Four months later,

Steve and I walked back to our apartment after another check up with the doctor, we had finally announced the baby's gender to the team. We opened the door and saw everyone waiting inside, they all jumped up and cheered.

"Surprise!" My dad said

"What are you guys doing here?" My dad asked

"Surprise baby shower." My mom said "You have a lot of gifts to open."

"You guys didn't have to go through this trouble." I said

"We wanted to." Darcy walked up to me and gave me a hug, then leaned down to rest her head on my belly. "Hey little guy."

"Let's open some presents." My dad said "Mine first."

Steve and I sat on the couch with everyone around us and a mountain of gifts. My dad gave us his gift and we opened it. I pulled out a small silver box.

"What is it?" Steve asked

"Push the little button on the side."

I pushed it and a 3D holographic model of the galaxy filled the room, the stars shined against the walls and the planets slowly moved around us.

"Dad this is amazing."

"Come on man we had a thirty dollar limit." Rhodes said and everyone laughed.

"Here." Wanda handed Steve a small white box with a blue bow, when he opened it he pulled out a soft scarlet red blanket with 'Rogers' sewn into it with white thread.

"Wanda this is beautiful." I stood up and gave her a quick hug.

One by one the mountain of gifts started to get smaller and smaller, Jane gave us a music box that played lullaby music, Sam gave us some baby Converse shoes, my mom a personalized rattle with the red, white, and blue colors. Clint gave us a toy bow and arrow with the promise of future archery lessons and Natasha gave us some old spy tech the baby could play with when he's older. Rhodes and Darcy both gave us baby clothes and when we were down a clap of thunder roared outside.

"Kida." Thor appeared on out balcony, leaving the mark of the rainbow bridge on it.

"You better fix my balcony before you leave."

"I've come with some gifts from Asgard." He walked towards us and handed me a heavy box.

"What the hell is in this thing?"

"A gift from me and Odin."

Steve helped me open the box and when I saw it I froze for a moment, I pulled out a long silver spear with intricate patterns on the shaft. While I held the spear Steve pulled out a large golden shield with the symbol of Odin on the back.

"The spear was made by the same dwarves who made Mjolnir, made from pure silver and the blades were cut from Mjonlir itself." Thor said "And Odin created the shield all by himself, it will protect it's owner by any weapon in the nine realms and holds magical powers."

"Wow." My dad said.

"Thor this is amazing thank you." I stood up and hugged him tightly, while he gently rubbed my back. "How did Odin take the news?"

"He's very happy for you Kida and hopes to see you and the child soon."

One month later,

"Again."

I paced back and forth behind Wanda, after she joined the team I took her under my wing. I taught her the same techniques I learned in Asgard for her to control her new gifts. I stopped and rubbed my belly as the baby kicked, Wanda brushed her hair away from her face and caught her breath.

"How many more times do I have to do this?" She asked

"Until you get it perfectly." I felt a contraction grow and I sat down.

"Kida are you alright?"

"I'm fine, keep practicing."

I looked at my phone to check in on Steve, he had just finished following a lead on Bucky in Italy and was on his way home. Clint and Natasha were downstairs training, my dad was at the tower, and Thor and Bruce were gone. I controlled my breathing as the contractions started to get worse.

"No no no you're not supposed to come until the 20th." I thought as I lowered my head and winced, the door opened and I saw Vision.

"Mrs. Rogers are you alright?" He asked "You're facial expressions show that you're in pain."

"It's the baby." I said and I created a dent in the table next to me. "I think it's coming."

"What?!" Wanda said

"I shall alert the others." Vision looked down and went through the floor.

"We have to take you to the doctor, can you walk?"

"Yes, but I have to call Steve."

"Here."

She wrapped my arm around her shoulders and helped me walk out to the hall, she grabbed my phone and called Steve.

"Steve it's Wanda." She said "Kida's in labor."

"What?!" I heard him shout through the speaker

"Where are you?!" I screamed as the contractions got worse.

"I'm on my way I'll be there in two hours."

"HURRY!"

"Kida!" I looked down the hall and saw Natasha and Clint running to us with a wheelchair, Wanda and Clint helped me sit down and I grabbed my phone to call the tower.

"Hey Kida." Pepper said

"The baby is coming."

"What?! Where are you?!"

"I'm at the new Avengers base, call dad and get over here."

"We'll be there soon don't worry sweetie, just keep breathing."

"I'll see you soon mom."

I hung up as Natasha pushed me down the halls, Clint and Wanda ran out in front of us to make a clear path. Once we reached the medical wing the doctors put me on a bed and checked on the baby.

"Looks like the baby is healthy, everything is going good Mrs. Rogers." He said "Now you're about two centimeters dialated so the baby won't be here for another hour or so."

"Where's Steve?" I asked

"He's flying over the Atlantic." Natasha answered. "Don't worry Kida he'll make it."

I heard footsteps run towards the door and it was slammed open, my dad ran in with a bouquet of flowers and balloons.

"Is the baby here yet?" He asked

"No, did you really pick those up along the way?"

"Well I had to get something." I heard heels clicking on the tiled floor and my mom joined in.

"Oh Kida how are you feeling?" She asked as she sat down in the chair next to me.

"It feels like hell, but I'll be fine." I said

"Mrs. Rogers would you like to have an epidural?" The doctor said

"Sure at least that will help a little."

The doctor stepped out for a moment and closed the door, I leaned my head back against my pillow as my mom wiped my hair out of my face. Even though I should remain calm I started to worry about Steve, what if he doesn't make it in time?

"It'll be ok Kida." My mom said

"How did you know I'm not calm?"

"Every mother can tell when there's something wrong." She gave me a soft smile and the doctor returned.

"Alright I need only immediate family to be in the room, the rest of you will have to wait outside." Wanda, Clint, and Natasha started to leave.

"They are my family." I said "They are staying."

"Alright I need two people to help me lift Mrs. Rogers up." Clint and Natasha walked up to me and put their hands on my back and shoulders. "On three gently pull her up so she's sitting up ok? One…two…three."

I felt an intense burning sensation on my back and I knew it was the epidural. I could feel the doctor place some tape and gauze around it and they put me back on my back.

"Alright just push this button whenever you need the medication, just try not to use too much." He said

"Aaaggghh!" I screamed "Doctor they're getting worse!"

"Let me see." The doctor went to the edge of the bed and checked. "My god your almost fully dialated."

"WHERE THE HELL IS STEVE?!" I screamed

"He's on his way." My dad ran up to me and held my hand. "Ok look at me Kida ok, this is just like when you got your flu shot."

"Except there's A FREAKIN BABY COMING OUT OF ME!" I screamed out as the contractions got closer.

As I screamed more I squeezed my dad's hand until his face turned red, I let go and grabbed onto the bed railing and crushed it. I pushed in as much epidural as I could have but it didn't help. I've been shot, beaten, stabbed, fallen from hundreds of feet in the air, but this was the worst pain I've experienced in a lifetime. I let out another scream and a clap of thunder responded to me, the door swung open and Thor marched in.

"Kida are you alright?"

"Alright I need everyone out right now." The doctor ordered.

"But-but"

"It'll be ok Kida." My dad said "We'll be right outside that door."

He kissed my forehead and walked out with everyone else, as the nurses walked around me Steve was still not here.

"Where's my husband?" I asked

"Don't worry he'll be here." One nurse said

"Ok Mrs. Rogers I need you to start pushing soon."

"Where's my husband?!" I screamed

"We can't wait for the baby's sake Mrs. Rogers." He said "Keep breathing ok."

"SSSSTTTTTEEEEEEEEVVVVEEEEE!" I screamed as loud as I could and the door was kicked opened.

"Kida!" He ran over to me, he was still wearing his uniform that was covered in dirt. "Sorry I'm late."

"You won't be sorry until I-AAAAGGGHH!" I closed my eyes tightly and Steve grabbed my hand

"Mrs. Roger push!"

I cursed and screamed as I pushed more and more, the doctors and nurses ran around me as Steve tried to comfort me. Tears mixed into the sweat on my face and the rain hammered down on the window.

"OH MY GOD IT HURTS!" I screamed

"You're doing great Kida." Steve said "It's almost over."

"One more push!" The doctor said.

With one last push I let out a loud scream until my throat was sore and rough, I fell back onto a pillow utterly exhausted. I never wanted to sleep more than in that moment, but my eyes stayed open when I heard his cries. I looked down and saw the doctor holding him, my son.

"Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Rogers it's a healthy baby boy." The doctor said

"Steve…that's our boy." The tears of pain turned to tears of joy.

"You did an amazing job sweetheart." He kissed my cheek. "Our baby boy is here."

I turned back and saw the nurse walk towards me with him wrapped in a blue blanket. She gently placed him in my arms and I saw his face. His hand was poking out of the blue blanket and he was wearing a small white knit beanie. He made some small baby noises and yawns and through his small eyelids I could see his blue eyes.

"He has your eyes Steve." I looked up and saw a tear fall from Steve's cheek. "You're crying."

"This is my son." He gently rubbing the top of his hat.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you two, but we need to put the name on his birth certificate."

"James." I said "His name is James Phillip Howard Rogers."
