Last chapter of season two! WHOO!
Memoria
"Girls." The three turned to acknowledge Lillian as she stood up. All three had traces of betrayal spread across their faces.
"Alana." She was silent, all eyes moved towards her. Everyone watched to see what would happen, if something would happen. Marina could see her sister was hurting, the fact that their own mother attempted to hurt one of her own daughters for a political stunt hurt them all.
The youngest daughter stood there silently with darkened eyes, they loomed as her mother spoke cautiously, "Alana, I never thought that wretched maenad would-"
"Would what? Attempt to kill me? Not, to mention torment this entire town." She spoke in a cool voice laced with anger, turning and refusing to look at her mother. "I only wanted the maenad to scare you, so you could straighten out your act and become the-"
"- The mermaid I was destined to be." She snapped her head to look at her. "You sent a maenad, one of the most vile creatures, to scare me? Well, you got me! Not only did it try to summon some long gone god but it cursed Nexie and I. You could've killed Nexie. Who knows what would've happened if I hadn't healed myself? I almost died twice in the matter of two days, but that was your plan after all."
She stalked towards her mother, Lillian gave her a hard stare and spoke in her usual authoritative tone, "Don't be overdramatic. It wouldn't have laid even a finger on you. Maybe if you weren't so weak due to your time on land I wouldn't had the need to contact the thing."
Sam drew near listening to the conversation as Godric did the same. Sookie had been with Bill but could see the altercation that would soon occur. Cleo and Marina stood defensively behind her sister, knowing how anger affected their mother. A warm breeze flowed passed them as the tension rose. "You fucking bitch." Lillian eyes darkened at Alana's words.
"This was never about me being on land." She began, anger rose with every passing word, "You take out all your hate for our father on me. You know Marina enjoys the land as much as I do, you know she has the same views as me yet you push them aside. Of course when I have the same views I am constantly the problem. This was never about me being the mermaid I was destined to be, this was about me not being my father. Forcing me into marriage, rejecting the idea of Godric and I, instilling that I have a political standing in the kingdom, all of it because you were selfish."
Marina gasped at her sister's outspoken confession. "No wonder he left you. You are just as cold and empty as your own parents. You are nothing but a shell. You cannot nor will ever dictate my life or anyone else's. After all these years one thing I can say for sure is that I understand why he left us behind, you are a cold, calculating, self-absorbed, egotistical narcissist. And I hate you, I hate you more than you could ever imagined and I hope I never have to see your face again." Her face was red with passion and anger as Lillian had an undetectable mask on.
"I don't give birth to the weak. Weakness isn't the kind to survive in this family, that is why your son died all those years ago. He was weak and he was nothing, just like you have become after all these years. I hoped you would've saw that for yourself." Lillian's words were laced with anger and disgust. Alana grabbed her mother's face roughly and looked into her eyes, opening her mouth Lillian watched as her life was being taken from her. Alana sucked her life force, ignoring her Marina's plea to stop while Cleo stood there chilled knowing her sister mindset was gone and only filled with rage.
Struggling to get away, Lillian failed repeatedly knowing her daughter's only mindset was instinctual. Slowly her knees buckled, causing her to collapse. Her eyes drew to a close as her limbs went limp; she could feel herself withering away helplessly. It was slow and a painful process that seemed to last for an eternity but it was all over too quick for Alana to realize what she was doing. Pulling back she looked at her mother with no expression, she watched as the woman who birthed her fell to the ground without the support of her daughter's hand at her neck. Her breathes were labored, and soon her breathing patterns silenced. She had lain there old, and gray skinned almost seeming unrecognizable.
They all stood around silent, staring at the body that soon became nothing but a puddle. "You know we can't hide what you've done. He'll know." Cleo was the first to break the silence that enveloped the air.
"I know. I don't expect you to, I wouldn't want you to." Alana said as she stared at the remains of her mother. She couldn't help feel so guilt ridden and even a tinge of sadness knowing her mother was dead.
"Oh my god. Oh god. She- You? I can't believe this is happening. This is really happening? What am I going to tell my kids? Oh gods-" Marina began hyperventilating as the situation finally hit her. Cleo tried to calm her but the eldest sister seemed to only make her sister panic more.
"Lanie?" Sookie stood up looking at the woman from behind. Picking her head up she spoke in a monotone voice, "I'm gonna take a walk." Turning around she began down the trail away from Sookie's house. Godric's eyes never left hers as she mutely paced away. Sam called her name continuously as she ignored him, hoping to get away fast.
"Hey, Cher." He ran in front of her and grabbed her shoulders scanning her eyes. "Come on let me take you home."
"No," She shook her head and gave a weak smile. She wanted to be alone, she wanted to sit and process everything. "Go help Sookie with Bill and Maryann, they need you right now."
He looked at her unconvinced as she looked down, "Please." Nodding he backed away allowing her to walk towards the woods. The leaves crunched beneath her feet as she walked further and further into the woods. Her breathes were ragged and instead as she slowly began to lose herself; Constantly she scolded herself mentally for what she did, losing control. She couldn't help it, she was angry and hurt by what her mother had done, putting not only her life but Nexie and the entire town's life at stake. She continuously belittled her and something in her snapped, it was the same blind rage that took over her when she was under Titonus's Curse. She mentally hit herself for killing her own mother, she knew she had been no better than Lillian, if anything she was worse. She was weak and she knew it.
She felt like she had wondered for hours, unknowing of where she was or where she was even headed. Dropping to her knees, she could see she was surrounded by trees in a small clearing. A vicious sob ripped through her throat as she relieved vigorous painful memories that continuously replayed, tormenting her, haunting her.

"Pousser" (Push!) The midwife spoke with encouraging word, tilting her head back in pain she cried, "Juste une poussée plus . Tu peux le faire." (Just one more push. You can do it.) Nodding fiercely she gritted her teeth, push as hard as she could. The room was filled with candles, wax spilled over their holders and onto the table tops. Two local midwives assisted the birth as the local doctor worked quickly. Alana had wished Josef was here to see their child, she knew her tribe would disapprove but she loved him. He had seen her upon the shore one early morning and in that very moment they had eyes for only one another.
She was six months pregnant when she heard of his death. A storm had caught him at sea, no crew member was ever recovered. She didn't care if he was human or that he was poor, she loved him and he loved her. She pushed one last time, panting heavily as the midwife dabbed her head with a cloth. She smiled and leaned her head back not only because of the relief from the pressure but the happiness of bring their child into the word.
She would teach them love, music, art, to see the beauty in life, to hear stories of their wonderful father. They would live a life only one could dream of. Opening her eyes, that dream was quickly taken away, "Je suis désolé , l'enfant n'a pas-"(I am sorry, the child did not-)
"No! No, please no." She cried as she watched the silent child in the midwife's arms. "Vous ne devez pas bouger! Allongez-vous , nous devons tendance à vous . (You must not move- Lay down, we must tend to you!) Alana fought the midwife, scream for her son as she watched the other midwife leave the room with the stillborn child.
Kythera, Greece 1466
Alana laid awake listen to the shouts of her parents again. Her father had been missing for days at a time now, he lied about his whereabouts continuously. She could hear her mother walk away and into the bedroom, she pretended to be asleep in hopes that she wouldn't be caught awake. The sounds of the ocean crashing against the rocks outside her window soothed her. She had the same mindset as any seven year old, she was curious as to what was going on. Her mother was never a warm person but she could see her being colder and more distant as the days drew on. Quickly she shut her eyes, hearing footsteps become louder. She could hear her father sigh and get on his knees in beside her bed.
"I know you are awake, little one." He spoke softly in their native tongue. Lifting one eyelid open she giggled quietly and hugged her father, "I missed you, papa."
"I missed you too," Lachlan smiled as she looked at him. "You look tired. Are you sleepy?" She asked after observing his tired green eyes. Shaking his head, he kissed the top of her head, "Go to sleep."
He stood up and began walking out the room, "Are you leaving again?" A tiny voice caught his attention, he didn't respond. "Take me with you. I don't want to be with her, I want to be with you."
"Perhaps one day. Now close your eyes little one, and get some rest." He walked out of the room and into her sister's room. Little did she know that would be the last time she would see him again.
Oceania Court, 1726
Nexie's mother had descended the stairwell with her newborn daughter, Nexie. The entire tribe celebrated the birth of the new princess, her hair was blonde with shining eyes. Her father walked over as they were announced. "Citizens of the Oceania Tribe, today we rejoice at the birth of our heir. King Baal Denairus and Queen Glenda Denairus would like to present their newborn child, Princess Nexie of the Oceania Tribe."
Everyone clapped happily as music filled the air. Smiles and laughter were heard as everyone rejoice. Alana could see her mother was unhappy about the news, she knew Nexie was the only thing in her mother's way in her hunger for power and that meant the throne. "As we are all very happy of what great meaning this will have for us in the future of our beloved Tribe, the King and Queen would like to bestow a watcher to guard their child's life and guide her until her day upon the throne." The room silenced, everyone knew it was one of the greatest honors to be a Watcher of the heir, a guardian of sorts.
Only an old oracle could tell who the chosen person that was destined to hold that great title. An old woman made her way towards the child, her eyes clouded over due to blindness. She placed her curved fingers on the child's head and she spoke in an unknown language quietly to herself, her eyes were closed as she spoke to the unknown. Opening her eyes she smiled, "Alana Sofokleous, you are destined."
All eyes searched for the girl. She paled as her mother grew furious.
Destined.
End of Flashbacks
She felt two strong arm envelope her, taken back she silenced her sobbing to mere whimpers. Moving her head from the shoulder of the intruder she was met with the same blue green eyes she has seen many times before, "Godric..?"
Tears ran down her eyes, she was red from her intense sobbing. He looked at her with soft eyes, "Do not cry, Ally. I can't see you like this it pains me." She looked at him in a confused manor. She couldn't process his word. She just shook her head violently as she began crying again. She was filled with to many emotions to express, she felt as though she couldn't breathe. As if her lungs were filled with nothingness, as if her throat clenched up and tightened, as if her legs failed her, her body betrayed her as she attempted to compose herself.
Pulling her into an embrace once more, he rubbed her back soothingly as she gripped his shirt tightly. She felt safe and comforted once again but she couldn't help but feel bothered.
Her cries softened into nothing as they stayed there in silence, pulling back from their embrace she looked at him, "What are you doing? Why are you taunting me in such a cruel way, Godric?" Her voice was little, she seemed scared to even speak as if she feared his answer. "I would never be cruel to you."
"Then why did you toy with me? Wasn't that enough for you!" She was confused and upset. She stared him hard in the eyes, trying to read him. Trying to see a crack in his expression but his sculpted features only displayed one feeling, one that he always had for her.
"I was wrong to do that. I was trying to protect you but I hurt you even more."
"Wha-"
"I love you, Alana. I never meant to hurt you and seeing you like this pains me."
She looked at his sincere eyes, silence had overcome her. Godric looked into her bright eyes awaiting a response to his confession; The natural sounds of the woods surrounding them became apparent as the two remained quiet for what seemed to be an eternity.
Nexie sat at the counter at Merlotte's downing another beer. Sookie and Sam watched her with caution as she gazed into oblivion. Three days had passed since Alana had left, she hadn't heard from her and didn't expect to hear from her for awhile. Diana attempted to quiet her concerns but it was to no avail, Nexie was on overdrive. Her eyebrows creased as she stared at the photos on the backsplash of the bar.
"So Bill's taking me on a secret date. Do you want to come over and help me get ready? It'll be like we are bonding."
"That's great, Sook." She answered numbly. Passing a glance to Sam, he took his cue and walked over, "Okay, what's going on? I know it has to do something with Lana going on her trip."
Her finger traced the top of the empty beer glass, "It's not a trip. It's a trail for her execution."
"What?!" Sookie screeched and Sam stood there flabbergasted, "Killing one of our own is a heinous offense, she'll pay for it and she is the perfect person to make an example out of it."
Sam shook his head, "Isn't there something we can do? Can't we go talk some sense into whoever is making that decision?" Nexie shook her head, sighing she stood up and grabbed her bag. She turned to the two who eyed her carefully with great concern for their friend.
"All we can do is sit and wait hoping she doesn't get-"
She turned around to walk out and was greeted by a man with light mocha skin. He smiled flashing his pearl white teeth, his chiseled jaw would've made any woman drop at her knees. He stood a less than a foot taller than her. "Nexie Denarius?"
She scowled at him, "Depends who's asking buddy."
"I do hear you are quite lovely." He said sarcastically. Sam and Sookie watched the exchange, "I'm Hale Garner, your new watcher."
She turned her head, wide eyed and started at the duo. "-a death warrant." She said breathlessly finishing her statement before Hale arrived.
Sam and Sookie's eyes met as Nexie looked back at Hale who was confused by her statement.
The lavender haired girl stared at him, only one word slipped out in a quiet whisper matching the faerie and shifter duo's feelings as well.
"Fuck."
