Alright, who's ready for chapter 19? I know I am. I can't believe how long I've been writing this fanfic. I feel a little embarrassed that it's taking me so long to finish it but good things come to those who wait.

Another apology for taking so long, I've had to start thinking of what to do with my future. So I decided on a master's program to pursue and have started preparing to enroll and hopefully be admitted.

Shoutout to my reviewers: Chocoholics Unite, FreckledFaceNerd , TheCollecter, HamstersRule194( several times), Guest, Wishmaster 17, MyNameIsMordecai, and the real Abril.

Oh, also forgive my types and errors. I wrote this in about 4 hours and really wanted to get it out to you guys. Plus, there is a mini fight scene in here that is not so good but I tried.

Disclaimer: I do not own Rise of the Guardians in any form.

Jack's POV

"And then Liam and Hal got into this big ass fight over the pot of gold. Pitch got mad and yelled at all of us to basically get lost. I'm pretty sure you can figure out the rest from there."

"And you're sure that Genie is ok?"

"She's perfectly fine. No broken or sprained anything. She's just keeping up this charade because those two lackeys almost caught us sending out the SOS. The last thing we need is Pitch finding out."

Abril sat up against the bars to my cell, her hands slipped past the bars to hold onto mine. Her thumbs moved along my fingers in a comforting manner, knowing how much I needed it.

It doesn't take long for news to travel around here. Mainly because Hal loves to come down here to taunt me about how 'happy' Pitch and Genie are together. Does he really think I'm stupid enough to believe that?

I had heard Genie cry out earlier, causing me to panic. I had charged at the bars, pounding on them and yelling for somebody to get down here to tell me what happened. Even Mother Nature and Groundhog joined me in the commotion.

It felt like forever until somebody showed up. Unlucky for me, it had to be Hal and Liam together. One is bad enough but two, it's almost unbearable. But they weren't acting like they normally did.

It was then they informed all of us that the Queen, aka Genie, had been injured at her outing. They then went on to say that if we wanted to keep our heads, we'd be wise to be quiet for the remaining of the night since Pitch wanted Genie to get plenty of rest.

Cupid then started to complain more about something but I had tuned her out. My mind started to think of different scenarios of how Genie could have hurt herself, each one was worse than the last.

I don't know when Liam and Hal left; but I do know when Abril finally showed up, I bombarded her with questions about what happened. It freaked me out with how calm she was, all she said was to take a seat and she'd tell me everything.

"Pitch is pretty pissed though. No doubt he's planning to come after me soon." Sensing that I'm calm now, Abril pulled her hands away so that she could stand up. She dusted off her dress before turning around to the side to begin pacing.

"I don't think he will. Genie and you have become good friends now."

"That's not going to stop him. I doubt even Genie would be able to change his mind at this time. To be truthfully Jack, for some time now, I've been feeling a lot of jealousy vibes from Pitch."

"What do you mean?"

"At first, Pitch was thrilled to see Genie so happy. She was smiling and laughing. For a long time, he thought he was the one causing all that. But I think it's clicked that it wasn't him, it was all me. She doesn't smile or laugh for him, but she'll smile and laugh for me. And I'm pretty sure for you too."

"I don't get what you're trying to tell me Abril."

"If I don't make it back Jack, just know that we called the others and left them the location. If we're lucky, they'll get here soon."

"And if we're not?"

"I'd rather not think about the bad stuff, never ends well." Her pacing in front of my cell ceased, she then began to walk up and down the corridor, looking into the cells.

"Uh…Abril."

"I'm not going to let him think I'll go down without a fight. No sir, that's not how Abril rolls. My papa always told me that just because I'm a girl don't mean I shouldn't know how to use my fists...aha!" She then reached into Cupid's cell and pulled out a long stick, similar looking to my staff.

"Or in this case, a stick."

"Excuse me, I was using that!" Cupid's high pitched voice shrieked out.

"And? Now I need it more. By the way, you're welcome." She started to walk away, her hands running along the staff to familiarize herself with the different angles.

"For what?"

"For pulling it out of your ass. Bada boom, thank you! I'll be here all week." She took mini bows as she passed the rest of the cells back to mine. I could hear several immortals laughing, several of them made bad attempts to keep it in.

"Leave it to the Spirit of April Fool's to bring everybody's moods up."

"It's my job, and it's one I greatly enjoy."

"Abril!" Her head snapped up towards the entrance of the corridor, I recognized that voice right way, it was Hal. "Pitch is looking for you. Let's go!"

"Be careful." I whispered to her.

"Come on, I'll be fine. Be back soon." She waved at me before walking off. "Just now sure it'll be in one piece." I'm not sure if she meant for me to hear that or not but I did. I continued to watch her back until she fully disappeared from my sight.

North, Bunny, Sandy, Tooth, we really could use you guys right now. Hurry up!

Genie's POV

"Please?"

"No."

"Pretty please?"

"No."

"Pretty please with whipped cream and a strawberry on top?"

"Are you trying to tempt me, my love? Because that does seem like a very fun activity. Now who would be covered in whipped cream: you, me, or the both of us?"

"Agh, no, not like that. Shit, never mind! Be that way!" I cried out in frustration while slamming my fists down onto the mattress, barely missing Pitch by a few inches. I then folded my arms across my chest, my eyes glaring up at the ceiling for a brief second before returning them to Pitch.

Now I am fully aware that I look like a child throwing this mini-tantrum, but there's a perfectly good reason for this.

Pitch will not let me turn over in bed!

He keeps insisting that because my ankle is still sore and sensitive that I need to stay fully on my back so that my leg can be properly elevated. If I were to turn, I would put un-needed pressure on it and it won't heal correctly.

Now normally he'd be right but there's just one problem with his logic, I'm not even hurt. But I have to keep acting this way in order for mine and Abril's plan to work.

Keeping up this act is beginning to be a real pain in my butt. Literally, my butt has fallen asleep and my back needs to crack in a few places.

Originally, Pitch had been laying a few inches away from me, scared that a simple brush against my skin would cause my suppose injury to worsen. But after an hour of me fidgeting around, he had opted for a different position. So now Pitch was sitting right up against my top half, his hip touching my shoulder. He was holding a book in one of his hands, while the other one was gently massaging the top of my scalp. If he felt me even budge, he would move his hand from my scalp to my shoulder in order to keep me down.

The bed had by now formed a small hole right where I was laying; the edges encased me in some makeshift cocoon. Even though there were no blankets on me, the cocoon still made it unbearable hot.

Oh, I forgot to mention, n all the commotion, Pitch and I forgot to remove my thick sweater and jeans to change into my normal sleepwear of a tank top and either thin pants or shorts.

So in summary, I was annoyed and hot. Not a good combination.

"I'm only teasing now, no need to pout; though it does make you look very alluring." Pitch quickly folded the corner of the page he finished before closing the book and placing it on the nightstand to his side.

"Your teasing is pissing me off more. I'm very tempted to use my good leg to kick you off the bed."

"Now now, no need to resort to violence." He adjusted himself on the bed to where he was now laying on his side, looking over me. The hand that was massaging my scalp was now supporting his head; the other hand was wrapped around my waist.

"Violence? Me? Psh, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. Look, Pitch, you want me to get rest, right?"

"Yes, which you're not doing."

"Because I'm not comfortable. How am I going to rest if I'm not comfortable? Please Pitch, I'm begging you. I'm feeling better now, let me move." If he thought my pouting was cute, he wouldn't be able to resist my puppy dog eyes also.

So against my better judgment, I gave my best puppy eyes and pout. He was really thinking now, his face was twitching. Probably having an inner battle going on.

"Fine. You can move on the condition that you turn towards me and let me hold you until you fall asleep."

Victory!

Lifting up my 'bad' leg, I pushed away the pillows with the other leg; and then turned to my right to where I was now facing Pitch. The hand that was already on my waist pulled me closer until I was up now up against his chest.

Both of us let out a sigh of content, although mine was due to no longer lying on my back. His was most likely due to me willingly being closer to him.

While I had thought that I was now going to be able to sleep, Pitch seemed to have other ideas. The hand on my waist started to creep lower until it reached my hip, where the end of my sweater was.

His cold hand slipped under the fabric, his fingertips drawing small circles along my lower back. It felt so refreshing to feel something cool against my warm skin; the gesture lead me to let out a small moan.

Pitch took that as a sign to continue this. The cool hand moved further up my back; bring my sweater up with it.

"You're so beautiful." Pitch whispered, his eyes shone bright in the dark room. They always got this way when he looked at me like that. I cast my eyes done, scared to look further into his eyes. His confession for yesterday rang loudly in my head.

Pitch did have an amazing ability to convey what he was feeling with only his eyes.

With his eyes alone, I could feel the emotion. The want. The love. The adoration. It was as if he was worshipping me.

"Don't look away from me, my love." His lips kissed my forehead, then both my cheeks before settling down to my lips.

He was never hesitant with his kisses, they practically oozed with confidence. They knew what they wanted, what they craved.

It was all me.

His lips moved with ease, his tongue slipping out to lick across my lower lip; pleading for entrance. The hand on my back was now on the claps of my bra. With a flick of his fingers, it was undone.

I gasped when I felt my bra straps fall from my shoulders. He took that opportunity to skip his tongue into my mouth. He moaned into my mouth, his tongue exploring every nook and cranny of my warm cavern.

With enough prodding and teasing, he soon had my tongue battling for dominance; he was doing a good job at bringing my horny side out. His hand moved from my back forward towards my breast. I was completely oblivion to it. Instead, all my focus was on the way that Pitch was making me feel.

He was making me feel so good.

It wasn't until he fully grasps my boob that I was knocked out of my stupor and noticed what I was doing.

What the hell?!

My mind screamed at me over and over again.

Placing both my hands against his chest, I pushed him away slightly; our lips separated with a soft pop.

"What is it? Is your ankle hurting? Damn, I shouldn't have done that but I couldn't help it." He pulled away from me, scooting away to climb off the bed.

"Sorry, It's just that I'm so tired and…"

"Don't apologize. It is I who is sorry. I was taking advantage of my injured Queen, which was not right." He walked away from the bed, towards the wall on the opposite side. Once there, the black sand pooled around him and up the wall, forming a portal to the outside.

"You sleep and get some rest. I'll be back to check on you in a few hours."

"Where are you going?"

"I suddenly remembered I have some unfinished business to take care of." I knew exactly what he was talking about.

"Don't you dare hurt Abril, Pitch."

"How did you know…It does not matter. I will not hurt her too much but she needs to be punished." So badly I wish I could run over to him and stop him; but that would ruin the whole plan. He would ask why I had been lying about a sprained ankle. Abril and I never got that far in this charade.

"If anybody should be punished, it should be Hal. He's the one that scared me and made me trip."

"Rest assured, my Queen, he will receive some form of punishment. But Abril is just as much to blame as anybody else, you were under her protection. Her supervision and she failed."

"No, please not her. She's my friend."

"I'm aware of that. Don't worry. Just get some sleep. Good night." It was said and done. Pitch stepped through his portal. It dissipated right after he was through, leaving me alone in this giant room.

Before I did anything else, I reached under my sweater to pull out my bra.

I wasn't able to sleep earlier because of how uncomfortable I was. Now, I won't be able to sleep because I'll be worrying too much about Abril.

"I'm sorry, please be ok."

That was all I could do and say.

Pitch's POV

Just like I told my Queen, I have some unfinished business to take care of. That business went by the name of Abril, the spirit of April Fool's Day.

Taking my sweet time, I strolled through my halls; replaying my make out session with Genie. It really was exhilarating to see her respond to me in such a way. If she wasn't injured, I would have taken it much further. I haven't been inside my love for so long now.

"Do you really have to do this Pitch?" Liam and Hal brought me out of my thoughts. They both stood on opposite sides of the door leading to my 'battle' room. Liam had been the one to ask me the question; he was fidgeting with the gold pocket watch, one of his most prized possessions.

When I started constructing my base for Genie and I, I had added that room with a certain group in mind: the Guardians. I had planned to battle them one by one in the room, in the hopes of ending their pathetic lives.

But it looks like I'll just have to break it in instead.

"You know as well as I do what happens when you fail at your assignment. You must be punished." This is the one time that Liam and I will have to put our friendship aside.

He knew what was about to happen, and he knew that he could not stop me.

"Now Liam, no matter what happens, whatever you hear, you will not open the door until I give the command, understand?"

Liam lowered his head to the floor, and nodded.

"Yes my King." On cue, Hal reached over to grab onto the handle of the door, pulling it open for me to enter. Once I was inside, he closed it; he made sure to lock it.

The circular room was nothing special: except the fact that I was pretty spacious. It resembled that of the old dungeons form the older time. Like my beloved Dark Ages. The walls were made of cobblestone, smalls chains hung from various hooks around the room.

But there were no doors or windows, like all my other rooms.

Across from me stood Abril, in what I would describe as a battle stance. Her legs were slightly apart, her body angled towards my direction. A wooden staff was in her hands; her arms slightly up at her chest. The tips of the staff had been sharpen to a fine point.

I was going to question where she had gotten the staff but decided that it did not matter. It would do no real damage.

"Do you know why I called you here, Abril?"

"Do you know how pissed off Genie is going to be once she finds out what you're about to do to me?" She retaliated.

"She already knows what I planned to do."

"Let me guess, you promised her that you wouldn't hurt me so badly in order to calm her down." I was slightly taken back at her remark; it was as if she was reading my mind.

"You are right."

"Newsflash: it won't work. Girls stick by each other, sisters before misters." I could feel my blood boiling with each word she spoke.

I had known how close that Genie and Abril had gotten over time. It was good at first but now it was annoying. She was taking away all of my attention.

"Then maybe I'll just have to lock you up like I've done with all the others."

"And make Genie hate you for life?" I've had enough of her talking. I got into my battle stance, my black sand spreading to fill the entire room. Without moving her head, Abril's eyes briefly scanned to the left and right of her, noting how my sand was even climbing up the walls.

"Genie will come to love me. She's already beginning to. Just before I came here, actually, we had a very hot make out session."

"Oh geez, you're like one of those losers that has to go brag to his buddies how he scored just to make himself feel manly. But I'll bite, do you feel manly now Pitch? Did you grow some balls?"

"ENOUGH!" Abril was the one to charge forward first, big mistake. She held the staff out, the tip aiming for my heart. I easily dodged her initial attack, jumping back against the wall and using my legs to launch myself over her.

Good thing she's short.

"Be a man and fight me Pitch." She spun around to face me once again, but I had caught her off guard. While he back had been turned, I took the opportunity to form a whip with my sand.

I flicked my whip out to wrap around the middle of her staff.

She faltered a bit, but not enough to where I could pull the staff away completely. We began a small scuffle of tug o war. I saw that she was just a few inches away from the walls of black sand. I just needed to push her back a little.

"Is this man enough for you?" I stopped pulling with my whip only to charge forward to smack against her. The force itself was enough to send her flying back, her hands loosing from the staff.

While she went backwards, I pulled back on my whip, successfully pulling the staff out of Abril's hands.

She smashed against the wall, the sand immediately wrapping around her wrist and ankles, keeping her in place.

"Looks like you lost your weapon, what now?" I threw the staff behind me, the sand on the floor engulfed around it. So even if she somehow got free, she won't be able to get back her little weapon.

"Dirty trick."

"Need I remind you that I am the Boogeyman, I'm all about dirty tricks."

She glared up at me, her teeth clenched together in anger.

"Now Abril, Spirit of April Fool's, you are hereby charged with failing your duty to the King and having the Queen injured under your watch. I'd ask how do you plead but I have no interest in your answer. You are hereby charged to a beating."

I had no more words for her. I formed fists with both my hands and fired off. Nowhere on her was safe, not even her face.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

One after the other, the room echoed with a mixture of her gasps and screams of pain.

"You will learn to never fail me again." I muttered between punches. I used Abril as my personal punching bag, letting out all of my anger and frustrations.

About 10 minutes later, Abril's yellow dressed was stained with her own blood. Her head hung down, her hair covering her face and eyes.

I stepped away, silently admiring my work. Once satisfied, I flicked my wrist and the sand let her fall onto her face.

"You'll be sleeping in here for the night." I informed her before turning back to the door in order to leave.

"Can I speak now?" She somehow managed to speak between coughs.

"If you can somehow manage." I stopped at the door and leaned back against it. "What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Nothing…for me…but…for Genie." She was somehow able to push herself up into a sitting position. Falling back against the wall for support, she took a few deep breaths before shaking her hair from her face.

Her face was covered in as much blood, cuts, and bruises; it matched the rest of her body perfectly. She even had a black eye that was somehow shut from the inflammation.

"Well, I'm waiting."

"A gentleman waits for a lady."

"Here, you're no lady."

"I will say this, you're right. I did fail at protecting genie, but not from the outside world. I failed at protecting Genie from you."

"What? From me? She has nothing to fear from me. She is safe with me."

"Is she? Your obsession is getting worse with each passing day. You're terrified of losing her so you put her behind walls."

"She is a human, easily wounded."

"But she is not made of glass."

"Compared to you and me, she practically is." I screamed out loud. "How do you now understand that? She is the most precious treasure to be found by an immortal, by me. Therefore, she must be kept safe."

"There's something wrong with you logic there, Pitch Black. You said so yourself, she's human. So let's think about this for a bit, let's say that you somehow win. The Guardians are dead, and you rule the world. Genie is the main source of your power. But she will age, until eventually, she will die. There goes the love of your life and your power. What will happen then?"

Just like that, she got me thinking. Images began to run through my head.

Genie, lying in the bed, no longer looking like the young girl with dark brown eyes and soft long hair. Her skin no longer soft and supple. In those images, she was covered wrinkles, her hair thin and grey, and her eyes dull in a cloudy glaze.

She had looked so frail.

No longer wishing to hear anything else, I smashed my fist against the hard door, breaking some of the skin on my knuckles.

"Open now!" I yelled. Hal wasted no time in obeying my order. The door practically flew open, the hinges sounded like they were close to breaking off. I didn't even bother taking one last look at Abril. I walked out the door and slammed it shut myself.

"My King?" Liam questioned me.

"I'll be in the Throne Room. Only bother me if it's really important, which means if it has to do with Genie. Nobody let Abril out!" I stormed off before Liam or Hal could talk any further. I needed to get my thoughts together.

Where Abril may have lost the actual battle, she won the mind war.

Abril's POV

Once Pitch left the room, my body physically collapsed further into the wall, making me slip down into onto my side on the floor. I hissed out loud from the pain that my floor caused me.

One of my eyes was now closed fully; the only had some blurry vision. But I was still able to assess the damage he did to me. My arms were covered in bruises and scraps, as were my legs and chest.

Just then, my lungs began to spasm uncontrollably as I began to cough up more and more blood. You would think once you became immortal, you would no longer be able cough up this much blood.

For the next few minute, I concentrated on my deep breathing. My lungs stopped spasms but now my stomach started, causing me to throw up whatever I had in there. After a few more minutes of hyperventilating, the coughing and the throwing up finally stopped.

"You Guardians are taking your sweet ass time getting here." I winced slightly from the sting the cut on my lip caused. "Now I do believe in being fashionably late but this is not the time."

After that talk with Pitch, I honestly have no idea how much longer Genie is going to be safe.

This is definitely a short chapter and for that, I apologize. The next chapter should be longer because you know who will be showing up and causing some awesome mayhem. Please leave a review on your way out, feel free to leave several.

I also apologize for my sucky 'battle' scene, if you can even call it that.

Love you guys!
