[AU] A dark shadow casted by the evil Sorcerer of Darkness has fallen over the Blue Sky Kingdom then spreads throughout the entire land. Also, he has stolen the Rainbow Crystal and taken it to his sinister castle. So, a young peasant girl named Hime Shirayuki is chosen to go on a quest to get the jewel back.

Welcome to my new story Once Upon a Princess, a fantasy themed Pretty Cure fanfiction that takes inspiration from the 1995 2D platformer Legend of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (Mickey Mouse: Legendary Kingdom / ミッキーマウス 伝説の王国).

I only own the story of this fanfiction. However, I don't own the Pretty Cure franchise, it currently belongs to TV Asahi / Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and Toei Animation Co, Ltd.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom in a far away magical land. This kingdom known as the Blue Sky Kingdom was ruled by a fair and very noble king, the people flourished and the kingdom was peaceful. But as time goes on, the king started to become very ill and then he suddenly passed away in his sleep, leaving the people without a ruler.

One day after the king's sudden death, an ominous dark shadow fell upon the kingdom and spread throughout the entire land, withering many crops and making people very unhappy..

This dark shadow was casted by none other than the evil Sorcerer of Darkness as he was jealous of the peaceful and carefree lifestyle that the people of the land were living. Using this as the perfect opportunity, the sorcerer and his forces stormed the Blue Sky Kingdom and stole its most prized treasure, the fabled wish granting Rainbow Crystal.

The prophecy says that only a young girl that is truly pure of heart can set off on a journey to take back the Rainbow Crystal which was taken somewhere up in the mountains by the sorcerer in order to free the land from the impending darkness and whoever retrieves the jewel then frees the kingdom from the darkness will become the new ruler of the kingdom. Many have tried, but none of the girls that offered to go weren't truly pure of heart. It seems that no one could be able to retrieve the jewel and it looks like that the kingdom and the entire land would be shrouded in eternal darkness forever.

At least, until one day...

In a small village near the Blue Sky Kingdom, there lives a young girl named Hime Shirayuki. Hard times were hitting the village after the dark shadow caused all of the crops to suddenly wither and also causes some of the villagers to suddenly become depressed. But thankfully, Hime was immune from the dark shadow's influence.
