As soon as Aiden walked out of the room, the attention was off Antonia's hands. "Hey." Grace said, tapping her sister's hand, Antonia gave her sister a playful glare. "What's with Agent Smoulder over there?" She nodded toward where Fitz had gone.

"I don't know what that means." Antonia said, with a smirk for her sister that said that she knew exactly what she meant. "He brought me here from a crime scene, that's it."

"I think he likes you." Grace said, smiling at her sister, watching Antonia's face begin to blush. "You like him too." She laughed, a sound that Temperance was so happy to hear, even at her other daughter's expense.

"What kind of drugs is she on?" Antonia asked, standing up, she walked over to the end of the bed, grabbed the clipboard and began to flip through it. She glowered at her sister playfully. "Yeah, you're on some pretty strong drugs." She joked, setting the clipboard down.

"Alright, girls. That's enough." Temperance said, though humored by their teasing. It felt normal, even if they were sitting in a hospital room. "You were at a crime scene this afternoon?" Temperance asked.

Antonia looked over at her mother and stammered a bit. She didn't want to make her mother worry, so thought it better just keep the facts to a minimum. "Uh, a car in a pond, deceased in the back seat." She said, solemnly. "Ace didn't want to interrupt you, since you were here with Gracie. He brought me along, and Aiden… I mean Agent Fitzgerald… and afterwards, he brought me here."

"And how did you scrape your hands?" Temperance asked, lifting her eyebrows at her daughter.

"It's not important. I made a poor decision, and I am paying the consequences." Antonia said honestly, knowing full well that it wasn't enough for her mother, but when she saw the tilt of Temperance's head, she knew that she had gotten a reprieve.

The door opened, and Aiden stepped in, smiling politely at the three women as they all watched him come in. "Sorry about that."

"Was it Ace?" Antonia asked, watching as Aiden sat beside her mother on a third chair.

He chuckled lightly and blushed a little. "No, actually it was my mother." He said, looking at his hands. "She wanted to know why I hadn't called to wish them a Merry Christmas."

"So you're a mama's boy?" Grace asked, smiling brightly.

"Grace, I swear …" Antonia growled.

"I am." He smiled, nodding his head. "Proudly and unequivocally." He caught Temperance's smile, and smiled back.

"Where is Dad?" Antonia asked, glancing to her sister, she noticed Grace's mood become much more subdued.

"He was trying to reach your Uncle Jared." Temperance said, noticing that Antonia nodded, but her eyes connected with Aiden's. Temperance looked to the young FBI agent and back to her daughter. "Is there something that you two would like to share with me?"

"We found Seeley." Antonia said, immediately noticing Temperance's face go pale. "No, no. Mom. No… he… he was hiding in the woods. He was hiding in the woods at the crime scene."

"You found him?" Grace asked, swallowing hard. "He's alright?"

"Well, he's alive…" Aiden nodded. "And he can run."

"Not fast enough." Antonia muttered, shoving her lip into her mouth when her mother looked to her quickly.

"Ace and I arrested him, Doctor Brennan." Aiden confirmed. "He's in custody, and Ace said he was going to call Booth. They're probably questioning him. I'm sure they really didn't want to stress you out about it."

"I honestly think their true intent was to keep the Metro PD in the dark until they could get the Jeffersonian on the case." Toni said, trying to read her sister's eyes, as they settled on her. "I didn't know Seeley had anything to do with Grace until he mentioned the shooting." Antonia swallowed hard. Grace squeezed her sister's hand softly.

"The chief said he'd be by in the morning to talk to Grace." Temperance said softly, watching the two sisters watch one another. They were having a conversation with their eyes, and she was pretty sure what the subject was. She turned to Aiden and smiled. "And for the record, Agent Fitzgerald. I'm not a child who needs to be protected, as my husband and partner seem to forget. I'd appreciate in the future if you could please just keep me apprised of any cases that arise."

"Yes, ma'am." Aiden nodded politely.

"And please stop calling me, Ma'am."

"Sorry, Doctor Brennan." He said, sheepishly.

Booth sat in Ace's passenger seat, his eyes on the passing scenery as he breathed deeply. Ace could tell that he was angry, so he kept his mouth shut, letting his old partner simmer for a little while. They pulled into the visitor parking area for the hospital, and Ace and Booth both got out of the SUV. They started to walk toward the hospital, just getting to the sidewalk near the entrance, when Booth tugged at Ace's jacket, getting him to stop. He turned, and immediately took a step back, gauging his friend's demeanor as aggressive.

"Tell me what happened with Antonia at the scene." Booth said, watching as Ace let out a deep sigh.

"Booth, it doesn't matter. She made a poor decision, and she understands that. She's fine." Harding said, hoping that it would be enough for Booth, but he could see that his rage was only building off his already frayed nerves.

"She's fine." He nodded. "She's fine this time… she could have gotten killed!" he exclaimed. "What if he was armed? What if he wasn't her scrawny cousin, Ace? What if it was someone bigger, someone with a damn gun or knife! You were supposed to be watching her!" He said, giving Ace a shove with his palm. Ace nearly slipped on the ice, catching himself, he took a step back.

"Booth, come on. You know she doesn't listen. You know that both your wife and your daughter are known for taking risks." Ace snapped.

"Don't bring Bones into this. Bones has been doing this for years. She knows better. She knows that gun goes first." Booth said, poking at Ace with each word. "But when I tell you to keep an eye on my kid out on a goddamned crime scene, I expect those orders to be followed."

Ace gave Booth a glare. "I'm not your employee, Booth. You don't give me orders."

"When it comes to my kid I do!" Booth shouted.

"Yeah, maybe your kid isn't ready to be out in the field, huh? Maybe your kid needs to spend some more time in the lab where squints belong!" Ace shouted, not even sure why he was even in the middle of this argument, or what he was saying. "I've learned my lesson, okay? I'll never take your kid out in the field again, okay? I have a goddamned job to do, Booth! I solve murders! I don't have time to babysit undisciplined, brazen, snot-nosed brats with big brains and zero social skills that like to make everyone else around them feel stupid! Antonia will never be Temperance, Booth!" Ace was breathing heavily, the steam from his breath expelled as he watched Booth's attention move behind him. He whirled around to catch the wide eyes of Antonia standing just outside the hospital doors beside Aiden, who looked just as shocked. "Shit." Ace whispered. "Toni." He said, his voice calm, he watched as her shock dissolved into a stoic replica of her mother.

"Antonia." Booth said, and he watched her take a step back, holding her finger in the air at them.

"No." She said, and her voice was as clear and as crisp at the frozen air around them. "No." She shook her head.

"Toni." Ace said, the only word he could muster.

The only person that moved was Aiden, and all he did was pull his keys from his pocket, breaking the silence. He leaned down and whispered something in Antonia's ear, and she looked up at him, her features softening slightly. He nodded his head toward the car, without saying a word, and without a word to her father, or Ace, she grabbed Aiden's arm, and pulled him along toward his car.
