Shichibukai's Floating About

The explanation of the D. in his name always baffled Mikoto. The rumors of it being passed down through bloodlines had been one that traveled far and was true in most cases. Everybody had been aware of Ds before and most of them had such a family lineage that scared people, but Mikoto's father was not a D. Just a run-of-the-mill pirate.

His father, Michael, was someone who had no great blood line ties to someone like his own father. Nonetheless Michael often spoke of greater men, real Ds and stated that Ds were just a powerful force that could inhabit any human being with great willpower and strength. The title of D. had been passed onto Mikoto, not because of blood, but because of hope. Michael had hoped the faithful lineage of D could be passed on.

The world needed a D.

While the arguments were probably many, Mikoto liked to believe that he was indeed the great being that deserved the title, someone who showcased the title's strength. There were possibly a bit of trouble and worry because of his actions, but he didn't disagree with the fact that he wanted to pick up the title and run with it. He wanted to do his father proud.

And if living as a D would do that he would. Michael's was a pirate besmirched by faith despite his many efforts of doing right by his loved ones, there were only three things Michael had passed down onto his son. The first was the lineage of the worst pirate in history, someone who fled from the New World and then died in the peace-loving East Blue. The second was this one simple letter, a hope for Mikoto to accomplish great things, things that Michael, himself, had failed at.

The last was the black book, which Mikoto was now absent mindedly thumbing at again. He had forgotten about it. It had helped him greatly with the skills of After-Image and Rapid Fire, not to mention even a bit of Haki and Geppou, but he wasn't thumbing at it now cause of what it taught him, but because of what it meant.

There wasn't much Mikoto could accurately recall about his father any more. He was a good man, but the rumors, childish aspirations, and the actual truth were all muddled together in his mind. This book written in his father's words, borrowing from his father's life was the last thing Mikoto could actually glimpse from the past, the bit of his father's true character Mikoto could actually grasp at.

For the time being Mikoto had gone quiet, Monsuta looked at his friend and sensed a bit of a sensitive question had formed in his head. Monsuta took a deep breath and smiled. "I think the title of D. fits you perfectly. The enemy of God, a human that no matter what the odds will always charge forward and into the great unknown! Whether the title of D is actually from your blood or not, doesn't matter. You truly embody the feeling."

There was no swift response from Mikoto as he took in Monsuta's feel-good words. He really did appreciate such kind words at this moment. He supposed he could've been left with a father like Ridley's, the infamous Karasu Blackwell. Nonetheless the very little information Mikoto had about his own father was rather depressing to say the least.

It was a sad idea, but Mikoto would live with it and he would uphold this title of D to the best of his ability. It was one of the few things his father had given him and it would definitely be one of the things he would follow to the best of his ability. "You're right Monsuta," Mikoto stated solemnly as he took a deep breath.

"So, you're here to become King of the Pirates?" asked Monsuta twisting his head to the side and skipping on to the nest subject, which Mikoto didn't really blame him for, "I suppose it makes sense knowing you."

"The war between pirates and Revolutionaries is going to break out and pirates are either going to get up in the middle of it or we make them know we are going to end it," Mikoto stated with confidence. "Both Revolutionaries and Marines hate pirates so the only thing we need to do is take their attention off of each other and possibly weaken them both a bit."

"And you're the best bet we have?" joked Monsuta with a big smile on his face. "I can definitely agree with you on that and when it comes down to it, I'll have your back. Even before I have Victoria's. I mean, in this case I'm going to stay out of it as that's just my belief. You got yourself into this mess without the knowledge of my help, so I'm going to assume you are going to get yourself out of this mess." There was a quite chuckle of enjoyment from Mikoto, he slowly nodded.

"Well, then if you will excuse me," Mikoto stated with his usual charm and bluntness, "I have got to go find some people to beat up." His usual strength of speed and his instincts helped him find people easily. The eerie quietness was constantly broken with the sound of breathing, the scents of people were always around him, their thoughts intruded on his own.

He had locked on his opponent already. With his speed he raced up to them, taking plenty of steps quickly. He bolted through the ground. His attention quickly locked onto his opponent. Mikoto's speed was like lightning springing into the air, rocketing off of the ground and against one of the walls. Right before rebounding off of one and blasting down towards his target.

Who was every bit as quick. A quick recoiling movement, made his opponent pretty much disappear before his eyes. She wasn't as fast as Mikoto, but her reflexes were something to commend even for Mikoto. Mikoto landed right next to his opponent and stood up, taking in his opponent.

He had recalled her face pretty quickly. It was the first time he had seen it. She was one of the few people whose name and face anybody knew. She was one of the seven Shichibukai, a very powerful being who should not be looked down upon. And someone who was currently on the payroll of the Marines, who wanted Mikoto dead.

Lucky Lin. Her name was well known, she was a powerful woman pirate who had made a lot of trouble, both for the Marines and then once she was on their side for the pirates. A truly disastrous character who should not be meddled with without care. Mikoto now took a slight step backwards. She was definitely not someone he wished he had run into right off the back. It would've been better had this happened later on. Perhaps after she had lost an arm or two fighting.

"Shishishi!" laughed the woman as she eyed up Mikoto she stepped forward, stomping her foot down and opening her arms wide. Mikoto was definitely off-put as he saw a flash of electricity jump between her arms. He was a bit worried about what could possibly cause that, but he knew ultimately it didn't matter. It only mattered that she could do it.

"You definitely seem like a true challenge," she chuckled to herself, "almost a shame we have to waste a good fight like this in a tournament."

Mikoto quickly weighed his option. He could probably escape her in an instant. He was faster than her, that much he knew for sure. Not to mention with the number of enemies on this mountain he could probably lead her to an ambush or just cause a bit of trouble for her, but there was no guarantee he would be able to avoid all of them too.

There was a small amount of silence creeping over Mikoto's body as he took a slight step forward and saw Lin react as well. Another small burst of static electricity echoed from her hands causing Mikoto to quickly reel backwards.

Between the fact that she isn't attempting to instigate a fight as well as the fact that she kept chuckling throughout everything. Mikoto supposed it also was possible that she didn't want to fight him either. Most people did know of him as a troublesome opponent, maybe she thought of this as more of a game rather than a real challenge.

Mikoto was eager to prove her a bit wrong. He began a rapid shifting of his weight to try and check her own defenses, but once more she didn't seem all too eager to keep up with him instead. While she did seem to try and keep up with her own weight shifting and bobbing and weaving to the sides, but the odd thing was she didn't seem too particularly engaging herself. She seemed to want to fight, but she wasn't instigating the fight any more than Mikoto was.

"Do you really want to fight?" asked Mikoto as he dropped his guard slightly.

"Okay!" she shouted, "I didn't eat a whole lot today so I'm not in a fighting mood." She chuckled loudly as she swiftly turned around, apparently thinking nothing of it to turn her back to Mikoto. Then again it was also fairly obvious she didn't think Mikoto was a threat.

"Just so you know," she stated as she continued down the cliff side as she lifted her arms up, crossing them and placing them behind her head. "I'm not the dangerous one, the one you really should look out for is Ravenbone. In all honesty unless he for some reason fails to exterminate you, I don't really care to get involved. And even then, eh, I don't really particularly want to help the Marines any more than I already have."

"But you're a Shichibukai?" asked Mikoto, such an odd thing he had just heard. She had joined up with the Marines for a reason. Mikoto couldn't imagine they would join up with the Marines because they hated them. It didn't make any real sense. "Aren't all Shichibukai on the side of the Marines?"

"Nothing is ever so one-dimensional," she explained, "We all have our ulterior motives. Mine just involved me becoming a Shichibukai, so, of course, I joined up with them cause it would give me a great amount of power for taking control of things, namely my life and my crew's life. Rather than trying to bend knee to these guys whenever we meet and trying to fight my way out of it, I figured if these guys are really this strong, they'll help me in taking themselves down."

"I guess so," Mikoto muttered, "but what about-?" Mikoto was about to say something else, but as he turned around he had already met that she had left, quicker than even he would believe would've been possible. Mikoto dashed forward and looked out onto the ground.

It really caught Mikoto's eye that she wasn't anywhere near. She was quick. Mikoto would give her that, she is an incredibly talented person Mikoto couldn't deny that and now he was more than a little bit worried about the upcoming fights. Both Ravenbone and Lin. He was really beginning to worry about the fact that he might not be able to make it here. There were a bunch of deadly foes gathering here.

However, Mikoto couldn't have those people hold him back. He would've had to take them down eventually anyways. Mikoto took a deep breath and let himself cool down real quick.
