Erin woke up to the warm, possessive, feeling of a hand curved around her breast. Groaning a little, she shifted around in the bed a little before opening her eyes and lazily looking over to see who was next to her. A soft squeak of surprise escaped her lips when she saw it was Spencer, and sensations began to flood her body as she realized that his legs were entwined with hers and that even though he was still fast asleep, one part of his anatomy was already at attention.
Blushing a little, she tried to relax in his arms, to imagine that they were in a loving relationship, before he woke up and shattered that pretty little myth. But it seemed that he had felt her first stirrings, and was starting to wake up, as she felt his hand tighten around her breast, his thumb absently swiping against her nipple. She let out another soft groan as she felt it tighten into a hard bud, and she warred with moving his hand and giving herself over to the pleasure he was bringing her. They hadn't really talked since he had brought her flowers, and while it was clear that the chemistry was still hot between them, she didn't want to rush headlong into something that they would both regret when they were thinking with cooler heads.
Still, his touches were nice to feel, and she let out a moan as she felt his lips ghost along the line of her neck and shoulder. "Spencer," she breathed out as she turned in his arms, seeing him open his eyes lazily, a trusting, open, look on his face. "Good morning."
"Good morning, Erin," he replied just as quietly, and she smiled a little as he leaned in and kissed her gently. "What time is it?"
"A little after six. This is the time that I normally wake up, even without an alarm. I didn't mean to wake you, too."
"If this is the sight I wake up to every morning, then I don't mind being woken up so early."
She knew he was trying to flatter her, but found that, despite the hurt he had caused her earlier, she was happy for this banter. "I suppose that could be arranged," she said as she sat up, letting the sheet pool around her hips. He gazed at her with something akin to adoration, and she let her smile widen as she stretched more fully. Spencer reached out and stroked the still tiny rise of her bump. "It's still early days, of course, but…"
"But you look pregnant already. And there's a glow to you, when you're happy, that makes you look so beautiful. To think, I might have missed out on this vision by being so stupid. I know, it will take you a long time to move past the words I said to you in anger, but…is there a way that we could start again?"
He looked apprehensively hopeful, and she decided to go with her heart this time, rather than her head, and nodded a little, leaning down to brush her lips against his before answering. "I'd like that, truly I would," she whispered. She wanted to say more when the bedroom door opened, and she gasped a little as she fumbled for the sheet.
"Oh, my god, I assumed you were still sleeping. I was just going to get your clothes and stick them in the wash with mine. Breakfast will be ready in about fifteen minutes."
Penelope backed out of the room without looking at them, shutting the door with a loud bang, and Erin burst into laughter as she fell down on Spencer, tucking her head into the crook of his neck as she tried to get control of herself once more. It felt so good to have his arms close around her waist, holding her tight, and soon her laughter turned into a moan as she felt his hands slip down to her hips, pulling her closer to him even as he turned his face and began to kiss the first open piece of skin he could find.
"If we didn't have to get down to breakfast, we could let things take their natural course," she said breathlessly, clambering off him and heading over to the closet. Erin could feel his eyes tracking her movements as she pulled out clean clothes for the day. "I wish that you had something fresh to wear, but hopefully no one notice's you're in yesterday's clothes."
"I'll just take a clean shirt out of my go bag when I get in to work. Though I suppose that I should head out now…"
"No!" She turned and face him, holding a blouse up to her chest as she looked at him. "Please, stay for breakfast?"
"If it means that much to you, then yes."
Grinning, she nodded and finished putting together an outfit for the day before tugging a shirt over her head and then padding over to his side. Bending down, she kissed him softly. "I'm going to take a quick shower, and then I'll be downstairs. Try not to let Penelope eviscerate you before I can come to your rescue."
He nodded, and Erin caressed his cheek before making her way from the room and across the hall to what she was fast coming to think of as her bathroom. Stripping off the shirt and her panties, she set the fresh outfit on the counter before stepping into the shower and turning the water on. As the warm water washed over her, she allowed herself to think about what had happened in the last twenty-four hours, and found that she was actually happy with where things were heading between her and Spencer. Things felt right, which was more than she could have hoped for based on his reaction to her news.
Humming lowly under her breath, she quickly washed and then stepped out, drying off before wrapping a large bath sheet around her body and quickly applying her makeup for the day. It didn't take her very long to get dressed, though she did find her skirt a bit tight already. That would take some getting used to, she knew, but it would be a welcome change. Smiling at her reflection, Erin took a deep breath before heading down to the kitchen. She could hear voices talking animatedly as she paused, wondering if she should just barge in and interrupt.
"It's not like you to hesitate, Erin," Dave said as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
"They need some time to get used to this new dynamic. I didn't want to just waltz in and shut down something important, you know."
"I do, but we need to eat while it's warm."
She shook her head a little as she stepped closer to him. "I hope you understand why I've forgiven him so easily, David. You remember my last pregnancy."
"I do, and I do. It's easier to be forgiving when you want to be tender. And you're right, having us inclined to be nice to you will help smooth things over between the others."
"I never said…"
"Your face did, bella. I can still read your features like an open book." He stroked her hair gently, and she smiled and gave him a small nod, taking his arm and allowing him to lead her into the kitchen. Spencer and Penelope were gathered near the stove, talking still, and she smiled as Dave helped her up onto a stool at the island before pressing a soft kiss to the side of her head. "All right, what are we having for breakfast?"
"Poached eggs and French toast. Reid was just cutting up some oranges for us, too. Coffee is brewing, and it shouldn't be too long until it's ready. Is there anything else you want, Erin?"
"This will be fine, Penelope, honestly. I think I might be in too good a mood to eat. But if you'll tell Spencer where the vitamins are, I should try to get them down before we eat."
Penelope nodded as she pointed to the right cupboard, and he went and found her bottle, bringing it and a glass of water over to her side. "Here."
"Thanks," she replied lowly, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as he took a seat next to her. The smile she received in return told her all that she needed to know about where they would go from here, and prayed that their lives would always be so blessed.
