Disclaimer: I completely plagiarised R U Mine? By the Arctic Monkeys and pretended that FP wrote it.

Monday came and the town still wasn't over the Bulldog victory. FP was well over it, sick of it in fact. Everywhere he went people were sucking up to him and trying to make conversation about irrelevant things. It bored him.

He had decided to get to school early so he could avoid unwanted small talk.

He parked his bike in its regular spot. He walked speedily towards the door in case anyone tried to stop him. He almost made it too, before Fred blindsided him.

"Dude! Guess what?" Fred was practically jumping up and down with barely contained excitement.

FP held back his laughter "what Fred? What's happening?"

"I got us a gig at Pop's! The Fred-Heads are making their way in the world!"

"Please don't refer to our band in the third person."

Fred ignored him and began pulling flyers out of his bag. He shoved around 50 into FP's hands.

"I need you to stick these up EVERYWHERE pronto. In the classrooms, in the staffroom, even in the girl's bathroom."

"And where, pray tell, will you be distributing yours?"

Fred smirked "Hermione and me are ditching to hang some around town."

"Hey that's not fair! Why do I get the boring job?"

"Because I'm smarter than you and superior in every way."

"Well damn I can't argue with that logic."

Fred laughed and started running out the door again, bumping into everyone on his way. He apologised to them and promptly handed them a flyer as a peace offering. What an idiot.

He started sticking up flyers on the notice boards, got bored after a few, and told a freshman to do it. The freshman almost passed out.

FP walked to class slowly, he was still 10 minutes early and he didn't want to be seen sitting in the classroom on his own like a loner. Mind you he didn't want to be seen at all.

He wandered into the library and started looking at the books in the American History section. He had a paper due the next day and he didn't know which president he was going to write about. Or if he was going to write it at all.

"Well I'll be damned- FP Jones in a library."

FP smirked and turned to face Alice Smith, who had her hair in a high ponytail. FP told himself not to stare at her neck.

"I was just doing some light reading." He gestured with the 1,000 page book on George Washington.

"You couldn't possibly be thinking of doing your homework for once, could you?"

"And give Mr. Murphy all that extra work to correct? I may be a lot of things Alice but I'm not cruel."

"No you just force freshmen into slave labour."

"That little guy was practically begging to help me."

"Mhm sure. What's all this I'm hearing about a gig on Friday anyway? Is it a joke or something?"

FP put a hand over his heart and feigned being in pain.

"Ouch, you're not a fan then?"

"The last time I heard you guys play Fred sounded like a sweaty octopus trying to unhook a bra."

"What the hell does that sound like?"

"I don't know but he sounded like it."

"That's beside the point, Fred isn't allowed to sing anymore."

"Who's singing now? Matt?"

"Nope."

"Josh?"

"Nope."

"Oh my God, you're hardly singing. FP people actually respect you around here, do you really want to lose that?"

"You haven't even heard me sing, how do you know I'm bad?"

"I don't, I'm just going to have to see you lose all your dignity singing Fred's angsty love songs."

FP laughed "We have new songs that Freddie didn't write, don't worry."

"Are they any good?"

"Well I don't know we've only rehearsed them a few times."

The bell rang, signifying that the pair had to go to Calculus.

Alice had started walking away when she turned to him and smirked "Are any of the songs about me?"

"Yeah it's called 'Bitchy Snake.'"

"You better be lying or else I'm going to impale you."

FP tapped his nose and walked away. One of the songs were about her, but she didn't need to know that. He thought about some of the lyrics. Yeah, she definitely didn't need to know that.

Fred arrived at Pop's an hour early to unload the Shaggin Wagon and to set everything up. FP was supposed to meet him but he was late as per usual.

Hermione was late too and Fred wondered if he was the only punctual person in Riverdale.

He had almost everything set up when FP burst through the main entrance looking flushed.

"I'm sorry dude, I was on my way here but I had to do a job for my dad."

Fred tensed. He hated that FP was with the Serpents, he didn't belong there. He was always doing 'jobs' that could easily get him arrested.

"Well your first commitment has to be to the band, FP."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry."

"Well, you can set up the microphones now since that's the only thing that's left to do."

"You aren't getting over this anytime soon are you?"

"I may have forgiven you next week, we'll see."

FP grinned and went to set up the gear. Fred smiled, but it quickly died on his lips. He worried about FP too much, he knew that.

He was a big boy who was allowed to make his own decisions, but Fred knew that deep down FP didn't really want to be with the serpents. He was only with them out of a sense of duty, nothing else.

Well, of course, there was the fact that Alice was also a serpent.

The diner was packed with people, there was barely room to breathe. Alice and Hermione were standing a few rows from the front, they had arrived too late to get to the front row, but they still had a good view.

Hermione was trying to tell Alice something but she couldn't hear her due to the ever growing crowd.

"What?!"

Hermione shouted in her ear.

"I heard a rumour that the last song they're going to sing is about you!"

"Where'd you hear that?!"

"Where do you think?"

Fred. Of course Fred had told Hermione.

"Did he say if it was good or bad?"

Hermione didn't have time to answer because the lights went out and the spotlight shone towards the stage.

The crowd started screaming and shouting like wild geese. Alice and Hermione were the loudest.

Fred spoke into the microphone once the noise had died down.

"Hello Riverdale, we are the Fredheads!"

Cue the screaming again.

"We are going to be playing four songs for you this evening, written by our own FP Jones."

The noise of the crowd seemed to double when they heard this information.

FP went red and looked down at his feet. Alice couldn't help but wonder if he was going to have the confidence to sing in front of this giant crowd.

As it turned out, he had a lot of confidence. Once he started playing the first few chords on his guitar he was in the zone.

Alice was shocked at how good his singing voice was and she thought for about the third time that day how life wasn't fair. Sure it would be okay if FP had one talent, maybe two. But being able to sing, play guitar and play football? Not to mention that he wasn't bad to look at either. She hated him sometimes for how easy things came to him.

The first three songs were really good, fast tempo with nice lyrics. But Alice hadn't really been paying attention, she was waiting in anticipation for their final song.

It hadn't been what she was expecting at all.

The third song ended and Alice could tell that FP was scanning the crowd, looking for her. When he made eye contact he looked away again and started talking into the microphone.

"Our final song is called 'R U Mine?'"

The crowd screamed, jumped and clapped.

FP strummed away at his electric and finally started to sing:

"I'm a puppet on a string

Tracy island, time-traveling diamond

Could a shaped heartaches

Come to find ya fall in some velvet morning

Years too late

She's a silver lining lone ranger riding

Through an open space

In my mind when she's not right there beside me

I go crazy 'cause here isn't where I wanna be

And satisfaction feels like a distant memory

And I can't help myself

All I wanna hear her say is are you mine?

Are you mine?

Are you mine?

Are you mine?"

Hermione looked over at Alice and she could tell that she was speechless. This song was obviously about how that poor boy was in love with her. Hermione said a silent prayer that things would work out for them.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is I need the deep end

Keep imagining meeting, wished away entire lifetimes

Unfair we're not somewhere misbehaving for days

Great escape lost track of time and space

She's a silver lining climbing on my desire

And I go crazy 'cause here isn't where I wanna be

And satisfaction feels like a distant memory

And I can't help myself

All I wanna hear her say is are you mine?

Are you mine?

Are you mine?

Are you mine?

And the thrill of the chase moves in mysterious ways

So in case I'm mistaken

I just wanna hear you say you got me baby

Are you mine?

She's a silver lining lone ranger riding through an open space

In my mind when she's not right there beside me

And I go crazy cause here isn't where I wanna be

And satisfaction feels like a distant memory

And I can't help myself

All I wanna hear her say is are you mine?"

The crowd went insane. Some girls were crying, others were clawing their way to the front row. Alice was just in shock, she couldn't move. FP tried to find her in the crowd but couldn't make her out.

Their set had ended so they left the stage, sweaty and wrecked tired.

Fred spun around to him once they had exited Pop's

"Dude, that was insane! They frickin loved us!"

Josh came over to them grinning from ear to ear.

"Some chick just threw her bra at me, this is amazing!"

FP smiled, but all he wanted to do was find Alice. It wouldn't have been difficult to figure out that the song was about her, and she wasn't stupid.

"I have to go now, I said I'd meet Alice afterwards."

Fred looked crestfallen "Dude, come on. We need to celebrate!"

FP apologised but said that he really had to go.

As he was walking away he heard Josh mutter to Fred

"It's Alice bro, what did you expect?"

FP tried to let that comment go over his head. But as he was walking home it was all he could think about.

Did he really always put Alice first? Was he that whipped? Did everyone know that he was in love with her? Did she know?

He opened the door to his trailer to find Alice sitting on his couch, looking very worried. He hoped she wasn't going to call him out on the song.

"Hey, I thought we weren't meeting until later."

Alice stood up, gripped the back of his neck and pulled his lips to hers.

FP was in shock at first, but quickly got with the programme. He put his hands on her waist and tried to pull her closer to him, but it was impossible. If they moved closer they would morph into one.

They had both been thinking about this for a while so their kisses were hot and desperate, full of passion and want.

FP started taking off his jacket and, never breaking the kiss, backed Alice against the wall. Alice jumped up and put her legs on either side of him, running her hands through his hair.

When he moved away from her lips he was met with a loud groan of annoyance which made him smile. He moved to her neck, trailing kisses all the way down to the top of her chest.

He was just about to remove it when he heard a knock on the door. He ignored it and kept undoing her buttons. The next knock was louder and more urgent.

Alice spoke in a matter of fact tone

"Maybe you should get that?"

"No, they'll go away if we ignore them."

That statement was followed by a louder knock.

"You've got to be kidding me."

FP set Alice down gently and went to murder whoever it was that had been knocking.

He opened the door to a small bald man with glasses.

"Hello sir, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ?"

FP looked like he was going to leap out and choke him by the neck.

"Not to be rude, but I really, really don't."

He slammed the door in his face.

FP and Alice looked at each other for a moment before they burst into laughter. They didn't stop laughing for a good five minutes and by then the moment had passed. Alice told him that she had to meet Hermione to do a project.

When he said goodbye to her at the door she turned back and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. He was still smiling like an idiot an hour later.
