Pulling up to the emergency room, Callie got out and carried Sofia in, Arizona handed her keys to an intern allowing them to park it and she rushes into the Emergency room with Callie.
"Page Karev." Arizona demanded as she walked to the desk.
"Dr. Robbins, Dr. Karev is not on call, but I can page--." The nurse was quickly off by the blonde.
"When I tell you to page someone you page him now! 911." Arizona walked away and towards the bed Sofia was lying in.
"Calm down, okay honey. You're going to be okay." Arizona grabbed Sofia's hand, along with Callie's. "Hey while we are waiting for Dr. Karev, I'm going to put pressure on your stomach, Okay?" Arizona lifted up her daughter's shirt and gently pressed with a good amount of pressure on her left side, Sofia shook her head and looked at Arizona with a pleading eye. "I think it might be your appendix, which good news for you is an easy fix, but you know they are going to do scans just to be sure, okay?" Arizona squeezed Callie's hand tightly, and felt the brunette pull her in closer.
"Its going to be okay." Callie whispered into Arizona's ear.
"You know that we can't be in the OR with her, Callie." Arizona looked up at the Latina and sighed heavily.
"Robbins! You paged 911, I'm not even on call. What do you need?' Karev asked, walking towards the blonde. "Oh." Karev looked at Sofia and smiled then looked at the two girls.
"I think it's her appendix, but I want a ct ran." Arizona demanded, letting go of Callie's hands.
"Alright, Sofia, let's go." Alex smiled at her and pushed her bed away from the er and towards the elevator, Callie and Arizona followed, the brunette quickly grasped Arizona's hand and followed them. "You know you can't be in the operation room with me, Robbins." Karev said quietly, pushing the button for the floor.
"I know that Karev, I just want to see what is going on with my daughter." Arizona let go of Callie's hand once again and smiled at her daughter. They took Sofia to the catscanning room, Arizona and Callie helped Sofia to the other bed and laid her down and covered her up.
"Hey honey this is going to take a while so just be patient, Okay? There's a speaker in there and we will be able to hear you talk if you want to talk to us." Callie leaned down and kissed her daughter and Arizona did the same. They both walked to the booth and sat down in the chairs.
"Mommy." Sofia cried as the bed moved into the machine.
"Sof, hey. Stay still it's going to be okay, I'm right here and Mami is right here. We can see you." Arizona looked her daughter with sad eyes as she put her hands to the side of her body.
"Callie." Arizona whispered and looked away.
Callie immidetly turned her head to Arizona and sighed softly and placed her hand on the blondes thigh, resting it there.
For some reason Arizona found Callie's touch comforting, it put her at ease with everything. As the scans came up after about ten minutea all three of them leaned forward.
"Appendix, I'll take it out." Karev got up and Callie followed, leaving Arizona sitting there. She was thanking someone above that it wasn't anything more serious. But her nerves were going through the roof, her daughter was about to have a surgery and that terrified Arizona but she didn't want anyone to know because she knew it was silly of her to feel this way. But you never know what could happen in surgery. Being a surgeon, Arizona knew the risks. As she sat there while Callie put Sofia in a wheel chair, she thought about everything that can go wrong in that operating room.
"Arizona." Callie walked in the booth, Karev was taking Sofia to her room. "They said they can do it in a few minutes, are you ready?" The brunette pulled Arizona by her hand and looked into her blue eyes, they were filled with tears. That broke Callie's heart, seeing the woman she loves upset. And there was no way Callie could fix it. She pulled the blonde into her and wrapped her arms tightly around her waist and Arizona wrapped them around Callie's neck, they stood there hugging for who knows how long before they heard a throat clear.
"She is waiting for you guys." Karev walked away after saying that.
Callie and Arizona walked towards the room Sofia was in and they sat down on the opposite end of the bed and smiled.
"Its going to be okay, in an out within an hour." Arizona stood up and walked towards Sofia's head and kissed her head. "And mami and I will be waiting for you and we will be right here when you wake up." Arizona said softly, holding Sofia's small hand.
"Will it hurt?" Sofia asked, looking at both her mom's.
"Not at all, you'll have to a tiny scar." Callie chuckled and grabbed Sofia's other hand.
"Its ready." Karev walked in and looked at the two girls and then to Sofia. "Are you ready?" He asked, looking down at the Latina girl.
"Yes." Sofia replied and looked at Callie a d Arizona. "I love you." She muttered and closed her eyes.
"We love you." Callie walked along the side of the bed as they walked to the OR. Once they reached the doors, Callie and Arizona said their goodbyes and grabbed each other's hands and walked to the waiting room.
"I'm sorry for waking you up." Arizona muttered softly as she sat down in the chairs in the empty waiting room.
"Zona, it's okay. That's our daughter, and I was worried about you too." Callie ran her fingers up and down Arizona's arm, looking into her blue eyes. Callie knew was to calm her down, she just didn't want to overwheloverwhelm Arizona either sometimes she just needed space from reality. "She's going to be fine. Come on, I have somewhere we can go." Callie grabbed Arizona's hand and pulled her to her feet.
"Callie I can't do that.." She was cut off by the Latina quickly.
"Not that Arizona." Callie knew what she was implying and wanted to set the record straight. She got onto the elevator with the blonde and pulled her in close. "Come here." Callie leaned down and pressed a gently, but deep kiss on the blondes pink lips.
Arizona smiled slightly against Callie's lips and kissed her back, deepening it. Once the elevator doors opened, Callie pulled away and she pulled Arizona to the door that had number two on it and opened it, pulling her into the gallery.
"W-we aren't even allowed to be here." Arizona sat down beside the brunette and grabbed her hands tightly.
"No one has to know we are in here." Callie whispered into Arizona's ear and squeezed her hands as they watched Karev do their daughters surgery.
After the hour was done, they closed Sofia up, and brought her our, Callie and Arizona snuck out of the gallery and down to the peds floor and into Sofia's room, waiting for Karev to bring her in.
It was taking a while to bring their daughter back, and Callie began to worry, she was trying to not show it on her face, but clearly Arizona caught it.
"Callie. I'm a doctor and I know she something goes wrong because it takes a while to bring them back." The blonde stood up and as she did so a resident came in.
"Dr. Karev wanted me to inform you that something has happened and the surgery might be a little longer." The resident walked away and Arizona's face went pale, she quickly darted out of the room and to the elevator, Callie was quick to follow, not to stop Arizona but to figure out what was going on with their daughter.
"Karev talk!" Arizona demanded, walking over to her daughter, looking at what he was doing.
"Nothing, I just saw something and I just had to check. It was nothing, Okay? she's fine, now go, get out and wait. I'm going to bring her to you." Karev looked at the blonde and waited for her to walk out, Callie tried to grab her hand and Arizona pulled away and walked towards the elevator. Callie sighed heavily and followed. It was silent until Sofia was brought back to the room.
"The surgery went fine." Alex covered the little girl up and turned to face the two ladies. "She should be up within the next hour, but I recommend she stays here for the day and maybe tomorrow night then you can take her home on Sunday. I just want to make sure she's okay." Karev walked out of the room and left Callie and Arizona alone.
"Why do they want to keep her over night?" Callie looked at Arizona as she sat in one of the chairs that were in the room.
"Post op infections. He wants to monitor them closely." Arizona sat down next to the brunette and bit her lip. "Callie, do you want another baby?" Arizona asked, her chocolate eyes meeting Arizona's bright blue.
"Arizona, I don't think we should be adopting that baby. Not right now. Okay? We still need to work on us and figure out what we are doing here. We also need to work on us and get stronger. I would love to have another baby with you, eventually. And I know you have a deep care for that baby, but jumping right into it because you think I won't leave you if we have a baby isn't the best idea. I'm not leaving Arizona. I came back, and I'm here." Callie grabbed the blondes hands and smiled. "Maybe once we fix what needs to be fixed and we get settled in then we can talk about having a baby." Callie smiled and leaned in, gently kissing Arizona.
"Sorry to interrupt but I heard about Sofia and I wanted to make sure she was okay." Maggie smiled and stood at the door.
"Yeah, she's good, just her appendix." Arizona replied and looked over at Maggie.
"Awesome! I'm glad she's okay." Maggie walked away and left the two girls alone again.
"We should go on a date, maybe this time we can take Sofia with us. Midnight pancakes!" Callie chuckled and kissed Arizona again, catching the blonde off guard. "It feels so good to kiss you again. I just get this shiver up my spine and it feels so good." Callie chuckled and bit her lip.
"Me too, I love when you lightly bite my lip and then you pull away, it leaves me all hot and s-stuff." Arizona smiled at the brunette.
After what felt like hours but was really only an hour and half, Sofia started to wake up. Callie was asleep in the bed next to her and Arizona had pulled the chair up on the other side, she was waiting for Sofia to wake up.
"Mami." Sofia tapped on Callie and smiled when her mom did.
"Hi mija." Callie kissed the little girls temple and played with her hair. "How are you feeling?" The brunette asked, grabbing the water from the table beside her.
"I'm okay." Sofia replied and sat up slowly. Arizona helped her sit up and covered her up more.
"Good, good." Arizona handed the little girl the water and smiled.
They sat there for a while, and talked to Sofia about random things and her surgery. But the conversation ended when Arizona's pager went off.
"Oh no, I have to go. I'll come check on you in a little bit. I love you." Arizona kissed the little girls temple and then leaned over and kissed Callie's cheek and walked out.
"Do you have to work today too, Mami?" Sofia asked, looking at the Latina.
"I'm on call, and I have a surgery in a few hours but I will stay here until I have to go, Okay?" Callie smiled and sat Sofia up more and braided her long hair.
"Okay." Sofia leaned back and grabbed the remote.
"Do you want ice cream?" Callie asked, playing with Sofia's hair while her daughter found cartoons to watch.
"Yeah!" Sofia smiled and watched the cartoons.
"Wilson! Get Sof some ice cream." Callie got out of the bed and sat down in the chair next to the bed.
"What do we have?" Arizona grabbed the tablet and scrolled through the chart, looking at the patient.
"Daisy Mckneel, Thirty eight weeks, experiencing contractions, I have made her more comfortable she is about four centimeters dilated. Oh and her baby has a brain tumor." An intern explained and waited for Arizona to respond.
"Okay, get scans and we will go from there." Robbins handed the tablet back and walked back to her daughter's room, smiling at the sight of Callie and Sofia watching cartoons and eating ice cream. "Hey strangers." Arizona smiled and grabbed the chair and sat next to Callie, taking her ice cream and taking a bite.
"Hey." Callie chuckled and grabbed the spoon from Arizona's mouth and put ice cream on it and took a bite.
Arizona chuckled and started to watch the cartoons.
Callie heard her pager go off, she sighed and got up. "I'll come check on you in a little bit, Okay?" Callie kissed her daughter and then pecked Arizona's lips then walked out of the room and towards the attending lounge. She changed into her navy scrubs and put on her shoes, fixed her hair and then walked out of the lounge and to the elevator. She pushed pushed three and made her way to the Ortho floor.
"Hey, Sam!" Callie walked into the patients room and grabbed the tablet off the table. "So today we are going to go in and replace your knee." Callie scrolled through his chart and smiled. "What I'm going to be doing is putting a metal plate sort of say into your knee and then I'll screw it in, you should be up and out of here in no time." Callie lifted the sheet to exam the knee and nodded. "So they will get your prepped and I'll see you after!" Callie took the tablet and walked out of the patients room, handing the tablet to Joe. "Get him prepped and you can scrub in." Callie walked away and got in the elevator. She had about thirty minutes to check on Sofia and get food.
"Sofia, I have to go. I have a surgery, but Mami will be back shortly, Okay? I'll see you later. I love you." Arizona got up and walked out of the room, not paying attention she bumped into a person.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so so--. Lauren? What are you doing here?" Arizona got up, looking at the blonde. The blonde that she slept with when she was married to Callie. The blonde that made her think differently about her marriage.
"I'm here for a consult, and to deliver a baby." Lauren rolled her eyes and started walking, Arizona noticed she was headed towards her patients room. "No." Arizona muttered, she was now unsure.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Callie asked, wrapping her arm around Arizona's waist. She jumped and turned to Callie.
"Callie, L-lauren is here." Arizona let the tears fall, she didn't know why she was crying, but this was going to push old feelings to come back and that terrified the blonde. "And she is on my case." Arizona added, biting the inside of her cheek.
"W-What?" Callie heard what she said but she couldn't believe it, not yet anyways.
"I just have to take the baby out and then I'll be done except for monitoring." Arizona looked at the Latina and leaned in, kissing her softly. "I promise I'll be in and out, Okay?" Arizona needed Callie to trust her.
"Alright, Arizona I'm trusting you." Callie walked into Sofia's room, and Arizona gathered herself and walked to her patients room.
"We need to take the baby out, okay Daisy." Lauren explained, putting the bed rails up.
"I'll take the baby out then you take the baby to Sheppard and I'll get her closed up." Arizona demanded, grabbing the bed rails and pushing the bed to the elevator.
Once they were scrubbed in, and the baby was delivered, Lauren took the baby to Sheppard OR and then walked back to the OR. "I figured you could use some help." Lauren shrugged and stood on the other side, grabbing the tools needed to help Arizona close the patient.
"I didn't need your help, I can do everything by myself." Arizona sighed and continued to do her work.
"So you and Callie? How is That?" Lauren asked, looking at Arizona.
"We are fine. Not that it's ant of tour business." Arizona snapped, she didn't even bother to look Lauren in the eyes.
"Fiesty aren't we?" Lauren chuckled and finished closing the patient.
"Now you can take the patient back to her room. I have a daughter and my wife to get back to." Arizona never told Lauren that they were divorced it wasn't ant of her business.
"You know you still look breathe taking, Arizona." Lauren added, taking her gloves off and walking got he scrub room with the blonde.
"Stop, Lauren." Arizona said, anger filled on her voice as she scrubbed out and leaving the room.
"I have to go, I love you." Callie kissed Sofia and smiled at her then walked towards the elevator. She got on, as everyone got off, leaving her and Arizona. "Sof, just ate." Callie muttered, she was being distant now. It was a natural habit.
Arizona sighed deeply and pushed Callie against the side of the elevator and kissed her, this time it was aggressive. She bit Callie's bottom lip and pulled, her hands roaming down to the brunettes ass, grabbing it. Callie let out a moan and kissed the blonde, running her hand up her side and to the back of her head, grabbing a fist full of hair and pulling her head back, breaking the kiss, Callie kissed down her neck and back up. Arizona let out a loud moan and tilted her head back up, looking at Callie.
"Now all you'll be thinking about is me and my lips on you." Callie whispered and got off the elevator. She was hot and bothered now thanks to a certain blonde.
Arizona bit her lip and leaned back against the wall, running her fingers along the bottom lip, smiling.
Callie made her way to the OR and scrubbed in, then began to work.
Arizona sat with Sofia, and intern came in and out checking Sofia's insicion. Arizona bought her pizza for dinner, and laid in bed with her. Callie's surgery was finally done after eight hours, she returned to her daughter's room and found Sofia curled up to Arizona asleep, and Arizona asleep, holding their daughter. It was picture perfect moment. Callie bit her bottom lip and walked to the side of Arizona, gently playing with her hair. The blonde sighed lightly and looked over at Callie.
"Hi." Arizona muttered.
"Come with me." Callie whispered and waited for Arizona to slide of bed. She grabbed Callie's hand and they walked to the cafeteria.
"Callie I already ate. I tried saving you some." Arizona was cut off when Callie looked at her. "What are you up to?" Arizona chuckled and saw a candle lit table, two wine glasses and a plate of Spaghetti.
"Our second date, no money spent, just some time and effort." Callie pulled Arizona's chair out and then sat down beside her, pouring them both some wine. "Sofia will be fine for an hour. I just want to enjoy some time with you." Callie rested her hand on the girls thigh, taking small bites of her food.
"I love it." Arizona smiled big and kissed Callie's cheek, eating small bites. "How did your surgery go?" The blonde asked, continuing to eat the spaghetti.
"Oh! It went really well. I got the knee perfect and I am expecting full mobility by the end if the month." Callie took a sip of her wine and watched Arizona, smiling widely.
They enjoyed their dinner and wine and talked about Callie's surgery and the babybaby that Arizona delivered. Once they were done they cleaned everything up, blew the candles out. Callie grabbed Arizona and kissed her softly.
"When Sofia comes home, you should start thinking about staying the night." Arizona smiled, wrapping her arms around Callie's neck.
"Alright." Callie chuckled and put her hands on the girls waste.
"Good. Now we should get back to our daughter." Arizona led Callie through the hospital and to their daughters room where they fell sound asleep. Arizona was in the bed and Callie was in the chair, her feet resting on the bed.
The next morning:
"Callie." Arizona whispered into the Latinas ear. "Hey, Cal, let's go home." Arizona chuckled when she moaned in her sleep. The blonde leaned in and kissed Callie's lips, they were in a pouting form.
"Mmm, I haven't woken up like that in a long time." Callie chuckled against Arizona's lips and kissed her again.
"They are discharging Sofia, I already signed the papers." Arizona pulled away and helped Callie up, and fixing her scrubs. "Go get changed and I'll meet you downstairs." Arizona giggled and helped Sofia off the bed. Callie smiled and walked away to the attending lounge. She changed and quickly walked down the stairs.
"Arizona, can we talk?" Lauren was behind the blonde who had her daughter in the wheel chair.
"No, I am busy." Arizona stood there, looking for Callie.
"Seriously? You have been avoiding me. Do you still like me? Is that why you get nervous around me." Lauren chuckled and ran her finger up Arizona's back.
"Back off! No I don't have feelings for you and yes I have been avoiding you because I don't want to see your face! I don't want to see you. I'm sorry if you think I have some lingering feelings for you. I don't! you were nothing but a screw for me. So back the hell off." Arizona snapped, Callie was standing right there.
"You heard her, back off." Callie grabbed the wheel chair and pushed it towards the doors to exit, not waiting to see if Arizona was still yelling at Lauren.
"I have to go." Arizona ran after Callie, and unlocked the car. Callie helped Sofia into the car and then got in the back seat. Arizona frowned when she noticed Callie didn't climb in front, so brushing it off she started the car and drove away.
"When we get home you can watch cartoons and I'll make you some pancakes." Callie whispered into Sofia's ear, holding her hand.
Arizona pulled up to her driveway and turned the car off. Callie helped Sofia out and into the house. She laid the little girl down, covered her up and turned cartoons on. Arizona was quick to follow Callie into the kitchen, handing her the stuff she needed to make pancakes.
"Talk to me." Arizona said softly, pouring in the water, and then the pancake mix.
"I am tired of seeing your girlfriends faces Arizona." Callie shook her head and turned the stove on.
"I'm Sorry!" Arizona snapped and walked out of the kitchen. Callie sighed and poured the mix into the pan and waited for it to bubble then flipped the pancakes. Arizona in the mean time sat in the chair in the living room and watched cartoons with her daughter.
Once the pancakes were done, Callie made a plate for Sofia and Arizona and handed it to both of them, she helped Sofia sit up and put the plate in her lap and sat on the couch. Arizona sighed and got up, sitting down besides Callie and cutting her pancakes.
"Eat." She whispered.
Callie rolled her eyes and took a bite of the pancake Arizona just cut, then another bite. Arizona chuckled and put her legs on Callie's and ate her pancakes, Sofia did the same.
Callie cleaned up the dishes and put everything away. When she walked back into the kitchen, Sofia was asleep.
"Come with me." Callie whispered, then went and locked the front door.
"Where is your bedroom." Callie asked, walking along the narrow hallway.
"Left, last room down the hall." Arizona smiled and followed Callie inside, leaving the door open. Callie laid down, pulling Arizona with her. The blonde wrapped her arms around Callie and pulled her in close, their legs tangled under the covers.
"I'm sorry about earlier I didn't mean to snap." The Latina ran her fingers along the blondes hips, looking into her blue eyes.
"It's okay, I wasn't expecting Lauren to come back Callie, but all I want is you. I don't care about her." Arizona whispered.
"I know, I know. I just get so jealous even though I don't have the right to be." Callie sighed. They heard little foot steps aloma long the hallway and they looked up.
"I want to sleep with you." Sofia climbed up the bed and laid down beside Callie. The Latina turned away from Arizona, pulling the blondes hand to her stomach as they laid there. Arizona moved in close to Callie and smiled, kissing the back of her neck lovingly, then slowly faded into a sleep.
AU: So I know you guys don't want them to adopt the baby so I decided to not let them. I try to update as much as I can. I hope you guys liked this chapter, it was more laid back and focused on Arizona and Callie. I am also trying to bring in more drama, but I also love the happy couple and the family. Let me know what you guys want to read. More drama? or happy. Smut is coming soon, that's why this is rated M.
