FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE

Kal and Diana sat in the center of the large bed, in front of each other. They were fully naked both feeling waves from excitement. Kal held her hands, caressing the back of them with his thumbs slowly. Diana's lips curved into a smile. Kal found himself mesmerized every time he looked into her cerulean blue eyes. Each time he looked at her, something new was always brought to his attention. He would scold himself for not noticing it sooner.

Without warning, he pulled her into his lap. As she straddled him, he wrapped his arms around her waist. Their body-heat colliding making Diana press herself against him more. His skin was soft yet masculine. Their heart rates slowly began to rise. Their blood was pure and boiling hot with passion. They sat in a comfortable silence, gazing lovingly into each other's eyes. Deep eyes resonated through each other's soul.

Their faces were separated by mere centimeters; Kal closed the gap, pressing his lips to hers. Diana's arms snaked around his neck in response.

Eventually they pulled away, their foreheads resting against each other with the tips of their noses touching and they whispered sweet nothings. The lovers were assured they couldn't and didn't want nor wish to turn back now, not after everything they've gone through and the effort they made to reach here.

On the battlefield, they were instantly in sync as one. They didn't exactly care about what anyone said, or about what they thought about the closeness of the two. They were them and that was it. It was impossible to tell what was going on between them, which was all a part of the job, stay professional. Though, sometimes it felt like it was too much, going on numerous missions. The Justice League was considered as being celebrities. Having people wanting to know personal things go with that but still trying their best to ignore the questions and reports.

Kal and Diana were far from perfect, despite what everyone would think. They suffered from loneliness. Kal lost his birth and adoptive parents. Diana had a…godly dysfunctional family. Despite his easy going farm boy upbringing, Kal could be arrogant and brash sometimes. Diana had these walls built a bit difficult for anyone to break through. She was a warrior. An Amazon warrior and would not hesitate to make certain sacrifices. She could be maybe a bit too honest at times.

Their hearts continued vibing and they wanted to give their all away to each other. Yet, they were always reminded of what might get in the way. At moments, they couldn't see nor think straight. That had been the beginning of their relationship, being together gradually became more and more difficult. They started to question themselves.

Love isn't love if they didn't let it challenge them. There had to be long discussions about compromises that both of them could live with. More learning and growing. It's impossible to have a relationship without pain, that's just not how life works. Whether it was up or down they were standing right in the middle of the front lines. It was war because love has angels and demons. Angels protecting the love while demons tried to steal it. There are saints and sinners… losers and winners for love. That's just the way that it goes but they made it this far on for better or worse. Instead of loving despite flaws and bad habits and such, love was because of them. Lovers wouldn't be themselves without them.

Not only was the physical attraction and sensation but the emotional and mental attachment was amazing. Kal and Diana loved each other because they understood and accepted each other. Whatever troubles they had, they would fight it together, and that was what mattered most.

After some reflection their hearts melted and formed into a whole new one. Having moments alone together, they could forget about the world around them.

Grabbing him by the jaw, Diana kissed him, pushing deeper into each other. She let a moan escape her mouth and her breathing was slow and dragged out.

This feeling, this feeling: it was indescribable. Emotions, welled up deep inside began to release themselves.

Kal delicately caressed her cheek with one hand and the other still around her waist. He pulled her closer and held on to her tighter.

Kal's lips caressed her neck before looking up at her. His eyes held hers with such intensity that it took Diana's breath away. They spent hours and hours in a blissful connection. It's addictive, heart-wrenching, and beautiful.

This is all they ever wanted, all they ever needed. They could never feel alone again being with one another. The love they share is so powerful, so pure. The undying love would never go away. It had taken them so long to get where they are now and this is exactly where they belonged.

Kal and Diana lay embracing each other. Her left leg draped across his hip, bringing their lower bodies close together. Their hands linked, fitting together like perfect pieces of a puzzle.

As much as love has tried to be clarified, it couldn't be. When it's real between two beings, they had their own answer. It comes from within the heat and soul. It's a value that shouldn't be taken for granted or let anyone or anything get in the away of.
