When Antonia and Aiden climbed into the SUV together, she settled into the passenger seat with a resigned sigh. "Dad called me about a dozen times between last night and this morning." She rolled her eyes and glanced to Aiden.

"How do you know it wasn't something to do with your sister?" he asked sincerely as he started driving them away from his apartment.

"Because my mother would have called." She said honestly. "Dad is trying to smooth things over before I get to the lab. If he had told my mother what had happened last night between Dad and Ace, she would have called me." She said knowingly.

"Damage control?"

"Exactly." She nodded. They drove a little longer in silence, and when she got to an area that she was familiar with, she pointed to a parking space. "Drop me off here." She said, seeing the Royal Diner in the distance, she knew that there was a good chance that her father was keeping an eye on her car, which was parked nearby.

"You're sure?" He asked, glancing over to her, he pulled over.

"My car is right up here." She said with a smile. "It's probably why Dad called you in the first place, it's not in its usual spot. My apartment isn't far." She climbed from the car and sighed. "Thank you for the ride." She smiled. "See you later."

"See you later." Aiden said, giving her a friendly smile. He watched her close the car door and take a step back, waving as she turned and walked down the sidewalk toward her car. He took a moment to watch her walk away, and when he had an opportunity, he took a U-turn in the road and headed toward the lab.

Grace was lying in her hospital bed watching as the sun rose on the wintery cold outside. She sighed and listened to the machines of the room whirring around her, and closed her eyes again. Her mother had left a little after ten in the evening the night before, and as soon as she had left the room, Grace couldn't get any sleep. She kept seeing the same scene in her head over, and over. Seeley telling her to just walk away, the man in the front seat with that sickening smile, and the darker figure in the passenger seat that she barely got a glimpse of. She heard the door of the room open, and kept her eyes closed, hoping that whoever was there would just go away. She felt someone touch her hand, and thought to herself how she just wished everyone would leave her alone, and stop touching her. She let out a sigh and opened her eyes to find JV looking down at her. "Hey." he smiled.

"Thank God it's you." She whispered, tears springing to her eyes, his blue eyes flicked over her face, and back to her tears, filling with alarm.

"What's going on? Are you okay?" He asked, his forehead wrinkling at her pain.

"I just want to go home." She whimpered.

"Aw, Shorty." He said, crouching down a little. "I just came in to check on you before my shift started. Please don't cry. You're killing me." he said, running his thumb over her cheek, he had her tear on his thumb and didn't know what to do, so he just stuck his thumb in his mouth.

"Jack! That's disgusting!" She said, lifting her hand to her face to wipe her tears, she started to laugh.

"What? I panicked!" He said, laughing nervously. "You never cry, geez. What was I supposed to do?"

She giggled. "I don't know... wipe it on your scrubs or something. I don't know what I'm going to do with you." She sighed, a smile still on her lips. "Thanks for checking on me." She swallowed. "I might get moved to a regular room today."

"Good. This part of the hospital is dead." He said, giving her a grimace as her eyes widened.

"Jack!"

"Sorry, sorry... wrong choice of words." He laughed sheepishly. "I should go. I just wanted to check with you. No more crying, okay?"

"I'll try." She smiled, giving his hand a squeeze. "I love you, Goof." she said sincerely, watching as his face turned serious for a split second, and then to a bright smile.

"Love you too, short stuff." He said, giving her a playful wink and another hand squeeze, he leaned down and kissed her fingertips playfully. "Don't forget to leave a forwarding address when they cart you out of here!" He said as he moved toward the door.

"I'll have mom tell you where I am." She promised, smiling at him as he left the hospital room. Once he was out of sight though, she could feel the tears start to prickle at her eyes again. She pulled her hand under her blanket, still warm from her friend's touch, and she placed it on her chest, as she closed her eyes to rest.

When Aiden made it to the lab, they were in full case swing. He strode through the sea of constantly moving people to find Booth leaning on the doorway of Temperance's office chatting. Booth turned around, his eyes full of fire as the young agent slowed his approach.

"Well, look who finally decided to make an appearance." Booth snipped, as Aiden slowed even further.

"Sorry, sir."

"I swear, Fitz, if you don't stop calling me sir, I'm going to…"

"Good Morning, Agent Fitzgerald." Temperance said, pushing past her husband, she gave him a warning glance, and his blustery attitude quickly deflated. "Please forgive him, he hasn't been sleeping well. It has something with bear hibernating patterns, or phases of the moon, I'm sure." She smiled sweetly as she walked toward the platform, shooting Booth another warning glance.

"Good Morning, Doctor Brennan." Aiden said, glancing to Booth, who narrowed his eyes at the other agent.

"Fitz." Booth said, stepping toward him. "The Metro PD chief will be here in a few minutes, and we're going to have to break it to him that we're taking the case. Then we need go to the hospital with them to talk with Grace. I wanted them to meet here first, just to see if Officer Dolan can identify the car, which is over in the shop." Booth said, nodding toward the back of the lab. He cleared his throat and looked around the lab for a moment. "Are you sure you haven't heard from Antonia this morning?" he asked.

"No, sir." Aiden shook his head, noting Booth's glare at his use of 'sir' again. He nodded toward the door. "Is that Agent Harding?" he asked, noticing that the agent was standing on the outside of the doors of the lab, trying to slide his card, to no avail. He looked up and tapped on the window when he noticed that he had gotten Booth's attention.

"The doors must be sticking again." Booth said, walking toward the door, he slid his ID card, and it opened, letting Harding into the lab.

"Damn doors." Ace grunted, stepping into the lab, he nodded to Aiden, who nodded back and turned around as the three of them stepped toward the platform. "I swear, these things are getting worse and worse." He said, sliding his ID card into his pocket. "Hey, Doc." Harding said as they passed the platform.

"Don't call me that." Temperance said, as way of greeting her partner.

"She loves it." Harding whispered to Aiden.

"I do not." She said, just to let him know that she could still hear them.

The three of them sauntered into the garage of the lab to take a look at the car, sliding out of earshot.

Temperance looked up when the lab doors opened and Antonia entered quickly, her hair still damp from a shower, and her lab coat hanging from one arm. "You're tardy, Doctor."

"Yes, I'm late. I have no excuse." She said, pulling her lab coat on, she looked up at her mother and smiled softly.

"Good answer." Temperance winked. "I assume you're taking a pass on this case." She said, glancing to one of the other interns who was helping to remove particulates from the body.

"Um. I can help with some, but I'll be off the platform." She said, buttoning her lab coat.

"That's fine."

"Where's Doctor Hodgins?" Antonia asked, glancing around the platform for her favorite entomologist.

"I think he's in the back. Why?"

"No reason." She smiled, "Just ready to get some work done today." She pulled her hair up into a ponytail and moved toward Hodgin's ooky room.

Temperance watched her daughter hurry off, and narrowed her eyes. She knew that no good could come from that pairing.
