Jane and Paulie walked into the dining hall, immediately spotting Beca sitting by herself. With a confused look, they each made their way over to where the brunette sat slumped over with her head resting on her arms that were folded on the table.
Jane took a seat, slamming a hand on the table to get her attention, "Wassup Beca."
Beca looked up, confused at the sudden commotion, before shaking her head. "Nothing, I'm just tired, is all."
Jane titled her head, taking note of the bandage on the side of Beca's head, "What happened to your head."
Beca didn't say anything at first instead choosing to chew at the inside of her cheek. After a few seconds she shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant, "I—I fell."
It was lie but she really wasn't in the mood to explain any of what happened between her and Aubrey. Besides, she wasn't even sure herself what happened. One moment she was kissing Aubrey and she was sure Aubrey was kissing her back. Then, suddenly she was being pushed, hard, and she hit her head. The look of disgust mixed with hate written on Aubrey's face hurt and she needed to get away from the blonde as soon as possible. She left angrily and didn't return at all that night. She managed to sneak in the TV room and sleep on the couch, just so that she wouldn't have to face Aubrey. It was becoming too much and she was trying way too hard for a girl who didn't want her. Beca Mitchell wasn't this desperate, and she was sure in time she could forget Aubrey just like she'd come to get over Chloe.
With narrowed eyes, Paulie looked from Beca to Jane in skepticism before deciding to drop it. She wasn't one to push people to talk when it was obvious they didn't want to.
"Well are you ready to see who you're future husband is?" Paulie said in fake enthusiasm.
Beca rolled her eyes, "No. I don't even see the point of this whole thing. It's stupid." Her hand flew to her head as pain surged through her skull, and she bit her lip to refrain from crying out. She could feel the other two girls looking at her and in an attempt to draw the attention away from herself she pointed to the door where Cynthia Rose and Benji had just entered.
"Look who's here." When the two turned away, she wiped at a tear that had fallen, not wanting them to see how much pain she was in.
"Good morning." Benji said, taking an empty seat next to Beca. He looked over to the smaller girl and pointed to the bandage on her forehead.
"What happened to your head?"
Paulie and Jane both narrowed their eyes and responded simultaneously, "she fell."
Cynthia Rose glanced at the smaller girl sideways, "You fell?"
Beca rolled her eyes, her hands flying up in exasperation, "Yes I fell. Is that so hard to believe?"
Benji placed a hand on Beca's shoulder, "Well now we match." he pointed to the bandage on his forehead, slightly smaller than Beca's.
"What happened to you?" she asked in return.
Benji's eyes looked up as if he could see the bandage, "I don't know actually. I woke up with another sore on my head." He pointed to his forehead and laughed, "It's nothing in comparison to the one on my leg. It's like this big." He raised his hands to demonstrate the size of the sore on his leg.
"Dude, you need to see a doctor." Beca shoved him lightly, "I thought you said you were going to see her today."
"I will—tomorrow." When he saw Beca roll her eyes he quickly continued, "I just want to go to the dance tonight. They won't let me go if I'm sick with the flu or something."
Beca opened her mouth to comment when Jane said, "Look it's Aubrey." Everyone turned and looked to where she was entering the dining hall, the fresh bandage on her wrist not going unnoticed by Beca. They all watched as she walked past the table and to another table situated towards the back of the room. Beca rolled her eyes and turned back around.
"What's her problem?" Jane questioned.
"Probably sick over kissing Beca." Paulie joked. Jane shoved her telling her to shut up, "She didn't mean that Beca."
Beca sighed and shrugged her shoulders, "You know what? I don't care. I'm not one to beg someone. If she wants to forget what happened, fine." She snapped her fingers and chuckled bitterly, "It's forgotten. Aubrey Posen is forgotten."
Everyone watched her, sneaking glances at one another. They were all thinking the same thing but chose not to comment.
"Good morning everyone." Jordan smiled, standing in front of them with a pile of white envelopes.
She grinned mockingly at them, "You all look well rested—and sober."
"Real funny." Paulie said, fighting the urge to flip off the counselor. She was one of the few people at this place that she didn't mind.
Jordan looked around the table before furrowing her brow in confusion, "Where's Aubrey?"
No one said anything, casting glances at Beca. Aubrey looked at them before turning towards Jordan. She shrugged, "It doesn't matter. She's a pretentious bitch anyway."
Jordan raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Um ok." She gestured to the envelopes in her hands, "Well I have all of your results." She skimmed through the twenty envelopes in her hands and picked out the five envelopes with each of their names written on it.
They all took their letter, quickly opening them.
Cynthia Rose was the first to get hers open and she quickly read the first line, "Miss Cynthia Rose Adams, you're test has been scored and we have found you to be most compatible to Mr. Benjamin Applebaum for Unification." Her mouth dropped open as she excitedly read the words. Benji who'd been simultaneously reading his letter grinned widely at her. The two of them high fived each other before hugging excitedly. Both teenagers looked over to Jordan who stood at the next table handing out envelopes. She smiled at them, bringing a finger to her lips signaling them to keep quiet about what she'd done.
Beca smiled at them, excited for her friends. Jane shared her smile, "You guys are lucky. I got some kid named Arnold."
"Who's Arnold?" Paulie asked, still trying to open her envelope without ripping the contents inside.
"It's that kid that always has on the red hat." Cynthia Rose explained, snatching Paulie's envelope out her hand to open it herself.
Jane's face contorted in disgust, "Oh no. Really? He smells weird."
Paulie accepted her now opened envelope and grinned at Jane, "How would you know how he smells?"
"When we were playing basketball I had to defend him. He smells like Spam." Jane explained, stopping to look over at Paulie's shoulder to see her results.
"Looks like you did a little better than me. You got Eli."
Paulie rolled her eyes, throwing her letter down on the table, "Well at least I know he won't try to hit on me. He makes George Michaels seem straight."
"But George Michael isn't gay." Benji said.
Paulie rolled her eyes and chuckled mockingly, "Right."
"Who did you get, Beca?" Cynthia Rose gestured to the untouched envelope in front of the smaller girl.
Beca shrugged and didn't bother opening her envelope. Benji laughed and reached out to grab the envelope managing to grab it before Beca could stop him.
He opened the letter and quickly scanned over the letter, mouthing the words to himself. When he got to the name of her partner, his eyes widened before slowing looking up to meet Beca's. He looked over to Cynthia Rose and handed her the letter. Her expression mirrored his after she read the results. Beca watched as her letter was passed around the table, the silence beginning to aggravate her.
She rubbed at her temple in frustration, "What does it say?"
"Um…You have Jesse Swanson." Cynthia Rose uttered.
Beca looked around at everyone in confusion, "Who's Jesse Swanson and why does he sound like a knock off cowboy?"
Cynthia Rose looked at everyone for assurance before sighing, "He's one of five confirmed bisexuals at this camp."
Beca frowned, "I don't see the problem."
Benji sighed, his hands dropping down to the table, "The bisexuals are almost guaranteed to graduate. They are always successful in unification." He sits back in his chair and bites at his bottom lip, "However it is weird that you got partnered with him. They usually are partnered together; Jordan said it increases the chances of success, something about increasing statistics for the sponsors."
Paulie slammed her hand down on the table, "I bet you it was Westmore's idea. You've been targeted." She said.
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement, except Beca who was still confused. "I'm lost. What do you mean I've been targeted? I thought our partners were determined by the test."
Cynthia shook her head, "No Beca, they aren't. They tell you that but it's Westmore who has the final say. How do you think Jordan was able to rig it? The counselors offer their pairing choices and since there's so many, Westmore usually just approves the counselor's pairing choices. However, on certain people she stops to review their results."
Beca's fist bawled in frustration, "That's bullshit. So what do I do?"
"You try to ignore everything he tries. Bologna Barb told me that Jesse probably isn't even bisexual based on what he says in therapy."
Jane rolled her eyes, "Really Paulie. You really insist on calling that girl Bologna Barb?"
"Yes I do." Paulie retorted defensively. "You haven't seen her naked, okay. I have and her boobs look like bologna. So from now one she's 'Bologna Barb'."
Beca looked at her discarded letter, "Well I'm not going to suddenly like guys. Besides, how hard could it be?"
\***/
"Explain to me why I have to wear a dress?" Beca sucked her teeth for the umpteenth time that night since Cynthia Rose had brought over the dress her roommate offered to loan Beca for the night.
Cynthia Rose placed the curling iron in her hand on the desk, reaching out to tease the curls that were still tightly coiled on the right side of Beca's head. "Beca it's the rules. All girls have to wear a dress and all boys have to wear slacks and a tie."
"But this is stupid. I look stupid. Plus, why did I have to cover up my tattoos?"
Cynthia Rose resumed curling Beca's hair and shook her head in amusement. "Because Jordan suggested you do it. You know she's looking out for all of us. You're lucky I was able to find a makeup that matched your skin tone." She looked over Beca's hair once more before reaching out to unplug the curling iron.
"I'm done. Take a look." Beca rolled her eyes before standing up and walking over to the mirror situated by her closet. She was just glad that Cynthia Rose's roommate owned a simple cream dress because she refused to leave the room in anything that even remotely favored pink or purple if she absolutely had to wear a dress. She was never one for dressing up. She didn't even own a dress, hence having to borrow it from Cynthia Rose's roommate. She looked at her reflection and had to admit Cynthia Rose did a really good job on her hair. She turned around to voice as much when she caught sight of what the other girl held.
"I'm not wearing those!" she said, shaking her head profusely at the black heels in the other girl's hand.
"C'mon Beca. There's a dress code and besides, no one owned any flats that fit your small feet anyway."
Beca rolled her eyes but acquiesced and slipped on the heels. She walked back over to the mirror and Cynthia Rose had to admit, she was graceful in her walk. Beca caught sight of her expression and rolled her eyes, "I was a little girl once that liked walking around in mommy's shoes."
Cynthia Rose laughed and grabbed her bag off of the desk. The sound of knocking echoed throughout the room and Beca walked the few feet to the door. She opened it to reveal Benji who stood with his hand in the air prepared to knock again. She looked him up in down, taking note of the black pants he wore with a gray and black pinstriped button up, complimented with a pencil black thin tie.
"You sure do clean up nice." She said sardonically.
He stuck his tongue out at her, "I can say the same for you."
Beca rolled her eyes and punched him in the arm playfully. Rubbing at his arm, he looked to Cynthia Rose, extending his arms on both sides of him.
"Are you ready m'ladies?" Both girls curtsied mockingly before each girl took a side and looped their arms around his.
They managed to make it to the ballroom, jokingly kicking their legs out in a cancan style manner. It didn't take them long to reach the building where the social was being held. The events sole purpose was to give everyone the opportunity to meet and socialize with their Unification partners.
Jordan, who stood by the door accepting tickets (a way of making sure everyone attended), smiled when she saw the three approaching. She stood up and greeted them with a hug.
"You all look really nice." She said gesturing to their attire.
Benji smiled and extended his hand, "I can say the same about you Miss Jordan Ramsey." He took her hand spinning her around, "You're a ten darling," he drawled out charismatically. Jordan laughed at him and walked back around the table to retake her seat.
"Beca you look really nice. That dress suits you."
Beca rolled her eyes and pulled on the hem of the dress. "I feel stupid."
"Well you look really beautiful." Jordan said. She looked around to make sure the other counselors were preoccupied before leaning in to whisper, "And I'm glad you covered up your tattoos. My mother threatened to throw any and every one that didn't adhere to the dress code into isolation."
Beca's eyes widened at the news and she scratched at the back of her neck nervously, "Um—thanks."
"No problem. Just looking out for you because the Lord knows I know how spiteful my mother can be."
She checked off their names on the chart situated to the left of her on the table before looking back up at them with a smile, "You guys are all set. You can go inside."
"Ok, but make sure you come inside so that I can get a dance." Benji said.
Jordan chuckled at him before agreeing, "I'll see what I can do."
"That's all I can ask." Benji said before being pulled inside by the two other girls.
They stepped inside and were greeted by the sound of Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood spilling from the speakers. Beca rolled her eyes and looked over to the DJ booth. She scoffed at the sight of some middle aged man standing behind the booth holding several records.
Benji seemed to agree with her. He bumped her hip with his to catch her attention, "Of course Mrs. Westmore would find the oldest DJ around."
"I know. When was this song made, like 1983?"
Cynthia Rose laughed and pulled them over to where Jane and Paulie stood. The two looked up to the approaching trio from where they were talking.
"Wassup guys. Look at you three, dressed to impress." Paulie said. Beca raised an eyebrow and look at the dresses that they wore.
"Don't say anything." Jane said, pointing an accusatory finger at Beca. "My mother bought this monstrosity." She said and gestured to the lavender sun dress she wore.
Paulie looked back from where she'd been eying the punch bowl, "I'll be back." They watched her walk over to unguarded punch bowl and pull a silver flask from under her dress. She looked around to check for counselors before depositing all of the contents of the flask into the red punch. Beca smiled, excited that she could at least get drunk to pass the time.
"Rebecca?"
Beca turned around at her named being called, and she came face to face with a tall teenager grinning widely at her. If this was Jesse, God kill her now.
"Beca. It's Beca."
The other boy smiled and extended his hand, "I'm Jesse. When I found out you were my partner I knew it was fate. The awkward singing nerd and the rebellious girl."
Beca glanced over her shoulder for help only to see that her friends had abandoned her. With an exasperated sigh she turned back around to face Jesse who was still rambling on about God knows what.
She crossed her arms in front of her and looked around the group where everyone stood in groups conversing with their friends. She looked over to the door when it opened. When a taller blonde that she didn't recognized walked through with Aubrey on her arm she narrowed her eyes. Who was this loser? She watched the two walk further into the room and over to the punch bowl. The blonde guy handed her a glass of punch, leaning over to whisper something in Aubrey's ear. Beca saw red at the sight of Aubrey looking at him and laughing, hitting him on the arm flirtatiously.
"And then I was like—"
Beca held up a hand to cut him off. "How about we go and meet the other couples." She said, grabbing his hand and dragging him over to the two blondes before he could even agree.
Aubrey stood by the punch table, sipping at the punch in her glass. After Luke informed her it was possible someone spiked the bowl, she was a little hesitant to drink it, but she didn't want to appear to be inexperienced around him. He was after all a junior in college.
Beca walked over to the two eyeing the blonde tensely, "Hello Aubrey."
Aubrey looked over from her glass and gasped at the sight of a very angry Beca standing in front of her. The two eyed each other as if they could communicate everything they were feeling telepathically. Aubrey chewed her bottom lip as she looked at Beca. She hadn't seen Beca in close to a day and going 24 hours without seeing her when they spent every day together prior to that, she missed her. A part of her was upset and pissed because Beca had no right to kiss her last night, especially after she explicitly stated she didn't want to engage in the sin that was a relationship with the brunette. But another part of her was happy and excited despite how wrong she knew it was.
Beca continued to stare at Aubrey with a scowl on her face, then her gaze shifted and she glared at the unknown blonde in front of her. Her jaw line visibly tense and her hands balled into tight fists. Jesse looked between the two and chuckled nervously. He pulled his hand out of his pocket and reached between the two of them.
"Hey, man. I'm Jesse."
The tall blonde, who had also been watching the silent exchange between the two, stood by Aubrey with a weird look on his face. It was obvious how confused he was and he welcomed the distraction from Jesse.
"Hey, I'm Luke." He responded, shaking the hand offered to him.
"You look nice." Beca said tersely.
Who was she kidding, she thought Aubrey looked beautiful, her hair pinned to the side with a small diamond clip holding her blonde curls in place. The yellow dress she wore highlighted every aspect of her body and the diamond bracelet she wore helped draw attention away from the red marks on her arms, although Beca could see her subconsciously holding her wrist close to her body. Aubrey returned a soft thanks and they returned to silence.
"Are you going to introduce me to your date?"
"No!" Aubrey practically shouted.
Luke looked at her, surprised by her reaction, "Aubrey, are you okay?"
Beca rolled her eyes. A British accent, really? Where in the hell did she find this guy?
Beca looked from where she'd been staring at Aubrey to Luke offering him a tight lipped smile. Her voice dripping with sarcasm she said, "Of course she's ok. I mean, why wouldn't she be ok? She has a hunk like you for a date with a British accent to boot."
Aubrey frowned at her, feeling that Beca had no right to be upset about what happened. She was the one that fooled herself into thinking anything could ever happen between them.
"It's pretty rude to not introduce us." Beca eyed Aubrey cynically.
Aubrey rolled her eyes, "I don't owe you anything!"
Luke looked at Aubrey again in confusion, picking up on the obvious tension stemming from the two women.
"Aubrey, what's going on? Why do you keep shouting?" he asked.
"Nothing is going on!"
Aubrey quickly realized how ridiculous she must have appeared to Luke. She blew out a breath she didn't realize she was holding to calm down and then turned to face him. "I'm sorry for shouting. Nothing is wrong ok." She smiled and tried to put on her most believable voice, "There's no need for an introduction. Beca is just my roommate, that's all. She's not even really a friend and the truth is, we're not close enough for me to want to introduce you."
"Wow." Beca said. For a moment she didn't believe but the pure honesty written on her face—she needed to leave before she hurt the nearest person to her. She nodded her head in understanding, allowing Aubrey's words to sink in before she walked away from the group. Aubrey took a sip of her punch and discreetly watched Beca walk away, her heart plummeting to the pit of her stomach.
Jesse looked back at Aubrey before waving at them, "It was nice to meet you guys." He shoved his hands back in his pocket and turned to follow Beca.
"Hey, are you ok?" he asked when he reached where she sat sitting. She looked absolutely defeated.
Beca wiped at a few tears before they even reached her cheek and nodded her head, "I'm fine." She stood up and walked over to where Cynthia Rose and Benji were dancing. She knew she could count on them to at least make her feel better.
"Hey B, are you alright?" Cynthia Rose asked noticing the puffiness under Beca's eyes despite her attempts to hide it.
"Yeah." She said unconvincingly. Benji wrapped her in a hug, "We saw what happened with Posen. She's bitch. You said so yourself."
Beca wrapped an arm around him and nodded her head. She wasn't one for hugs but she was hurting. Never had she'd ever thought Aubrey could say such malicious hateful things. No, strike that, she knew the blonde could but she never thought that she could ever direct them at her—not after all they shared. After a few seconds she wiped at her eyes and pulled away from Benji.
"C'mon. I'm so over this pity party. Let's not let this night go to waste." She said noticing the song change to "Don't You Forget about Me" by Simple Minds. The sound of someone excited shouting caught their attention and when she turned around she saw Jesse, running to the center of the dance floor. He danced around, jumping wildly to what he declared a cinematic masterpiece. Everyone watched him, cheering him on until the song switched to Thriller by Michael Jackson. However this didn't deter him and he seemed to gain a second wind as the opening bass line filled the room. He turned towards Beca and offered his hand. She shook her head but nonetheless kicked off her heels and joined him in the center of the dance floor. He began to serenade her, singing the famous lines of the Pop Icon. Beca laughed in surprise but played along nonetheless. Benji grabbed the microphone and began to recite verbatim the eerie narration that spanned the interlude of the song. Everyone watched as Jesse began to perfectly do the dance moves of the famous song and all cheered when Beca joined in. Benji dropped the microphone and joined in, encourage Cynthia Rose, Paulie, and Jane. Everyone got in on the famous dance led by Jesse and Beca, perfectly imitating the zombie like movements required for the dance. Benji managed to pull Jordan onto the dance floor who was also able to match the choreography flawlessly. Even Luke wanted to join in and he tried to get Aubrey to come along but she adamantly refused and stayed behind as he walked over to the dance floor and joined in. She watched from her seat sadly as everyone laughed and had a good time.
It was all becoming too much for her and she felt like she was suffocating in the room. Placing her empty glass on the table, she quietly made her way out the building, none of the counselors noticing her impromptu exit since they were all watching the scene on the dance floor.
Beca, who noticed Aubrey slip out the back door, shouted to Jesse over the music that she was going to the bathroom. He nodded his hand and turned back to the group, leading everyone in the rest of the dance. She quickly slipped on the flip flops that she'd brought along with her and slipped out the door she'd seen Aubrey walk out of a few seconds earlier.
She walked out into the cool night air and looked around for the blonde. Catching sight of blonde hair before it disappeared on the side of the building she jogged to catch the blonde.
"Aubrey." she whispered when she reached the girl who was leaning against the side of the building.
Aubrey who'd been quietly whispering scripture to herself, cursed lightly and wiped at a tear in her eye. "Leave me alone, Beca." She called, trying to hide the emotion in her voice.
Beca ignored her request and continued to walk closer, "I'm not leaving until you give me a real explanation of why you're so afraid of this because that bullshit you said to Luke is exactly that—bullshit."
"Please, Beca. Drop it." She pleaded, not bothering to hide the tears streaming down her face.
Beca stepped in front of Aubrey, reaching out to wipe gently at her eyes.
Aubrey's eyes slipped shut at her gentle touch and she exhaled lightly. After a few minutes, her hand reached up to rest upon Beca's, "Beca, you make me feel something I absolutely cannot feel."
"Aubrey look at me." Beca whispered, her voice so soft Aubrey barely heard it.
Aubrey opened her eyes and met steel grey ones staring back at her. She held Beca's gaze and tried to control her labored breathing as Beca leaned in closer. Beca searched her eyes, a pain in her green them so deep it nearly broke the brunette's heart.
Aubrey could feel Beca's lips hesitantly resting just inches from hers as she whispered, "I can't want you, Beca."
Beca caught her breath and met her eyes, then kissed her. Sweetly, touching her mouth to hers, testing, then, tasting her tears that continued to stream down her face. Aubrey didn't move toward her, but she lifted her face and Beca curved her hand around Aubrey's neck, deepening the kiss ever so slowly. Something about Aubrey's surrender made her want to weep. She didn't hurry, just explored Aubrey's mouth then broke away to kiss her cheek, then her forehead, her eyes, one then the other, then finally back to her lips. Aubrey sighed in her arms, a slow shudder that seemed to release something she'd been holding tight.
"Beca?"
Jesse's voice rang out in the distance and Beca had to bit her lip to stop from shouting in frustration. Why did this keep happening? Aubrey, spell broken, pushed Beca away. She wrapped her arms around herself and walked away, going in the opposite direction of the approaching boy with a second glance back.
With an angry scowl she turned to Jesse, "What in the hell do you want?"
Jesse looked at her in surprised. He could have sworn that after the fun they had a few minutes ago, she would was warming up to him.
"It's the last dance of the night and everyone has to dance with their partner."
Beca sighed and brushed past him, making her way back into the building. "Where do Broken Hearts Go" by Whitney Houston ironically filled the room that had now glowed in a dark blue radiating from a strobe light above. Beca rolled her eyes at the extended hand that Jesse offered her. With an exasperated sigh she took his hand and allowed him to lead her to the dance floor and as luck would have it, they stood right next to where Aubrey stood dancing with Luke. Beca wrapped her arms around Jesse's neck, and looked over to Aubrey who stood in Luke's arms, with one hand in his, the other positioned on his left arm as she wrested her head against his chest. Aubrey opened her eyes and met Beca's who was staring intensely at her. Aubrey couldn't find the strength to look away and Beca didn't want to look away as Aubrey's watery eyes glistened in the light. Aubrey blinked away a few tears before turning away from Beca, the last line of Whitney Houston's ballad fading out in the room.
I look into your eyes and I know that you still care for me.
\**/
Aubrey had been in the room for over an hour before Beca stumbled in. She had already showered and dressed for bed by the time she heard the key turn in the lock. She could here Cynthia Rose wishing her a good night and she clenched her eyes shut in hopes that Beca wouldn't bother her. She listened as Beca cursed softly at hitting her toe on the edge of her bed as she walked into the bathroom to shower and she was glad that Beca didn't try and get her to talk about what happened earlier that night. Maybe she could get some sleep tonight after all. When the running water finally shut off ten minutes, leaving the room in silence, Aubrey turned on her side to face the wall. She clutched her pillow to her chest and closed her eyes again.
Beca exited the bathroom in just her underwear and a t-shirt and walked over to her bed. She took the metal piercings out of her ears and sat them on her bedside table before getting under her blanket. It took her all of five minutes to get frustrated and sit up in the dark room realizing she couldn't sleep. She looked over at Aubrey and knew the other girl wasn't asleep. Her breathing pattern was different when she slept and Beca could tell, even from where she sat in the dark room, the blonde was not asleep. She knew she couldn't allow the night to pass and give Aubrey time to regret what happened again. She needed to take initiative because waiting on Aubrey to make the first move had failed completely. She slipped out of bed and quietly made her way over to Aubrey's bed, sitting on the edge.
With a tentative hand, she reached out and placed a hand on Aubrey's arm, "Bree, I know you're not asleep."
Aubrey didn't respond and was content on maintaining the façade that she couldn't hear the brunette.
Beca sighed, her eyes slipping shut, "Bree, please look at me. Please"
The desperation in her voice caused Aubrey to turn over before she could even stop herself and the moment she was laying on her back looking up at her roommate, her lips were met by Beca's.
Her hands immediately flew out to push Beca away but the brunette anticipated it and grabbed Aubrey's arms, pinning them above her head. Aubrey's instinct was to fight but the moment their lips touched the familiar tingle in her stomach evolved to fireworks. Beca's lips were so soft against her own and her heart felt like it would give at any minute due to its insistent hammering against her rib cage. Beca separated from the kiss and kissed her softly on the cheek, whispering, "I'm not going to hurt you."
When Aubrey didn't respond, she kissed her again on the side of the mouth and released her hands, reaching down to cup the side of her face with her hand, softly turning Aubrey's mouth towards her.
Aubrey's kiss was passive at first, saturated with indecision but she put one of her hands gently on Beca's arm and at that moment Beca knew it was her way of saying she wasn't rejecting her. Beca pulled back and looked into Aubrey's eyes, trying to gauge how she felt. She wouldn't force Aubrey to do this if she truly didn't want to.
"I love you Bree." She breathed.
Aubrey was silent before whispering softly, "I know."
Beca smiled and leaned down slowly to kiss her again, pulling her closer. Less timid this time around, Aubrey reached up and placed her trembling free hand on the back of Beca's neck, deepening the kiss. Her soft moans and anxious short breaths filled the room and it soon became too much for Beca to handle for a second longer. She couldn't resist touching her any longer and she finally gave in to desire. Kissing her neck, Beca traced her fingertips down the side of Aubrey's breast, down her stomach and even further down to Aubrey's hips, stopping every so often between as to not scare her away. She could feel Aubrey tremble knowing what her intentions were and Beca loved the effect she was having on the blonde.
Leaning down once again, she reengaged the kiss, smiling at the soft moan Aubrey expressed as she traced her fingertips over the blonde's stomach and slowly lower, just above her pubic bone. Aubrey's eyes fluttered shut as she tried to block out everything accept the feel of being here with Beca, of being touched and loved by Beca as she felt the brunette dip her hand even lower. She moaned into Beca's mouth as she felt her delicate hands caress the inside of her thighs with her fingers, shuddering at the feeling of Beca's hand resting above the cotton of her underwear.
Beca smiled at how aroused Aubrey was for and it wasn't out of vanity or cockiness, it was out of pure flattery that Aubrey was giving herself so fully and wholly to her. With one hand she breeched the fabric of her underwear, and danced ever so lightly over Aubrey's center, pulling back when she felt Aubrey try to arch her hips towards her frustrated. She needed to hear Aubrey vocally express that this was what she wanted because she didn't think she could forget about this in the morning if they proceeded from here. They weren't just having sex, they were making love and she couldn't—wouldn't—forget this if Aubrey regretted it in the morning.
Aubrey eyes met hers and she watched as Aubrey wiped at a fallen tear, gasping lightly, "Please…"
Gaining the confirmation she sought, Beca thrust two fingers inside of Aubrey, taking care not to hurt her, silencing her cry out in pleasure with her lips against the blonde's. Moaning into Beca's mouth, Aubrey arched her hips towards her as Beca began to move her hand.
"Breathe, Bree." She whispered and Aubrey loudly exhaled a breath she didn't realize she was holding. Aubrey's eyes fluttered open and looked at her, vision hazy with desire and pleasure. Their eyes met and for a moment Beca couldn't move, lost in the connection she shared with Aubrey. Beca knew part of her was now a part of Aubrey and there was no turning back.
She bent again to kiss Aubrey on the side of her flushed face as she resumed her movement, taking care to listen and respond to Aubrey's soft moans.
Beca reached up with her left hand, wiping away a golden lock that has stuck to Aubrey's forehead with sweat. Leaned over she whispered in Aubrey's ear, "You're so beautiful."
As Beca continued to work her hand in and out of Aubrey knowing she wouldn't last much longer. Aubrey's hands left their place on Beca's arms and snaked around her waist, pulling her closer. Beca welcomed the slight stinging from Aubrey's fingernails digging to her back and continued to bring Aubrey closer to release.
"Don't stop." Aubrey breathed, speaking for the first time since they'd began. Beca nodded and obeyed the request, adjusting her body so that she could thrust into Aubrey deeper. Aubrey bit at her lip, drawing blood as she felt her pending climax approach.
Seeing Aubrey come undone at her hands was a sight that Beca never thought she'd love as much as she did. As Aubrey's orgasm peaked and fell, Beca shifted, wrapping an arm around Aubrey's waist to pull her closer. Beca held her body against hers, kissing her softly, and she didn't remove her fingers from within Aubrey until her body finally stopped shaking. As she held her, she whispered sweet adorations of love, telling Aubrey how perfect and beautiful she was. She was lost in the blonde and what this encounter meant to her.
She couldn't have wished for this moment to be any more perfect.
Aubrey shuddered at the feeling of Beca retracting her fingers and she couldn't help the influx of tears that followed. Beca held her as she cried and despite the shame she felt, she allowed the brunette to hold her. She had committed the ultimate sin that she promised God—and herself that she'd never commit again.
"You shall not lie with womankind, as with mankind; It is an abomination."
She could hear her father's voice clearly as he quoted the bible, adjusting it for her sin. She could feel the belt coming down on her hands as he yelled at her that it was wrong. But for all the pain she knew their deed had caused, she knew it paled in comparison to what Beca made her feel.
Looking up at Beca who stroked her hair lightly to calm her, she stood at a crossroads. It was wrong and she knew she would be cast into the fire as a result but right now it didn't really matter because whilst she was going through hell and licking her wounds, she could always remind herself that she had once experienced heaven.
For anyone wondering what Beca's dress looked like just google "Anna Kendrick spirit awards 2013." I must say I am so proud of myself for managing to write this in a day but once I started I just couldn't stop. I actually really liked how this turned out as well. Usually I write until I'm tired, and once I finish I leave it for a few days and come back to make edits. This chapter is being posted as is except for a few grammar checks. What did you think of this chapter? I really hated writing last chapter and it probably had something to do with the fact that I knew this chapter was next. Jesse's been introduced and let's just say I made him a lot nicer than I originally planned. Someone asked was this story approaching the end since I mentioned a sequel and I can say yes and no. I've planned out this story completely like I do before I write just about anything, so I know it has 22 chapters. So unless I plan to combine chapters in the future (which I don't) this story has 10 more chapters left. I can also say there won't be any more filler chapters. Every chapter from this point forward has a major plot point within it so be on the lookout for those. Review as always because I absolutely love reviews.
