Booth and Ace approached the interrogation room together, neither really knowing exactly what to expect, or what they were looking for at this moment. They knew that Seeley was the key to finding those responsible for Grace's shooting. However, they also knew that the Metro PD were going to be very unhappy when they learned that the FBI was already way ahead on the case.

"Where is the car going?" Booth asked, stopping in the hallway outside of the observation room. He wanted to get a good look at his nephew, and talk strategy with Ace before they went in and talked to him.

"Jeffersonian." Ace said, stopping Booth before he stepped into the room, he blocked the door and Booth showed his confusion. "Hang on a second." He paused. "The car was called in because of the body, it is just a coincidence that it's an open case with the PD. It was over in Virginia, so it is our jurisdiction, but we should probably share the case. We can probably convince them to work with us on it, especially if that car gets into the lab tonight, and the techs start it in the morning."

"And when do you think we tell the PD that we have their car, suspect, and crime scene?" Booth asked, looking at Ace expectantly.

"I think that it's fair if we let them know after the holiday." Ace shrugged. "I mean after all, it is a holiday." He sighed, still blocking the door for another moment. "Did Grace offer up any details?"

"She said that Seeley was in the car, but wasn't the one with the gun. He did hit her with the door, trying to knock her off balance so they could take off. We're looking for two other guys that he is associating with, assuming the body in the car was number four."

"So not the shooter, but definitely knows who the shooter was." Ace said, watching Booth nod.

Booth glanced around Ace at the doorknob to the observation room. "Are you going to let me in there?" he asked, nodding toward the door.

"Oh… yeah." Ace said quickly as he moved out of the way and let Booth walk in. "Oh right, there's one more…"

Ace heard Booth gasp slightly as he looked in at his nephew. "What the hell happened to him?" Booth asked, staring in at Seeley sitting at the table. He had an ice pack on the table, his eye swollen shut, and cuts and bruises on his face. He had a drink on the table, and was just sitting, waiting.

"Uh, well, we had a bit of a pursuit at the crime scene." Ace said, glancing to Seeley in the room, and back to Booth.

"It looks like he had a run in with a tree." Booth replied.

"Not quite." He said softly, grimacing. "I mean… technically there were trees nearby when Antonia was beating him to a pulp." He just stared in the window at Seeley, watching Booth's reaction in the reflection of the window.

"Excuse me?" Booth said, his voice lower.

Ace turned toward Booth but took a step back, holding his hands up in defense. "Toni is fine. She pursued him. She took off after him before we even had a chance to know what was going on. That girl should have been on a track team." He muttered, noting that what he was saying really wasn't helping. "Or maybe a boxing team." He sighed. "Listen, I'll go in and start." He said, pointing toward the door.

"Ace." Booth growled.

"Deuce." Ace said winking, and pointing at Booth. "Now that we have introductions taken care of…" He said with a smirk, he quickly slipped out the door to avoid a more thorough confrontation.

Ace quickly closed the door behind him. He walked to the interrogation room and took a deep breath. He thanked the agent standing at the door, telling him to go get a cup of coffee, and he slowly entered the interrogation room.

As soon as he walked into the room, Seeley looked up at him. The young man's demeanor changed from boredom to defiance in less than a second. "I have nothing to say." Seeley said, leaning back in the chair. He poked at the ice pack on the table, and glared at Harding.

"I didn't ask you anything yet." Harding said, sitting down at the table across from him. He looked over Seeley carefully, noting his appearance. Other than the bruises that Antonia had inflicted upon him, he looked to be in relatively good shape health wise. His hair was cut short to his scalp, and a tattoo could be seen beneath the collar of his shirt. His blue eyes were a mix of fear and anger, and his jaw was set.

"What if I want a lawyer?" He asked indignantly.

"You think a lawyer is going to come out here on Christmas day and defend your sorry ass?" Harding laughed. "What the hell were doing at our crime scene, kid?"

"Don't call me kid." Seeley snapped back. "I'm not a kid."

"Fine." Ace said softly, he sighed. "Why were you at our crime scene, punk?"

"I was taking a walk."

"You were taking a walk? Do you live out there?"

"Yeah, I live out there." He said angrily. "I live anywhere I want to."

Ace just stared at him for several moments, knowing full well that he wasn't going to get anywhere with him by just asking questions. He needed to find a flash point, a trigger. His eyes flicked to the mirror, and back to Seeley. "Listen, man. Right now we have a car in a lake with a body in it. We have a gun, and we have an eye witness that puts you in that car, on the scene of a police shooting. So I have a dead person, a gun, a police officer with a hole in her, and you. It makes for a pretty solid case."

"I didn't have the gun. I didn't shoot Grace."

"But you admit that you were there."

"I didn't admit anything." Seeley said angrily. "I don't want to talk anymore. I don't have to talk anymore. I want a lawyer."

"Can you tell us who the other people in the car were?"

"Lawyer."

"Listen, we can do this with you, or without you. The big difference is going to be with you, we can protect you. Without you, you get stuck in a prison cell until this gets straightened out, and if any of your pals get thrown in with you, you're dead."

Seeley just continued to stare at Ace angrily, refusing to speak.

"You know what? That's fine." Ace said standing up. "We've got enough on just you to put you away for a while. We'll find your friends too." He walked out of the room, leaving Seeley to his thoughts, and approached the observation room just as Booth stepped out. "He's lawyered up."

"Yeah, well. I just want to give him some more facts to help him decide whether or not he's made a good decision or not." Booth said, giving Harding a pat on his shoulder as he opened the interrogation room, closing the door behind him.

Seeley was visibly shaken by his uncle's entrance, and immediately sat up in his chair. His eyes widened, and the mask of bravado seemed to just dissipate into the air. Booth didn't sit down, just kind of walked around the table and leaned against the wall for a moment.

"Uncle Seeley." The young man said softly.

"Hey, it's been a while." Booth said, watching Seeley swallow hard. "I understand that you've lawyered up." He nodded, stepping forward to the table, Booth sat down. He could see that Seeley was about to say something, and held his finger up. "No, no… you want a lawyer, don't say another word. It's my turn, okay?" He leaned a bit on the table, looking directly into the young man's eyes. "I have paid my dues, kid. I have gone to hell and back for my family, okay? I've been beaten, blown up, locked away, shot, stabbed, and almost drown more times than is reasonable for any sane person. Whether you like it or not, I helped raise you. I know that you think that Bones and I hate you, that we deserted you, left you behind and forgot about you… But you know damn well that you had a fine childhood. You know for an actual fact that I would lay my own life on the line for you, do you got that? I've never once asked for anything in return, Seeley, never." Booth's anger was turning to rage, and he found himself towering over his nephew.

Seeley swallowed hard, staring at his uncle towering over him, and could see the passionate anger in his eyes. "I'm scared." He whispered.

"You want to talk about scared, Seeley? I woke up this morning thinking that I would be sitting down to a breakfast made by my wife, surrounded by my children and my grandchildren. I was even hoping that your damned father would bring you by for dinner and gifts. You know that Bones always gets you something, don't you? You are always welcome at our home. But no. I woke up to a police officer at my door telling me that my youngest daughter was shot. My baby girl was shot by some goddamned lowlife asshole who has no regard for human life. That's scared, Seeley. My daughter is lying in a hospital room. She's lying in a hospital bed with a bullet wound in her shoulder, and a cast up her leg on Christmas Day because of something you know about, something that you're trying to keep me from." He shook his head, his voice a growl. "I will find out the truth whether you give it to me or not, do you understand? Being scared right now, that's only the beginning of what you're going to feel if you don't help us with this."

"Yes, sir." Seeley whispered.

"Do you still want that lawyer, Seeley?"

"No sir." He swallowed hard. "No, sir." He repeated, looking down at the table, he stared at his hands. "I'll tell you everything."
