Wow. So many years y'all. I really want to apologize and thank everyone for the messages and reviews. This chapter is a little short, but I hope to update again soon. I love you all!
I'd also like to thank Amariyah1 for giving me a better Italian translation, google translate really doesn't understand grammar.
Also, I had a question about the Italian. It's because DiNozzo speaks Italian, and Sam has learned Italian in school for that connection to his older brother, and Sam knows bits and pieces of a lot of languages.
"I wanna go to college, Bobby."
"I know, Tony. I always knew you would."
"I don't want to go as a Winchester. I want a new life."
Bobby was surprised by this. "You want to leave your whole family behind?"
"I can't continue to be a hunter. I don't want to know what's out there. People are bad enough, I didn't need to know the supernatural was real. I want to start over, if that means leaving my family behind, then so be it. Our family hasn't been the same since mom died, and it never will be. I want your help in setting me up a new background. Dad's out for blood and once he gets it, I don't want my name to be tied to him."
"You're going to leave your brothers behind too? Dean looks up to you, and Sam is still a little kid. They need their older brother, Tony. You know they do."
"Bobby, they don't need me. I know those two will end up to be amazing hunters if they choose that route. I'm choosing a different one. You gotta help me Bobby, please."
Bobby sighed. "I'll see what I can do."
Sam was lucky. The bullet just missed his heart. His heart stopped on the way to Bethesda, but the paramedics quickly got it beating again. Tony insisted that Ziva stay with Sam and keep him updated about every little thing
The two fallen FBI agents quickly each got medical help as well and Tony wanted to question them immediately, but Fornell made him hold off. When Gibbs got back to the bullpen he was definitely in a bad mood.
"What the hell happened here, Tobias?"
"My agents are checking the tapes now. Apparently someone got into the interrogation room, knocked out my agent, and escorted Sam Winchester into a supply closet before shooting him point blank in the chest. He is being taken to Bethesda now. David is with him, along with a team of my best agents."
"How the hell did someone get into interrogation without being noticed?"
"We aren't sure, boss. It could be an FBI agent, or an NCIS agent…" He stopped talking as he received glares from both Fornell and Gibbs.
"DiNozzo, I need to talk to you." Gibbs headed towards the elevator. "Now, DiNozzo!"
Tony quickly got to his feet and followed his boss. Once the elevator doors were closed, Gibbs shut off the elevator. "What do you know about the Winchesters that we don't DiNozzo?"
"I know nothing, boss. I met them today."
Gibbs slammed his hand against the wall off the elevator. "Damn it, Tony! You've been lying all day." He turned to look at Tony. "You spoke to him in Italian, and you didn't think we'd translate it?"
"…I was hoping you'd trust me enough not to check the video, boss."
"You threw any kind of trust away when you started lying to me. Now what did Sam Winchester mean about you leaving them behind?"
"…I can't answer that boss."
"The hell you can't!"
"Boss, please, I left it all in my past…"
"We don't have time for this, Tony, someone just shot one of the Winchesters and we have to figure out who. I need my whole team for this!"
"You have the whole team, boss. I want to know who shot Sam too."
"If you can't tell me what you know, I can't trust you."
Tony said nothing. If they knew his whole past was a lie, he'd never be able to keep his job. He couldn't lose this life. His brothers weren't worth it… well maybe that was another lie.
Gibbs started the elevator again. "Are you going to make me handcuff you?"
"…No, boss." The elevator opened to the bullpen again and Gibbs directed Tony towards interrogation. They stopped walking when they saw Tobias and a couple of his agents handcuffing McGee. "Boss, what's going on?"
Gibbs dragged Tony to their desks and shoved him into his desk chair. "Stay here."
Tony nodded. Gibbs walked over and grabbed McGee's arm, preventing the agents from taking him to the cells.
"What the hell is going on here, Tobias? You can't just handcuff my agent."
"I can if he was caught on camera shooting Sam Winchester."
"What? He was with me, he didn't shoot anybody. We weren't even in the building."
"Jethro, it was a clear shot of his face. McGee knocked out my agents and shot Sam Winchester. Now let him go so my agents can do their job."
McGee had a pleading look on his face. Gibbs sighed and let him go. "I'll get Abbs to check out the video, McGee. Don't worry. I'm sure the Feds are just idiots again."
"We're just doing our job, Jethro. I already sent the video to Abby. Prove us wrong and I'll happily apologize." Fornell walked away.
Gibbs turned to deal with Tony, but he was gone.
"Damnit DiNozzo."
Once Gibbs was distracted, Tony slipped out of his seat and snuck to the elevators. He rode the elevator down to Abby's lab. She had her loud music playing and didn't notice Tony at first. She was busy scanning the tapes Fornell sent her.
Tony silently grabbed an evidence swab, swabbed his cheek and gently placed it in a sterile tube. He then walked up to Abby.
"Hey Abbs!"
Abby jumped and turned off the music. "Tony! It's so good to see you! How do you know the Winchesters? How do they know you? Why did you speak Italian with Sam Winchester? What are you hiding from us?"
Tony smiled fondly at the normalness of Abby's pep and energy. "Whoa, Abbs, calm down. I just came down to have you run this swab. Test it against the DNA of the Winchesters, okay? Gibbs wants this to be top priority."
"But Tony, you didn't answer my questions! Why would Gibbs have sent you down here if he was mad at you just an hour ago? What's going on, Tony?"
"Abbs, just run the swab, okay? I gotta get back upstairs. A lot is going on." He smiled again and backed out of the lab, ignoring her various questions.
McGee was taken to the holding cells and placed in the one next to Dean's. Dean watched as they uncuffed McGee and locked the cell. He walked over to the adjourning wall of their cells.
"You McGee?"
"…yes."
"If my brother dies, you're dead. No amount of agents will keep me from slitting your throat and watching you bleed out. Understood?" Dean's eyes showed anger, his face a blank mask.
McGee swallowed. "…I didn't shoot your brother…I wasn't even in the building."
"My brother named you as his shooter. Sammy wouldn't make that up."
"I swear I wasn't here…I don't know how I showed up on those cameras, but I wouldn't shoot an unarmed convict, even if he is a Winchester."
"Then how do you explain what happened, huh? You're the smart one on the team, so how the hell were you in two places at once?" Dean paused while McGee stumbled for an answer. "…Shit."
Dean turned his back to McGee and yelled at the agents watching them. "I need to talk to Agent DiNozzo! Now!" The agents rolled their eyes and ignored his demand. "I'm serious! This is urgent! I need to see Agent DiNozzo!"
He yelled like this for a few minutes before he called it quits, for now, and took a seat on his bunk.
"…out."
"What was that, McDead?"
McGee looked slightly startled again. "I said that you wouldn't get a hand on me before Gibbs took you out."
Dean laughed. "Oh, trust me, I've been to hell, heaven, and purgatory. I can easily take your boss down without breaking a sweat. I've been fighting monsters since Sammy was in diapers; your boss would be begging for death if he got in the way of your death."
McGee's eyes widened a little.
"But don't worry, if I'm right with my theory, and you didn't shoot Sammy, then you'll get to live another day, and I'll be out of here shortly."
