Booth watched the fear in his daughter's eyes, and leaned forward to kiss her forehead. "Do you remember what happened, sweetheart?" he asked softly, not wanting to cause her any stress. She nodded somberly. The nurse finished looking her over and excused herself, and JV settled in the chair beside the bed.

"Booth, we don't want to stress her out." Temperance said softly.

"It's okay, mom. I feel a little… a little clearer now." She said softly. She looked around between her mother and father. "Why isn't Shane here?"

"I told him I didn't want him in here." Booth said curtly, with no explanation.

"Daddy, I know you don't like him, but he's my partner. He's my boyfriend. I love him." She said sincerely, squeezing her father's hand, she could see a shadow of something in his eyes that confused her, and she was unsure of its meaning. She watched Booth close his eyes and turn his head from her, causing her to tug at his hand. "Dad, I need you to find Seeley."

"He was in the car?"

"He was." She nodded. "We pulled up behind them, the tag they had was expired, and it was late, so a routine stop." She said softly, looking to her mother and her father. "Shane told me that I could take it, that he'd back me up. When I got up to the car, there were four men, all mid to late twenties. The car smelled awful, and I'm pretty sure they were high and drunk." She took a moment, letting herself take a slow deep breath, she tried to remember. "As I approached, the back window opened, and Seeley spoke up, calling me by name. Told me that they were sorry, that I should just go. He looked scared, like he didn't want to be there, but was pulled into it or something. I was about to ask a question when he swung the door open and hit me with it, knocking me to the ground." She paused. "Maybe he was just trying to give them time to take off, but the next thing I knew, the driver had a gun pointed at me, and it was too late. He took his shot, and they took off. I was in and out of it until I got to the hospital, and the last thing I remember was Jack at the hospital, telling me to stay awake." She looked to JV, who was staring at his hands. She looked back up at Booth. "Why don't you want Shane in here? It wasn't his fault that I was shot, Daddy."

Booth ignored her question, turning around, he started to pace a little. He caught his wife's eye and sighed. "We haven't seen Jared in what has it been, Bones…?"

"Five years or so." She shrugged.

"I guess it's time for a family reunion." He said. With that, he turned on his heel, and stalked from the ICU room, cell phone in hand.

"Mom?" Grace whispered, concern lining her face, her blue eyes sparkling with fear.

"He'll find him, sweetie. You know he will." She whispered.

The dark clouds had finally moved in, darkening the sky tremendously as large fluffy flakes fell from the sky. The wind was picking up, sending the temperature down about ten degrees.

The scene was packed up nicely, the coroner van was on its way, and the flatbed truck had the car tucked tightly onto the back of it. All evidence at the scene was as secure as they could make it for the time being, and the only three that remained was Harding, Fitzgerald, and Antonia. Harding shoved his hands in his pockets and looked around at the scene, knowing that he had some business to attend to concerning their suspect, and his former partner, who would probably be looking for some answers. "Toni, would you mind if Fitz drove you back to the city? I was thinking of doing a little poking around here, see if there is anything we missed."

Antonia eyed him carefully, her eyebrow lifting skeptically. Her expression was the true reflection of her mother, especially with her hair tied back, and the jumpsuit on. "Are you sure you don't need backup?" She asked, glancing to Fitzgerald and back to Ace.

"Nah." He said shaking his head. "I don't intend on getting into any trouble or anything." He chuckled.

She looked to Aiden, and back to Harding, nodding. "That's fine. I can ride back with Agent Fitzgerald. I'm just going to change back into my sneakers, and out of the jumpsuit, and we can get going." She said politely, moving back to the SUV.

Aiden watched her walk off, and turned toward his car, when he felt Harding pull at his arm a bit. He looked back, and Harding lowered his voice. "I'm going to give Booth a call, let him know what's going on here. No matter how much she begs, do not take her to the lab. Take her directly to the hospital, okay?"

"Sure." He nodded.

"She'll try to charm you, kid. You must resist the charm."

Aiden chuckled. "I'll try to resist."

"What are you two talking about over here?" Antonia asked, feeling much more comfortable in her regular clothes, she pulled on her coat, shivering in the cold.

"I was just telling him to take you right to the hospital." Harding said, watching as the corner of her lip curled up, that Booth smile starting to shine through.

"Sounds good." She nodded, walking toward the SUV Aiden shrugged and followed behind. As they got to SUV, and Harding headed to his own, Antonia opened her door and caught Aiden's eye over the hood. "Or maybe we could take a quick stop to the lab on the way there." She said, climbing into the passenger seat and closing the door.

"Oh boy." Aiden muttered, he gave Harding a wave, and climbed into the driver's seat, preparing himself for a long ride back to the city.
