popular in the host club," Sachiko walked up to them, adding into the conversation. Her kendo practice had been cancelled, so she was just lounging around in the music room. "She didn't make that many friends in the U.S."

"She's been changing her type since arriving here, but recently she's settled on a quite effective one. You see, believe it or not, Kaede brings quite stimulating conversation to our guests," Kyota fixed his glasses, writing in his notebook. "Because she does so many things, she has an encyclopedic knowledge on an extreme amount of activities, and can bond with her guests through common interests. She has quite a talent for making girls feel comfortable and relaxed, as if they were on a date. Because of this, I'd have to call her the 'boyfriend' type."

"Common interests, huh?" Haruhi said. She paused, putting her hand to her chin. "Wait, so how would she struggle with making friends?"

"It's obvious; she's too blunt and arrogant," Kyoya shrugged.

"Not to mention violent," the twins piped in as they passed by.

The two girls sweatdropped.

"It's quite a change, though," Sachiko said. "She does so well here compared to back then."

"Well, before going to the U.S., she was home-schooled. She was bound to make mistakes in middle school," Kyoya said, smirking. "She's still blunt, violent, and arrogant, but she's learned how to please people. Not to mention, her direct honesty is actually quite refreshing."

The three looked over to where Kaede was.

"Katana-kun, you look so great in your doctor's coat!" the girls complimented.

"Ahaha, thanks," Kaede grinned, fixing her collar. She spotted an untouched cake on the table. "By the way, Erina-chan, are you going to eat that cake?" The girl flinched, the smile fading from her face.

"...Nevermind that, I've been gaining weight recently," she said, depressed. The other girls comforted her, as Kaede held out the slice of cake. The girl looked at it in horror.

"Actually, Erina-chan, I'm glad to hear that," she said, as the girls looked to her, confused and slightly ticked off. "Quite honestly, your body right now is even more flawless than before. At any rate, I'll be sad if you don't eat with us here; I think you look the most beautiful when you eat." The girls' eyes watered. "Your eyes always light up so adorably when you talk about your love for sweets."

"Oh, Katana-kun!" she gulped down the cake.

"I have a feeling that was unintentional," Haruhi said.

"She was probably gonna ask to eat that cake," Sachiko sweatdropped.

"Wait, but how can an arrogant person like her be able to compliment girls so well?" Hikaru popped up next to Haruhi.

"She doesn't seem like the type," Kaoru said, appearing next to Sachiko.

"Because of her bluntness, he says a compliment when she means it," Kyoya said, raising the eyebrows of the others in approval. "Her acting ability also helps."

They sweatdropped.

"At any rate, however cocky and blunt she is, Kaede's a good person," Haruhi shrugged. "She helps around and solves problems, maybe even more effectively than Kyoya-senpai." The said person twitched.

"Easy for you to say, Haruhi. She doesn't hit you everyday," the twins walked past again.

"You guys ask for it, though."

"Anyways, I feel like the Host Club is empty nowadays," Sachiko changed the topic, walking away from their Kaede observation post. "Nobody's really coming."

"What do you mean? Business is booming," Kyoya's glasses glinted. She sweatdropped.

"She's right," Haruhi seconded her opinion. "I feel like nobody's come for help from the Host Club since Nekozawa-senpai's predicament with his sister."

They looked to the door expectantly, as this was usually the moment when somebody interrupted to plead for help.

"Of course, nobody would actually burst inside at such a cliche ti-" the door burst open. A girl appeared at the entrance, covered in sweat and panting. She looked as if she had just run a marathon.

"I'm...looking..for a...girl...named Shirai...Kaede…," were her last words before she slumped over in exhaustion.

The girl woke up on a couch at the back of the music room. All the customers had left, and the hosts were just spending some idle time drinking tea and eating snacks.

"Guys, she's awake," Haruhi said, holding a tray of water and cookies. "Here, have some refreshments." The girl took the glass of water and drank from it, as the hosts took their spot on the couch adjacent to her.

"You were looking for me?" Kaede asked, having changed out of her Katana cosplay while the girl was sleeping.

"H-hai!" She stood up quickly. "Please, accept me as your underling, Ane-san!" she bowed a 90 degree bow.

"Ane-san?" Tamaki questioned in horror. "Don't tell me...Kaede's a yakuza wife?!"

"No matter what, that's not even a plausible explanation…," Kaede said.

"Ane-san, huh," Hikaru said, looking sideways to the violent girl.

"Sounds about right," Kaoru agreed.

"Okay, before we go any further, do you mind telling me your name?" Kaede said, refraining from hitting the twins.

"Ah-um-I'm Murai Shizuko," she bowed once again.

"Murai Shizuko...Murai…," Kaede searched the database inside her head. "Ah! Murai Cosmetics!" She looked to Kyoya, who nodded in confirmation.

"Murai Shizuko, 3rd year class 3-A, heir to one of the biggest cosmetics developer/retailers in Japan. She hails from a traditional family, which explains her formal manner of speaking," Kyoya informed them.

"Yet she uses terms like ane-san and underling…," Haruhi sweatdropped.

"3-A, huh," the twins looked to Honey and Mori. "Does Honey-senpai and Mori-senpai know her?"

"Hn!" Honey nodded. "Shizu-chan's our class chairman!" Mori nodded as well.

"Murai-san has been in our class since 1st grade," he said.

"So, what do you need from me, Shizuko-chan?" Kaede asked, leaning back on the couch. Shizuko leaned forward, her hands grabbing the table.

"I need you to torture me!" she said. The hosts fell off the couch.

"T-t-t-torture?!" Sachiko exclaimed, flustered.

"Shizuko-chan, you don't know what you're getting into?!" Tamaki said.

"Shizu-chan's also known for her interesting way of speaking," Honey said cheerfully. "She doesn't know how to choose words very well." The hosts sweatdropped.

"Oh sorry, I meant, I need you to make me fit!" Shizuko corrected herself.

No matter what you say, that wasn't an understandable mistake…, the club thought.

"Are you sure?" Kaede stood up from her seat. "Although, I have been wanting an exercise partner…"

"Okay, let's sit down first," Haruhi grabbed Kaede's arm, pulling her down. "Shizuko-chan, why do you need Kaede to help you exercise?"

"I have a rather weak constitution," she said, scratching the back of her head. "I'm more out of shape than most, to the point that I end up inconveniencing those around me," she sighed and sat down. "I might seem skinny, but that's just my metabolism. In truth, I'm as unhealthy as an obese elephant." The host club once again sweatdropped at her choice of words.

"You really don't need help on your...way of speaking?" Sachiko carefully asked. Shizuko's face turned dark.

"I have faced the facts on that predicament," she said gravely. It earned another sweatdrop.

"But I don't understand, you can't be that out of shape," Kaede tilted her head in confusion. "I mean, Haruhi's not fit, but she's fine as she is. Is it a health problem, perhaps?"

"No, I've checked," Shizuko frowned. "I've ignored my lack of strength and stamina for the past 17 years, and I've just realized how much of a bother it is to myself and other people."

"Just now, huh…"

"How come you ask Kaede to help you? You can manage some light running on your own, right?" Tamaki asked.

"Ane-san is so wonderfully strong and powerful," Shizuko said with sparkling eyes. "She's the only one who can reverse my constitution and help me reach a point where I don't collapse from exhaustion just by running for 5 minutes!"

"The bar is set amazingly low…," Haruhi sweatdropped.

"Alrighty, tighty, since you asked for it...," Kaede stood up again, putting her hands on her hips. "To the track!"

"Okay, Shizuko-chan, let's see what you've got," Kaede said, a whistle around her neck. They had moved to the track to check Shizuko's stamina and tolerance for running. "How long can you run now without getting exhausted?"

"0 seconds, I get tired just thinking of it!" Shizuko enthusiastically raised a thumbs up.

"Are you sure it's not a mental thing…," Sachiko muttered.

"Okay, Shizuko-chan, don't stop unless you think you're gonna die," Kaede instructed. "I'll blow the whistle when it's been 30 seconds."

"Hai, ane-san!"

She blew the whistle. Shizuko went out running, but then quickly slowed to a stop, panting and sweating.

The Host Club looked to Kaede. "How long was that?"

"3.24 seconds," Kaede said. "Shizuko-chan, I thought I told you not to stop…"

"Ehh? But I get so disgusting and gross!" she said, wiping off her sweat with her shirt. "See, look at this watery substance seeping out of my pores!"

"It's called sweat," Kaede said, "Although I don't know how you have so much after 3 seconds of running."

"She isn't even fast," Sachiko said, walking to the where Shizuko ended. "She's slower than Haruhi."

"Isn't it just because she doesn't like exercising?" the twins shrugged.

"That is quite true," Shizuko nodded. The others sweatdropped. "But I can't help it! Exercising is so gross, I don't understand how anyone could enjoy it!"

"So why do you want to exercise?" Tamaki asked.

"Because I wanna become strong, like ane-san!"

"That's impossible," Kaoru said, shaking his head. "One, you have no will to exercise. Two, reaching the level of Kaede's strength is unrealistic."

"Well, I want to be able to be useful!"

"Shizu-chan's the class chairman though, you help out sensei and you always have such high scores on tests," Honey said, tilting his head.

This impossible woman is smart? They sweatdropped.

"But….but….," she looked down in shame. "I can't carry papers or do any useful work…Seki-kun just does everything for me…"

"Who's Seki-kun?" Haruhi asked, tilting her head.

"Seki-chan is our other class chairman!" Honey said, happy to have some useful information.

"Ichimiya Seki, 3-A chairman and captain of the baseball club," Kyoya read off his notebook.

"So this is for a guy?" Kaede smirked, interested. Shizuko grinned.

"I love him so much! He carries everything for me and does errands...He's a rather strong gorilla so, for class chairman work, I'm as good as a bag of sticks compared to him," Shizuko said cheerfully. "I can't really lift anything heavier than my school bag, and even so, I sometimes have some trouble with it."

"Are you sure you don't have trouble with your word choice? I mean, the class chairmen usually organize events and announce things to the class," Kaede said, frowning. "I'd imagine that'd be your first problem." Shizuko waved her hands and laughed.

"It's fine, my class has gotten used to it by now," she waved it off. The others looked at Honey and Mori, who just shrugged.

"At any rate, I'll start you off with gaining weight," Kaede said, lifting up one of Shizuko's arms to inspect her health. "I'll write you up a diet; in the meantime, I'll start you off with some light weights." She took out a notepad and started writing things down. "Now, I'll make you a training regimen to follow, I just need you to promise me that you'll have the will to go through with it." She stared intensely to Shizuko, who hesitated.

"...but-"

"-no buts! Do you really wanna be physically useless forever?" Kaede said, talking closer to her face. "Do you really want Seki-kun and your class to think you're a worthless chairman?!"

"No!" Shizuko shook her head violently.

"Then no complaining."

After School

The Next Day...

"Kaede's out helping Shizuko-chan today, huh?" Haruhi said, looking over the club room. They weren't serving customers today, as Tamaki had wished to do some simple games like Old Maid and Othello. Everyone except Haruhi and Kyoya joined in on the fun.

"She's very thorough when she helps people," Kyoya said, fixing his glasses. They drank tea at a table a couple meters away from the others, as they were rowdy and loud. He was focused on work on his computer, engaging in idle chat with Haruhi. "Although she has can have rather limited patience."

"You seem to know a lot about Kaede," Haruhi said, sipping her tea. "Almost more than her."

"There's no helping it; she's my childhood friend and girlfriend, after all."

"Girlfriend, huh," Haruhi sweatdropped, as nothing had visibly changed between the two except the usage of first names. I didn't expect him to act all romantic though, she thought. That would be rather disgusting; for him, at least.

"Haruhi~come, join our games!" Tamaki called.

"No thanks, senpai, I'm feeling tired today," Haruhi sighed. She turned back to Kyoya. "Although you and Kaede are rather meant for each other, I don't really see how you guys came about falling in love." She tilted her head, resting her chin on her hand. "Are you just dating her for business purposes? After all, Kyoya-senpai doesn't do things that don't benefit him in the long run (or so you claim)." She was slightly worried about Kaede, as she didn't want her close friend to be with a guy who didn't love her back.

Kyoya cleared his throat, typing faster. "Yes, the business part plays a factor," he said, making Haruhi feel uneasy. "But I do...spend time with her and talk with her, after all…reminisce about the past, and do profit calculations…" he listed. "She's usually energetic and always bothers me, but she also knows when to calm down and just talk…" A small smile tugged on Kyoya's lips.

Eh...I guess the two are perfectly fine…, Haruhi thought, amused. It's quite refreshing to see him like this. Good going, Kaede.

He suddenly snapped out of it, and started typing again. He fixed his glasses, looking straight to Haruhi. "Don't mention this to anybody, especially Kaede." he smiled his business smile. "I am, after all, in charge of your debt."

Ah, he's back. "Hai, hai...I won't tell a soul." Haruhi let out a sigh. How come Kaede's emotions are so easy to read, while her boyfriend's a closed book?

Right then, the door opened, revealing a tall guy with a grown out buzz cut. He looked annoyed. "I'm looking for a Murai Shizuko," he said, his lips twitching in anger.

"Oh hi, Seki-chan!" Honey greeted cheerfully. The guy's eyes turned to the third years, his harsh look softening.

"Ah! Hello, Haninozuka-san, Morinozuka-san," he bowed politely.

"You're looking for Shizuko-chan?" the twins asked. Sachiko had taken refuge behind them at the sight of a boy. He wasn't particularly good looking, but she had been taken by surprise.

"Yeah," he said, scowling. "We had class chairman duty but she bailed on me," he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Something about exercising, although quite unbelievable for that idiot…"

Looks like he doesn't have the greatest opinion about her…, the club thought.

"She's out with Kaede doing some exercise stuff," Hikaru shrugged.

"Kaede?"

"She's her ane-san, you know, an underling or what not," Kaoru said nonchalantly. He continued with his Othello game.

"Ah, sounds like her."

The others sweatdropped.

"I'm sorry if she caused you guys any trouble," he said, bowing again.

"Seems like you care for her a lot, Seki-senpai," Haruhi raised her eyebrows.

"Do you perhaps...," Tamaki started, smirking.

Seki took in a deep breath.

"No matter how you look at it, she's the type to worry about!" he started on a rant. "Her word usage is a serious problem! She spits out crude language and verbal abuse like it's nothing! I can't count how many times I've been called a gorilla for having a regular amount of strength! Not to mention the fact that she hates any form of physical activity, to a point where she can't even lift a pile of notebooks for the teacher!"

He's right, everyone agreed.

"She's so frustrating, always needing to be cared for!"

"Ah." Kaede stood at the entrance of the room with a blank expression on her face, Shizuko standing right next to her.

"Aha...so that's what you thought of me, Seki-kun?" she stood behind him past the open door, with a crestfallen face. Tears welled up in her eyes as she ran away into the hall.

So now she runs, huh…, the club sweatdropped. Kaede pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.

"So what are you gonna do, Seki-senpai?" she asked. "Run after her?"

"I would, but everything I said is true…," Seki answered. They sweatdropped.

We can't argue...

"But you care for her, right, senpai?" Haruhi said.

"Seki-chan always stays by Shizu-chan's side, don't you?" Honey smiled. "You carry her books for her and signed up for class chairman for her, didn't you?"

"Don't tell me...you like to worry about her?" Kaede sneered to a flustered Seki. "A tsundere man like you just can't face it~"

"Oi, oi, it's not the time to provoke him, Kaede," Tamaki stage-whispered, but she just ignored him.

"You like the way she's earnestly trying to help, even though she's useless, huh? The way she gets flustered when she can't lift something up, or asks for your assistance?"

Seki lowered his face. "...I'll go after her." He ran out the door.

"Oh, I wanna watch!" Tamaki jumped up eagerly.

"Knowing Shizuko-chan, we won't have to walk that far, huh?" Hikaru said.

"Yeah, they're just down the hallway," Kaede pointed with her thumb.

"I'm sorry for saying those things, however true they may be," Seki apologized (kind of). "I don't dislike you or anything because of it, don't get me wrong…"

"What a useless tsundere," Kaede bitterly muttered.

"No matter how you see it, that was an amazing tsundere line," Kaoru said, sweatdropping.

"I'm sorry for being such a bother!" Shizuko said. "I know I'm as useless as a piece of trash thrown out on garbage day…"

"That's a new one," Sachiko mumbled.

"I volunteered to be class chairman, but in the end, I'm still just a girl with a rotten mouth and the strength of a newborn baby…"

"But seriously, why does she need to use analogies…"

"Yeah you are," an arrow came to stab Shizuko, "but there's no doubting that you try to help however you can," Seki put a hand on her shoulder. "You do all the class work and organization, and you volunteer to do everything that you can do [not requiring any physical activity]. I admire you for that."

Shizuko cried even more, turning her frown into a grin. "Mou, this is the most honest you've ever been with me, Seki-kun!" She glomped him.

"O-oi! Don't misunderstand, Murai!"

"Hai, hai!"

"I guess they match, huh," Sachiko said. "An overly honest, crude girl with a moody, frustrating tsundere."

She and Haruhi looked at Kaede and Kyoya. "It's like a gag manga version of the K-pair," Haruhi mumbled.

"Hm? Did you say something?" Kaede asked.

"Nothing."

And so, even though Shizuko became close as ever to her dear Seki-kun, Kaede continued with the training.

"Even though you're in a pretty good spot with that tsundere, your physical ability is still to a point where you legitimately can't survive out there in the real world," Kaede said bluntly. "Seki-senpai agreed to do all the afterschool chairman work while I help you."

"Mou, no more, ane-san…! I can try anything but the hellish movement of the body!" Shizuko whined.

"Itadakimasu!" the two departed from the music room once again.

"Is it really okay for her to skip out on hosting today?" Haruhi asked.

"She skips all the time anyways," Hikaru shrugged.

"I don't know how, but her regulars are still pretty loyal when she comes back," Kaoru said.

"She's the 'boyfriend' type, remember?" Sachiko piped in, as she was preparing to go to kendo. "They can't cheat on their boyfriend."

"At any rate, it makes her more valuable," Kyoya said. "Like a favorite food you only eat on Christmas."

"Did you just compare your girlfriend to food?"
