Chapter 7
(A/N: Sorry for the very late update. Thanks Shannonjacob21, miyu. and Tomoyo for your reviews!)
What the hell I am doing?!
Her arm on his grip, Kanata could not find any reason for what he was up to. Truly, he could not believe himself. This girl, not a many years ago, yelled at him, hit him, and made him leave his own house for a night; and now, for a few days, what magic she did? Why he is getting so concerned about her feelings? Why on the earth he ran behind her ? Moreover, what was that voice in his mind? It was Santa, isn't it? Or was it his heart telling him to do it ?
Miyu looked at him confused, or with a little hope..
"I-I- I-" He got nervous; "Sorry..to.. but I thought..if it's for that day.. if I hurt you that day.. it's my last chance to say sorry.. I mean-I-" if Kanata found it to be idiotic, but that was only what he could come up to.
Miyu found that one sentence so relieving, he at least thinks about her! She wiped the tears, why the hell they are coming now?
Kanata stood, not sure what to do. Well, a girl crying in front of him, and his hands desperately wanting to comfort her, but his conscience stopping him. A very known, but forgotten smell was overwhelming his sensations.
"Hey! Stop it! Why on the earth are you crying?"
"Sorry.." She tried to wipe her tears again, God I just want to hug you. Nothing else. But an as an unknown I've no right to do so.
The Sun was already down. A dim light is all spread though the landscapes, birds are returning to their nests, and riding on their wings, darkness is coming to reign..
In the twilight, Miyu felt Kanata coming nearer to her.
"Let me lead you to the station." he said!
"Ha? Oh."
"When is your train?"
"5:30."
Kanata looked at his wristwatch, "And it's 5:37."
They both stood in silence.
"When is the next train.."
"No" she said, "I am not going to travel by night."
He looked at her, the face is not so clear in dusk. "Then let's go back."
"Yes.." she said, and suddenly remembered, "Do you have sessions tonight?"
"Hell I forgot! Yes! Anyway, I'll be glad not to attend them."
They started walking, side by side.
What would have Santa thought if he saw us this way?
With that thought, a smile crept in Kanata's face.
"What?"
"I was thinking if Santa-" Kanata stopped in the middle of line, "Uh. Nothing." he ended abruptly. But Miyu listened it. "Santa is such a good guy, just a bit weird taste of things.." she murmured to herself perhaps.
"How do you know him?" astonished, Kanata asked.
Miyu looked at him, "I happened to school with him for more than a year."
"year?" Kanata gasped, "You knew me?"
Miyu smiled earnestly. "I did know a Kanata Saionji."
Kanata felt hot air coming out of his ears. "What?"
The first time I got this chance. To tell him. Should I? Would he believe me now?
With a deep breath, she said, "Yes, I knew you Kanata. We were good friends I think."
Kanata was baffled. Friend, and her? That idiot girl? Yes, she is much changed now, I agree. Still.. what if she's lying? But, why would she lie? What if she wants just to come closer to me with that new trick? But..but..that scent, what about that familiar scent ?
Miyu was trying in vain to watch the changes in his complexion, but it was too dark everywhere.
"Good to know that, anyway. We are still friends." Kanata shrugged.
You said it? You take me as your friend?
Was I only a friend?
They reached Monk Kamachi's temple house. Kanata was about to bid a goodbye, when they heard the voice. Not so loud, but enough to hear from outside.
"I this does not work, Kamachi" Hosho's voice rose, "I'm going for the highest !"
"Hosho, calm down-"
"If Budhha wants, I'll go for sippuku-"
"Shut up! It's not for personal gain! It has to be selfless!"
"Whatever-"
Miyu did not understand, but she saw Kanata's face going white, and murmuring, "Baka! Full mad! "
"What happened?" She asked in a whisper.
"That dad of mine is playing with life!" he said, "He is planning a self sacrifice-"
"What!? That's insane!"
Kanata thrashed his fist onto his palm, "I have to do something about it!"
"Kanata listen-" Miyu said, "I've a plan."
"Huh?"
