EXECUTION

They say that before you die, your entire life flashes before your eyes. But that's bullshit. All you do is pull a stupid face and either flinch or freeze, trying to process what your seeing, trying to figure how to stay life. Thefact is it's too late. The lucky ones never really find this out. Their dead and that's it. It's just too quick to understand. Yet some people can see their death coming and cant do bugger all. I am one of those people.

Fucking lucky me.

I can see death coming towards me with her crooked smile and blood-stained fingers, her weapon, moving faster than the eye can see.

It moves of its own accord, slicing through flesh and bone, destroying its victims in seconds. As it turns it comes towards me, I cant avoid it even if i wasn't caught up in this shitfest.

My weapons, two kukhris lodged into two soft masses of dead flesh. And yet as I pull in desperation, I know it isn't enough.

Fate flashes before me like quick silver, following it is her hand, and then her face, flecked with blood.

Her eyes mesmerise you though, they are almost dead as the things around me.

Only that spark of hate, of blood lust that distinguishes her as human. (Funny how you notice these little things like a time like this.)

One second that mass of tempered steel is there, and then its gone, straight into the only thing it doesn't, shouldn't want to go… YOU.

As it runs me through, I gasp and fall to the floor, my weapons free but useless.

I slump back onto the wall, and though the dead surround me ,I turn my head to see my executioner, my final companion, to remember their face as the darkness comes.

My vision blurs yet I can see that her movements have stopped completely.

She stares at me like a lion eyeing its prey, the stare that says your fucked and you cant do anything thing about it.

I stare back and as my vision darkens I recognise the face and utter her name once more, 'Saeko'. I smile obliviously at this as I descend into the abyss.
