Chapter 6

I woke up the next morning and had my breakfast and freshened up. I heard a knock on the door and found it to be Hanabi-sensei. Her long, smooth, dense hair went all the way down to her knees. A thick strand of hair fell over her face, down her nose. She had her kimono on and her big white eyes seemed to see through me, which they did when activated. I allowed her inside. She said, "Sorry to bother you, Masaru." I waved my hand as if swatting a mosquito away. I said, "No probs, sensei. It does get lonely in this house alone, sometimes. You are a welcome sight." She smiled and gave me a friendly nudge and said, "Smooth. I see why Sarada fell for you." I was taken aback. "What?" I said, "I wasn't smooth talking you." She just giggled. She sat down on my couch and lay down. Her feet on an arm rest. I sat on the chair opposite to her. I was suspicious. She looked and me and said, "You look like my therapist, don't you?" I imagined it from her perspective and couldn't help but laugh.

I went to my room and came back with a note pad and pen. I asked, "So, how are you feeling today?" Hanabi-sensei said, "I came to inquire about the new eyes of yours. It is ironical that in this world every person's power depends on their visual powers, ain't it?" I gave it a thought. She continued, "I heard you only have two months with us and then you are going off with Sasuke-san to train you." I nodded, grimly. Sensei turned towards me, the right side of her face buried in her own hair. "Tell me what you felt when you first activated it." I gulped and started, "When I pulled my head out of the earth, I saw nothing but blue lines in a defined form. There seemed to be something flowing through them. When I started seeing normally again, I saw that the three figures were you guys." Hanabi -sensei sat up straight, in a sudden manner, which startled me. She declared, "That sound like the powers of the Byakugan. But your eyes are pink and round rather than oval. It doesn't make sense."

I thought about what she just said. I had the craziest idea. I said, "Can't be like a mixture of both Byakugan and Sharingan? Like, Byakugan is white and Sharingan is red and together, they might give pink." Hanabi-sensei shook her head, making her hair go with it. She said, "If a person has both the Byakugan and Sharingan, he will have a Byakugan in one eye and a Sharingan in the other." I mused it over and muttered, "I did read that Kishimoto said so." Hanabi-sensei looked at me and asked,"Who Kishimoto?" I said, "Nobody to concern you with." I went over to Hanabi-sensei and asked her, "So, my eyes are pink right now?" She replied, "Not right now. They are the usual black, right now. But when you claim to see the blue-lines in a definite figures, which were chakra threads by the way, they had turned pink." I nodded with understanding. "Thank you for clearing that up. I didn't know what I would look like if I had pink eyes." Hanabi-sensei said, "I should get going. I have a meet up with Moegi. Since your eyes show the traits of Byakugan, come to me anytime to train." With that, she left.

I closed the door behind Hanabi-sensei. I checked my phone and found no messages. I opened up my chat with Sarada and texted- "Thinking about you. Wanna grab dinner together?" I pressed send. I laid down on the couch just as Hanabi-sensei had and caught the whiff of her scent on the cushions. Hers was a smell that I hasn't found on anyone else. I stared at the ceiling. I felt a buzz and checked my phone. It was a text from Sarada. It said- "Come on over for dinner. I am cooking today. Since you are coming over, what would you like to have?" I replied- "Your company would be a fine thing. Whatever you cook is fine." Sarada texted back- "You will have both." With that, I closed the phone and went out. I roamed the streets of South Konoha, where, again, I bumped into Moegi-sensei. "Hey, Masaru," she said, "don't talk to me right now or I might give away something that Hanabi told me... I should be going." She rushed away. Seeing her. I was reminded of Konohamaru-sensei. I went to his place. He was home, fortunately.

Konohamaru-sensei led me to his back yard and we started training for the rasengan again. I tried to break the balloon many times but failed to do so. Before long it was night. I told sensei that I had to go and he asked me to join him for dinner but I told him that I had plans, already. On my way out, I took a turn back to the back yard and grabbed a balloon and gave it a 100% effort on the water swirl. It popped vigorously in my hand, water splashing everywhere. My lower pants got soaked. Sensei congratulated on finishing the first step and was about to go in to grab a towel, but I rushed. I reached Sarada's home half an hour late. I rang the door bell and Sakura-san opened. She welcomed me in. Sarada was just setting up the plates and had started to serve. She looked up at me and ignored me. I went to her and tried to embrace her but she slipped away. I stepped back and walled into Sakura-san.

I pulled her aside and asked her why Sarada was ignoring me, to which she replied, "You are late and as you know she hates late comers. Moreover, you look a mess. She waited for a long time and just started plating up, she went against her punctuality to get this untidy you? You didn't even give her an update on your condition yesterday. She was worried." I grimaced and shook my head. I apologized to her and she said, "Apologize to Sarada." She went away.

I went back to the dining room and saw the plated filled with quiches and some pizza, which were having a layer of pasta between the gravy and cheese. There was Pepsi Black, my favourite drink and crackers to go with the cheese, which was dessert. I exclaimed, "You went all out, didn't you? This looks fantastic." I still got ignored. Sarada sat down and I followed suite. I turned to Sakura-san and said, "You know, I just finished the water balloon stage of the learning the rasengan? I was about to leave with failure on my back but I just had an impulse and burst the balloon with my chakra. The water did make a big splash, didn't it?" Sakura-san hummed. I glanced at Sarada but she hadn't looked up from her food. "Hanabi-sensei is going to teach me some stuff about my eyes and later Sasuke-san is going to do the same with me after two months. We might be going on a trip together for some time." That made Sarada do more than just look up. She blurted out, "Papa's gonna be training you? That will unravel the mystery of your eyes pretty quickly." She just realised what she had done. I apologized to her for being late and she accepted. She said, "Itadakimasu!"

The food was awesome. The pasta were smoked and went really well with the pizza. I complimented the food a lot. Sarada just giggled with pride for each. After the dessert, I asked her, "How about we go to the Hyuga compound tomorrow? Not much fancy wear this time though cause this is gonna be part of my training." Sarada gladly accepted. Sakura-san got up saying, "You two love birds have your privacy. I am gonna go to the room. It's getting late and I can't do late nights anymore. I am too old for this shit." She went to her room at the other side of the house. We were left alone.

I turned to Sarada and said, "The food was made and set beautifully. And it was all done by you?" She nodded. I said, "Wow! I am so lucky to have you. Are these new lights?" I turned to point at the lights above us. "Yes," she said, "they are brighter than the previous ones and have a stylish look on them." She had responded exactly as I had wanted. I said, "Nothing outshines your eyes or look as stylish as you do." I took her hand and kissed its back. "That, my lady, is for you being alive and you spoiling me like I am some brat. I am so grateful for that." Sarada blushed and giggled like a baby. She leaned towards me and met her lips with mine, giving me a short, but passionate kiss. "And that, my lord, is for your awesomeness and you being there for me and with me." I smiled at her. She smiled back. For some time, we stared into each others' eyes. Then, the clock struck 11 and I got up. "I am sorry for being late today, but I got to go if I wanna make it with you to the Hyuga compound tomorrow." Sarada stood up, too and said, "Yeah, you should. I will try to never ignore you again, nor even act like it. I say try because it is so good to see you try to make up to me." She giggled again.

She followed me outside, a shawl wrapped around her neck. I turned to face her and she looked at me. Our eyes locked. I took off her glasses and said, "You look more beautiful like this. I hope to see you without them, when you don't need them." I gave her a goodnight kiss and messed up her hair. She complained but smiled. I took a step back and admired her. "That's how I want to see you everyday." I laughed and quickly too a picture of her like that and returned he glasses to her. Then, I went off.

I walked back to my apartment. I opened the door. When I was about to close it, I heard a voice calling, "Masaru! Ma... Sa... Ru! Hic! Hold up!" I followed the voice to see Hanabi-sensei as I had seen her in the morning. She came towards me and pushed me inside my house and followed me in. She locked the door. "Can I stay hic here today?" Her voice sounded full of alcohol. Even her breath stank of it. I nodded. I led her to my bedroom and offered her the mattress that K slept on and gave her a pillow and blanket. I took mine to the couch outside. Then, I went to the kitchen and made a strong coffee. I filled a cup and went to Hanabi-sensei. I offered it to her to help ease her alcohol-ridden system. She swatted it away. I had to make her drink it to sober her up a bit and tell me more about the situation and help me help her better. So, I asked her, "Who is a good baby?" I didn't know if it would work or not.

Surprisingly enough, she said, "I am." I said, "Then listen to me. Say aaaaaa." She did it, opening her mouth wide. The coffee was cool enough so I made her gulp half of it. She coughed at the bitter taste. She blinked her eyes a little and said, "Masaru?" before she fainted. I looked upon her. Her hair was undone. She looked exhausted and the kimono at her knees and elbows had blackened with dirt and had been ripped a bit at her sleeves and navel. I went out and closed the door. I slept on the couch. My legs remained up but I managed. I checked Sarada's picture and smiled. She looked so cute in it. Her hair a mess and her glasses gone. This made it look as if she woken up from a deep sleep and I loved her when she was sleeping. I found two messages from Boruto. They were two nudes of Sumire. I deleted them both. I sighed and went to sleep.

It had been a long, long day.
