This will be the last chapter of Disney Academy, at least until I decide to watch the Disney Princess movies I haven't seen. So thank you for reading this and be sure to check out my other fanfics!

Chapter 32: The Greatest Gift and Honor

Following the conflict between the Hun and the Pandemonium Gangs in the Tong Shou neighborhood, activity between the groups ceased during the trial of John Smith and after the disappearance of Senator Ratcliffe. This suited Mulan just fine, since Shang had been absent from school this whole time. Though she wasn't happy with her parents, who had grounded her indefinitely after she had returned home wearing nothing but a blanket over her naked body. She had also learned that Mushu wasn't a Guardian spirit as he claimed, but a familiar to her great ancestor Fa who had originally told Mushu to awaken the Stone Dragon statue in front of the family shrine but he had screwed up and broke it accidentally. So because of this, Mushu was assigned to be Mulan's temporary Guardian until the statue could be repaired. On the day of her graduation from Disney Academy, Mulan's parents surprised her by allowing her to drive her black Mustang once more which now had a new license plate and had been kept in the garage since she got back.

"Now remember this, Mulan," Mulan's father said, holding the keys to the Mustang in his hand. "Use this car responsibly, and not recklessly."

"I promise," Mulan nodded, as her father handed her the keys. She was now wearing her graduation gown which was gold with white trimmings along the sleeves. Then as her parents and grandmother left to get in the family car, Mulan put on her graduation cap with Mushu hiding underneath in his tiny dragon form.

Once the graduation ceremony was over and nothing unusual happened, Mulan took pictures with her family before following them back home. But on the freeway, she heard a loud cry and looked to her right. What she saw made her immediately pull over and look back. Disappearing down the road behind her was a group of cars that were tan and gray in color with huge men leaning out the sides while a lone falcon glided over them. Quickly, she got out of the car and opened the trunk removing her graduation gown and cap to reveal a long black-and-blue dress with red trimming. Meanwhile, Mushu turned into a cloud of red smoke and changed into his human form.

"Um, home is that way," Mushu reminded Mulan as she closed the trunk and walked back to the driver's seat.

"I have to do something," Mulan replied, getting back into the car.

"Did you see those Huns? They were armed to the teeth like psychos!"

Groaning, Mulan looked up at Mushu and said, "Are we in this together or not?"

After a pause, Mushu nodded and got into the passenger's seat.

Arriving at the Imperial Hotel, which had dancing dragons and fireworks going off outside, Mulan saw Shang and the others heading towards the entrance and drove right in front of them.

"Shang! Guys!" Mulan shouted. "The Huns are alive, and they might be in or near the hotel!"

In response, Shang frowned. "You don't belong here. Go home!"

As Shang and the other guys stepped around the car, Mulan got out and walked alongside Shang.

"Please, you have to believe me," Mulan begged. "I saw them on the freeway earlier and they were driving in this direction."

"Why should I trust you?" Shang asked, without looking at Mulan.

Grabbing his arm, Mulan forced Shang to look at her. "You trusted Ping, right? We're both the same person, so why should trusting me be any different?"

Hesitating, Shang looked away and shrugged his hand out of Mulan's grip and continued walking while the others followed.

"Keep your eyes open, guys," Mulan said to Ling Chien-Po and Yao. "I know they're here."

"My children," the Emperor said, addressing the crowd inside the hotel from the second floor balcony at the top of a staircase from the foyer. He had a long white beard and wore a long yellow robe. Below him, Shang and the others were kneeling while one of the dancing dragons from outside stood behind them. "For several months, our town has been safe from the Huns thanks to these brave men who fought against them in the Tong Shou neighborhood. Tonight, we are here to honor their efforts as well as those who died in that tragic attack on the restaurant."

As the crowd cheered, Shang removed an object he had been carrying on his back since he arrived which was wrapped in red cloth. Inside of it lay a sword that was large and curved with a black hilt.

"My Emperor," Shang said. "I bring you the Sword of Shan Yu."

"And a fine sword, it is," the Emperor nodded. "Your father would be very proud."

But just as the Emperor was about to take the sword from Shang's hands, a falcon swooped down and snatched it from the cloth. It flew up to the third floor balcony where a tall man that Mulan recognized from the battle on the street in the Tong Shou neighborhood stood taking the sword from the falcon's talons. Meanwhile, the dancing dragon was torn apart as several men emerged from it knocking out Shang and the others before grabbing the Emperor and taking him into the elevator that was behind him. By the time Shang and his men got to the elevator, it was already closed no matter how hard they tried to open it. So they tried the door that would lead to the stairs but found it to be locked on both sides of the second floor balcony.

"At this rate, they'll never reach the Emperor on time," Mulan realized, looking at a nearby map of the hotel.

Something on it caught her eye, and she immediately ran up the stairs to where Shang and the others were.

Whistling at them, she said, "I've got an idea!"

###

Taking the service elevator up to the third floor, Ling Chien-Po and Yao were all wearing multi-colored Chinese dresses dark-haired wigs and a lot of makeup with paper fans in their hands. Mulan didn't wear makeup, but she still had the fan, while Shang was crouching behind all four of them. When the doors opened, they stepped out and made giggling sounds approaching the various Huns that were stationed around the third floor balcony except for Shang who hid behind a nearby plant. But when the Huns pulled out their guns, Mulan and the guys disarmed them using their hands and feet.

"Go, Shang!" Mulan commanded, pinning down her guy. "Find the Emperor!"

Leaving his hiding spot, Shang tried the hotel doors which were all locked. The only one that wasn't was the door leading up to the terrace, which he stepped through. Meanwhile, Chien-Po knocked out the Huns who were still awake before he and the other guys tied the Huns up using sashes from their dresses to the balcony railing. As for Mulan, she decided to check on Shang and went up to the terrace only to find him pinned down by the tall man while the Emperor was crouched nearby.

"Because of you, I lost many good men in that firework explosion and had to wait till now to strike!" The tall man shouted angrily.

"No, Shan Yu!" Mulan claimed, getting the tall man's attention. "I was responsible for that explosion, not him."

Putting her hair up in a bun, the tall man's eyes widened then he started moving towards her away from Shang and the Emperor. Instead of going back the way she came, Mulan leaped onto the tiled roof and began climbing it. She managed to make it to the top when Shan Yu appeared right behind her. While he reached for his sword, she unfolded her fan.

"It looks like you're out of ideas," Shan Yu grinned and thrust his sword at Mulan.

While the sword went right through the fan, Mulan dodged it and kicked the sword out of Shan Yu's hands allowing her to grab it midair.

"Not quite," Mulan stated, pointing the sword at Shan Yu. "Ready, Mushu?"

Behind Shan Yu, Mushu appeared in dragon form with a large firework strapped to his back. Using his fiery breath, he was able to light the firework and ran towards Shan Yu while undoing the strap around his body in turn. As it came undone the firework shot right into Shan Yu's chest causing him to go flying into the air. Immediately, Mulan grabbed Mushu and ran back down the roof sliding in the process as Shang caught her. An explosion soon followed, knocking them all back including the Emperor.

The next morning, Mulan arrived home with Mushu looking tired and dirty but otherwise perfectly fine. Her father was sitting near the cherry blossom tree in the backyard by the family shrine when Mulan approached him carrying some things.

"Mulan," her father started, looking genuinely surprised. "Where have you—

"I'm sorry," Mulan interrupted, lowering her head. "I saw the Huns drive past me on the freeway, and felt the urge to stop them. So I went to the Imperial Hotel and saw the Emperor get kidnapped by the Huns, then I helped the Pandemonium Gang members I told you about save him. As proof, I've brought the Sword of Shan Yu, the former leader of the Huns, and a crest from the Emperor to pardon you from having to serve them again in the near future. They're gifts…to honor the Fa family."

Placing Shan Yu's sword on the ground along with a metal that had the symbol of a dragon on it, Mulan got on her knees and kept her head lowered. Her father, meanwhile, got up from his bench and walked over to her leaning slightly down while using his cane for support.

"The greatest gift and honor…is having you for a daughter," he said, and held Mulan up as he hugged her.

As the two stood that way for a while, the sound of footsteps caught their attention. It was Shang, and he was holding something in his hand.

"Hi, Mulan, and Mr. Fa," Shang began, looking nervous. "Um, you forgot your license plate, the one I had you tear off…"

From his hand, Shang held up the old license plate. Taking it from him, Mulan smiled a little.

"Seems like you came a long way just to bring me this," Mulan remarked. "Would you like to stay over?"

"You want to stay for dinner?" Mulan's grandmother repeated, though Mulan shook her head.

"I'm not sure about dinner, but I wouldn't mind staying here for a little while longer," Shang acknowledged and followed Mulan back into the house along with her father.
