Two weeks later,

"As you can see Ryan the streets are filled with people some have even traveled across oceans to be a part of the service. Fans have already tossed hundreds of flowers onto the streets that the Avengers will take to bury Kida Rogers in the new Avengers Memorial in Central Park." The anchorwoman said through the TV screen. "I haven't seen people gathering like this since the death of Princess Diana. You really see the impact Kida Rogers had on everyone. Schools, banks, and business have all closed down so everyone can attend the ceremony."

It was the first time it rained in June in the middle of Manhattan, the entire country migrated to the city to attend the funeral. The team took separate cars with the hearse between them, as it drove around the city the people tossed hundreds of flowers onto the hearse and the road. As Steve sat in his car alone he could hear the drums and bagpipes of the men marching ahead of them.

The cars drove right up to the gate of Central Park and the entire team walked out, including Pepper, Happy, Rhodes, and Tony decided to bring her friends Peter and Gwen. Thor, Clint, Tony, Steve, Natasha, and Peter all held onto the poles of the coffin to carry their friend down the path. NYPD and New York firefighters stood on both sides of the path to keep it clear. People still kept tossing flowers down on the ground but they kept moving on. At the end was the new Avengers Memorial the President decided to build in honor of Kida. It was a giant black stone circle with depictions of Kida with the Avengers on them and in the center was the mausoleum. The President and his family sat underneath an umbrella alongside other world leaders who wanted to show respect.

They entered the circled mausoleum with the walls covered in quotes and images of Kida carved into the stone. At the center stood a stone bench where her coffin would rest, Tony put a moat around the bench with electrical shocks hidden in them to prevent any vandalism. The sound of her coffin on the stone bench echoed out to the thousands of people outside. Everyone regrouped outside while the police raised their guns and cannons in the air.

With each shot Wanda shook a little Vision sensed her tension and grabbed her hand to give her some sort of comfort. She squeezed as the shots echoed out, Gwen cried as she stood beside Peter and Pepper hid all emotion underneath her black veil as she stood next to Tony. Ever since Kida's death an unstoppable drift has pushed them apart. The same has happened to Jane and Thor, Thor couldn't stop feeling the guilt of Kida's death and they have barely spoken to each other.

A priest went up to the podium placed at the entrance of the memorial and said some prayers and speech to the people. Then the President stood up to the podium to saw a quick speech and some words to remember Kida. Then everything stopped when it was Tony's turn, it was almost like the entire world was silent. He walked up to the podium with his umbrella and pulled out a piece of paper. He looked down at the words he had written a few days before then up to the massive crowd and cameras facing him.

"First…I would like to personally thank the President and the construction team who worked non stop to build this memorial. I also want to thank everyone here, including the people watching this through a screen. We all know my daughter was no ordinary girl, she was everything a father could ask for and so much more. I remember when I first brought her home, staying with her until she fell asleep and I started to think about her future. I worried, like all fathers do, that she would stumble and fall. But each time she fell she would get back up higher. She never ceased to surprise me with her strong will and strength. She was one of the most important members of the team, she helped us find each other. By seeing how many people have travelled here from around the world to come here and pay respect to my daughter, shows me she truly was a hero. It also shows she will never leave our hearts or our memories, the impact she had on us all will never fade away. Thank you."

A soft applause rippled out from the podium and out to the park. Little by little the crowd dispersed and moved to the other side of the park for a vigil and people took turns telling stories about Kida to the crowd. The team stayed but Peter left so he could stay with Gwen, the team would go back to the Avengers tower and go to Asgard for the real ceremony. The one in Central Park was for the people, to give them a part of Kida to remember. But her real body will be buried in Asgard and the team could have their own private memorial.

The team walked back to the car but Steve stayed inside the mausoleum, staring at the coffin lying in front of him. The top of the coffin had the Avengers symbol in gold, while he stared at it Natasha walked in and put a hand on his shoulder.

"It's almost like it's mocking me." He said

"Come on, it's almost over."

Once they regrouped Thor took them all to Asgard, when the gates opened they saw Kida peacefully resting in a glass coffin. Surrounded by flowers wearing a long white and gold gown and her sword resting on top of her body. Steve couldn't help but stare at her motionless face and felt a deeper cut grow in his heart.

Everyone in Asgard stood on the sides of the road in perfect silence as Thor lead everyone to the palace. There they met with the silent Warriors Three, they helped carry the coffin inside the palace and to the garden. There Odin stood in front of a six foot ditch where Kida will be buried, the guards carrying the coffin went on both sides of the ditch and held the coffin still for a few moments. Thor could see a single tear fall down his cheek.

"I, as an old man and a warrior, have dealt with death. I've buried more friends and family than any other mortal. I've learned to be accustomed to it, but I have never felt such sorrow from death since I lost my dear wife." Odin said "I have lost many things, my wife, my son, and now my daughter. She grew in grace and beauty just like her mother and had the heart of a warrior like her father. I know it is custom on Midgard to bury the dead, so Kida shall remain in the garden where she was raised."

Odin reached one hand out and placed it on the glass above Kida's face. When he pulled his hand away the guards lowered the coffin down and started to bury it. Everyone went inside for a feast and drink while Steve stayed outside, watching them bury her until she was completely gone. Thor walked out and joined him.

"Rogers why not step inside?"

"I don't really have an appetite right now."

"It is custom in Asgard to feast after a death, to remember those we lost."

"I'm not Asgardian Thor."

"I know." He turned his head and placed a hand on Steve's shoulder. "But Kida would not want you to starve yourself."

"I can't stop thinking about him, Rumlow, I will look all over the planet to find that son of a bitch."

"And I will help you, and he shall face Asgardian justice."

"He's human Thor, he'll face his crime on Earth." Steve said "Besides I have a more important favor to ask you."

"What is it?"

"I want you to take care of James while I look for Rumlow. I can't care for him while I'm in the field with the team and I worry Pepper won't be able to care for James so soon after the funeral." Steve said "Kida trusted you with our son, and we don't have any enemies in Asgard."

"I will bring James here, he will live in the palace and will be under constant protection by the guards."

"Thank you."

Thor patted his back and walked inside, Steve followed thirty minutes later and gulped down some of the wine. When they returned home Steve picked up James from Barton's farmhouse and spent one more night with him. Watching him fall asleep in his arms until the sun rose and Thor took him to Asgard. For the first time in years Steve was alone, again, in an empty house. He walked down the hall in his Captain America uniform, his head down. He couldn't look up to the photos of Kida hanging on the wall, but when he got to the living room he saw a strange shape standing in the corner.

"Bucky?"

"Hey"

"How did you find me?"

"Followed you from the tower, I came back when I heard the news." Bucky slowly walked over to him, Steve nodded his head and pulled his old friend into a hug. "I've come to help you."

"Let's find that son of a bitch."

I should've worshiped her sooner

If the heavens ever did speak

She is the last true mouthpiece

Every Sunday's getting more bleak

Fresh poison each week
