Hello Everyone, I am sorry for the wait but I was in the process of graduating high school and now I am done. So I will be updating more frequently now. Thank you to everyone who has liked and followed the story for this long. I really appreciate it. If there is anything that can be improved upon in the story like format and things or anything let me know in the comments and as always, enjoy.

Kagome rustled the embers of the fire and placed a pot onto them carefully. The room was quiet in the early hours of the morning. The sun just rising over the horizon signaling the wildlife to come back to life and embrace the new day. The men had not made their way back yet but she didn't worry too much. She had no idea how her friends would fair in comparison to the new demon but in her heart she knew they could handle it; they could handle anything. It was puzzling to her though. Inuyasha had been acting so strangely since Dean and Sam arrived. She contributed that to the fact that he must be jealous and territorial. They are two fit, strong, demon hunting men and they threatened to take the jewels. Of course he was jealous and acting weird that was so characteristic of him. She smiled and sighed softy shaking her head. As she checked on the food she realized Sango's bandages probably needed to be changed. Quickly she got out her kit and knelt beside her friend but was shocked to see what she did.

Sango's bandages were gone and her wound and hands were covered in dirt. Her clothes were dirty, her face was smeared with dirt and little clear dry streaks ran down her face. "What the.." she whispered getting out everything in her kit and laying it out next to her, trying to not wake her injured friend and failing.

"Kagome what are you doing?" She asked horse. Kagome hushed her lips with a finger and handed her the dirty notepad. Sango made and O shape with her mouth and began to write when Kagome spoke.

"I went to change your bandages when I found you like this. What were you doing last night rolling in the garden?" She whispered angrily. When her friend didn't deny it Kagome stood and walked to the other side of the room .She came back with a rag and a bucket of water. Softly she washed away the dirt from her wound. "Why?"

I needed to feel it. She wrote not looking Kagome in the eye.

"In the mud?"

She paused and wrote, I like the feeling of the cold soil on my skin. Kagome finished cleaning it and started to disinfected and bandage again carefully, but the actions still evoked pain. She apologised and finished then moved on to her friends hands, washing a little more roughly then before. Then she moved to her face asked "Do you want to talk about what happened? We didn't get to talk very much before and now that they're out looking for the demon." She washed her cheeks and smiled a little. "I can try my best to understand." Sango smiled for the first time since the attack.

It's my fault. I shouldn't have brought that women back and I shouldn't have made Miroku choose. I should have just died like my family would have. Like my family did. There was not hint of smile when she was done. She looked at Kagome seriously and furiously. She had never felt more about something then right then. Kagome protested in a hushed tone.

"No, don't say that! What about avenging them, what about your brother. Or what about us. We would miss you and Miroku would totally blame himself because he is head over heels for you." Sango was taken aback and went to write but the other continued. "And even if you did die she would have still gotten the jewels. It worked out the best way to could have. And just wait," She stood and grabbed new clothes for the girl and handed them to her. " Inuyasha probably already has the jewels and is headed on his way back with the others. I know he is, I have a feeling." She smiled and started to help her dress. Sango thought about her words and didn't fully believe her but was thankful because she did feel better. They finished and Kagome helped her up. "Now Doctor Kagome insists that we go on a walk to clear our heads then come back and eat." She said matter of factly.

The long grass swayed to the wind carelessly, they strode through small village in the quiet morning. Most people were still sleeping and if they were awake they were sitting quietly outside their homes enjoying the silence as well. Kagome smiled and held onto her friends arm and they walked like that, arms linked together. This reminded her of movies set in old England where everything is prim and proper. The air was sweet with grass and morning dew or what she thought morning dew smelled like. When they grew tired of walking they made their way back to the hunt peacefully. Kagome opened the curtain and their the whole gang was. Inuyasha was sitting with his legs crossed and diagonal from the door, he had his nose in his hands. Miroku was standing and leaning against the walk angrily, the two brothers were sitting in casual positions but they were still with awkwardness. When they noticed her they erupted with words and yells. "Good morning to you guys too." She responded dully. Before doing anything with anyone them she sat Sango down and gave her food. Then turned to the rest of them. "One at a time please."

He let her get away." Miroku blurted with bottled fury. Inuyasha opened his large mouth to yell back but Kagome hushed him. She motioned for the monk to continue. "We could have killed her but he let her go. But we have retrieved the jewel shards back." Kagome nodded and reached into inuyasha's pocket and grabbed them back. She hushed him a second time with her finger and she stuffed them away. Miroku started again. "The only injury we sustained was Inuyasha's nose." She knelt in front of him and gently turned his face and touched his nose. She looked indifferent and this upset the demon.

"You could at least look a little sorry." He exclaimed while she held his chin in place.

"This is the least threatening injury I have seen you get and you are whining more than ever before."

"Are you calling me a wuse?"

"Well you're not being exactly strong at this moment." Inuyasha took full offense to this statement and they began to bicker while kagome repaired his nose. The brothers somehow how got themselves involved and that only left Miroku and Sango. He made his way over to her while she wasn't paying attention and sat down. He grabbed her hand and he looked into her eyes with sadness. She shook her head and went for her notepad but he refused it. They looked at each other and had a better conversation without speaking then they ever had before. He brushed a couple of fingers across her bandage. She turned her head away from his touch but he didn't react. He looked her over carefully and let out a small breath. This small glance and her wondering eyes lifted the world from his shoulders. She finally broke away from his grip and grabbed her pad. "We're going on a walk." And like that she was standing and walking out the door, he followed just as silently. The other stopped fighting for a split second and noticed the two absent.

"Where did they go?"

Sango adjusted the top of her kimono to try and hide her bandages. There were many more people out since she was out earlier and they talked. Some talked very quietly to one another but some the few some talked loudly. Wondered out loud about her injury. None of them did that with malintent but their words still lingered with her. They walked side by side quietly for a while. They hadn't spoken since the incident and neither knew how to find the right words.

"How are you feeling?" He asked a little shyly. She Pulled out her pad and responded with a simple "fine" which was only half of a lie. She felt much better than that morning but she was nowhere near okay yet. He nodded and a dark silence fell on them.

They stopped at a bridge just above a quiet river. They sat and he took her hands. "I'm sorry." This took her off guard for a second but she shook her head. He squeezed her hands so she couldn't grab her pad and he continued. "I'm sorry you got hurt and I am sorry I could do nothing but watch. It should have been me that day." She thought she could faintly see tears but couldn't be sure. She shook her hands furiously and took one her hands back and waited for him to look at her. When he didn't she grabbed her pad and wrote down her two cents. When she finished she grabbed his chin and made him look then handed it to him. He reluctantly read it out loud which made her embarrassed.

"Don't say that! You did everything you could but that doesn't matter now. I am alive and we have the shards again yes?" He stopped reading and nodded in affirmation. She sighed and looked back at the paper and he continued. "We can beat this,we will beat this." He gave the pad back.

"How can you be so sure that next time isn't going to be the last? This was almost the end, don't you understand." This time she could be sure of the tears. She picked up her pad and wrote very carefully and handed it back to him calmly.

"Of course I understand how could I not? But if I die it would be an honor. It would be an honor to die with you. I could never imagine myself anywhere but here, anywhere but here with you." He finished reading and both faces turned a warm pink.

"I didn't know you felt...well…" He paused and cleared his throat. Sango moved closer and kissed him on the cheek and mouthed thank you. His face flushed red but he didn't move away. He moved his face closer to hers and rested a hand on her jawline. Noses touching and lips a breath away when a large splash came from below them. They looked down in shock and saw a white man in a tan coat looking around the water.

"This was not where I imagined I would be." he said to no one in particular. He looked up at them. "Do you know how to get out of here?"
