I'm back!
Please don't hurt me!
Long story short- I went through some crazy years and even gave up writing for a while.
But I wasn't happy... so I'm back to finish what I started.
I am continuing with this series- have a few more ideas for the gang here until I finish it up. I'm also up for suggestions if you want to voice an "episode" or "short" idea you may want to see Merlin, Arthur, Gwen and their new friend Mila. Just keep in mind I write like it's an episode so keep the rating ideas family friendly! Lol
And now: on to the conclusion of "A mile in boots"!
Reminder "M/Arthur"- is Merlin in Arthur's body and "A/Merlin" is Arthur in Merlin's body.
"Gaius? How is Mila?" M/Arthur asked as he, Gwen and A/Merlin walked through the door.
"You could ask her yourself" Gaius pointed to the corner by the books where Mila stood. She still appeared to have a bruise on her head, but she smiled through it.
"I'm ok. I'm sure I'll have a decent headache, but that's the worst of it."
"Alright, next question. Are we any closer to finding a way to undo this?" A/Merlin inquired.
"We believe we have found a way... however, to undo this spell, we must do an enchantment ourselves," Gaius answered cautiously.
"Magic?" A/Merlin looked uncomfortable.
"It is the only way, sire. Or it will be permanent."
A/Merlin considered it for the moment and then nodded. "So what do we do?"
Gaius pointed over to Mila. "We have all of the ingredients for the potion, we go back to the spot of the initial change, cast the spell and then you two must drink it."
M/Arthur looked around "well that sounds easy enough. We were in Arthur's chambers when it happened."
"Then we will bring everything there." Gaius said. "Once we set up, Mila and I will cast the spell."
"Is it safe?" Gwen asked.
"It is perfectly safe for Arthur and Merlin," Gaius reassured her. "Although, I would imagine the potion is a little bitter.
"What about for you. And Mila?" A/Merlin asked.
"We'll be alright," Mila responded. "The important thing is getting the two of you back in the right body."
Gaius grabbed the book, and handed A/Merlin some supplies. "Here. Best you take this."
"Merlin can carry it," A/Merlin protested.
"The king would look mighty foolish carrying items while his servant is right there," Gwen reminded him.
"Right."
And with that they were off. M/Arthur fell into step with Mila.
"Are you feeling alright?" He studied her closely.
"I'm fine Merlin."
"And the spell? You're the one doing it with Gaius."
"You wouldn't be able to anyway. You are the subject of the spell," Mila informed him. "I'm doing it because Gaius isn't strong enough on his own. From what I understand, there may be some resistance that we need to get through."
"Resistance?"
"He didn't specify details. But he can't do it alone."
"Just be careful."
Mila gave him a look, "this coming from you?"
"Good point".
They entered the bed chambers and got into place.
Gaius handed a garland to Gwen "tie it to their wrists, binding them together. They must have something connecting them.
As Gwen did that, Gaius handed two small bottle to Arthur and Merlin. Mila opened the book to the right page and looked at Gaius.
"On the count of three, drink your potion and focus on who you are," Gaius instructed. "One, two, three!"
The boys shot down the potion (making a variety of faces) and Mila started chanting, with Gaius joining in.
The room started to spin to the boys, but a strong wind began to whip around the room as well. Gwen held tight to the bed post as Mila and Gaius gripped one another, finishing the final words.
A flash engulfed the room and the boys collapsed. Gaius quickly took a seat, while Mila and Gwen rushed to their sides.
"We should have thought this through better," Gwen said. "Can we get them to the bed at least?"
The girls, and Gaius, lifted and pulled and plopped the boys onto the bed, waiting.
Finally Merlin moaned and Arthur shifted. Gwen rushed to her husband's side.
"Arthur?"
He opened his eyes and looked at her. "Gwen." He sat up quickly and placed his hands on himself. "Am I me again?"
"It depends, which 'me' are you?" Gwen asked.
"I'm Arthur."
"Then it worked," Mila breathed a sigh of relief, as Merlin started to lift himself.
"It worked?" He repeated. He put his hand to his throat, recognizing his voice. He looked over at Arthur and they both smiled.
"It worked!"
*M*
Mila and Gaius had gone back to Gaius' chambers to put everything away. Gwen was helping Merlin and Arthur straighten up the room.
"Well this has been an interesting day indeed!" She said.
"It definitely has." Arthur agreed. "Although, Merlin, I must say, you did handle the banquet very well,"
"It was an experience. One that I'd rather not go through again." Merlin said. "It was exhausting."
"Your end isn't exactly a picnic either." Arthur admitted. "I'll try not purposely cause extra work for you... unless you deserve it."
"Well I appreciate that," Merlin said with a smile. "And I promise I won't ever question how hard it is to make a speech and remember faces."
Gwen smiled between the boys.
"It's good to have you two back to normal."
Thanks again for hanging in there folks! I promise to be back!
Like I said I have some other story ideas before I reach a conclusion- but I am open to your ideas as well for one-shots or full fics, based on your ideas!
But here is one of the stories up for our heroes!
While on a picnic trip, Arthur, Merlin, Gwen and Mila discover some ruins that are cursed- any who enter there will come face to face with their worst fears.
